Galaxy tab 2 10.1 5113 in boot loop - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My galaxy tab was rooted and i Just installed clock work mod recovery and i tried to flash a custom ROM that was proven to work and now its stuck in a boot loop were i just see the galaxy tab logo on start up, then it shuts off. I have tried at least 5 different roms with no success. Does anyone know a fix to this? One of the roms was a aosp ROM and it got the furthest. it got past the galaxy tab logo and to its android loading logo, but it froze and restarted. This is really frustrating and i would just like a fix. anyone?
Thanks,
Zach

my brother almost rom for proper functionality before flashing requires you to wipe cache and factory reset and dalvik cache wipe
i think you did not perform it
also as now you are on boot loop if you are able to boot into recovery you can try to do these things it may work or you may boot in rom
also if not possible you can then flash stock rom through odin
also after flashing stock rom you will stuck o samsng logo so dont panic and reboot into recovery and wipe factory reset and cache partiiton and reboot { just these two things }
hope i helped and you tab gets working again :good::good:

Hi, I whenever i perform a factory reset and device wipe, it restarts the tablet. Im not exactly sure how to flash a ROM through odin, I have used it tho.
Also, all the links to my tablets (p5113) roms are broken. Do you know of any working ones?
Thanks,
Zach:laugh:

For P5113 you can use P5110 Rom´s - IR included to support P5113
For KitKat-Roms you need to use one of the latest recovery´s - else you´ll get "Error 7".
And don´t forget
"format /system" before flashing too

Am i suppose to format the system in CWM? whenever i do this, the tablet shuts off.
Is that suppose to happen?
Thanks,
Zach

Sorry if I'm intruding (I own the P5100) I have the same problem of bootloop, I've done the reset (also the / system) but as soon as I install the latest nightly of CM 11 7 gives me this error (Error 7), what should I do?
All of this has happened to me for a simple update to version

Error 7 means your recovery needs to be updated. Look at Android-Andi's signature, he has links to proper recoveries.

Hello, I have been trying to work with formating data and stuff but whenever i do cwm crashes so i tried switching to TWRP and it also crashes when trying todo anything with storage.
Any fixes?
I just want some type of android back on my tablet.
Disregard above. I am now able to format and install roms but whenever i reboot it goes back into TWRP. Any ideas why?
Thanks,
Zach

[Q] Bricked P5100? Help please!

My P5100 had CM10 nightly on it and was running fine until I upgraded to the latest version of CM10 after wiping the cache & Dalvik cache. After the upgrade I couldn't get Google Play to run even after wiping its data and fixing permissions so I tried to do a CWM restore. Unfortunately there was a fault restoring the Data partition and now my tablet is stuck at the animated bootscreen. If I long-press the power button it powers off but immediately restarts. There is no way to start in in recovery or flash mode. I've plugged it into my PC and the Samsung Android ADB interface is showing but the other references to the tablet all have a yellow triangle in Device Manager. I'm hoping some clever person can help me rescue the tablet with ADB. Thanks!

IF CWM is not working use Odin to flash CWM again then use CWM to flash CM10,
You may need to do a factory reset (full wipe) from CWM.
If all else fails use Odin to flash stock JB ROM

That's the problem - I cannot access download mode
UPDATE - it just started in download mode! I can manage from here!!
Just for the record you can install adb on the pc and run the command 'adb reboot recovery'. This will force the tablet to reboot in recovery mode.

Jeez, this has taken up most of the day to fix. I came across many problems I have not previously experienced:
1. When the tablet was stuck at the boot animation and I tried to turn it off by long-pressing the power button it immediately restarted. The only way I could get it to turn off was by long-pressing the power button whilst it was connected to my PC.
2. Flashing the stock ROM with Odin appeared to complete successfully but it would never fully boot, it always got stuck at the black & white Samsung screen. Same problems turning it off as above.
3. Flashing CWM with Odin caused the tablet to reboot into the stock ROM which would not load, in the end I had to untick the "reboot" button in Odin, power it off then manually restart with the Vol- & power buttons.
4. The only way I could get a bootable ROM was by flashing CM10 with CWM. I tried to restore 2 previous CWM backups but on each occasion there was an error restoring the Data partition and I got stuck at the scenario at (1). The backups were made to the external SD card with CWM Touch - is the Touch version unreliable?
I would be really interested if anyone could shed any light on any of this stuff!
For how long did you let it install during the first reboot? It happened to me too, and it took about 10 minutes, maybe even more...
Also, did you try in the "Mount and storage" cwm menu the options "format system", "format data", "format cache" and "format preload" options, prior to re-flashing a ROM? I have read somewhere that for a clean install it's better to do this, as it really clears everything that could mess up the system between two different bases ROMs (like CM and stock).
What I do everytime is using in CWM these 4 "format" options, plus "wipe" system, cache and dalvik, then immediately after this I flash with cwm the new "zip" copied on the card. Then the first reboot is much longer than usual, as at this stage it installs the files, rebuild the dalvik cache etc.
Good luck

