Hi !
I have read that a few moto G users felt moto G slightly slowing down after the Kit Kat update.
Have you experienced the same way after update ?
thx
No.

Not true. It'still snappy.
And in the benchmarks, KK scores higher...

No issues for me. Your premise is very ambiguous though. Exactly what is "slowing down"? AFAIK, KitKat is using less RAM on the Moto G. Are you saying opening apps is slower? Using apps is slower? Please be more specific. Posting thread like these is going to get a million different responses that aren't useful because it is not very clear what you mean.
On Stock KitKat rooted and haven't slowed down yet. Been snappy for me.

Is that even possible?
Kitkat is still plenty snappy and smooth, but a couple of apps (XDA forum app for one) are laggy for me if opened from recent apps. Swipe them away and a relaunch solves it, but it's a bit annoying.
No problems here. In fact I've just been running a side by side comparison with a Nexus 5 and there's not much in it. The apps launch just as fast, scrolling in web pages is identical. I've installed GEL on the Moto and flicking between screen etc appears identical. To top it off during these test the better level in the Moto dropped 1% the N5 6%, good result for the Moto I think

I have read that a few users reported a less smouth navigation and use after the kit kat update which was surprising me because of all Google communication on Android optimizations etc .... But with the feedback in this thread I am convinced it is not slowing down the device.
FYI, Sony can do very poor quality updates in the past (in my case Xperia arc S) that's why I am asking the question
I will receive my moto G soon !

It won't hurt to try, worst wil be it stays the same, best would be fixed, go for it.
Theorically it could happen after update but wipe would solve the problem.
I feel my two Moto G's are even faster after updating to 4.4.2.
At least not slower, no way

According to the image, the sum of each single app's RAM consumptions is clearly more than the 93 MB showed...but anyway it's useless to have all that free RAM, having it used instead permits faster opening and response of the apps.

Hi All,
I am rooted on the latest OTA (JB) from Verizon. I have notice my phone will lag considerably during typing, turning the screen on and durring general usage. I did not have this problem on ICS. I am surprised I cant find any thread on this right now. Am I the only one? If so I guess I am going to unroot and go to the Verizon store...
Please help
Things already tried:
Factory Rest (twice)
LagFix Free
Advance Task killer
AutoKiller Memory
Changing Governor
Apex vs Nova Launcher
Always seem to be running low on memory...

Hi mate,
Normal RAM usage in Stock is around 1GB
Keep in mind, more RAM usage(<1.5GB), better would be your smartphone's performance.
Do not keep cleaning your RAM again and again
Do not install any battery sucker apps!

What I don't get is that 4.4 was supposed to drastically improve RAM usage, yet my Moto X which is still on 4.2.2 consistently has more free RAM available at any given time. Even if I do an end all in system panel, my X has 200mb more free RAM than the N5. It's not really a problem (I don't get redraws on my N5 but I do get tons of them on my N7), but I just don't understand it considering 4.4 was supposed to reduce the operating system's memory footprint.

Android 4.4 does what its doing, on lower end devices or people who make roms can call ActivityManager.isLowRamDevice() to activate kitkats ram saving feature ensuring it will not exceed that 512MB hard limit because the Nexus 5 is a flag ship device like the moto x it does not need to call the lowramdevice API google has added in Android 4.4 kitkat so thats why sometimes the ram usage is high.
There is another simple way to check your ram go to developer options then process stats if it says its normal then its normal don't worry about a thing.
The beauty of android is that it will optimize its memory itself you do not need to tap that multitask button and swype all those cards away as it manages its own memory for example
As in this game vector the OS realizes that it needs more ram... Fine android optimized the memory and suspended some apps if you look at the graph you see the dip slightly rose indicating more ram that can be used
1GB used is norml for me, too: Stock + Rooted
You can use apps like Android Tuner to view which apps are consuming what amount of RAM exactly.
Attached is a screenshot of my Nexus 5 after closing all apps in the Android task switcher.

