Copying pictures changes dates on them - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am having this issue with my Nexus that everytime I copy pictures on device date of the pictures is changed to the time when its being copying.
Is there any chance to copy the pictures but without changing the date on them, I would like to keep original date on them.
Tried with normal copying when phone is mounted as MTP, and tried with OTG but result is the same.
Any ideas?

Rather than copy and paste, how about using a program to import the photos?

If you're on Windows, it has a built in photo gallery, I think. Otherwise, do a search on download.com.

Pictures disappearing

I took a few pictures on Friday but now they aren't in my gallery. Anyone else have this issue?
few questions...
are you rooted? if so, which rom are you running?
also, have you used a file manager to browse and see if the files are still on your phone? normally scdard/media/dcim houses picture/video files made with the phone.

Not rooted, just plain old stock for the time being. Haven't searched for them like that yet. I just noticed they had disappeared from my gallery.
i would check to see if the files are still on the phone.

Not normal, yes as suggested browse through your gallery thoroughly or use a file manager app like Linda File Manager.
Through the camera app there is a way to view photos youve already taken.
If You can preview them they have to be somewhere within your Inspire
Very strange. They definitely were not in my gallery. I hooked up my phone to my laptop and there they were in the DCIM folder. Now they appear back in my gallery after disconnecting the phone from my laptop. Not exactly sure what was going on there.
Thanks for the help guys.
If it happens again bring the phone back for another one. It could also be the SD card. Try doing a full format on a computer for it and put the files back on.

Hiding Pics from the Gallery??

Hey guys:
I've got tons of comicbooks on my storage card that keeps showing up as individual folders in my picture gallery. I know I could drop a "no media" file in the main folder to stop it, but then my other apps wont read anything in that folder as well correct? Is their any way to exclude the comicbook folder from the gallery?
thanks

call me crazy, but I have a feeling the easiest solution is to create a .nomedia file and put it in the folder you want to hide.... ooooor I could be 100% wrong.

You are crazy ;-) does not work here.
This does not solve your problem, but may be an alternate solution. I use a gallery replacement called QuickPic. Inside of QuickPic you can choose which folders are hidden so you only see the ones you want.

I've heard of QuickPic. But I really like the stock Gallery. And if I put a no media file in that folder,, my comicbook reader apps wont see the files either right?
Actually, all you have to do is rename the folder or file and put a "." at the start of the name. So a folder called "my_pron" renamed ".my_pron" won't show up
It's probably worth noting that you should do the rename on your tab and not from your PC, I had problems with it not working when I did it via my PC, that's why I mention it. I used Astro File manager and it works just fine.

It's a program designed to be more along the lines of hiding naughty things, but it would allow you to move all your comics into a side gallery type section, plus once their there you can subdivide them into their own folders AGAIN so that you have individual comics in mini-galleries, with sorting by name or date possible to make for easy ordering.

Noteworthy item is that with the EI22 update yesterday, my app got wiped with the rest of my phone, but upon re-installing it and going through new-startup steps it found the SD card data from my previous installation - yay SD card!

I have a app similar to this called Hide & Sneek. But I have to unhide pics everytime I need to use it. Will Keep safe allow me to hide the comics just from the Gallery , but let them be used in the Combook reader?
Quit trying to hide the pron from her and you won't have issues! Or just if ya get caught freak out and claim you must have a virus!

lol. Not worried bout the porn pics. But when I have to scroll through the gallery to find the folders my real pics are in, its kinda annoying. See the attached.

Does anyone knows how to remove this stuffs?

I recently wipe the tablet and done a clean installation of apps. But when I inserted my external hard drive, it add those audio from my pc games into the list. And the same goes to gallery, it's having my old counter strike screenshots. But it's there even if I can't open it without the hard drive. So does anyone knows how to remove this thing? I tried to clean data and it doesn't work, I even try installing google play music and the stuffs is there even without my hard drive inserted!

Just add a blank text file named ".nomedia" (without the quotes of course) to the Folders you do not want Mediascanner catalog media (music, pictures or video) files...

Adding the file to the root of the drive will disable the whole drive. Subsequently, if you disable one folder, all files and folders in it will be disabled as well!

LG 360 Cam Download to MicroSD ?

