Heya,
Since there is not enough info on the web regarding the rooting procedure for Videocon A55 HD and custom recovery for this awesomely smooth device, I'm uploading the necessary files and step by step guide. Hope it helps all the users of this device.
Remember rooting would tamper the warranty of the device and should be exercised carefully. The procedures mentioned below have been personally tested by me however I take no responsibility in case you ruin your device although I would be here to help you in such a scenario. Besides this the rooting script was not created by me and all the credit goes to the respective developer.
1. Rooting Procedure
Make sure you have enabled "USB Debugging" under Developer Options on your phone.
Keep your phone disconnected from computer via USB
a) Download and Install the ADB Interface driver for MTK 6589
Link to ADB Drivers
b) Download and extract the rooting package
Link to the Rooting Package
c) Now go to the extracted package and open a command prompt to that location as Administrator.
d) Type run.bat in Command Prompt and a message must appear "Press enter to root your phone..."
e) Press any key
f) Now after a few seconds the message should be " * daemon started successfully *"
g) Now connect your phone via USB to the computer
h) The cmd would automatically start pushing the necessary files onto your phone and when the process completes your phone will restart
Now you are rooted. To check install any Root checker application from playstore. Remember to grant permission while running Root Checker app when a pop up appears. It is suggested to update the SuperSU app from playstore and execute it at least once after that to update the su binary. You can also update the busybox package from playstore because busybox supplied with the rooting package is pretty old.
2. Installing CWM Recovery
Okie, since you are now rooted, most likely you would require a custom recovery to create full nandroid backups or test different ROMs. The CWM recovery provided here was created using MTKDroid Tools and is version 5.x (Non Touch). Again all credit goes to the developer of MTKDroid Tools for making such a powerful piece of software.
a) Download and extract the recovery package.
Link to CWM 5.x and Original Recovery for A55 HD
b) There are two files in the package , one is the custom CWM recovery and the other one is Stock Recovery (Names are pretty self understood)
c) Copy "Custom_Recovery_CWM_A55HD.img" to the root of your SD card
d) Rename it to "recovery.img"
e) Install Mobile Uncle Tools [MUT] from the playstore.
f) Open MUT and go to recovery update
g) Now you must see the recovery.img in a list. Just select it and follow the pop ups.
h) Now your phone would restart.
i) To check if the recovery update was successful, go to MUT and select "Reboot into Recovery" and your phone would most likely start in CWM recovery..
Alternative to get into recovery mode is to Press Power button + Volume Down key together when switched off.
3. Stock ROM for Videocon A55 HD
Okie, here we go, as I mentioned that I had got hold of the stock rom, so here I'm publishing it. The credit goes to Pratap Solunke (psolunke) for providing the Factory ROM zip.
I have just divided it into update.zip and files for SPFT for ease of downloading. Besides I have splitted each section into 4 parts and reuploaded it so you can download them at your ease. I'm providing the link for the whole folder which includes the changelog, update.zip and files for SPFT.
The ROM version is V7 (2013.07.15) which is different from the original ROM which was V5 (2013.06.08).
You can read the changelog for the updates in this ROM.
Link to ROM Folder
If using update.zip to flash this ROM, then
Step 1. Open the update.zip with winrar, Do not extract.
Step 2. Navigate to \META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script and extract this file only, then use "Notepad++" to open the file.Don't use default notepad.
Step 3. Delete assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "A55HD" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "A55HD");
Step 4. Save the file, put it back to the same location in archive (It will take some time to add to archive)..Done...then proceed as usual.
a) update.zip is for reinstalling Factory Image of the ROM from recovery mode. The zip file is signed.
b) Files for SPFT are to be used with SP Flash Tool and can be used in case your phone is bricked. Do not flash the preloader unless you know what you are doing.
c) To download the files just go to the respective folder and right click on each file and hit download. After all four parts are downloaded, extract Part 1 of the downloaded splitted files and the files would be ready to be used as is.
d) Keep all four parts of the splitted files in a single folder and do not rename the splitted files.
If you have any questions related to A55 HD you can ask them here and I would try to help you the best way I can.
I'm still testing some custom ROMS but none seem to work . So far I've tested LEWA OS and MIUI ROM for xiacoao G6 Youth. However I'll keep trying and update once I have a working Custom ROM.
One more project in mind is to port Custom ROMS to A55 HD if none is available as is on the web.
If anyone of you is able to find a working Custom ROM for A55 HD kindly post it here so that we can have a repository of successful and useless attempts. I'm sure it would help others.
Rooting procedure worked after two attempts. The device is rooted.
While trying to install CWM recovery, get a problem. Can not see custom recovery in MUT. Pasted on both SD cards, internal and external also.