Process stats in developer options will show it too, and it will only display the ones that you can force close
I was asking about that too. So after all of this, why my previous nexus 4 with same apps was running nice and smooth with more free ram than nexus5? they have the same amount of ram, same cpu manufacturer (yeah different models but.. )... so what about it? You're labeling your phone defective because of a benchmark score?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If I'm analyzing the information you provided correctly, I'd say it's definitely defective. I recommend selling it on swappa and purchasing an iPhone.!.!???.!.!.!
No it is not defective.
If you go to the development sections and read the opening posts on the kernel threads....they usually list the features.
Research and reading are the XDA way!
Clearly read instructions before flashing anything of course.

Yes, but no one has been able to access it....like for double tap to wake that a lot of kernels have now. So dt2w and "always listening" are running off normal cores and keeping the phone awake....and costing pretty big battery loss.
The N5 has a pedometer on that core, where the X has active display and I believe always listening. No one has gained access to the low voltage core on either device. Its probably not doable without major code changes.

Can anyone suggest some good mods for me... I'd prefer non flashable since I always boot the twrp image and then do whatever is necessary and then relock the boot loader after resetting the flash counter... So I run stock recovery as I just wanna be sure that my phone in case of a service center visit I get to keep my warranty... Also is there some kind of flash tool??? As in complete wipe and reflash ... As in even when boot loader is deleted???

Okay i have noticed this weird problem since quite some time...There is this weird delay, of about a duration just less than a second, i face between my tap on the recent apps button and that action's actual output...Often this delay dissappears but the animations which take you into the recent apps window remain unbearably choppy...Everything else like opening apps, scrolling, playing games, etc seems to work just fine...I faced this issue with the stock GPE rom on my XT1033 and a bunch of custom roms like cm11 , NX5 experience and gummy...I tried using custom kernels to fix the issue but to no avail...I was wondering whether it is a bug or a general delay which everybody is facing or whether i am expecting too much from our device...
Any answers/solutions would be appreciated...

It's all dependant on the amount of apps installed and stuff. If you have a lot of background processing, there might be a delay.

So I have been reading through some of the Q&A posts here & I have read several conflicting reports of the G Flex 2 & the lag issue.
One thing that seems consistent is that the G Flex 2, with 3GB of Ram doesnt lag, or its nowhere near as bad as it is on the 2GB versions.
Can anyone with a AT&T LG G Flex 2 confirm this?
Everyone that has been complaining about the lag are from all over the world & I know a lot of the European carriers got the 2GB of RAM version for whatever stupid reason. I really want to get this phone & sell of my iPhone 6+, if anyone has a decent answer & is using this phone on AT&T (or even in the US, since i know sprint has it), do you still experience terrible lag? Thanks!

Confirmed att variant and no lag. Even when I play graphic intensive games and it gets a little warm no lag.

I have the AT&T version and it has no lag. In Fact it's actually insanely fast and it multitasks really well. I'm surprised at how many apps can stay open in the background and I can still go back to them without having them to reload. One time I played minecraft with my kid and the next day he was able to log back into my minecraft server without me having to open minecraft because it was still running in the background from the previous day. I have an ipad air and it refuses to run minecraft in the background. Actually I can't think of much other than music that it'll keep running in background. But overall I have no complaints with the performance on this phone.
Awesome thanks you guys! This is good to know. Display models in stores are kind of hard to tell because they usually have every single piece of bloat ware running in the background & it's hard to get a true feel for what it's like In day to day use unless you freeze/force close all the apps.
How is battery life for you guys? It's not that big a deal to me if the phone doesn't last 2 days. As long as it can make it from beginning of the day until the end under light use I'm fine with that. Also I'm not one of those people who constantly leaves GPS & sync on (only when I need it)
When using xda or light Web browsing it drains at 6 to 12% per hour. When doing lots of heavy Web browsing and using multiple apps at once it can drain up to 25% per hour. While watching videos about 13% per hour and while sleeping I see 1.5 to 3% per hour.
Hello. H955 user here .
I can confirm that I dont have any lag, even when playing high graphics games. everything runs great, I have 54000 in Antutu and 22000 in 3d mark Ice Storm Unlimited. Actually, in Ice Storm Extreme, almost everythin is maxed out, which is just..Well great ! Would like to get the 3gb version though, but i cant seem to find any in my country. Battery lasts for one day, with couple of maches played in WOT. The only thing that annoys me sometimes is yellow stains on screen that can be seen only in grey backgroud, but that is it..Other than that, hopefully a 5.1 update will come soon and we can pump up more juice from our devices )
