[Q] LG G2&Nexus 5 camera - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, i had a question about on camera. Is there any possibile change nexus 5 camera to LG G2, i saw the picture had the same socket.
anyone can give me the answer.

The answer is no. There is a thread about it already if you use search.
Anyway just because it is more mpx, doesn't mean its better.

You can use the lg g2 app if you want for the camera there's a port of it.

you need a custom recovery to flash the camera app and the lib files, but the camera works well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2598999

Hi,
It's not the same thing (I'm wrong or the OP ask for an "hardware port"?), but what is you're reffering is not a port from the LG G2 camera app (I have both devices, don't get me wrong maybe I don't say as what I would say), exepect maybe some libs (don't remember exactly), but in any case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2598999...
The interface is far from the G2.
EDIT: simms22 beats me

I know he was asking for the hard ware one but since that wasn't possible I told him he could try the software port (or whatever you say it is)

Wait, is there no camera at all or is it just that the LG camera app is not there? This may make me think twice about installing the update.

I registered just to ask this question, but do you mean that if I updated with the new Gingerbread update and did a factory reset then the LG Camera would be there?

No there is NO LG Camera app. Even after you do factory reset.
If some one would make a backup of the camera app and then post the apk that would be great

It really frosts my rear when I go to the T-mobile website and I see they are showing the new Mytouch 4g Slide with the "most advanced camera on any smartphone." And here I am with arguably the worst camera available on any smartphone (the AOSP GB camera, not the LG froyo camera).
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that they have something in the works to provide us with the proper camera some point in the not-too-far future.

I am waiting for the jury on this, is there a way to keep the phone LG photo app.....or put it back....after doing the GB update.
One guy said it comes back after a hard reset after the update....but others say that is a no go.
I want to avoid buying an app for the camera function, which I will need to do if its going to be just the stock Android.
Seems LG could release an update to replace it....no?
Right now the consensus seems to be if you do the GB update you lose the LG camera app, and it does not come back by doing hard resets.
TIA
I actulice and I still see the camera application.
Yes, you lose the LG camera application; that doesn't mean that there is no camera application. It's just not the one that came stock with the phone, and it's not as nice. For example, there's no "switch camera" button -- you can only take photos and videos with the rear-facing camera, not the front-facing camera.
I'm not a very big user of the camera, so I imagine this one will probably be sufficient for my needs until the final update comes out.

I wouldn't count on LG releasing an update for that. They didn't even ever release an update to fix the small email signature bug, so I doubt they'll get around to a whole camera app.
The only good thing that comes out of this is the stock Android camera does 128K audio vs. the 64K audio of the LG camera. Oh, and we can finally keep the geolocation turned on instead of needing to manually turn it on every time. Same maximum qualities otherwise, but almost no control over anything else and the zoom is not controlled with the volume controls.
if you dont like it and if it's possible please phandroid back to what you were using before. we finally get SOMETHING, proof of LIFE on this thing so please...quit your *****ing all will be well. lg does seem to intend to right their wrong.
I will be avoiding threads with titles such as this one like the plague because although I was one to be disgruntled too over this phone I at least can recognize progress when I see it

Oops, my bad; that mountain icon in the lower left is the "switch camera" button. That graphic just didn't communicate to me at all; I assumed it was the control for "focus mode" or some such. Sorry for the noise.
anyone know how to make the gb camera screen lighter? mine is so dark. I do love the update and I have had no problems what so ever. But the dark camera screen.

[Q] Swap LG G2 camera module into Nexus 5?

Hi guys since the N5 and G2 are closely related I was thinking it might be possible to put the 13mpx camera module from the G2 into the N5. I did some searching for images and from what I can see the connector looks to be the same or at least very similar:
Nexus 5 camera module:
http://www.etradesupply.com/lg-nexus-5-d820-rear-facing-camera.html
LG G2 camera module:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Camara-Prin...3?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item2330e302e7
Even if this fits there might be software related issues that might stop it from working (Drivers etc)
What do you guys think? worth a try? Or anyone tried it?
I think its pointless. Its not all about mega pixels you know?

probly wont work and would need a entire software rewrite if the phone even could detect it I think there would be serious software problems
I wouldn't bother

IMO, it's definitely can! The module is same!
Might be worth the hassle. You could always pop the original camera back in if it didn't work and sell the G2 camera.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If it weren't around the holidays, I would probably at least try. My wallet is near empty. If it does fail, you can always just swap the N5 camera back in. Let us know if your going to move forward with the modding, I'd like to see that!
subscribed! I would honestly be more interested in having a camera app with the same iq and speed of the G2 Camera
bump, would like to know if that is possible too! I think we would need to modify a kernel and have a new camera app/drivers, but if hardware supports it, why not! Any testers? :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: Cheaper module: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4d1cd1ac7a
EDIT2: an even cheaperer module http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2c80ba1e8b

Firstly I am a realist and that is because of my second point, which is that it can't be done. Try and prove me wrong if you like but I accept no responsibility for your device
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Why can't it be done? I think with some kernel and android tweaking we could get that working, am I wrong? I've checked, they are the same connectors. I see only two problems that might stop from using G2's camera - no hardware support (which I think should be there as they are almost the same phones), or no one smart/determined enough to get it working on software. If I get it working somehow on hardware level and prove it to you (I don't even imagine how, but what if), would you help me with making it run properly? I am not saying that this is really possible, I am saying that no one knows that for sure (maybe exept LG).
Then buy it, do it and get it over with. Btw, it wont work.
We can make it shoot videos in 8k 120fps too :silly:
Seriously though, if it was possible, it would have been done already.

When it comes to any kind of porting, on any device that's been out awhile.....I always say this!
If it were possible, especially on a nexus, it would have been done by now.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Camera App on Nexus 5

Hello everybody
I just bought the N5 32GB version, but I thought it would be possible to have the S4's camera app on this device since it has more functions than the n5's stock camera app. I woukd also be interesting to have the dual camera function in order to take two pics simultaneously (front and back camera). Playstore don't offer much, or are not comparable with the s4 camera. May you tell me where to download it or if there is a special version for ours n5?
Thanks.
Nothing yet
Probably won't since Samsung has an entire set of weird proprietary drivers.

Won't work, uses Samsung's proprietary framework. Some alternatives you can look at include Focal in the play store, and a few developers here are working on an LG G2 port and a Lenovo port. I can't believe how bad the stock camera has gotten which each android update. Google keeps removing settings and customization options. Why in the world do they think the end user only wants to change one setting at a time? I really dislike how the settings close as soon as you make one change.

I don't have an alternative unfortunately. The stock camera app may not have too many features, but it serves all my purposes well.
Snap Camera seems fine, but it doesn't have as much features as S4, unfortunately.
In s3 never Achieved the port. Here I see impossible.
Sorry for my bad english.

moto g camera issue

Recently I bought MOTO G. And I was taking pictures and I see some distortion in image captured so I ignored few pictures but then I see that type of picture is not single time issue. I am not sure if it is hardware fault or something else.
Sample picture is attached with this post.
Let me know if you guys have any idea. Is it because of some hardware fault?

You could try and root your device and try another ROM. If you use search you come across similar issues on the XDA forum. In some cases this has to do with software and a specific camera setting. But if you are still on stock rom you can also just return the device and say the camera is faulty.

Well, I don't speak spanish (I think that's it ^^) but it looks like you just want to control your phone from the pc. Check out BBQScreen, this app does exactly what I think you want.
Edit: This app currently doesn't work on Lollipop, so if you have android 5.0 you will have to wait for the fix (like me )
