I've been using HTC Desire s just for 1 week, it's good device but can't use a day after full change morning. I hate the battery life iphone but it is worse. Do you know how to get the battery life better this HTC Desire s ?
I've done 2 things like below.
1. 10 Tips for saving HTC Desire
2. Once full charge after battery dead(100% consumption)
Any better idea ? Thanks in advance.

Same to me. 30 hours is max. This is not very good....
I also have the same as if I leave my desire S in stand by for 6 hours it loss 50% of charging and I sure that everything are closed (Wi Fi , Bluetooth , GPS , data connection , Application) so pls can anyone advise if this is special problem on my phone or it's generally in all Desire S
I find the battery quite good actually.... I normally charge it over night and have at least 25% left, normally towards 50 depending on how much angry birds i played
I have WiFi or 3g enabled, no gps or bt

Perhaps you can install battery monitor to find the cause...

I'm getting around 30 hours before my nerve goes and I charge it up again at about 25%, but I'm still using the phone quite a bit more than the dumb-phones I've had in the past.
Check: Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use
Essential apps:
Battery Monitor Widget
Power Monitor Widget
Screen Filter
I have the screen set to auto brightness, but use Screen Filter to reduce the overall brightness to (say) 50% outdoors, 35% indoors, and 25% in the evening.
I find the biggest drain on the battery is the display, but maybe that's because I've reduced a lot of the syncing.
In "Accounts & sync", I've disabled syncing for most things, especially HTC Sense; Weather widget updates every 3 hours, other things every hour or so.
WiFi is usually off, though even when it's on, it doesn't drain the battery much.
I get the worst battery drain when playing games or watching video, especially with the brightness turned up.
GPS is enabled, but rarely in use. 3G coverage near me is poor, so I'm usually on 2G only.

Try these:
-wifi settings advanced setting for sleep after 15mins
-usb debugging on
-cancel auto sync OR sync frequency for all those things that like synching all time
-change email sync (default is every hour)
-change weather update
-turn off gps
-screen sleep quicker
there are some apps which are poorly put together and can drain battery, i had problem with android market fault and had to reinstall it, also 3g watchdog had an issue before
the desire s battery is better than most android phones, certainly one of the best compared to other htc phones so battery life shouldnt be an issue..
I get two days use. I consider myself an average user. Calls, sms and internet browsing.

Don't use Screen Filter unless your intention is to reduce glare when using your phone in darkness. It will not save you any power if you are using an LCD display. and

If all you do most of the time is idling, it should last a couple of days.
My experiences:
I always using all features in mobiles such as localisation, 3G, wifi, synchronization always on. I'm doing this because phone is for me/I am not for phone
Some stats on Desire S:
-wifi only(mobile network off) 60 min of video, 10 mins voice calls, few text, few emails, few webpages 50% screen brightness
result: 27 hours
-wifi off(mobile network on) 60 min of video, 10 mins voice calls, few text, few emails, few webpages, 50% screen brightness
result: 22 hours!!!
Cmon HTC, this are very bad stat!
Anyone know is that good stats? Please don't tell me to switch off this and that...If We will be thinking in this way maybe we just put mobile on air plane mode, set birightness to 20% and then We will get around 40 hours.
Do You think, that custom roms can help with it?

Just curious. Did any of you do the battery calibration thingy?

Of course I did. I always doing calibration even if now is not necessary...
I have WiFi, BlueTooth, 3G on all the time. Sync on and the device is in background alone collection app. 3MB of data.
If I don't use the phone, then it uses app. 15-20% of battery a day.
I can use the phone app. 5-6 hours a day for browsing, install programs etc.
I thing that is a full days use.
I have turned off auto brightness, as I don't think it is working. In normal day light I set the light to 50% which is nice for the eyes. (Auto mode goes to almost 100% all the time, which uses more power.)

I'm trying to do a few 100% charge to discharges to help bed my battery bed in. Today seems a lot better than yesterday. I have the birghtness on low and have been listening to mp3's off the phone all morning. Its been off battery since 7.20am and its now 11.20am so 4hours with a little browsing and the battery is at 72% which seems pretty good to me.
The only thing thats confusing me is in the battery usage options are as follows:
Screen = 50%
Media Server = 18%
MixZing = 11%
Is media server related to listening to music or do I have the problem outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345584
I might try a reset letter and not use the mp3 and see if its still there.
Do other One S users have the same thing?
Cheers

