Pictures disappearing - HTC Inspire 4G

I took a few pictures on Friday but now they aren't in my gallery. Anyone else have this issue?

few questions...
are you rooted? if so, which rom are you running?
also, have you used a file manager to browse and see if the files are still on your phone? normally scdard/media/dcim houses picture/video files made with the phone.

Not rooted, just plain old stock for the time being. Haven't searched for them like that yet. I just noticed they had disappeared from my gallery.

i would check to see if the files are still on the phone.

Not normal, yes as suggested browse through your gallery thoroughly or use a file manager app like Linda File Manager.
Through the camera app there is a way to view photos youve already taken.
If You can preview them they have to be somewhere within your Inspire

Very strange. They definitely were not in my gallery. I hooked up my phone to my laptop and there they were in the DCIM folder. Now they appear back in my gallery after disconnecting the phone from my laptop. Not exactly sure what was going on there.
Thanks for the help guys.

If it happens again bring the phone back for another one. It could also be the SD card. Try doing a full format on a computer for it and put the files back on.

Same pictures multiple times in gallery

Ok so I'm running cog, the latest one, and when I go to the pics on my external sd, it is showing 4 of each pic. However, when I go to the folder there is only one copy. Anybody seem this or know how to fix it?

I had the samething happen only way i could get it to go away is reflash the rom.

It's the Gallery app bug in the leaked Froyo ROM we have. I know my JI6 had this problem from day one. There is no sure way to fix it.
The official Galaxy S Froyo ROM released in Europe is not better either. Its Gallery app has a nasty battery drain bug.
Try this without having to reflash.
Connect to PC and MOVE all of your pictures to your PC. Delete anything you see inside .thumbnails in the DCIM folder (from your default Camera storage). Move all of your pictures back to your phone. If you accidentally copied a .thumbnails folder, make sure you don't move that back in. Gallery will reindex all of your pictures and create new thumbnails.
Just deleting .thumbnails and a reboot works for me when/if this happens.

That didn't work for me. I just tried it. My gallery started showing multiple photos again. I think this only happens when I connect to my PC at work (and/or home) and browse photos using Explorer.
same thing happening to me, i have 3 of each photo on the sd card
Try going to your picasa web albums at picasaweb.google.com/home
login with the gmail account you use on your phone and look at your web albums
By default the gallery app / android will sync with picasa web albums, so anything added there will appear in gallery.
I've never used picasa but I'm gonna give it a try.

Move everything into your internal sd card. I know it sucks and it's not as secure but just make sure you backup regularly. It got really annoying deleting the thumbnails once a week and it hasn't happened since I shifted everything to my internal sd.
I had the same problem. Not once, but twice. The first time I deleted the copies from my PC then rebooted. For awhile that seem to work, but just today I had the same problem in multiples of 8 for each pic.
Hopefully someone finds a fix for this
FROYO.UCJI6 Rooted, same issue except I have multiple icons for same pics that dont even exist on the phone anymore. Ive killed gallery, deleted every copy of .thumbnails I can find, rebooted..etc. No avail, folders that no longer exist on the phone show up in gallery, with multiple thumbnails for the same pic, very annoying.
I've been flashing roms like crazy here recently and haven't has problem yet. Though it is said it a leaked rom bug so I'll see if out happens again.

I also had that same problem with the cog ROMs. I tried many of the suggested solutions, including deleting .thumbnails. Unfortunately, nothing ever worked.
I have since switched to Perception, and I haven't had that problem since.
Ok..here is the fix from other thread
With root explorer delete:
- /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media/externalXXX.db
- /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media
reboot
Good luck

[Q] Photos keep deleting themselves?

my photos have been disappearing into thin air, and yes i've been checking to see if it is actually gone through connecting to the computer... is anyone else having this glitch?
is there anyway to fix?
Same problem. I haven't found answer yet...
If you use a file manager (Root explorer) can you see the files? Make sure you can see hidden files. If a dot is placed infront of the file name then it is hidden and cannot be seen in the gallery. If that is the case, delete the dot as that makes it a hidden file.
Or if a .nomedia file is placed somewhere in the folder, delete it.
Where does this photos came from?
Downloaded from web?
Have you deleted this photos from the download list without changing their name or location?
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14813409&postcount=9
this used to happen to me when I connected my phone to my PC via USB. my phone ringtones also used to reset. this no longer happens to me when i use gingerbread 2.3.4
i suggest you update if you havent already. also as an extra precaution now, i always backup my photos on Picasa.
I don't think they are deleting, they are just taking a long time to load. This has been discussed many times and the conclusion is that because the CPU is "busy" it takes a long time for the photos to load and if you wait long enough they will appear. I think there is a fix, but I am not sure.

Hiding Pics from the Gallery??

