I think your knox counter was tripped (yes, you have it) and no, there is no safestrap available for this phone model.
If you're on the ml1 base you're stuck with root only. Any attempt to downgrade or flash a custom recovery will result in a softbrick.

Thank you

Can the warranty bit (at least as it's shown in Odin mode) be set or reset from 1 to 0?

Nope, not the warranty bit, only the flash count.

I was afraid of that. I need to send the device back to Verizon but soon as they see that they'll charge me something outrageous. Well, at least I know not to pay for the warranty coverage anymore. Thanks for you quick reply!!!

SUCCESS !!! Knox 0x0 with Mobile Odin Pro 3.85 !!!

I would like to report that at least we have SUCCESSFULLY flashed and rooted MJ7 UK firmware using Mobile Odin Pro 3.85.
This is for the SM-N9005 Qualcomm Snapdragon model.
We were originally rooted on MJ1 by using Root de la Vega, with Knox 0x0, which made the Mobile Odin flash possible.
SUCCESSFUL FIRMWARE VERSIONS ROOTABLE: MI7, MJ1, MJ3
UNSUCCESSFUL ROOT :MJ6 and later
NOTE: THIS DOES NOT RESET YOUR KNOX if it is 0x1.
Originally reported in a Malaysia forum here: - XDA user williamyi (WiLyi on Lowyat.net forum) was the first user to report trying this method with success. Thank him in post 2 !!

Knox remains 0x0
All we need to do is to to reinstall Xposed and its mods.
Thanks @Chainfire !!!!!
Many other XDA users are also now reporting success by flashing to MJ7 using this method.
Steps: (thanks to WiLyi of Lowyat.net forum) aka @williamyi in XDA
1. Download UK MJ7 firmware.
2. Extract the tar.md5 (I placed in internal SD - not sure if this make any differences)
3. Open the tar.md5
4. Check:
i. Everroot
ii. Inject SuperSU
iii. Inject Mobile Odin
5. Flash
NOTE: Mobile Odin will throw a standard warning about tripping Knox. That can be ignored (we did). Remember to tick Everroot so that you will be rooted immediately upon flashing.
NOTE: Mobile Odin "A compatible device was detected, but with an unexpected partition layout. Mobile ODIN cannot operate. This is a common error on CM and MIUI ROMs on some devices."
This can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling SuperSU or its updates.

I had initially rooted with the Root de la Vega method, and Knox was still 0x0. I wanted to test a newer ROM MJ7 so after @williamyi had succeeded I tried as well.
We're all happy campers now.

I have rooted the firmware using Root De La Vega since day the early days and gotten the root access without tripping the knox.
This time I flash the UK's MJ7 firmware using Mobile Odin Pro 3.85 and successfully update the firmware from the first MJ1 to the latest MJ7 without tripping the knox as shown in the first link in the first post

Dam is there no way to root mj7? I tried to root it using odin and URDLV but every time I try I get the odin fail error and it doesn't work

Which firmware are you in now? As far as I know firmware later than BMJ1 comes with a new bootloader.
You may try to root it using URDLV first before flashing to later firmware using Mobile Odin. Alternatively you may try method in post 8

Please do mention that it is only for SM-N9005 only. I hope that N900 gets some good stuff as well

Also add that this is tested on MJ1 bootloader only. URDLV will definitely trip MJ3 bootloader and above. Dunno about MOP.
Add another to the success stories, still had/have the MJ1 bootloader, now up to MJ7.

awww I was actually hoping you mean like flashing a recovery or kernel with mobileodin and keeping the knox 0x0 ;P... too much wishful thinking I guess.....
I was running MI7 firmware with root but after flashing to MJ8 firmware, I lost root. Knox is still 0x0
Can I downgrade the firmware back to MI7 and root it again with RDLV method and then use mobileodin to update firmware?

MJ8? Are you using HK firmware? Not sure if the bootloader is the same in MJ7 or not, but if they are using a new bootloader, then I believe there is no way to downgrade the bootloader

No..you cannot as you already have new bootloader when your flash the MJ8 firmware. Even if you use RDLV..you will still trip your Knox as RDLV meant to those who still on the old bootloader.

If you flashed the MJ8 file as it comes straight from Samsung then no, you can't downgrade without triggering the Knox counter.
If it was a URDLV version then yeah.

[Q] Really Weird GS3 thing (No Knox on 4.3)

So I just got a refurb'd gs3 and I checked the apps and it doesn't appear to have Knox, but it's on 4.3? It says it's on build JSS15J.I535VRUCML1 and that the baseband is ML1, but there doesn't appear to be knox on it. Also, when I boot to recovery or whatever, it says Bootloader SWREV: 1 or something like that. Is it safe to assume that it was previously unlocked and I can install a custom rom or something? I was gonna try the standard saferoot at first.

Knox is there and your bootloader is still locked. You have to root with saferoot. Everything you need is here:

does flashing stock rom via odin affect anything on the download mode screen

i am thinking to get the s6 and i dont think i can give up on root so i heard there is a root method pingpong does not trip knox if i do it
can i install custom recovery on it without tripping knox or anything else on download mode
if i restore to stock will everything stays the same?
thank you in advance
You can root without tripping the KNOX with Ping Pong Root , but if you flash unsigned software like custom recovery or custom ROM the knox will trip and you will loose the warranty.

There is something strange about knox. I flashed BTU(UK) stock ROM on my XXV(vietnam) SM-920F brand new phone using odin 3.10.6. And hell, knox is tripped now. Strange? Anybody any clues?

I'm so glad i saw this, i was about to do the same. Got all my backups ready to flash and wipe to change the CSC to BTU (from EVR). So your KNOX has tripped, how was this confirmed?
Were you able to do anything since tripping it?
Thanks

Knox Warranty void 0*0
CSC Country Nigeria/NG

About Flashing android 7.0 in sm-g930f

i have galaxy s7 ( sm-g930f), is it safe installing the nougat of UK ( BTU ), it won't affect my warranty ? because i will take my phone in few weeks to after sale services to fix camera problem

No it won't. Knox pass warranty is only when you flash custom rom or when you root the rom. No warranty broken when Samsung officiel rom is flashed.
You can flash nougat without issue.

also my phone originally isn't BTU it is WTL so it won't be there any issues ?
With my phone, XEF is still my CSC after flashing Nougat then... Maybe you will be still with WTL maybe BTU. But the CSC can be changed by reflashing other odin package.
Keep BTU is not a problem, you will still get updates.

Unroot S8 with current partcyborg ROM, safestrap, and TWRP

So I'm trying to unroot my S8. It's a verizon variant, G950U. I have partcyborg ROM installed, along with safestrap and TWRP.
I am using stock Odin 3.12 and it keeps giving me this message no matter what I do. (<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1))
I have tried using the latest USC firmware found on updato and no dice.
I have tried using the latest VZW firmware found on updato and no dice.
I cannot use chainfire because I have lost root and cannot get it back (SU binaries occupied)
I have tried extracting the PIT file and flashing that, no dice.
I'm really at a loss. I thought it would be easy peezy, just put it in download mode, flash BL, AP, CP and be done with it, but I'm not having any luck.
Any ideas on how to get me back to stock?
Did you try a modified odin? I've never rooted, but it seems like I've read that somewhere.
