currently, can your phone boot up? if it cant at all (stuck in battery loop and wont even boot even though you have connect charger), then you have to take out the battery and charge it on external charger for like... 15 minutes or 30 minutes.. then put it again in the phone, boot it up and continue charging through USB via the phone.
example of some cheapo chinese universal external charger that i am using

oh wait, you fixed that problem. regarding that.. in my situation, if the battery completely depletes, then i cant charge it through usb while it is off. i have to pull out the battery and put it on external charger. when there's some charge in it, only then i can charge when it is turned off. i am using bruno's rom 4.1.1 and i dont have any problem with charging when the phone is off (except with problem as i said above). give it a try, i've used tons of roms before, i dont remember them having problem when charging while it is off. perhaps, some problem with kernel?
you can find stock rom in this thread. yes yes, i know, they are modded. but they're based entirely on stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856578
note; I AM USING THE MTK VERSION, not the nvidia tegra 2 version..
-----
if you're not satisfied with the modded stock rom. then you have to search in the thread with "stock rom", the search bar is at the bottom right of the page. if not mistaken, it has been discussed on the location of chinese stock rom.. not sure though. there are 11 pages turn out after i searched that particular word.
yes I am using the MTK version I found Chinese rom on need rom that runs fine with no problems charging battery its only when I add a custom rom the charging issue starts when battery runs dead I bought an external battery charger and wil try this rom tonight to see if it helps thanks for the advise.

you can try with both rom, ICS and JB. because both uses different kernel, ics uses 3.0.3 version and JB uses 3.4.0 version. who knows if there's been hardware changes and only compatible with certain type of kernel.

Only the keyboard is not working. No keys function at all. Only thing it will do is wake up the TF if I press any key. Touchpad works fine, as well as charging. Haven't tried any usb or sd cards yet.
It says it's docked and hardware keyboard is selected. Tried rebooting with an without the dock, and removed and reinserted the tab many times.
I'm rooted and running the stock ICS ROM and did the US Update to get it to be recognizd by my pc, applied through CWM.
I've tried wiping all data through CWM, wiping from the power+vol down method, and cold restart.
I also get a notification that there is a firmware update available if I check, but when I try to apply it just gives me the exclamation point and I have to restart the TF.
So I'm thinking the KB needs a firmware update? It says EP101-2013 right now. But how can I update the firmware while being rooted?
Any help would be appreciated.
Well I tried flashing the Revolver ICS rom with no change to the keyboard dock.
So I guess I'll head to a Best Buy tomorrow cause I think they still have TF101's on display. Will see if their display unit works with my dock or if it has the same problem.
Do you use asus keyboard in the input settings?

Yes it was set on Asus kb initially.
I've tried changing from Asus to Android, switching languages, turning off/on all the kb settings and toggling hardware kb on/off to no avail.
Also I tried the usb ports and SD reader and they work, so my dock is 100% functional besides the actual keyboard
You may want to try updating the firmware for the KB. I know I had to do that before mine worked correctly.

How do you update the kb firmware?
Well just got back from Best Buy. They had two TF101's on display, an open item running honeycomb, and another running the latest ICS firmware.
My dock keyboard worked with both of them perfectly....
So guess I shall now try unrooting and going back to a honeycomb version, then maybe try an OTA ICS update or something. Probably won't work, but I need to unroot if I send it in for warranty anyway.
Anyone link a good way of returning to unrooted honeycomb?
Damn. Flashed a stock honeycomb rom, flashed stock recovery and did an ICS update removing root, still no change .
So guess it is warranty time unfortunately.
Quick question before I send it in though: Now when I start up the TF while holding vol dwn+power, it asks me like usual about pressing up to enter Recovery. When I do this though it just goes to an android with red exclamation.
Is this normal or not?