I forgot to mention , rename the recovery image to "recovery.img" and then put it in root of SD card and it would get detected by MUT...It will get detected instantly...Thankyou for bringing it to notice...Just updating the post...
done but some observations!!!!
DONE.
Some observations:
1. In CWM, cant see internal SD card. While, after mounting usb storage, can see external SD card only. NOTE, CANT SEE INTERNAL SD CARD ONLY WHEN TRY TO MOUNT INTERNAL PHONE STORAGE IN CWM. WHILE NORMAL WORKING NO PROBLEM.
2. Deleted.
3. Deleted.
4. Deleted,
5. Deleted.
6. The font size of Stock and CWM recovery is very small still it can serve the purpose.
Do any body have original/stock update.zip from Company?
Updates:
I think I figured out the problem with touch. Uninstalled an application called "Go Power Master" and the touch is ok even after connecting USB or charger. Thanks man. The phone is working very nice after rooting.

Some observations:
1. In CWM, cant see internal SD card. While, after mounting usb storage, can see external SD card only.
2. After rooting, before even installing CWM, got some irratic behavior with touch. Like, while USB is connected, touch was not working as expected, it took long time to make USB storage active as after touching a specific required operation, like pulling down task bar it was doing something else like opening play store, opening game, or opening date and time settings. While unlocking lock screen, it was just opening any random phone application and is not even allowing to go back with back button or home button. Don't know this is related with what?
3. Irratic application were opening while touching different application but after removing USB, things were working better.
4. Rebooted in CWM and first tried to "fix permissions" to avoid that irratic touch behavior, thinking there was problem with permissions. Took nandroid back up, after fixing permissions. Wiped cache and dalvik cache and restarted.
5. Now, till now phone is not connected to PC with USB cable or connected to charging; it behaves better with touch but it is very troublesome to perform any operation after phone connected to PC with USB or to charger.
May be you have faced these issues or may not! Any suggested solution? Do any body have original/stock update.zip from Videocon?

For me the touch works without any problems...and as for detecting internal sd card...that also works flawlessly..i don't have the phone with me right now...Yesterday I was trying something and the nvram got corrupted [No baseband]...so right now it is resting at service center...Hope to get it next week...
One suggestion never install Carliv Touch Recovery on this phone...it messes with the baseband and display...Stick to this recovery until I build a more updated CWM...

Done
Successful.
Please add in above step 2 "to extract file Updater-script on PC" and then use N.........
Flashed modified update.zip from CWM and phone upgraded to version 15072013. To be strange it is showing v1.0 20130715 in build ie in about phone. All the applications were intact but lost root and also CWM recovery; then managed to root the phone and flash CWM with your fantastic guide.
After booting in CWM, wiped cache and dalvik cache(why? don't know). Phone is working nice. Thanks,

Nice...Yeah, people at Videocon forgot to change the version number i guess...and loss of root and cwm was due to restoring of system.img and recovery.img in the ROM file...so it's normal..
Besides one should always perform a clean install from CWM..i.e. Clear Data, Clear Cache, Clear Dalvik Cache, Format /system/ and then install ROMS..
And yes this ROM is a bit better then the one on phone..I received my phone today from service center and software was updated to this ROM..It felt much better .And the version was same , so this seems to be the latest ROM for A55 HD.. Enjoy
How to flash phone with sp flash tools
was trying to flash a recovery build on CWM site. I think it has spoiled baseband. No sim is getting detected. Any idea how to flash phone with SP tool? Don't have access to service station as am very far.
Edit: Managed to flash with SP tool. Used the files you have uploaded for SPFT. Selected all options and now phone is on and showing base band version, also sim are getting detected. The issue was preloader drivers for windows 8 which managed to install by disabling driver signature verification. Device rooted and installation of CWM through MUT was successful. Thanks.
Try this and this. Its as good as custom rom installation works very well with MTK6589

