I am currently using a Verizon HTC M8, it's a long story but the store sent me a Verizon phone even though I ordered the factory unlocked version. My problem is that I am on a GSM network, and the Verizon version of the phone updates over the CDMA network. My phone is currently on the 1.12.605.11 software number and I heard that the software has been recently updated to 1.55.605.2
My question is that I would like to know if anyone has the update and a method to manually update? As I am not likely to be able to get the OTA update anytime soon.
Thank in advance!!!

I've manually patched the OTAs before but I found it easier to let the htc recovery to just update me. (Assuming you haven't changed a lot of stuff on the /system partition, root and xposed were the only two i changed on it)
This is assuming you have a custom recovery and are s-off (here is the gist of what i did, sorry its not very detailed)
Download the OTAPkg.zip
adb shell
su
cp /cache/fumo/OTAPkg.zip /sdcard/
adb pull /sdcard/OTAPkg.zip
extract firmware.zip from OTAPkg.zip
extract recovery.img from firmware.zip
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery.img
fastboot reboot
have the system do its OTA via settings menu
after its done all i had to do was re-flash TWRP, re-root, and install my xposed library again .. TADA!

I'm stupid and forgot I deleted a lot of the VZW bloat with Titanium Backup, which, of course, this OTA checks for said bloat before going on with the install. Guess I'll just learn to be patient, otherwise this would have worked easily.

What if i am not rooted? and i am not in the US? What should i do to get the update?
Shouldn't the command be fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ?
You should be able to flash the official OTA zip in the stock recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722817

Well, so there are already a few threads on this, if you just can't wait to toy with it, check this post out.
As for me, I figure there will be a flashable zip available within a few hours so I won't have to redo my xposed modules with all the reboots, regain extreme powersave (for which there is also arleady a fix); redo sweep to sleep, etc. etc. etc. On the other hand, knowing how impatient I can be, I know what I'll be doing tomorrow afternoon otherwise.

You need at least temp root be able to manually install the update, weaksauce works great for this. Once you have temp root you can download the OTA from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2722817 and then unzip and place the OTA.zip in /cache/fumo on your phone (I changed the permissions of the OTA.zip to allow read/write/execute as well). If you don't have a fumo folder in your cache create one and set the permissions to read/write/execute, for moving files and changing permissions I use root explorer.
Once you have the file in the correct location, flash the OTA through the stock recovery. That should be all, it worked for me...

Hello,
I've been trying to install the ota.zip lollipop update by sideloading.
But it is aborting it because there are changes in a specific audio file (system/vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf)
could somebody please post the stock audio_effects.conf file for me?
Thank you very much.
edit: What I forgot to mention is that the changes were made by Viper4android.

You can extract it from a KK ROM.zip then.
Hi! i´m having a similar problem but with another file: gps.conf.
first i will help you getting audio_effects.conf:
1) download google image file, to your device and version from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
2) extract all package files (tgz, tar, zip) until you have system.img
3) follow this tutorial to open the image and get the file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294909
now the problem:
I cant apply the 5.0 ota because my gps.conf is messed up. My bootloader is locked since i managed to get root with towelroot and lived fine with xposed.
Now even placing the stock gps.conf file and removing root, for some reason there a mismatch in the file and the ota fails.
Any suggestions?

re-root with towel root.
flash recovery with flashify
flash rom.zip
or
re-root with towelroot
unlock bootloader with bootunlocker
fastboot flash stock system.img

Can you post the link to the thread directly? I don't find a link to a stock ROM in section 6. There is a link to a 5.0 ROM, but not to a 4.x ROM. That I can see. It is all very confusing for people who aren't experts in all of this.
I can't believe I went to all the trouble of installing Viper and all it did was screw up my phone for installing 5.0. It never really fixed my volume problems, which is all I wanted to change.
i've been trying to unbrick this thing for hours after failed root attempt....i'm trying to use rsd lite to flash back to stock.....i now have access to fastboot and recovery and whatnot.... i cant seem to find the firmware i need to unbrick it. the latest i can find is su6-7.2! if someone found su6-7.3 i feel like that would fix it and id be so happy!!!!!!!rsd fails with 7.2
Su6-7.3 is just the security update.
Just use fastboot to flash the partitions with su6-7.2, you will get the update notification after you're up and running.
I had issues with rsdlite and my ultra when I had it.
Look for Minimal adb and fastboot, you will also need mfastboot to flash the system partition, as its too big for fastboot to handle. If you need instructions on how to manually flash the device, a quick search will reveal easy to follow directions.

You're flashing a stock firmware which is signed for the device, so the bootloader being locked isnt problem.
Also mfastboot is used for the system.img to the system partition, you can use fastboot for the other img's.

Hi,
I want to root my phone by extracting the boot.img from my phone, editing the default.prop to make ro.secure=0 and ro.debuggable=1, and to flash it back on.
I have the boot.img from the android marshmellow I flashed on my phone, but I wasn't sure if it is changed after it was flashed. If someone knew if this was possible., it would be great
Hello,
To better assist you, please post your device model number and I will guide you to where you may find your answer. Thank you.
I doubt what you are trying will root your device, editing build.prop isn't going to get you rooted.
I'm trying to edit the default.prop inside the boot.img, not the build.prop, my device is an XT1072. I am trying to achieve adb root by doing this

Post questions in that thread.
10i for T-Mobile V20 H918 is out.
It's still anti-rollback v00. :good:
Android Security Patch: 2016-12-01 (dirtycow/recowvery patched)
Download Link
UPPERCUT should work if using LGUP/KDZ.
If you flash this KDZ there is no current root method for 10i... so no TWRP etc (at this very moment anyway).
Everyone who can only boot to download mode.. this should save you.
those w/TWRP already can use the images (or wait for someone to make a flashable "rom" zip.
H91810-system.img.zip is just the system.img compressed, not a flashable zip.
if flashing the stock system.img/boot.img be careful not to lose TWRP..
delete the "recovery-from-boot.p" in system while still in TWRP if you want to be extra safe.
I don't have a V20 and won't be supporting this thread. Just providing files.
Thanks for this. Wonder what the changes from v10d are (other the exploit patch)
If and when someone creates a flashable zip, can we flash SuperSU after we flash the ROM to still have root?
Great.. My replacement is coming today which means it'll probably self update on first boot before I can do anything about it..

yes, that's how it works. tho.. idk if it's user-error or what... sometimes people flash supersu and it doesn't patch the boot.img and when they boot into android they lose twrp. hasn't happened to me but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . so that's why I also suggested removing the recovery-from-boot.p as an option.
people could also just dd the images manually if they don't want to wait for a zip... but I guess those comfortable with dd already know that.

What I usually do is make a twrp back up from my old phone and restore it on the new phone after making a fake backup and moving the old one in the new folder the fake backup created. Theoretically this should restore my google account without ever having to initially setup my account when I turn on the new phone. Right? Or do you think it'll cause authentication issues?

If you really want this, just use the LG Bridge and update it through that. It's much easier than flashing manually and accomplishes the same thing.

You don't need the file at all. Just download the LG Bridge from the LG website, install the LG Universal mobile drivers, plug in your phone and use the software update option. It does it all by itself, and will restart your phone on it's own.

You only need to plug in your phone and let it work. Since this is a stock image, you will lose root. Also, the as described in the original post on page 1, the December security patch also patches the dirty cow exploit used to achieve root, so once you flash this, you'll be stock unrooted until a new method comes along.
