Hi guys I made a skin for my HTC EVO shift today using a chromebook, some old skins, some pngs from a cm7 theme and some sorta zipsigner for Android. The bug at hand is the indicator on the homescreen over the dock is recognizing the dock as an arc and not a flat dock, so its curving down into my dock png when I scroll over.

You'll probably have to change the indicator pngs, I remember seeing a couple skins with a flat indicator... I just searched Sense 2.3 skins when I had the device

Well uh i have another problem, I don't know how to change the name of the skin. Do you know how to do this? I looked on a few forums and apparently there's a folder in /res/ called values and I have to edit the strings.xml and in all my skins there's no values folder at all.

Sorry it's been to long. I joined the dark side and have been on Samsung for awhile.
The only way to see the Values folders is by decompiling the apk with apktool.
There is an apktool for Android now... It's still beta but I've got a link if you guys want it
HERE is a noob friendly tool I've used to decompile apks. It may be helpful to you.

I have searched for themes (although admittedly not all that hard as I am searching on my Vox on EDGE) and all of the custom ones I can find are very visually busy and/or hard to read.
I just want onto that is nice and simple with no unnecessary words, logos, or anything else.
But I want it to display:
MRU
profile
next 2 appts (I'll settle for one)
SMS/MMS/email
time, date
Anyone know where to find some?
Well since I couldn't find any I just made* my own. (*made meaning compiled and tweaked, not created)
Here it it: (for a first try, I think it is not too bad)

Thanks.
I would if I knew how.
SUper!
Hi CHillin,
I am also on ROgers. Can you tell me what is your "receipe" for getting your home screen installed with wich plugin etc.
Regards,
JL
I think this is all you need.... I think.
I used Facade, Endless (attached), HTC Home (attached), and a pic I took using with the Vox's cam (attached)
Colour Scheme: Endless: Blue
Wallpaper: IMAGE_004
I have attached the xml file, that I Think will give you the layout. Since I can't attach xml files I added .txt to the end of the file name. So simply delete ".txt" from the file name after you download it and it should work.
Actually I think you will need this one too.
Hello everyone,
I'm skinning my keyboard and so for it looks good IMO, but I want to change the fonts.
Here is the photoshop PSD I made:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is what is how it looks on the phone:
I want the upper light grey row(with 1, 2, 3 @, etc) to be entirely removed or invisible and the black text should move up some pixels and preferrably be in bold instead of regular.
The thing I want most is the upper grey row with alternative symbols removed, then I can edit my images to place them under the black qwerty.
I know how to edit the XML's but I have no idea where the data is stored and after which byte sequence.
I hope someone can enlighten me on this (ohsaka?).

There threads in the themes and wallpapers section of the forum about editing the keyboard.
I wonder where, beause search only showed up this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512285&highlight=keyboard
which isn't what I'm looking for.
This thread should be moved to themes section..
However I appreciate the work you're doing
Hope you'll find the solution
Actually this is development because we're changing sources, not images...
I suggest modifying the google keyboard since sources are available. Look in resources/inputmethods/LatinIME

I think that the two keyboards are not comparable
Moreover Google one only supports English
damn can't wait for someone to help him on this!!
Been trying to figure this myself a while now. Wanting white text.
I know there is an older version of HTC_IME without the long presses, not sure if you can still find one somewhere, maybe off an early H build?
are you still workin on this project too
how do you get to edit the xml?
I've taken it upon myself to AOSP-ize a Sense ROM in the most complete way possible. I've done pretty well so far but I seem to have hit a snag. I swiped the stock MMS app from CM6 and pasted it into myn no problem, but I can't for the life of me figure out why it's framing the black background in white:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It looks fine with the white background, but as soon as I switch to the dark the frame remains. I cycled through all the images for both my framework and the MMS app itself but I can't find anything... Thoughts? Am I missing something?
I'm not a Dev. But maybe it needs resized. Because it doesn't look like it's filling the screen

It looks like the background is set to white, with black and gray list items on top. The color setting is most likely in styles.xml or in one of the layout files.
I thought about that too knoc, but I don't think its the case because the text field stretches, and that's part of the app. I may be wrong though.
jj, I haven't played with xml files yet but ill give it a shot. Thanks.
Have you edited any .9.png files? if so you might want to check into those.

yep, looks like a draw9 patch bug to me too. something isn't stretching right.
So did you modify any xml's? Or are you just copying and paisting. The reason I ask is that by your description is sounds like the padding is all f'd up. I know there is a flashable zip that removes sense if you want that. You will have to check around on here to find it.
Can anyone provide these icons and dock, im on a CM7 ROM and can't find the jpg's at all. Oh and the included "phone" text next to the phone icon aswell, your help is much appreciated guys.

I can't provide those for you, but i can tell you those are stock HTC sense icons and it looks like a dock for one of myn's evo roms. Could be wrong on the second part, but that screenshot looks like it's from a sense rom.
Use Root Explorer and copy and paste the System apk, phone apk and whatever other apk that relates to the other icons onto your SD card. Then copy them all to your PC and extract each apk...one at a time so as not to lose track of each...with 7-Zip. Then look in the "res" > "drawable HDMI" folders for the icons and dock.
The apks will be in the "system" > "app" folders.
Oh ok ill try that and see what works, thank you guys I appreciate your efforts!

Oh no man not the sense icons on the homescreen, but the icons used for the phone, app drawer, and adding widgets down on the dock there.
Hey all.. I've searched everywhere, modified all sorts of files/png's... I can't seem to get the blue background for the touchwiz quickpanel to change.
What apk? I assume it's SystemUI.apk. Which file? Is it a PNG or is it an XML edit?
One more.. the green bar below the quickpanel icon (the on/off indicator).. same question as above. What file is it?
What I'm talking about:

Like I said.. I've searched everywhere, read all sorts of threads, edited all sorts of XML/PNGs... Need help!
Thanks all.
Inside SystemUI/res/drawable named as tw_quick_panel*.9.png. To modify 9.png format (stretchable png), you need a special editor draw9patch from Android SDK. I had no experience editing 9.png file
Or you can make suitable size toggles and put then in drawable folder and then give reference to them in toggles xml file!!!!
@ketut I think toggles png s are not in .9 format!!!!!
but even if they are above method will work and will probably save you from messing with .9 png files