You must understand that the recovery partition is of 6 mb....and most likely the recovery you received from CWM online builder was more than 6 mb..hence your secro.img was also overwritten...hence the problems with baseband and imei....same thing happened with me 7 days back when I had to submit my phone to Service center. Unfortunately i didn't had the flash image then but it is good to know that it can also recover baseband and imei. And congrats for recovering your phone and I'm glad my contribution helps you...
Just remember one thing...if the boot, recovery, secro partitions are of more than 6mb then don't flash them as they would mess one thing or other...and hopefully you had disabled preloader in SPFT.....if not then from next time onwards please do it....because rarely you need to flash preloader...and a wrong flash can make your device a brick which can only be recovered by Test points.Hence never flash preloader until unless you know what you are doing.....And yes, I already use Gravity Box along with Xposed Framework...Great mod...Besides them I also use xhalofloatingwindow with bubble launcher and lwinrecent ...Both are xposed modules and work as expected.I also have init.d support which allows to make boot persistent changes on device....Along with that a few build.prop tweaks that take my ROM to the custom level...Let me know if you need any of this...
Please
Thanks for preloader advise. was not that much aware and will take care next time. Please share init.d support, build.prop tweaks and their usefulness.
For init.d, use term-init by ryuinferno.

This is the link to the thread. Do not use zip-init or uni-init. Follow the guide on the thread. It works flawlessly.

@anuj - Anyways if it brick again and need to send service center, please text me imei and location, i will make it done fast for you dear.:fingers-crossed:
Thank you Pratap bro. I'll let you know next time if I get to the point where I need to go to service center but I'm sure that with the ROM you provided I wouldn't need to go to one. And yes people you can ask for stock ROM from Pratap. He has excellent connections and can get you at least the Videocon ROM and may be others . Don't forget to thank him. Besides he is an excellent person who wouldn't shy away from helping you if he can. Ciao Pratap brother.

Many people seem to be having a lot of trouble flashing recoveries for their Ideos so I figured I would write this thread because I haven't found any other guides for flashing U8150 recoveries.
Method 1
1. Install Terminal Emulator from the market.
2. Install Root Explorer from the market.
3. Download the recovery of your choice and copy the recovery.img to your sd card. (if its not named recovery.img rename it)
4. With Root Explorer, navigate to where the recovery is and copy it to /system/bin/ (remember to select mount as R/W first in order for it to copy.)
5. Open Terminal Emulator and enter the command "su" (without the quotes)
6. After that enter the command "flash_image recovery /system/bin/recovery.img" (again without the quotes)
7. That's it, the recovery has been flashed. Reboot in recovery to confirm.
8. Once you've confirmed the recovery flashed properly remember to delete the recovery.img from /system/bin/ (using root explorer, and mount as R/W)
Method 2
I find this method much easier because you don't have to go through the trouble of installing drivers. Also you don't need to connect your device to your PC. Your device needs to be rooted though. If your device isn't rooted simply download z4root from the market and root it.
1. Download and install ROM Manager from the market.
(If you simply want to flash the latest working ClockworkMod Recovery and not an older version or UltraJack skip to step 6.)
2. Navigate to the folder /clockworkmod/download/mirror.sea.tdrevolution.net/cm/recoveries/ (create the folders if they are not already there)
3. Delete any files in that folder.
4. Download the recovery you want to use from the recovery links below. Unzip the file. Rename the "recovery.img" file to "recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-ideos.img". (See note below)
5. Copy the renamed "recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-ideos.img" into the recoveries folder (/clockworkmod/download/mirror.sea.tdrevolution.net/cm/recoveries/)
6. Open ROM Manager and select Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. It will bring up a list of devices, just scroll down until you find Huawei U8150 Ideos and select it.
7. ROM Manager will flash the recovery image for you and you're done.
Now you have a working recovery. To test select Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager.
Since you are renaming the recoveries remember to keep track of which recovery is currently in the recoveries folder.
Note: recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-ideos.img is the name of the latest ClockworkMod Recovery in rom manager at this time (28/04/2011). If it is updated and I haven't updated the thread, change the name of the recovery to the latest version.(i.e if the latest recovery is ClockworkMod 3.0.2.5, rename the img to recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.5-ideos.img instead of recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-ideos.img)
Method 3
Installing Drivers
Windows 7:
Download and install PDANet. That should install the drivers for you.
Alternatively, you could download the drivers and install them manually. First download the drivers for your OS from here.
Drivers Windows 32-Bit Mediafire Multiupload
Drivers Windows 64-Bit Mediafire Multiupload
Connect your device(you don't need to turn on USB storage) then open device manager. Right click on your device and select properties, select the hardware tab and then select properties. Select the drivers tab, then select Reinstall/Update Driver. Choose the option (Browse my computer for driver software) and select the drivers you just downloaded. (Extract the zip file first)
MacOS
Download and install PDANet. That should install the drivers for you.
Linux
Follow this guide by bloodychaos to get ADB working.
Flashing Recovery
1. Once you have the drivers installed download the recovery of your choice from the links below.
2. Extract the zip file and open the folder.
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Connect your phone to your PC.
5. Reboot your phone in bootloader mode. (Turn it on while holding the Volume Down button and the End(Red) Key.)
6. Run the install-recovery file/script for your OS found in the extracted recovery folder.
7. Once it flashes your phone should reboot.
N/B If you have trouble with the drivers or any other problems try Method 1.
Now you have a working recovery. To test turn off your phone, then turn it on while holding the Volume Up Key and the Green(Call) Key.

