[Q] Replacing the Contacts App - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm looking for a way to replace my Samsung GS3's contacts app with an ASOP style app (CM would be best for me). I used to run CM but through a long story my phone was returned to stock and had the 4.3 OTA installed on it. I'm stuck now.
I managed to replace the Samsung Email app with the CM 10.2 version of same and thanks to Google releasing their Calendar app on the Play Store I just disabled S Planner (hate it) and use that. The only one left is the god-awful contacts app. I tried using the same process I did for the email app, which was to wipe data and remove the Samsung email apps accounts and then use Titanium Backup to uninstall it. I then went and put the Email.apk file from CyanogenMod 10.2 in its place. Worked like a charm for email but the contacts app keeps telling me there is an error with the package when I do this.
I also tried using both Contacts.apk and ContactsProvider.apk but that didn't work either. Anyone have an ideas? The problem is no matter what I do the system won't recognize Contacts.apk as an app and list it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the contacts app relies on the phone app as well to work properly. You might be better off trying to find a contacts app from the store that is similar to CM

[Q] Contacts and Calendar

Will be getting my G Tablet this week ( cant wait to join you all) and just curious if the built in Contacts and calendar can sync with Google. I plan on using the stock rom . Maybe switch off the dashboard but want to sync with google. I will add the enhancment package to get the market and Gmail but I badly want to see my google calendar. I know I can flash Vegan etc but I dont want to. Was really hoping there was a way to get the stock calendar and contacts to sync. OR a way to get them onto the G Tablet since I will not use the dashboard I dont care if they replace the stock.
Thanks and I cant wait to join this awesome group of G Tablet owners.
Hmm. Since I don't know any other way to get gapps other than flashing the zip in clockwork mod you may have to use a market calander app. All I have used sync perfectly with Google's calandar.
Contacts are a different story. You may have to see if someone can pull the apk from titanium backup and send it to you. Hell you may get lucky doing a Google search for the stock apks. God luck

Syncing facebook contacts

So I installed the bionix rom and for some reason it doesn't allow me to sync my Facebook contacts with my phone contacts. I've tried from the Facebook app
and it doesn't even have the option anymore. I've also tried from the accounts section and when I click on add it just goes back to the accounts screen. Please help!

It's gone in 2.3.X. HTC and Samsung somehow still do it via Sense and Touchwiz which is why their 2.3.X. phones still do it. Native Android, not so much.

Try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nloko.android.syncmypix&feature=search_result
Should do the trick.
Facebook contact sync does not work with Gingerbread at all. The functionality was purposely removed in 2.3. Your only option is a 3rd party app like the one mentioned above.

[Q] How to replace HTC Messages app with Android Messaging app?

I tried using the stock android MMS.apk from Nocturnal_Xi40_One_X_r107 ROM but it force closes every time I try to send an SMS.
I backed up then uninstalled the HTC Messages app using TitaniumBackup, then pushed the stock android MMS.apk to /system/apps/ and restarted the phone. I tried it both with HtcMessageProvider installed and uninstalled as I don't know what it does. I didn't try it with HtcMessageUploader uninstalled.
Any input would be appreciated.
I was able to install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.concentriclivers.mms.com.android.mms but ended up going back to the HTC Messages app because I liked the functionality better. This whole thing started for me because I removed HtcLinkifyDispatcher so that my youtube (and other) web links would work like stock ICS (not the bastardized HTC/AT&T approach) - but when I removed that I couldn't open links from inside the Messages app. Really need to find a way to avoid the AT&T-specific link handling while still using HTC Messages...

[Q] Email APK - CM11S - Help Needed

I have a Oneplus One phone running CM11S. I am not a fan of the basic Google email app that runs my exchange email. I actually like the email apps that are available on the LG G3 or the Samsung S5. Is it possible to load their Email APK onto my phone running CM11S to handle my exchange account. I found the LG G3 email apk but can not get it to install.
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Many system apps can not be used on another phone as you wish.
If it will work, you need to put it in system/apps folder, fix permissions to match the other apps there (rw r r), then reboot and see if it works. That is the only way, if it will work.

Cant restore Samsung "Messages" app in Titanium.

Right now I'm using AOSP messaging app off play store. I was trying to get back the samsung one for s-note integration, even though im not sure i'll ever use it. It just states it stopped working after titanium reinstall.
