I have a normal HDTV and I am new to mirroring or streaming things from my phone to my TV. I don't want to use any cables and I'm looking to have as little lag as possible.
Is there any dongle or set top box that I can buy and plug it up to my tv? If so, which is the best?

Netgear PTV3000. Just remember.. The device needs an update right out of the box to work.
Chromecast for $35 should work.
Yes the CC works for Netflix/Youtube/GoogleMusic but device mirroring isn't available.... yet.

ok so i picked up a mini hdmi to hdmi cable today and hooked it up to my tablet and my panasonic lcd tv today and i get no notifications on the tablet and no display on the tv at all...bad calble bad tablet or bad tv? the hdmi ports work with my dish, xbox and bluray so it shouldnt be the tv. its a dynex cable from best buy (i work there so its dirt cheap) i dont have another tv readily available to test with and nothing else that uses mini hdmi either.

Can't solve anything without another cable imo, bring it back and exchange it for another one.

*If* it is only a problem is Panasonic TVs I would not pester Asus to fix it. I would pester Panasonic to fix it. That being said if there are other manufacturers with the same issues then it is not Panasonic, but Asus who have screwed the standards up.
I've just tried same thing. Cheap cable from ebay. Hooked up my canon pocket camera and it worked fine on a Samsung TV. Tried the TF and nothing. Also tried a restart while cable was still connected but nothing.
Im on Prime 1.6.
I just tried again pushing the cable in properly this time on the TF. It works fine - hooray.

Due to the Inspire not having an HDMI port, the answer is NO

It is actually possible. Twonky Server can stream audio, pics and movies over a WiFi network to a compatible device. I use my XBOX 360, I think there is a list of devices on Twonky's website. There is also the option of streaming via DLNA, if you have the hardware for it. I have not tried the latter.

Just tried this using the HDMI adapter from my ladies Samsung Infuse and when I plugged it in it made HT Locations pop up with no option to output video to my TV. Oh well.

The DNLA streaming works great, I have played around with it but don't have much need for it. If you have the hardware, it's a great option and easy to use.
I want to be able to beam wirelessly what's on my Android Charge phone to my large screen tv... as we know the Android Charge has an HDMI output.. but I want to do this wirelessly... I found out that Bluetooth is TOO slow for this use.. I just got a laptop with the new Intel WiFi built into it.. just wondering if it's possible to use a technology like this with the Android smartphone?

DLNA is your best option. HDMI wireless adapters are over $100. Why not just use a regular HDMI cable?

well this is my issue... I have a big screen tv that I'm looking to cancel my ridiculously expensive monthly cable on (that I don't even get HD with btw). I have a Boxee Box hooked up to this tv... the Boxee Box is great for local content on my LAN, for Netflix, Vudu, etc. BUT... I really want Hulu+ and it doesn't look like that is going to be coming to the Boxee Box anytime soon (if at all ever).
So I was thinking... I could use my Droid Charge smartphone to run Hulu+ on it... but then I would need to get that video content onto my big screen tv... I don't want to keep my phone plugged into the tv via HDMI cable.. so I am looking for a way to transmit the video from my phone to my TV.. not sure if this is possible?
What about vnc? You could have the viewer on either the boxxee box or laptop. I believe there are vnc clients in the market. Only problem would be sound. Also , why not connect the laptop to stream via HDMI to the TV.
Btw quality would be unbareble from this phone . I'd be surprised if it was watchable

If your tv is internet compatible, then you can do this.
tappin' that....
No the tv is not
Being that almost every television made in the last two to three years ago has internet, (including mine) I'm intrigued by this post.
one thing I may experiment tonight is connecting the Charge to the TV via HDMI wire, and use the "Viera Link" on Panasonic TV. This Viera link supposedly allows the TV's remote control to control any device when connected via HDMI.... will post results later.
however, I have seen with an internet TV that the "allshare" app does show a movie file on the tv wirelessly, just could not get the movie to play.
the FIOS remote app though, does allow me to stream photos on the tv wirelessly.

It can output HD video fine. I had no problem watching HD videos from movies downloaded with my MediaHub credit on a 42" HDTV (well, no problem after I got around the DRM).
Keep in mind, for whatever you're trying to play, if it's DRM protected you may be unable to play it over an HDMI connection.
Do tell how did you get around the drm?

