[Q] Razr Maxx on T-Mobile, what do I have to do? - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC One on T-Mobile that I have to send back to HTC to get repaired, I need something to tied me over till then. I have a Razr Maxx that I used to have on Verizon previously and want to use that in the interim.
I have read on here that it's unlocked out of the box, but when I put my T-Mobile sim card in it, it doesn't work. What else do I have to do to it in order to get it to function?

[q] how to get htc ozone or motorola q9c unlocked to use new sim?

Looked all over site..sounds like info I will need..but I just started.
I have HTC Ozone that I bought cash when I had Verizon wireless. I canceled with them over 5 months ago after being with them for over 10 yrs. I have T-Mobile now and would like to see if I can use my HTC Ozone (or Motorola q9c) with my current carrier T-Mobile.
I just started attempting to do this..so I did get a site where I got an unlock code..and I unlocked the Verizon SIM card. I did not know what to do next. I put the TMobile SIM in and it does not recognize SIM.
I saw on posting that I needed to change my network from CDMI to GSM? (I hope I have those letters correct). I did do this..and no matter what I do with trying the Verizon SIM or re-trying my current TMobile SIM..did not recognize, but I noticed that when I change from CDMI to GSM..it always goes back to CDMI. And the network name above it is fixed on Verizon with no change option.
I am new at this..but I am a computer geek..self taught, so terms like FLASH it and others, I am not familiar with yet. (ROM? means what)
I really did not use HTC Ozone for email, internet much..then I got stuck with Required data..so if there is some way to use internet..I don't care. it would be nice option to choose.
I just had to get out of that phone, as the rules changed with that carrier and it suddenly became a required DATA phone. (I had simply updated from my Motorola Q9c..'which is another option to update if it is easier to able to be used on T-Mobile..it just needed new battery.( I wish I never updated). T-Mobile phone I actually downgraded from my $500+ phone to a basic Gravity2. I miss the calendar and basic OS features. But I do like my new carrier very much.
Is there any way to remove all this Verizon software? or change the settings they have set on so it is locked with their Version only, I would prefer to see if it is possible to unlock and use either my HTC Ozone or Motorola q9c.
I have seen others mention 'removing carrier firmware and installing clean software..and I have seen on this site, real cool development stuff done.
I do not know if my phone has 'Cedar? or whatever the other name was?
Does anyone know a good first steps to look into to do this? I did already unlock my prior HTC Ozone..I had used when I was with VerizonWireless..over 4 months ago, so it is here..and Motorola q9c real good phones I would rather have the choice to use.
Will I be able to use my T-Mobile SIM in my HTC Ozone? or on Motorola q9c? And Use one of these great phones?
Here is my phone specs on Ozone: (getting info on Motorola)
HTC Ozone (bought Verizon) have Verizon SIM card..I was able to unlock it.

[Q] 4G SIM Nightmare!

This is a very confusing question but I will try my best to explain. There are 2 phones in question here :
1. Motorola RAZR MAXX
2. Motorola RAZR MAXX HD.
Is it possible for a 4G SIM to change your device info within Verizon's records? As of now and hands on experience, YES! Beware. You could be in for a nightmare.
Friend of mine(not very savvy), was trying to transfer her pictures from her MAXX to her MAXX HD through a MicroSD swap. Since she didn't know the difference between the SIM and the MicroSD she swapped both from the MAXX to the MAXX HD with no warning/error messages whatsoever. She uses it for about 4 weeks and loses her MAXX HD. Files a claim with Asurion, who rejects the claim since the ESN/IMEI of the HD which she got on the box doesn't match what Verizon has on file. She logs into her My Verizon account to find a picture of a Droid RAZR MAXX and the wrong info.
It seems that just by switching the 4G SIM from the MAXX to the MAXX HD completely switched the device info online. Please note that it doesn't work the other way around. The RAZR MAXX didn't work with the RAZR MAXX HD's 4G SIM.
Has anyone ever had this issue? Does anyone(working at VZW or Asurion) know of a way to get the HD replaced? Please note this is not a scam :
- There is proof of the device being bought from AmazonWireless.
- The Box, Charger and SIM Clips including the original SIM that came with the HD is in her possession.
- She already flagged the HD's ESN as lost/stolen.
- She has the MAXX in her possession.
- The Verizon system does show the MAXX HD being on her account at some point.
Amazon Wireless has the instant discount policy that warns you that the phone has to be on the account for 181 consecutive days otherwise they charge you the full retail of the phone which is currently at $729 + Tax. So she is obviously not trying to run a scam. Just saying. Honest mistake and honest claim here.
Please advise.

Droid Maxx Overseas

Hey guys,
So I'll be traveling overseas in December and was wondering if I could just pop in a tmobile sim card and use my phone overseas. I remember reading somewhere that the Droid Ultra/Maxx can be used by simply popping in an ATT sim card, is the same true for tmobile? I figured tmobile would be my best bet as I'm traveling to Germany.
Anyways, thanks for the help!
I put a tmo USA sim in without trouble awhile back.

Only thing is that it has a nano SIM, so you'll have to cut it. Otherwise no issues, mine works with AT&T fine.

Changing from Droid Maxx to S5 via loophole. SIM question.

I still have unlimited data with VZW. I just received an S5 from Amazon and need to use my existing SIM in the phone. I thought the SIM from my Droid Maxx was the same but.....it's not.
I know not to turn on the device with the provided SIM. I have a brand new in the wrapper VZW SIM in the correct size for the S5. It was sent to me when I was having issues with a Droid Razr Maxx HD. I never used it. Is it safe to use this SIM, call VZW and let them know I rec'd the SIM from them a while ago and see if they'll activate the phone with that one? Otherwise I would have to find an adapter for the Mini SIM to fit into the Micro slot which I would have to order.
I'd like to get my new phone activated ASAP. Any help would be appreciated.

Buying New Phone, Help

I have a problem, I don't like the maxx anymore, the new ones are out and I still don't have lollipop. Now to the question- I am still under a contract and still paying the phone off, if I buy the maxx 2 or nexus 5x can I just activate it right away or do I have to wait till my contract is up? I would be replacing my maxx
If it's verizon you just go to your online account to activate or manage phones and enter the phone and sim numbers to the new phone, same as if you lost your old phone, but a new one and assign the sim card to it. Simple
You don't even have to register the new phone, just pull the sim out of the old phone and stick it into the new one since the micro sim in the Maxx is the standard currently.

what Jonny Wong said will work as long as the device uses the same size sim
Maxx has a nano SIM fwiw.
Is everyone sure that will work though? If I take the sim out of my maxx and put it into the nexus it will definitely work? I though each sim was locked to a certain phone. @Johnny Wong @smokyngordo
it will work without even having to go to a store. They take the exact sim @JH1108. a sim is NOT locked to a phone.

Yes, took the sim out of my Maxx and put it right into my iPhone 6s, no issues.