I think I gave it a good 20 mins to boot. When I got up this morning there was an error message saying that there was no room to install any more apps even though I had very few installed. Settings -> Storage would not calculate the space available so I figured that the partitions had become corrupted. I did the step by step format you described and reflashed & it all seems to be OK now.

basically i try to flash every roms to see if any rom work to solve the prolem. when i ry to mount efs it said error. and after i use odin to flash back to stock. i saw current binary-Samsung but the system status still stuck at custom. any idea?
You should boot to the bootloader (Volume down and power button) and do a factory reset. This'll wipe all your data and - very likely - your Note 10.1 will boot again!
I had the same problem a while ago, and this worked for me.
edit:
Oops, I didn't saw that you tried this already...

haven't seen anyone truly remedy this situation, and I wouldn't risk sharing efs files

If still entering into download mode means there is no hard brick
This happens often and no need to worry
If you want to fix this just replace the boot.img in your custom rom by the boot.img of your stock rom than wipe everything and flash
Or if you have a backup of your stock rom system restore the boot from cwm

[Q] [Solved] Stuck in a boot loop, CWM reboots when attempting to format /data

Hi All,
I am at my wit's end with my Galaxy S3 at this point. I was running CM11 M12 snapshot, but I was getting reboots at least once per hour. I decided to try to dirty flash the latest nightly, but the boot loop started then. Here's what happens:
Cold start:
1. Samsung Logo flashes
2. Galaxy S3 Cyanogenmod Logo screen, 10-20s
3. CM11 Boot animation (spinning arrow gets stuck sometimes)
4. Reboot after arrow stops
I want to format /data to try a clean flash. However, CWM reboots during this process. I can format /cache and clear the dalvik cache. I can mount and unmount /data in CWM.
Is there another way to try to format /data? It seems something is seriously corrupted (probably why I was getting reboots when I could actually load CM). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Side note: I made a nandroid backup before all of this, but CWM is giving me the classic MD5 mismatch error, so I need to fix that before restoring the backup (assuming it's not just corrupted...).
Thanks for your help.
EDIT: I followed this guide and this comment to flash back to stock.
I originally thought I had a bad emmc block, but after checking them manually (through adb shell dd in recovery) and through a CWM flashable scanning tool, I could not find a bad block. So I went back to rooted stock. Now I am deciding if I should just de-bloat stock 4.0.4 TouchWiz (it's very ugly) or try another custom ROM...

I'm not completely familiar with CWM, I've always ran either twrp or Philz. I'd maybe suggest switching to another recovery. It's personal preference but to each there own. You should be able to flash it via Odin

Thanks for looking into this. See my edit in the OP for my solution. I'm still not sure WHY it happened, but I have a working (Stock Rooted 4.0.4 TouchWiz) phone again.

[Q] samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 (p5100) cant flash anything!!!

hi,
Recently i've updated p5100 to omnirom kitkat and i have CWM touch recovery. And also my device is not rooted.
out of the blues, my tab started auto rebooting itself. so i decided to do a factory reset to it. But i noticed nothing changed. the tab looked exactly the same. so i decided to flash a new rom (slimkat) to it. and i did. i followed the typical flashing technique through the sdcard. I cleared data, cleared partition, dalvik cache. and also flashed the new rom. but when i boot it, it remained the same old omnirom kitkat.
I did it a few times and got my tab stuck on bootload (omnirom) . i just dont get why CWM is not factory reseting the device or accepting any new rom. i even tried flashing TWRP. but no luck! so as a conclusion, my p5100 cant accept any new rom or recovery image and it cant factory reset. stuck on boot animation! but i could flash in the AROMA filemanager to it... would seriously appreciate if anyone could help me with this problem.
Thanks in advance.