Some of the earlier GB leaks (like EP1W) seemed to not have DRM fully implemented so you could output video if you connected the HDMI cable after starting video playback. I'm assuming this was "fixed" at some point but not sure when.

Unless using vnc or any display mimicking program which only displays the resolution of the phone not its capable HDMI output resolution

Of course the only way to get HD video displayed is to output HD video. That's kind of self evident. If you're not streaming media stored on the device, that limits you to using the HDMI output.
That means either connect the phone with HDMI cable or spend $150+ on a wireless HDMI kit and try and get that working.
The easier route would be for the OP to hook up his new laptop to the TV (assuming it has a DVI/HDMI output) and watch it that way. He may have to put down $30 for a cable, but at least he won't have to keep his phone tethered to the television.

Ah ha. So that explains why someone claimed they could do it with gummy charged rom. Thx.
Would bw nice if one of our esteemed developers could unblock that either via updated rom or app. I would certainly pay for that - to get nfl network to display on my tv from my phone.

Hi.
Has anyone found a way to use both usb at the same time? Was hoping to find a multimedia dock along the lines of the one launched for the note 2. Anyone got suggestions?
Kinda keen on connecting the note to a tv and plug in en external hd / usb pen etc.
Thanks in advance!

I wanted to try this also. I DONT think its possible ATM. If you trying to watch movies or look at pics from the external storage devices, best bet might be to connect the tablet to TV through allcast wireless or DLNA.
My TV doesn't have wireless but I have a Samsung blueray player. I have internet connection plugged into it. So I can connect my tablet to blueray/TV through dlna connection. Works fine like that for me.
+1 wanting this kind of dock. Would be great
Shouldn't be that hard, considering that most other samsung tab/ note products have multimedia docks.
Been hoping to find a solution to the issue for a while.

What model Blu-ray Discâ„¢ Player are you using?????
Best buy USA has a refurbished Samsung Blu-ray Discâ„¢ Player (BD-E5300) that has AllShare for $39.00 free shipping. I was thinking about getting one as a don't have a Blu-ray and I would love to be able to use the Allshare with my Note 10.1.
Thanks for the tip.
Btw can you play games via all share ? And does the dongel need external power ?
Been looking at different workarounds on the usb and hdmi , thus far nothing that's quick and easy.

Is it possible to use the hdmi out and connect a usb peripheral? I have a bunch of lapdocks laying around and it would be cool to be able to use them with this phone with a couple adapters.
Lack of replies make me think this isnt possible.
Yes. With the right mhl adaptor it is entirely possible.
As far as controlling them with the lapdocks.... No. We dont have the software needed. You should still be able to display to them though.

I think the mouse and keyboard on the lapdock is just usb. So as long as i can get it all wired right I think it should work. Any idea what the right MHL adapter is?
I wouldn't risk it tbh. You would have to splice and dice. If i remember correctly, the laptops are made for a dual connection, ie. HDMI and USB at the same time. I'm not sure that this phone is capable of that, seeing as the USB and mhl have to go into the same place.
I think I remember seeing someone trying this before and it failed.
Just about and HDMI adapter on amazon should work. The one I got years ago cost me maybe $8 with shipping.

sorry thought this was on the g2 q&a my bad
Using a Samsung micro USB - HDMI worked fine for me using the GPE rom. I was able to have my screen display on my TV with no issues. I was hoping to use this to stream FIOS Mobile to a Hotel TV. Unfortunately, when FIOS Mobile sees an HDMI connection, it won't stream
You do need to power this connection. If not, you'll get nothing. This is the cable I used...
So maybe my original post wasnt clear? I know we can get hdmi out of the usb port. What i wanted to know is if there is an adapter that allows you do hdmi out AND connect a usb mouse or keyboard at the same time. On the samsung s4 or s5 or one of them, there was a media dock that allowed this. Not sure if the hardware is here on the m8 to do something similar.
EDIT: This thing: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
I think samsung uses a proprietary 11pin mhl to do what im talking about. Pretty sure the m8 just has the normal mhl, 5 pin or whatever so this isnt possible. If anyone knows different let me know. I sure wish this phone had a dedicated micro hdmi port.
