So I recently dropped my phone in the sink while the water was running. I quickly removed it but water had already seeped inside, causing the screen to go crazy and then it was just a blank white.
I could see the water making its way up through the screen so I dried it off as much as I could and proceeded with the rice technique. After leaving it there for the past three days, I finally took it out this morning and turned it on.
It works! (Well I can see everything on the screen and the touch is fine as I am typing with it right now). Only thing is, it has left something behind. Looks like maybe some moisture is still in there and maybe pressed against the screen.
Based on the pic attached, you think I need a new screen? Or should I take it in to the repair shop and have them look to see if it is just extra moisture that needs to be dried?
Anyone ever seen this before? Really love this phone!
It works fine otherwise. Camera, headphone jack etc.

Instead of rice, buy some desiccant. Google it. If you live in a medium to large city, you can get it locally.

So I was coming home from work 2 weeks ago, and managed to leak some water onto my EPad in my bag
I thought that was it! But, it does power on, only there is no backlight on the screen, so I can't see anything.
I've tried hairdryer, airing cupboard etc. but still not change. I've had it open, but couldn't see any water in there, and can't get to the screen at all.
Any experience on this would be greatly appreciated?
Turn off put in rice bag don't touch for 1 week

You shouldn't have turned it on. Should have put in a bag of rice and kept it there for at least a week.
It looks like you fried your lcd, and possibly some other components.
Go ahead with the rice bag and see what happens. It is now doubtful that you will recover it.

Check your pm. Wish you the best of luck.
Jumped into the pool with it in my pocket. It spent about 10 seconds submerged. Popped the battery out as soon as possible and ran home and put it in a bag of rice for 2 days. Its working fine but the screen has these transparent black thingies in like the back that makes part of the screen darker at some parts at one angle but not at another. Looks like a coating. It looks kind of 3D. Just wondering if you can fix this by replacing the lcd. Also i was wondering, do you think I could sell it for $50-100 with the screen as is? Everything else is in working condition. Nothing gone wrong, just the screen.
Im willing to trade this and $200 for a galaxy nexus.

You can probly sell it for 100 easy if you keep it rooted depends on your area.
My first g2x fell in a bucket of water. It fell in a puddle of water fell under running water spilled juice on it by my son and more and still worked flawlessly lol guess I'm just lucky

I have mine rooted and on Hellfire Phoenix 2.2. Wow, if I can sell it at 100 with the screen as is, that would be great. Where would be the best place? Im thinking ebay or craigslist

I say try Craigslist first that's where I usually sell my stuff quick and easy no fees. And like I said also depends on your area. Here in NY you can get rid of it quick for a easy hundred maybe more of you catch someone that barely knows about it

Maybe, if you do what I did with your phone it will get your phone working again.
I resurrected an iBook which had a lot of water spilled into it. I partially disassembled it and sprayed non-conductive switch and contact cleaner into it until it was saturated with it (it poured out when I held it sideways). I left it sitting for a day then I thoroughly sprayed it with compressed air so that it blew through the insides. I put it back together and turned it on and it worked again perfectly. The switch and contact cleaner has to be safe for plastic or it will melt it. I used a can of IDEAL brand. Also, don't spray it in an enclosed place, do it outdoors because the fumes are very bad for you.
If you don't do that, replacing the LCD will cost much less than selling or trading your G2X and spending $200 on a Nexus.

The phone is working now, but the lcd has those transparent shade spots/streaks on it. The shady spots seem to be growing every day. It kind of looks like bacteria growth. I have a feeling some coating got washed out, but some how its coming back.

Alright, the lcd is fine after giving it some time, now the microphone isn't working. It probably wasn't working before, but is it easy to replace it?

what i love about this phone is that its very easy to take apart , so replacing the lcd isnt that hard if it got water damaged, replacing the mic is a lot easier that in the nokia late models

Hi there,
I have the Sony Smartwatch 2 since it was just released.
I ordered it via the Sony website, so it was delivered from Czech.
Anwyays... the Smartwatch 2 worked pretty fine for me so far.
Unfortunately, I experienced something strange yesterday.
Yesterday I noticed that the on/off button wasn't working properly anymore.
I wondered how this was possible, and then I noticed that the screen was a little bit lifted out of the case.
I could push the screen back in place, and the on/off button worked fine again too, although it seems it comes back up a little bit after a while.
I have seen this before in a video where they showed the watch at a conference, so it seems to be a common issue.
Does anyone have this too? and what did you do to solve it? Because I would hate to send it back.
Right now I'm actually waiting till it comes off a bit more, so I can place a little tip of glue beneath the screen (if there is a safe place for that beneath the screen), so it won't lift up again.
I had it too.
I put a little pinch of glue in the rear of the watch and all is good now.
its not the screen lifting. The actual watch hardware is glued into a frame of the wrist band. The glue is simply coming undone.
Yep, I've been able to completely push the watch out of it's frame.
Used some glue on the frame, and pulled it back in.
Let's hope it stays there now.
The glue that was on it already propably became loose when I took the watch under the shower?
Although... it should not do that, because it's waterproof.
Them problem as with mine, I got the watch off my arm and the clock pops out off the holding

I've been under the shower for a few times with it, so it's definitely waterproof.
Although, that the glue came loose might be the result of that.

