[Q] Stop the MADNESS!!! - General Questions and Answers

I hate having my apps update automatically because I like to read the change log before I do anything.
I also hate having to tap update on each app individually and there are some apps I hate to update at all!
Is there anyway to 'check mark' apps then press a button that updates only those apps?
or keep certain apps from appearing anywhere in the update section at all?
This is really starting to bug me!

play store
You can open your Google Play Store, go to Settings, then Uncheck "Update Automatically". Also, uncheck "Update automatically on wi-fi" if you don't want to update even in wifi.

[Q] Disable permanently 4.4.2 update notification.

If You don't want to upgrade, and You like to disable the update notification popup, then:
Go into your Android settings.
Click on apps.
Swipe right to "all".
Click on Google services framework and uncheck "notifications".
Edit: Seems, this still doesn't help with Moto G, MotorolaOTA uncheck "notifications" should be the right one.

Anyway to disable update notification for a specific app?

I have an app that I don't want to update. Any way to disable the market update notification?
I've found some old thread but the solution is quite involved.

Thanks
Just go to playstore and disable auto update, if it's from Samsung apps then do the same but on samsung apps.

Yes. But that still get the notification. Annoyance aside, if I'm not careful and click on update all, it will get updated. Is there a way not to even show the update notification?
Go to the Settings > Apps then select your app, Uncheck "Show Notifications" checkbox and done. Maybe that help you.
Try user Cevem's way, it could work. If not then please post a screen shot, that way it would be easier to know what the problem is exactly.

Sorry. I meant the notification from Google Play that an update is available. Not the notification from the app.
I've found 3C toolbox. Its unlink function appears to be permanent, compared to what TB does

Chrome ad notifications

Hey!
I keep getting these ad notifications from a particular site called 'getnewsupdate.info' every day and even though I have turned off ads and pop-up buttons on the chrome app they keep coming. What do I do to stop them completely?
Thanks

You probably visited the site and unknowingly granted permission to send you notifications. If this is what happened, you can try going to system settings>apps>chrome app, thrn select the storage option in the app info screen, then select the option to clear saved data.
This will reset your chrome to default settings. In the future, when you visit a site, slow down and be careful not to grant notifications permissions when the site prompts you.

You could try this:
Allow or block notifications from all sites
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
To the right of the address bar, tap More More and then Settings.
Tap Site Settings and then Notifications.
At the top, turn the setting on or off.
it's from the Google official support page

Question LenovoServices is running

The past few updates and now this "Lenovo Services" app is now constantly running. I've tried to force stop it; nope. I can't "mute" the notification.
Any of you even know what this app is? When did it get installed and for what purpose is it there?
Thanks.

I've been regularly updating (Xiaoxin Pad Pro / P11 Pro) but never encountered "Lenovo Services". I do have "Device Service" (package name com.lenovo.lsf.device) which wants to connect to AliCloud in Germany a couple of times per day. I don't allow it on my software firewall (currently NoRoot Firewall), so no notifications from there.

I just double-checked and it is indeed there. I will post a screenshot if that helps you. Furthermore, I'm unable to uninstall it or remove the notification that it is running.
I checked the app, and it has no permissions granted other than "draw over other apps" but nothing for storage or location or contacts.
I'm on a US device if that makes a difference. Someone here must have the same thing I would assume?
I do have the same service running on mine and unable to hide it from notifications.
Time to go play in the Registry...
At least there is a way to "hide it" see here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo...ervices-is-Running/m-p/5083807?page=2#5447336
swipe down to see the "LenovoServices is running" notification and tap on it, it goes to the app settings page
Here you have 2 options
tap on Force Stop, it stops the notification but also the service itself (which is probably not a big problem, I've received an update, today, with this service killed). No notification in the status bar, no notification in the pull-down
Or
tap Notifications, DownloadService
there you see two main options, Alerting and Silent, it's on Alerting
switch to Silent and tap Minimise, notification gone from status bar but it's still in the pull-down, service still running

Good info. Thanks. Although still no explanation as to what it's doing or, how it got on there in the first place.

Question All Apps have Auto update disabled

I was playing around with disconnecting YouTube from the app store.
Now all my Apps in the play store have "Enable auto update" unchecked. I have checked the Play Store settings for "Auto-update apps" which is set to "Over any network"
Is there anyway to "check" all of my Apps to Enable auto update?
