Ok so I'm now on KK and I see 'cast screen' in display. Sadly my HTC Media Link HD isn't Miracast after all as its not showing. Does anyone have any experience with any Miracast dongles they could perhaps recommend. There must be a way to display what's on my phone screen without all the messing about I'm currently doing to get a few things showing on the Media link.

I use HDMI with Samsung's connector. They have an over rhe air device but reviews are mixed. I will eventually get it to see. But hdmi works flawless. I get to use my plasma as a big screen the type & images are super crisp. I put my tablet on a tripod and use the touch screen as a remote controller.
I have the Allshare Cast Dongle and it goes fine. I use it with my N8000, S4 and Note 2.

Chromecast only works with certain apps. It's not a true miracast.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromecast
I bought a cheap rockchip miracast dongle off aliexpress, I will do a short review when it arrives. I'm not even sure if miracast function works but at least it has dlna.
Chromecast is great for the computer as you can mirror the entire screen, but it only works with certain applications on the phone atm.

Hello,
Does someone know if it is possible to mirror my phones screen to my TV ?
Its a Samsung UE40F6400
It had WiFi, and its a smart TV.
When i duplicate screen under Display its connected, and then my TV says connection is stopped.
Running stock rom, Faux kernel 03B06
Anyone?
Same thing happens to me. I have a Sony Smart tv with miracast but I can't get my Nexus 5 or my Galaxy S3 to mirror. I'm getting frustrated.

Miracast is absolute utter garbage technology. Its seriously one of the ****tiest standards ever to grace mobile computing, mostly because there just is no standard. It can work with one device and then not work with another, even though everything is miracast enabled. Its probably not worth your time trying to figure out, because even when you do its frustratingly awful sometimes. I got it working finally on my nexus 4 and 7, but even when the phone or tablet was within a foot of the damn miracast receiver it would still lag and lose connection while playing video.

Its not that bad. with the latest drivers its actually pretty stable with everything I have thrown at it. note 8, yoga2, venue 8 pro, nexus 5 and gs4.
to answer the op samsung makes it so only samsung devices can mirror with their tvs. hopefully they change this soon but until then you need to buy a ptv3000 or similar.
What does it check, could it work if i change build.prop or something else?
Any developer know how to get allshare on Nexus 5?
Or how to fake my phone to connect it to the TV with wirekess display?
Still looking.
Anyone ?

My N5 miracasts perfectly with my Sony smart TV (Except sometimes it lags or freezes and I have to reconnect) but I do have to go into the specific 'Screen Mirror' input channel.
Have you tried going into the specific source for Mirroring? Not sure if this will be applicable to Samsung TV's though.

Samsung got some modified miracast that works with allshare cast for samsung devices.
Is it possible to port those apps?

Today my TV updated to version 1117 after checking in menu.
Its working now with nexus 5,android 4.4.2 stock, faux 8u kernel.
But cant really use it when gaming, got some lagg, but its a good start that samsung now accepts a LG phone like the Nexus 5

I have a normal HDTV and I am new to mirroring or streaming things from my phone to my TV. I don't want to use any cables and I'm looking to have as little lag as possible.
Is there any dongle or set top box that I can buy and plug it up to my tv? If so, which is the best?

Netgear PTV3000. Just remember.. The device needs an update right out of the box to work.
Chromecast for $35 should work.
Yes the CC works for Netflix/Youtube/GoogleMusic but device mirroring isn't available.... yet.
Hey guys I've got a Nexus 5 (More info in Sig regarding ROM & Kernel)
And I got a top of the line Android media box with very similar specs to the N5, however I do not know how to do miracast, I would like to play dt2 on a big screen! So yes any help will be appreciated!

Or allshare cast dongle fixed.
Just install "ScreenMirroring Patch" from Google play.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.screenmirroringpatch
I am unrooted in the UK on o2. I updated to kitkat and screen mirroring stopped working as this has been happening to other people if you search Google. so after many searchings on Google I found this to fix a different problem, but it fixed screen mirroring after updating to kitkat.
Wanted to put this out there because I could not find a fix searching Google. Hope this helps.

If anyone is using the AllShare Cast Hub device, can you tell me what output resolution your device is using since KitKat. Mine which are on old firmware (no way to update the firmware with S4 or Note3!!), output 1080p/30 which is an unusual resolution and my Panasonic TV doesn't support it. Prior to KitKat, it was still 720p on the hub device even the phone is of course 1080
Resolution is 1920x1080 full hd.I tryed now a movie i am on uk 4.4.2 and is working.

Yes the 1080 bit I agree...its the refresh bit thats the problem. At 1080, you can have 50/60Hz (most common), 24p (blu-ray) and 30p (weird things). Samsung is using the 30p connection which is what is causing me all the problems
for those who can't search or just can't be ar**d!

Still doesn't work for me and my Cloudnetgo Miracast dongle. After patching with the Samsung app, about one in every ten screen mirroring attempts connect but only for about half a minute.

My note 3 didn't connect either. What I did was hit the reset button once on the hub device and then turned on the screen mirroring very quickly after the release of the reset button. It connected and always does since then.

Well, you can stick it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Hotel room or work. Bluray player stays at home. The allshare/screen mirroring is way better with my LG tv. I can plug my headphones into the phone and watch the tv. The cast hub will disconnect if you keep the headphones plugged in.

It doesn't work with the hub. It works with my LG Tv mirror cast. However, if you have the hdmi adapter the headphones will work while it outputs video to you tv. I noticed this after the kitkat update.

the same here... and it seems theres no workaround...
for the previous android version 4.3 i used a patched libWFD_ENGINE.so file which worked with root, but with the new kitkat there is no such a file in the library folder..

screen mirror fail note 3
Patch says not needed. Used to mirror from note 3 to tv thru my Sony BDP s3200 but quit after note 3 android update. BS. What to do? It was so clean and NO LAG AT ALL. PISSED