This is definitely BS. I shower with it every single day and didn't have any problem at all.

Maybe if you shower 50 minutes with boiling water... I repeat, I think I had like 60 showers with the watch on (and even pressing the power button or tinkering with the screen to change song etc.) and zero problems.

Not BS. I just received my replacement watch. I felt the original vibrate, looked down, and watched the screen fade out. Never to come back after 4 days of drying it out with a small fan on it.
I am rubbing silicone grease in the cracks and charge plug on the replacement. I ride a motorcycle year round. I need some water resistance and my first one had very little.

It's my first Sony device, so it's not a good device to impress people who are new to Sony hahaha.
But I love the Smartwatch though
SONY is for target practice. You spend about $750 on their latest technology and then have it work for about 2 years at the most, then put it up on a pedestal to play target practice with your new .9mm. You get to vent the frustrations of buying such an expensive and overpriced device and promise yourself you won't do it again.
When they talk about cheaply designed, overpriced, Chinese assembled items on Black Friday, they are talking about SONY.
I saw posts before about screens popping out, but thought it was just that and hoped it wouldn't happen to mine
wish I had read this topic before, I have the exact same thing, this build quality is REALLY poor
seems this is happening to quite a few people, I think they used the wrong glue
would certainly explain why the watch isn't waterproof for everyone
I have a problem with my watch, I broke the screen and I cant find the replacement, if you have a unusable sw2 maybe you can sell me the part that I need, please PM with any response, thanks
So I put my phone on the kitchen counter not realizing it was slightly wet, I went to pick it up and it looked like this. Seems like water damage, but touchscreen works fine in all areas. Phone is currently in a bag of rice. Anything I can do about this?
I should add that left my phone screen down with a case and screen protector. However when I went to take of the case the inside of the back of the case was slightly wet.

Yep it is. You're doing the right thing with the dry rice though. Since your warranty is already voided technically you may consider taking it apart to let it dry out better.

If I wanted to replace this it would be the digitizer right? My concern is that If my phone does end up working properly after a few days or so, that color separation would look so weird.
EDIT: After deciding to turn the phone in after 30 hours in rice, the colors started to return to normal after another day to where screen is back to normal.
Hi everybody,
Please read the first 2 paras for my story. My question is in the 3rd para. \
So 3 days back i went for a freshwater swim with my friends in a river and I took my phone out to take pictures coz its waterproof. But unfortunately I ran into some issues. First, it started registering touches underwater and that annoyed me. So I merely locked the phone and used the camera button to shoot. I shot a couple of pics underwater and when i was about to shoot the third above water, the screen got unresponsive/
It did not register any touches from my fingers even after i've completely dried it out. I rebooted it (via hard reset buttons) but did not help so i switched it off and kept. I came back and switched it on but it didnt even turn the screen on. So i dipped it in a rice bag.
The good news is, after two days in the rice bag, the fogginess within the camera lens is gone. So i believe its progressing. However, when i turn the phone on, it comes to the lockscreen and starts flickering big time, and the whole display goes black (but backlight stays on). Then i lock the device and unlock it a few times and the screen turns on again, flickering heavily.
I put it back to dry but, i am wondering if anyone knows what kind of hardware damage this is. Is this simply something i can dry off? Or should I take it to a service center (i have no warranty so I will have to pay)?
Are the touches not being recorded because of water interference? Or is something physically damaged?
Thank you very much for reading and attempting to answer.
It is hardware issue, should have tested the water proof ness when you got the z3. There's no way you can fix this. If you're able to somehow argue youf way through to point out that it is defected when you got it then it should be covered by sony... Anyway good luck buddy.

Thank you very much for your response. I will try to do that! The thing is i did test it. The pressure test. And then i submerged it in a bowl of water too.. Nothing happened. But that was about 3 weeks prior to this incident. Anyway thanks again.

did you some how within that 3 weeks bent the phone or caused the CPU to heat up badly to the point it melted the glue?
on mine i just noticed there is a slight bump (back glass) on the power button side, not sure was it there a week ago when i got it, but definitely keeping an eye on it.
hope everything works out for you bud.

Heat up badly.. hmm yes at one point when i was taking photos out in direct sunlight. It heated up and switched off the camera. Oh im sorry to hear that man. Make sure you get a case or something before you dip it in water. I just recalled that the last time i immersed it in water, i had the case on. Maybe that's why I didn't get any water damage.