Update:
Received tablet and dock back from Asus Service center on April 5.
Good news - Keyboard was working with dock!
Bad news - lower right quadrant of dock touchpad is now completely dead. Was not like that when I sent it in. Other portions of touchpad act erratic, as though your're tapping to click on something when you're just trying to move the cursor.
That part may just be due to when your finger transitions from the dead quarter to the good parts.
Sent dock in for RMA again yesterday.
Really bad news - Had not really played with my tablet until yesterday, and not at all with the dock disconnected.
Now with the dock gone and when the tablet is not charging, it just constantly reboots, or sometimes shuts down as soon as it goes into deep sleep, I believe. About 1 minute turning off the screen.
It's just in a constant loop right now. Turns on, screen goes off due to inactivity, goes to sleep and reboots instantly. I've wiped it like 8 times, cold reboots, disabled everything/changed options, skipped all steps in the setup and didn't even enable wifi and it still does it.
Called and got RMA number just now. I'd try rooting it again, but I'm not 100% sure the issue with the touchpad is from the dock, so I may have to send them back again if they come back not working together once I get them back.
FML.
I want to get answers of these two questions :
1. What will happen if my android's phone WiFi, Bluetooth, Data & GPS remains ON. I mean if I will never turn them OFF, Will there be any problem with them later on due to overheating or some other issues. (I am not worried about battery life.)
2. What will happen if I run a custom ROM throughout the life of my phone. In this I want to know that Will it decrease the phone's overall life because that ROM will not be the ROM that is originally intended to be used with the specific hardware which is made by company.
By the way my phone is LG Optimus Net / P690 & I want to know this so that I will take care of these things
1. I dnt think heating would be a problem, but yes battery will be consumed lot faster
2. Android is complicated so there's no definate answer for this, it may or it may not. Depending on how the ROM was built. But mostly it won't effect b'cause ROM is made by Pros
Hope this helps...

1.Only battery would be drained. (Not that you care...)
2.That has nothing to do with your phone's hardware!
1. Nothing will overheat you should be fine...
2. If you're worried you can always flash a different ROM or just reflash your current ROM to keep it updated and rid of excess junk you acquire over time.

Hi,
My wifi and bt modules didn't work for the past two months, and after searching trough the Q&A forums, I came to the conclusion that I have to change the ribbon cable, perhaps thats the problem.
So, I've ordered the panel, and it arrived yesterday, it was this piece:

}
I've swapped it with the old panel, phone fired up nicely, I even saw the BT connections logo appear on the status bar. Yay.
But.
The touch screen doesn't register my touches anywhere on the screen. I've checked the connections, everything connects good.
I've dismissed the idea of a faulty digitizer, since before the ribbon cable/panel switch, everything was working as it's supposed to be.
I'm fully out of ideas, so I'm doing these steps as a last resort: (I'm currently at the third step)
1. Discharge the phone all the way (until it shuts down).
2. Remove the battery and press the power button (as if you were trying to turn the phone on).
3. Leave the phone without the battery overnight (or for at least an hour).
4. Put the battery back and charge the phone without touching the screen.
Make sure you don't touch the screen whenever you're charging, until the issue disappears. This should happen within 2-3 days. If the problem persists, you ether did something wrong, or (as explained above) you have a different issue... Most common related problem is a faulty digitizer.

If this fails, the last option I see could be this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360638 (thank god I have a backup)
Please note, that I've tried the responsiveness of the screen with both with and without the battery cover installed, so I've dismissed the little silver pin as the issue. And as I said the touch screen was fully working before the cable/ribbon swap. Touch doesn't even work in recovery.
So (after a long intro), my question would be, does anyone have any ideas, what could be wrong? TBH, I don't want to buy a new digitizer (even if thats the issue), because I don't want to spend any more $ on this phone (bought a new battery, battery door, some misc stuff)
PS:
I haven't changed anything software/firmware wise during/before/after the swap.
Current setup is:
ROM: latest android1234567 CM11
Kernel: Sultans r53, slight undervolt, slight underclock
Recovery: TWRP
S-OFF
Thanks in advance!