For some reason the ideos does not appear on the list, I have no idea why, you might have to try one of the other methods to flash a recovery.

Thanx for the quick reply, i ended up using method 3.
Just one thing about method 3, the batch file doesn't exist in the ClockworkMod 3.0.2.4 (by marcnvidic) link as it's only an .img file. So i simply downloaded the ClockworkMod 3.0.1.(by udK) zip file, and replaced the image with the newer 3.0.2.4 after unzipping it.
Thank you for the guide, i've successfully flashed clockworkmod, and backed up the phone. now all i have to do is choose a ROM.
which ROM do u suggest???

That was the official link from marcnvidic, the multipuload & mediafire mirrors should have the batch files. Anyway, for the rom I would suggest FUSIONideos or Dronix 0.4, there's a poll somewhere on this forum and those are the most popular, Gingerman V4 is also pretty good but I wouldn't suggest it as your first rom because its still relatively new and is still being improved so it isn't perfect as a daily use rom yet. I switch btw fusion & gingerman, but I can tell you fusion is pretty stable. One thing to note however, if you are not using gingerman or another cyanogenmod port, I would suggest using clockworkmod by udK as your recovery, cwm 3.0.2.4 has some issues making backups of other roms.
Mate, I'm loving this
So far i've flashed CM6.1 port, Fusion, and Dronix 0.4! hehe i'm addicted now! Right now i'm back to CM6.1, but will try Gingerman V4 soon
Thanx for your help mate, you're a champion.
EDIT: thought i'd explain why i'm on CM6.1. Reason being is that I even though i think Fusion is the better one so far, I can't seem to have a solid 3G connection.
I'm from Sydney Australia, and with Optus. The APN seems to be correct and all, but the phone keeps switching from 3G to H.
tq for this information...i have done it
thanks !!!!!
I'm having a bit of trouble.
I was trying method 2 and clicked the wrong phone model. I went to change it but found that "Huawei IDEOS U8150" is not listed. Now I cannot access my recovery menu, and cannot install clockwork recovery. How would I fix this? I've been searching for hours and only found ways to remove it via the recovery menu.
Everything is functioning fine so it's not a big problem, I just can't get to the recovery menu/boot loader.
Also, I attempted method 1 because it doesn't involve the use of the recovery menu. It says, "flash_image: not found" when I type the command.
Nevermind, put about another hour into searching. Thank you so much for this guide it helped me alot.
I installed ROM Manager and pressed "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".
It downloaded some files and flashed the Mod.
(I have my u8150 rooted using SuperOneClick)
Now it shows that my ClockworkMod Recovery version is 3.0.2.4
BUT the problem is that:
1>If I press reboot into recovery, the phone reboots and I end up staring at the IDEOS logo for ... like ever.
2>I pressed Backup Current ROM and after giving it a name (Stock ROM), I pressed OK and again the same result.
3> I found on the internet that to go into the recovery mode I need to press the SEND (green button) and the Volume UP together and then press Power.
I did it, even held the three buttons in the next try... but sadly every time the phone got stuck and I ended up looking at the IDEOS logo.