I just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT - N8000) as I observed, I only got 8 hours in my first recharge, then 2nd 12 hours, 3rd 13 hours and 43 minutes.... It seems like a get a really short battery life.... I only use it for browsing the web (chrome), playing some games (temple run, pitfall, beach buggy and more), and flipboard..... My brightness is set to Auto, Power Saving is on when I reached 10% and my SIM is active but mobile data is off... Is there something wrong with my tablet? Thanks in advance for the reply! :cyclops:
is that screen time? or does it drain simply sitting idle. I get about 10 hours of up time for the screen. sometimes don't charge for 3-4 days if I'm not using it much. btw mine is WiFi only, are you roaming or searching for signal often?
Use power save mode if your doing light browsing ect. 8to 12 is what you can expect from a tablet. Screen time that is.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - Battery Life
The key here people is the brightness setting.
I personally get 5 hours 30 mins screen time on Full Brightness with Wi-fi & Mobile active, not using Power Saver.
With 15% battery remaining, never run your lithium-iron battery too low, can shorten the life span.
Here are some other peoples figures:
(8 hours and 15 minutes - Continuous Video Playback, Auto Brightness)
In practice, the slate lasts a bit longer than 8 hours and 15 minutes with continuous video playback, and anywhere from 8 hours to 9 hours and 40 minutes with more varied usage (smaller video games without loads of graphics, web browsing, e-mails, photo editing and some video).

Video Battery Life 9.6hrs.

(8 hours plus - Mixed Usage - Power Save Mode)
In a single charge from its proprietary cable, the Galaxy Note 10.1 with its 7,000mAh battery should last you all day. In a mixed scenario of browsing, video and productivity, it lasted us well over eight hours, though that was with the Power Savings setting activated.

(5 hours 17 minutes - Continuous Mobile Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
(8 hours 57 minutes - Continuous Wi-fi Surfing - Suspect Auto Bright)
The Galaxy Note 10.1 for Verizon lasted just 5 hours and 17 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE). When we switched off LTE and ran the test over the Note 10.1's Wi-Fi connection, battery life increased to 8 hours and 57 minutes.

(5 hours - Heavy Usage - Full Brightness)
(6 hours - Regular Usage - Suspect Full Brightness)
We managed around five hours of intensive punishment (streaming and looping an HD video on full brightness). This equates to around six to seven hour of regular use.

My S7 drains like 7 percent from 100% fully charged to 93 or even to 90% sometimes overnight without even touching it. Services running are system sync, email sync every 1 hour, and only system apps running in the background. No Google voice command. Is this normal?
Below screenshot was taken just a min ago. I was watching 720p videos for 3 hours with max screen resolution and brightness set to halfway.
To all those who claim to get over 7 hours screen on time, especially by using debloat scripts, using adb to uninstall/ disable pre-installed apps and services, other tweaks, etc.:
Please do us a favour when posting your battery stats:
1. Use your phone in manual brightness mode with brightness set at 50% (if you want, you can increase but not decrease).
2. Do NOT watch videos (local or streaming) for more than 30 minutes during the day.
3. Do not use any app (like browser) for more than 2 hours during the day.
4. If you're having dual SIM, leave both ON.
Now post your battery stats.
In cases where I see people claiming great battery life, I see that much of the battery savings happen because the user was mostly watching videos at very low brightness or just using one or two apps for more than 50% of the time.
These are NOT typical usage. We need to evaluate the effectiveness of changes done by using the phone normally.
For a smartphone, normal usage means leaving all the smart features ON, including but not limited to, WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth, Location, Auto-Brightness, etc. Also keep display resolution at maximum and screen refresh rate at Adaptive (or auto managed by system).
Thanks.
Screen on time without using apps or streaming video? That doesn't make sense. You're basically saying don't use the phone and just leave the screen on. Sounds like a recipe for burn in.
No one is going to leave their screen on without using their phone. Whether it's gaming, social media, streaming media, or web browsing, "screen on time" infers that the user is actually using the phone. Battery age also plays a huge part - my Pixel 5 when new could easily manage 8+ hours of YouTube, but 3 years later it would probably only manage 5 or so....I'm not sure because I keep it plugged in.
"Normal usage" is subjective. My normal usage involves social media and streaming media. Others might do a lot of gaming, which is particularly power intensive. Others might simply use their device as a phone/PDA.

You're saying to limit usage to 2 hours 30 minutes or less, but why would someone's screen be on if they aren't using their device?

I was referring specifically to just video watching or using just one or two apps for an extended amount of time. Normal usage would involve a lot more like phone calls, video calls, chat, social media, etc.
In most battery stats that show a high SOT, I see that videos pretty much are the main usage (like 4 to 5 hours), browser for a couple of hours, and rarely or minimal use of other apps.
I too can get 7 hours or more of SOT on my S22U if I only watch YouTube at night (minimum brightness). But that isn't typical usage. On an average, I get only about 5 hours of SOT and a standby of about 12 hours (17 hours since last charge) when the battery is around 15%.
Just to prove my point, I'm attaching battery stats from two different devices that demonstrate phenomenal battery life.
In both cases, I used the phones primarily for video streaming over Bluetooth and browsing the internet. Although the Motorola phone has only the most essential apps, the iQOO phone is pretty much a full setup.
I did NOT use any debloat scripts or uninstall apps using ADB. I simply disabled unnecessary apps and services wherever the system settings allowed me to.
CONCLUSION
The battery life is largely a function of the quality of apps installed, network reception and screen brightness. Debloat scripts and other battery saving tips often only provide a placebo effect.