I used Basel Kernel though
and Yes I have 16gb of internal space too. no problem keeping all kinds of app.
and if you're wondering I used the device or not the whole day, I played dumb ways to die 2, I took pics with flashes, chat with my girlfriend as it was Sunday and talked with my friends as well.
whatsapp and took calls.
cm11 and mighty rom are not getting camera fixed, plus out there ram is not the default 768mb. its less.

Can u upload u r modified Rom if it really last 20 hours and still had about 70% battery than my phone is no where near on continues use of 4 hours on 2g for normal browsing and texting and somewhat download (My phone is very old purchased in a week after launch so battery is still that great) . I usually use stock Rom as it does not have bugs than I found on most of the custom Rom did u changed ui or still it is same. I just want it. Can u give list of modifications u made in whole Rom and please do upload it.

There is no modifications in UI, although I can but then there could be issues and I work alone, although I have changed boot animation, used kitchen to deodexed rom and zipaligned all apps after removing the bloatwares and added few other apps into system. Although you all can do this, if you have been studying on xda, there are pretty good guides here. I have experimented a lot to get this result on my device. trying almost every setting possible. I will try put up and share with you all as well.
My upload speed is pretty bad and it could take few days to upload and I will also need time to put all the modifications and apps into a complete rom zip file for you all to flash (after testing of course cause sometimes I get mixed results with my device as I still keep on experimenting ) . will see how soon can do it and how nicely.
the reason it is stable is because I didn't touch systems file directly. so there are no bugs.
So i've had the infamous Marshmallow wifi drain since the update rolled out (US retail 2gb version XT1540).
Didnt get the time to look into it as university life didnt permit me from resetting and stuff, but I have reset my phone twice in the past week and the bug is appearing again.
For the first reset, i did it from inside android's settings. and then restored a backup (without any apps apart from whatsapp and messenger). For the first day there was no battery drain so I installed a few more apps and boom, charged the phone overnight and there was massive wifi battery drain the next day.
I then reset the phone from android's setting menu again. and then reset cache from the recovery mode and then reset the entire phone from the recovery mode. Didn't backup and set up the phone as a new device. Worked fine for the first battery cycle (only installed whatsapp and onedrive, cant live without these two apps) but the drain started once i charged the phone again. For the next charge cycle I restarted the phone when battery was 100% charged and havent had the drain. When I charged the phone again, the drain appeared again.
I've also noticed (but can't confirm if this is true) that turning off the wifi or disconnecting from wifi when leaving range also starts the drain.
I was also on a trip for the past 10 days without wifi. For a three day stretch when I completely shut down the wifi, location and other things, there was not wifi drain. My phone stayed alive for three days, even though I took ~150 pictures and a couple of videos. The drain started again when I came back home and connected wifi.
I love the phone and I dont wont to move away from motorola due to this little but massively annoying bug. What are my options to fix this? Had a chat with a motorola rep and they asked to send it to the repair center. That is not a possibility due to my geographical location.
I can try a few more resets if you people recommend. My suspicion is that the MM update had some weird bug and that I should move back to lollipop and then update back upto MM. In that case, I will need you people to guide me from scratch as I have no idea how to root and stuff.
bump. Any suggestions?

i am also the Victim of that Bug, finally i got irritated and as the warranty is about to vanish in 2 more months, i Rooted and install Cm13 ( which is based on 6.0.1) and its been 2 weeks
after going to CM13, it took me a couple of days to adjust, as i was really used to stock rom and Moto Stuff ( display, actions)
the Cm13 covered MotoActions, but no Motodisplay.. but the main thing i noticed is ..
1) I no longer see GhostTOuches ( but some times while typing messages, it acts a little weird by giving spaces)
2) the Wifi Drain issue totally fixed
i will provide my screenshots, have a look at them

as you said, you have less idea on rooting and stuff, there are two things you can do ..
1) wait for patch from Motorola, ( they will soon comeup with a patch, because there are so many people facing this problem, and they are eating motorola in the Official MotoDiscussionForum )
2) Revert back to Lollipop

I think I will wait a couple of months for the official patch. I have no idea about rooting and dont want to brick my phone. Have motorola confirmed that there will be a patch or is it just speculation?