and the only way to get the phone working again was to take out the battery and press Power. (the phone itself is running fine)
PLz kindly help me out on this.. am I missing something??
Thnx
That means the recovery didn't flash correctly. Are u sure u selected the right phone from the rom manager list. Try flash recovery again. But first u need to delete everything in the clockworkmod/download directory on the sd card. Or if you know how to, just delete the recovery image in that folder.
yes I selected the corret phone i.e. Huawei u8150 Ideos
i deleted everything in the clockworkmod/download directory on the sd card
re-flashed..
still the same problem
btw.. during flashing, twice I got a pop-up asking me to either "force close" or "wait" and I pressed "wait" both times.
P.S. I just noticed after removing the battery that it says the model of my phone is U8150-D. I wonder what the "D" stands for?
It shuld not be force closing. Maybe rom manager has a problem. Try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work I suggest trying one of the other methods to flash the recovery.
ok so ive just tried Method 1 and followed every step... and the funny thing is that when I enter the following command in terminal emulator:
flash_image recovery /system/bin/recovery.img
.. it says
flash_image: not found
lol
now im downloading ultrajack
Update:
Ive tried Method 3:
and for 10 minutes now.. my command prompt is still showing this message:
< waiting for device >
:-(
For method 3 try running the bat file first then when it shows you the waiting for device message turn on the phone in bootloader mode.
just did as you said, i turned off the phone.. ran the bat file, when it said waiting for device I plugged in the phone (battery charging started), then I pressed power while holding Red and Volume Down...
the result is the same..
(the same was the result when running ultrajack)
>im just wondering... do I need to install any kernel or something before doing this??
>also I noticed that the CWM's recovery.img that I got from this forum is 3.94MB, while the one I downloaded through the Rom Manager was 3.71MB (on both tries).
P.S. how do I completely remove CWM and its files? so i can start the process fresh. I read at some forum that there is some file related to this called update.zip... whats that?
(Sorry for being a bother and thnx for your help)
UPDATE !!!
Its done... its finally done. Yattaaaaa!!!
ok so here is is what I did....
>I deleted everything in the clockworkmod folder like you once mentioned before.
>You said that while flashing I shouldn't be getting a pop-up that asks me to either force close or wait.
>So I had a hunch that the popup that appeared during the flashing might have been caused due to the screen timeout set at 30 sec (i mean a clash of two processes)
>So, i set the screen timeout to 30 minutes (hehe) and pressed Flash ClockworkMod Recovery from the Rom Manager.
>It flashed without any pop-ups and it successfully booted into recovery mode (and the first thing I did was to backup my phone)
Once again thnx for your support wachw.
... and if you don't mind can you help me with one more thing (if it's convenient for you)... plz guide me how to install multitouch for my phone provided here (coz nobody at that thread has been generous enough to guide me ;_; )

