hi guys, this is my fisrt post but i'm following this forum since a year, anyway i have a sgs3 i9300 rooted and i was wondering if there's a way to protect my phone to prevent a reset/flash from downloadmode or recovery mode, like a sort of bios password for pc. i think it could be useful in case of stolen/lost phone
in other words I don't want anyone else can shutdown my phone and reset it bypassing the password screenlock
sorry for my bad english, i'm italian xD
i'll try to explain better if u need

thanx everyone for the answer,
You got to really think about it. Even a bios password can be gotten around. With android being open source all the coding is available to any that want to learn it.
Not to mention if this was ever done then custom ROMs would be dead. The OEM would lock it up

Hello all,
I'v already seen alot of ppl with same problem as i have but didnt find any proper solution yet
I'v by mistake flashed IceColdJelly ROM on my HTC one x rogers, i know its a noobish mistake,
but i've learned to read carfully about what i'm flashing....
I know there is a way to flash the hboot back to a right partition using linux , while device is in emmc mode,
but i dont know which mmcblks it flashed to.
PLs if it possible someone can direct me with the right commands in linux and what files i need to replace.
i'll appreciate any help
Probably should have learned to read carefully before flashing huh...
I don't know the solution but if you actually search you'll find the answer. It's been covered already.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
we should make a thread in our forum called icecoldjelly with big letters saying not to flash it. noobs might see our thread first instead of the roms thread and end up not flashing it.
Dunno man.. can't really guard against ignorance can ya :banghead:

the way to fix it properly is not for a noob. and no one is going to be able to baby you through it and if someone who has fixed it will do that for you. you need to work your ass to help others fix the same problem.
I really would like to help! I'v tried to work it out for long time and did alot of forum reading, but no success. I do understand that the wrong hboot need to be replaced from linux in some partition... i have some basic linux knwolege...but still dont know hot to see the partitions in emmc mode, and how/what files to dd.

how can someone mistakenly flash a rom thats NOT in the AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL forum
People are googling HTC one x Roms, then get links from onexroot.com and other sites that don't clarify any difference between devices, flash, brick, post a new thread w/o reading:banghead:

you probably shouldve made a backup before doing it.
If you want to revert to what you had before, you could extract the systemui.apk from your current rom zip. Then delete the one in system/app of your phone and paste the original one there. Change the permissions to rw-r-r, then reboot.
where do i find the original one and how do i do that last thing you said?

lol. Its really not that hard to fix. All you need to do is find a nice untouched systemui.apk for whatever rom you are using and replace the one that is currently there.

Go to settings>about. Does it say anything about cyanogenmod or another rom name?
Or are you on stock touchwiz rom?
Maybe try asking the person that rooted the phone if they flashed a rom.
This is what happens when you try to do something you don't understand and don't do the proper research. Your lucky that's all you did and you didn't end up with a brick with a voided warranty.
The roms your on is in the about phone section. Most likely a stock rom.

what does it say in settings>about? Like i said, theres no need to take it to tech support. Its a simple fix, and if you had a bit of a clue of what you have done to your phone the issue likely would've been resolved by now.

You are forced to take responsibility for your own misstakes. In this case buying a phone which bootloader is unlockable. Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to, YOU chose it without thinking about it.
And asking ppl to "shut up" while they are agreeing with you and trying to show compasion is....as dumb as it gets.

And Redzo's right, your mistake mate.. should've researched about it. Hopefully you might get lucky if someone manages to fix that bug in cwm on locked bootloaders.

1st.- no one knows if the bootloader is unlockable or not till you look at it, and you CANT get hands on the phone before you buy it (i mean the one you are getting, not the shown) so please you are free to feel like a stupid talknig about things that you actually dont know...
2nd.- dont you see the real meaning of that "shut up"? oh god... i think that u r the dumb that cant see beyond your nose...
is there something on the air or what? so many silly answers for god sake....

You got a point there. I mean what if you bought it online? there's NO way you can access the phone to see if it's bootloader allowed to be unlocked and not only that but I don't think anyone can remember that code to access the system menu or whatever it's called. @Redzo and @ Elnazhox you're both right. @elnazhox you should've researched a bit more, and @ Redzo it's not possible to access the system menu or whatever when you're buying it online.
Hey guys.. I'm currently on 4.4.2 stock rooted with xposed and Franco and would like to upgrade to 4.4.3.
I don't have access to a computer at the moment... So what would be the easiest way or anyway for that matter to upgrade?
Sorry if this a noob question but I am not super android savvy to be honest. Any help would be amazing.
If there was a guide or something to follow for someone in my position....
Thanks for any help

you shouldnt do a single thing, nothing. not until you take some time to educate yourself first. if not, and you start messing around, youre gonna end up with a paperweight. seriously, im not being mean to you, im trying to be helpful. take some time, read about the basics, learn at least just what you need. start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527

Sorry it auto corrected. Yes you can flash a stick rooted rom. Such as the one from @bigxie that I linked but please try to heed @simms22 words. You always want to know what you are doing before you do it or you risk ending up with a paperweight. If you have this many questions flashing something new can wait until you are comfortable with what you are doing.