Hey guys:
I've got tons of comicbooks on my storage card that keeps showing up as individual folders in my picture gallery. I know I could drop a "no media" file in the main folder to stop it, but then my other apps wont read anything in that folder as well correct? Is their any way to exclude the comicbook folder from the gallery?
thanks

call me crazy, but I have a feeling the easiest solution is to create a .nomedia file and put it in the folder you want to hide.... ooooor I could be 100% wrong.

You are crazy ;-) does not work here.
This does not solve your problem, but may be an alternate solution. I use a gallery replacement called QuickPic. Inside of QuickPic you can choose which folders are hidden so you only see the ones you want.

I've heard of QuickPic. But I really like the stock Gallery. And if I put a no media file in that folder,, my comicbook reader apps wont see the files either right?
Actually, all you have to do is rename the folder or file and put a "." at the start of the name. So a folder called "my_pron" renamed ".my_pron" won't show up
It's probably worth noting that you should do the rename on your tab and not from your PC, I had problems with it not working when I did it via my PC, that's why I mention it. I used Astro File manager and it works just fine.

Kii Safe!
It's a program designed to be more along the lines of hiding naughty things, but it would allow you to move all your comics into a side gallery type section, plus once their there you can subdivide them into their own folders AGAIN so that you have individual comics in mini-galleries, with sorting by name or date possible to make for easy ordering.

Noteworthy item is that with the EI22 update yesterday, my app got wiped with the rest of my phone, but upon re-installing it and going through new-startup steps it found the SD card data from my previous installation - yay SD card!

I have a app similar to this called Hide & Sneek. But I have to unhide pics everytime I need to use it. Will Keep safe allow me to hide the comics just from the Gallery , but let them be used in the Combook reader?
Quit trying to hide the pron from her and you won't have issues! Or just if ya get caught freak out and claim you must have a virus!

lol. Not worried bout the porn pics. But when I have to scroll through the gallery to find the folders my real pics are in, its kinda annoying. See the attached.

All images displayed on Gallery with ICS

Does anyone get annoyed with this ics bug since they upgraded to ics?
My photo Gallery is now displaying all photos and images on my Xoom, even thumbnail images from all my app folders and music folders. All of sudden, my gallery now has over thousand of images instead only photos from DCIM folder.
Does anybody know any way to work around this? Is there a filtering option in the settings somewhere?
Btw, I'm still on official ics, unrooted.

from what I understand
I think you need to make a file called (dot)nomedia or .nomedia and put it in any folder you don't want to show up in the gallery. I could be thinking of something else, but I'm pretty sure that's how you do it. That would require you to be rooted though I believe.

Thanks for the tips guys
@liftman-, Will first try your method, seems to be easiest to way out for now for me
@dtrud0h, My Xoom is fairly new, not brave enough wipe it yet. Been reading up the Root procedures @XDA though, but I think you guys are doing a fabulous job. Will take the plunge once i'm sick of the stock ICS. Cheers!
Even with an unrooted Xoom, I believe that you can still add the .nomedia file to any accessible folders (not in the system area). Without root and an app to explore further (like Root Explorer), one should still be able to explore the user folders and create the file. Maybe the easiest way would be to connect to a PC or laptop, create the file on your PC then copy it to the needed folders that you can access. No doubt using quickpic is simpler but you should be able to drop some .nomedia files if needed without root.
Now is the best time to root anyway! Once you've had it for a while, got it all set up exactly the way you want, personalized just for you then you'll really hate to root and start all over from scratch. If you plan to root, just take the plunge! You'll be glad later when you don't have to redo every little setting PLUS Team EOS has done so much more for us that Google and Motorola ever have or ever will! Plenty of good folks here to help you out if you get into trouble but the process has been pretty easy and painless by our devs. Just my opinion anyway...whatever works for you!

I have the same problem on my Xoom running OTA ICS, but worse, my gallery app is ignoring .nomedia files and still displaying the media files.
I found a support ticket here that indicates the problem has been fixed with a patch --> AOS .nomedia patch
Wonder if this has been fixed in any of the custom ROMS?

[Q] Help! Wont read saved Pictures

So, Heres the deal. Oneplus, rooted (has been for a while) Currently on Cyanogen 5.0.1 but the problem started before this. I tried to use a different rom thinking that it might work but didn't so I had the same problem on the stock rom. Anyway, the camera takes a picture and saves it. Gallery recognizes said picture and everything is fine. I download a picture from the web. It will not show up in the gallery at all. Or google photos. I move it to another folder, any folder. nothing. I use a file explorer app, any app, and i can see and view the picture, but gallery still does not recognize the picture. Any idea why? they are saved as JPG. Please ask any more questions. I have not tried a reset yet. This started after i was gone for a month and the battery died.