[i have downloaded the multitouch patch and the complied kernel, plz guide me on what to do next. thnx ]

This method successfully installs the CWM on the phone. CWM version supplied by ZOPO does not work. Use the CWM posted in the second link
I am a still learning and not a developer !
Hi All ZOPO ZP900 Leader Owners,
This is a guide for Installing Clock Work Mod Recovery Image on ZOPO ZP900 Leader Phone. Most of the owners of this fantastic phone would have desperately tried like me to install CWM on this phone (some may have found success). ZOPO does gives an option to order the phone pre-rooted however they do not install CWM ....or for that matter there is no Stock Recovery on the phone !!!. Start the phone with Power + Volume Up button pressed and your presented with an image of sick Android lying down with a Red triangle coming out of his opened stomach
DONT TRY TO USE ROM MANAGER APP TO INSTALL CWM, THIS WILL ONLY BRICK YOUR PHONE !
So after breaking my head for couple of days, searching the net, downloading stuff I have successfully installed CWM !
So here are the steps !.
What you need
1. ZOPO ZP900 Leader phone
2. Download Fully working English CWM from here http://www.4shared.com/file/16vuWyiU/recovery.html. The one posted in Zopo website does not work.
3. Download latest SP Flash Tool for MTK6577 from here http://www.4shared.com/zip/Xgc3G_hB/SP_Flash_Tool_v3122200.html
4. Download the latest Stock ICS ROM for ZP900 from Zopo website link http://www.4shared.com/rar/hGY2ahbu/MP_MT77_root_en_play_fix_zp900.html
5. Download MTK6577 Driver from Zopo website http://www.4shared.com/zip/YXlLFoLm/6577driver_install_3_steps.html
Installation Steps
1. Unzip and Install the USB drivers on your Windows PC using the MTK 6577 Driver Zip file. There will be 3 folders named First Step, Second Step & Third Step. Open First Step install the MTK driver MSI file. Post completion open Second Step, click on ClickInstall Driver, it will automatically install the USB driver. Press Exit after installation (Win 7 may give error that installation was incorrect, just ignore)
Repeat the same for folder Third Step
Connect your phone switched off and battery removed using USB cable. Windows will recognize and install the MTK drivers for your phone (any free COM ports) will be configured. Disconnect the phone. Put the battery back but do not switch on the phone
2.Extract the latest ROM folder from downloaded ICS ROM. You will get 2 folders
database
MP_MT77_h958_zp900_zwx_ics_20120912-155136_TSZ_PC
Open the second folder (MP_MT77***). This is the folder that has all the image files. You will find recovery.img file. This is original file. You can either rename it or keep a back up and delete it.
3. Copy the new CWM recovery.img file that you downloaded from ZOPO website in this folder. Rename it to be recovery.img
4. Extract and run SP flash Tool.exe (the one with Blue image icon)
5.Click on Options, USB Mode will be checked, DA Download All will be checked, in the sub options Speed will be Checked High Speed, Battery select With Battery. Come to the main Application window
6. Click on Scatter-loading button which is on the right side below Downloading Agent. A window will open. Browse to your extracted ICS ROM folder, click on folder MP_MT77****. By default you will have only one map file of name MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc. Select this
7. The flash tool will populate the Map file on the application window. You will see multiple Entries such as
PRELOADER
DSP_BL
MBR
etc etc. Each will have a check box which is by default checked.
8. UNCHECK all entries EXCEPT FOR "RECOVERY". Leave Recovery checked.
9. Now click on "Download" on the Application or press F9 on keyboard. A warning message will pop up. Press YES
10. You will see in the status bar below "Searching"
11. Connect your phone (switched off and with battery inserted) via the USB cable.
12. Flash tool will do its stuff. First a red progress bar, then a count down, a quick yellow progress bar and final window showing Green Circle.
If you get this the Congrats You have flashed CWM !
Check by unplugging the phone and re-starting it with Power+Volume Up button Pressed. The Phone will boot into CWM !.
Enjoy !
Warning - Please follow the instructions. Don't mess around with anything else. Not responsible if you do anything else and brick your device !
In case you get any other error on SP Flash Tool, then recheck your MTK driver installation. Try on another PC.
Now I hope this opens the door for many other things !
Additional Info -
Install PDAnet from here http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php or Snappea from www.snappea.com to make your device get recognized when connected to the computer. Install this with your phone switched on, this software installs the necessary drivers for the phone, post which you can use flash tool.

The CWM from taiwan101 for the 9300+ seems to be working fine. I was able to install .zip file from SD card. However the CWM is in Taiwanese, so if anyone can provide the CWM in English, thanks in advance

UPDATE - Finally got a full working English CWM for ZOPO extracted from Mod ROM posted thanks to Kyrie1965. Tested and everything is working. Download from here http://www.4shared.com/file/16vuWyiU/recovery.html

This method successfully installs the CWM on the phone. CWM as such works (able to navigate through the menus etc) but some of the function such as Install from ZIP, Backup etc, mount are not working, Gives an error Unable to Mount Sdcard !. Not sure if the issue is with CWM version supplied by ZOPO, need to try with other/older versions of CWM.
Please feel free to post links of CWM that works

Check your device drivers USB driver has not been installed properly. I faced this issue and after multiple attempts of reinstall of USB drivers the flash tool started working properly
Also you can try installing PDAnet from here http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php
Install this with your phone switched on, this software installs the necessary drivers for the phone, post which you can use flash tool.
Note Connect the phone to flash tool first without battery, in options select with battery, press download after selecting the required file, when it says searching unplug the phone put battery back, dont switch on, plus back the usb. The flash tool should load the required file.

