[Q] Verizon JB Lag - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I am rooted on the latest OTA (JB) from Verizon. I have notice my phone will lag considerably during typing, turning the screen on and durring general usage. I did not have this problem on ICS. I am surprised I cant find any thread on this right now. Am I the only one? If so I guess I am going to unroot and go to the Verizon store...
Please help
Things already tried:
Factory Rest (twice)
LagFix Free
Advance Task killer
AutoKiller Memory
Changing Governor
Apex vs Nova Launcher
Always seem to be running low on memory...

Thanks for the comment. I was really thinking it was only me. I cant find any info on the problem. Typically when there is a problem that effects all users there is a lot of discussion on the subject. Why not this time?

Little nebulous man... Was this an app?
Is it still doing it?
A screenie of battery usage would help.

Indeed. You need to run Watchdog or something similar to find out which app or process is gobbling up your CPU/battery consumption. More info you give, the more the community can try to help...

Weird man. Never heard of it.
However what you can do is isolate when it happens.
Is it there on boot up?
When did it start?
What had you previously installed when it started?
Start with the latest app you installed, and start freezing/deleting apps until the process stops. I can almost guarantee you its an app you have installed. just got to figure out which one it is. Let us know what you find!

For now it disappeared after a full charge but I think I know what app it could have been. A app call data switcher to enable or disable my mobile data to save battery so I don't know why it would use so much?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I have had it appear a few times with a little usage. if you tap on it I think it has something to do with the sim card, so you could try a new one if this keeps happening.
It mentions the dialer and sim toolkit and. Com.Motorola.phoneaddons

com.motorola.phoneaddons is an .apk that the phone uses.

Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
The rild, if I'm not mistaken, is the radio layer or telephony interface/stack. What system version are you on, 2.3.5 or 2.3.6? Rooted, rom, etc?
rild includes the following packages: (?)
Sim Toolkit
com.motorola.phoneaddons
com.motorola.hiddenmenu
ConnMO
Programming Menu
Phone
Dialer Storage
com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice
Orientation Notifier
Have you tried factory reset and run stock 2.3.6 (no apps) and see if you're still having the same battery consumption?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I'm running stock 2.3.6 because im waiting for ICS instead of rooting and because of fear of bricking
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
This exact thing happened to me, same process...
What were you doing all day on your device when it started to happen?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Well it's an app, thats for sure. Could it be an antivirus program you use? And this is it's realtime protection that constantly runs in the background or something like that?
Sent from my ME865 using XDA
I had this same issue with my new Atrix 2 (running 2.3.6 and rooted). RXNDRV seems to be related to a service named "Rx Networks PGPS Seed Downloader", which per their website seems to be an app that downloads A-GPS data weekly. For some reason it's chewing up a ton of CPU time on my phone and using more battery than any other application. I disabled it and the battery issues went away.
i use a app called apptraffic free. it monitors wifi and mobile seperately. its helped me when i had a rouge app taking over.
Me too. Atrix. Sigh.
Atrix, brand new w/ AT&T, NOT rooted. Android 2.3.6
All you have to do is google "RxNDrv" and you come up with Atrix users.
It is not regular. My phone might be fine for a couple days, then one day RxNDrv will go for a drive and kill my battery in a matter of hours, and do that every day... then stop. It's. Really. Aggravating.
RxNDrv is a driver related to the gps function along TIDrv

I appreciate it good looking out .
I'm running RLS7 now. I think it has a few more bugs than RLS6. I would try reinstalling it. I can't get my notification (text) sounds to work. It just keeps vibrating. I also can't seem to keep Weatherbug widget working for more than a hour.

Two hour battery life please help

I'm ruining stock ICS 4.0.4. Noticed yesterday my phone was really sluggish and battery life would go from%100 to dead in about two hours. I went into settings then apps and looked at my running apps and my phone was scrolling through all of my apps. I don't think that's normal. My widgets are slow to activate and my phone is slow to respond. Any help would be appreciated. Does this sound like a virus or a simple fix?

I did hear that from a friend and I didn't believe it...
Now I'm starting to believe...
Best way fresh install, format internal sd.
That way you know for sure if it's a virus or not.
Good luck!