Hi,
I was on a vacation and used the LG 360 Cam heavily. I was so excited with the pictures & videos I took and tried to download all of them from the cam's microsd and not realize that they were actually downloaded and saved to my internal memory until I got the popup saying that my internal memory is full.
Have been trying to find any setting to change the path to my microsd instead of internal memory but couldn't find one. Already provided my feedback in app store to ask the same thing and also dropped an email to the author but received no response so far.
Is there any of this forum member can advise if we can change the path somehow? Thanks.
Have you tried manually moving the files with a file explorer like es file explorer?
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have scoured the camera settings in the app and haven't found the ability to save to the SD Card.
As mentioned above, I've been manually moving the to the SD Card using Astro, tough I have been meaning to test Redirect File Organizer to see if that might do it for me automatically.

Moving the files manually is possible using stock gallery app but only after I downloaded to internal memory. I'm avoiding a condition where my internal memory is full so I can download directly to microsd in my phone.

Yep - figured this out last night. No SD Card support for this app. I'll keep looking.
After leaving the review in playstore I also dropped an email to the developer and received a reply just now telling me that it will be supported in October.. let's see
the app just updated with some new stuff and it mentions something about other storage, and the cam also has an update but i still do not see sd options
it says support adoptable storage for download image/vids

I was able to edit the photos and videos from the 360 cam I have made a video about it here
https://youtu.be/wszkGqhooxE
Also Fyi there is a new firmware and app update which seems to have improved the quality of the images a bit as well as introducing an interval meter (timelapse) which is cool in 360 for that I used adobe premiere but the results where great

How do you copy files from Note10 using DeX?

Edit: Solved in post #19 and above.
Hi guys, I have the 10+ and DeX on macOS and it's awesome. But, all the articles (even on XDA) say you can simply "drag and drop" files.
I've found that I can indeed drop files from macOS Finder onto DeX and they get uploaded to the phone's Downloads (!) folder. Cool.
But I can't copy from the phone to the computer. Dragging from Samsung's Files app within DeX does not work. When someone works this out, please reply.
Same question for me ...
And m8 pls

Has anyone figured out any way to move photos from the phone? With DeX installed you can't use Android File Manager...
Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
At the moment short answer is no. Looks like Samsung over promised and under deliver. The DeX will be updated with drag and drop file management. Its so sad, Sammy has removed the disk drive host when u plugs in the usb to pc. Bummer. Which was so convenient just drag and drop anything. At moment looks like the only option is cloud.
Bump - a week after release, anyone managed to transfer a file from the phone yet?

Hi, so if I connect my phone to my pc using a USB cable is it not possible to drag and drop files from my phone? If not is this just a Note 10 problem? Thanks.

While drag and drop is not possible, You should still have access to your Phones Device Storage from within windows.
I can access both the 256GB partition and my External SD Card via Explorer on windows 10. Its not ideal, but i can still drag and drop back and forth. Just beats the purpose of Dex and there advertisements of the drag and drop on the dex window

Yep, Sammy made it difficult for us. Shoot, I transfer video files constantly.
No software needed. Its a plug and play. If u dont have otg cable, get something like this. Works like a charm.
http://https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IE70PQY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Go into the My Files or Gallery app (did not try other apps) inside DeX, select a file by clicking on it. Then click and hold again on the selected file(s) and drag away!
I found that I could only drag and drop onto the Download file from Windows to DeX.

Well, exactly like I said. First click a file so it is selected. Then click and hold the selected file again. It turns into a floating icon with a small DeX logo. Then, while still holding the mouse button, you can drag the file outside the DeX window to your desktop.

This was the key. I'm sure I tried that several times so I think the DeX app updated, but yes:
1. Open Samsung's My Files app within DeX
2. Hold down a file until a check appears to its left
3. Let go of the mouse button
4. Hold down again, and drag to your computer

Hey guys, so I found a work around.
If you have recently downloaded and installed DeX, it also updated your Samsung Driver which is the problem. What I managed to do was just uninstall Samsung USB driver and install an older working version then restart computer.
Now if that doesn't work, then uninstall DeX and the Samsung USB driver, and install the older Samsung USB driver then simply restart your computer and you should be good to go.
On one computer, I had to only uninstall USB driver. On another I had to uninstall DeX as well. So try both methods.
I installed Samsung driver from May 2018, may work with other old versions, but that was the first one I tried and it worked.