That's not going to tell you if its a virus noob. It could be any number of things causing the slowdown. What are your friends credentials because if its not a background in networking security he's got nothing but here say. Unfortunately for you I am a security professional. The likelihood of a virus is slim to none. Its more likely memory issues some apps probably consuming more than its share.

Bad info and fear are not good input either. The reset would probably help but not because of a virus but freeing up tons of previously used space.

This is a good idea.
You may have a app wakelocking keeping your CPU running and not deep sleeping like stated above there is like a .01 percent chance its a virus.
Wipe every thing reflash ROM of choice let settle then install your apps one a time waiting a few minutes between them so u can see witch one dose it.
Read up on the wake lock thread and see what betterbatterystats tells you. Or you could just flash a new rom

Hey thanx to all who responded. I ended up backing up my phone and doing a reset. Lost all my sips but that's no biggie. Went back with sock ICS and all seems to be fine. Once again thanx for helping out a somewhat noob!
So just to see if I understood :
You are using stock but rooted (?)
And your battery last only two hours.
I had the same issue with a ROM. First you have to shut off al your radios, data, gps, wifi, bt... Just to be aware if none of these things that are draining your battery life.
Then you should try to verify your battery charger. There's an sticky here in the forum. And lastly you have to check wakelocks... There's a good discussion about that here also.
I know it's kind of disappointing at the beginning, but when you finally understand all the symptoms of your phone you will solve all the troubles really quick... It's like having a newborn baby, at the beginning you don't know why they cry but when you learn about them you can identify every "kind of cry".
Best regards.

[Q] Slanting effects when scrolling in portrait mode!

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Galaxy 7.7 (GT-6810) tab but have noticed something unusual when scrolling in portrait mode. Whenever I scroll up or down a web page for example, the text and page will just slant and bend. When scrolling in all sorts of directions everything just seems to bend and there is some kind of wave effect if that makes any sense. As the begins to stop it appears to even itself out and becomes level. This seems to happen in some other applications aswell.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Sorry if this has been answered before. Thanks for any thoughts.
Tom

Hi, on the day of purchase I upgraded the device to version 4.0.4 (ICS) from Honeycomb 3.2 (I think). I remember seeing this before the firmware upgrade but I thought nothing of it at first.
Mine is the same. On stock 4.0.4 and PA and CM10.1. Normal I think.

Nexus 5 lagging

Going through some threads it seems most dont experience any lag so im wondering what the problem could be in my case i sometimes notice slight lags when opening/closing app drawer, switching to quick settings, opening/closing apps (turned off animations so not really a problem now) and a few other instances is this normal? it got quite bad so i unrooted it and locked bootloader then unlocked and re-rooted and at the moment i am on stock rom, stock launcher and faux123 stable mainline 11 kernel
Glad I'm not the only one. Do the apps include any of the following: Timely, YouTube?

hopefully it is something that an android update will fix soon as its not just apps for me its everywhere but not all the time, i was wondering if its the custom kernel im using? Hopefully it isn't as i cant change the gamma values in stock kernel so that is the main reason for me flashing a custom one

Doubt it's your kernel. I'm running stock and suffering as well :/ It could also be a defect, some run fine others don't. Same with the same speaker issue, some newer owners especially the red ones claim it sounds better as the old ones.

Try switching to ART runtime, it seems to be much smoother. Im using Franco's kernel with a lot of downgrading in setup and yet I don't experience lags.
I did think about switching to ART but to be honest i dont want to lose anything in terms of stability but hopefully soon it will become part of an update so if lag is normal on dalvik now i dont mind waiting i just wanted to see if its normal or im doing something wrong

I'm sure that the problem could be around some settings with faux kernel. I use it too but recommended settings foe nexus 5 seem to cause some lag for everyone as it's more for saving battery life...
You might nee to play with some settings there Like governor and Hotplug.

Installing updates from Play doesn`t make the phone laggy unless there is a problem with an app or some apps. Rebooting after installing updates clears most problems most of the time.

Install BetterBatteryStatts for unusual app behaviour which is most likely the reason of your phone lagging.