It will flash the entire ROM again. My guide was specifically for flashing only the CWM and not the entire ROM. I wanted to keep the Stock rom intact as it came from ZOPO.
Word of caution, I am yet top try flashing the complete ROM so if you are trying ensure that your have taken a backup via CWM (if already flashed) of your existing full working ROM before attempting anything. Also flash only ZOPO Stock or customised ROMs,

Vodafone Smart first 6* NL *(EU) Rooting and More!
Done & Closed! After a wild chase finding the correct tools and apk's this took me 2 days to complete an fully rooted and Simlock free Vodafone branded Smart Firt 6.
Most of the files can be downloaded from below here on XDADISCLAIMER:
Rooting your phone and using custom Recoveries and ROM's have risks and may Void your warranty and can result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturers. In case of any mishap I am not responsible if you brick/ruin your phone in any way.
Basic computer skills are required and minimal knowledge about the phone and phone utilities also.
Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
It may be that you get an *softbrick *(bootloop) because Vodafone still pushing update's for their Firmware patching and upgrading the software!
To be safe please use methods given by: Androrooter and or Kirito9 !
#Rooting:
1# Download the root.apk onto your phone or SD card and install.
2# Now start the app and you will see it's all in Chinese, just click on the Root Shield Badge ontop of the screen.
3# Let it do its magic installing the scripts most likely it will auto reboot your phone without rooting it,
you must restart the root app again and click on the Badge (like done at step 2#).
~Now you are Rooted but the Superuser is Chinese and what i have noticed it's a temporary Root, if you lose root again just redo step 2#!
4# Download and install SuperSu-2.46 now launch an root app most likely the Chinese app will popup granting
for root permission, you must click on the colored (grant) button to accept.
5# Download an Root browser i.e. File Manager and let it gain Root permission, if SuperSu wont ask for Root it's now save to uninstall the Chinese app.
~From now on you permanently Rooted, don't go installing/modding stuff yet until you made an systems backup!
#Twrp or Cwm Recovery (PC version):
1# Download ADB Driver and install on PC. Download from here; http://www.datafilehost.com/d/2267ab98
2# Download TWRP Setup (thanks to Dees_Troy & Yuweng) and unzip on your PC.
3# Activate USB debugging under developer mode* and connect with USB to your PC.
(done by *tapping 7 times on the build number in the about phone section)
3a# Open the Twrp setup.exe and click on the next button.
3b# Just wait till the installation is completed followed by credits.
3c# On the next window, click on yes to proceed.
3d# Select Start Easy Magic TWRP Installer for MediaTek and click on ok
3e# Click on Yes to auto port.
3f# Now make sure your phone is connected, adb driver installed and usb debugging enabled, then click on OK.
~if you get any pop up msg on your phone screen just click on yes.
Just wait for a few seconds while the setup is been completed,
if the process was successful, your phone should automatically reboot into recovery.
~Now you need to make an full backup with Twrp so that all the files are safe!
#More Updates following Soon! To be safe please use methodes given by: Androrooter and or Kirito9 !

Kingroot 4.8 worked, so I ran the TWRP Setup and guess what another way to ruin the phone even further. Stuck in a boot loop now.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUYS GUIDE! It will most likely break your phone from start to finish!
Please provide a reset copy of your system.img and recovery.img for people who have lost their phones due to this guide, it would be very useful as the devices can be restored if adb / fastboot access can be achieved.

Well well QuantumRevenger,
Sorry to hear that this method didn't worked out nicely for you.
Maybe your firmware got upgraded and the recovery didn't stick?!
Did you try the combination Power + Vol Up while the phone is off and enter
the Recovery menu clear Cache + Dalvik after this reboot.
I can't help you with the systems files because i ditched the vodafone firmware for Vanilla 4.4.2 Android.
The only thing i can do for you is point to this thread where i moved towards myself-> MTK devices
Here you will learn an little how your MTK device works, also you can search XDA for an different Easy Magic TWRP or CTR or even Philz!
Enjoy

Hello RHodgett,
It most likely would work because this model bought by Vodafone for their (EU) market.
As we all know it's a cheap china phone suited for Vodafone requirements!
~Not speaking for the firmware updates they push once an while~
But rooting can be done very easy with the given root from my post or even now with the updated
Kingroot 4.8 said by QuantumRevenger. And like for the custom recovery it can get tricky mentioned by QuantumRevenger, i had no problem with this at that moment.
But i urge you to read my answer to QuantumRevenger problem from above, after that you can decide at your own risk.
Enjoy

Good Luck!
Thanks, I'll give this a go when the handset arrives in a few days and report back.
Can you explain how to then install the Vanilla 4.4.2 Android firmware? (or any other suitable stock firmware for the device)

No Problem & you're welcome!,
For flashing roms you need an custom recovery otherwise you can't Flash.
Nobody here is tailoring for our Vodafone branded(China) smart first 6 so you have to go where i send QuantumRevenger towards and where i am. (See post answering QuantumRevenger).
Here you can use the roms and learn more about our MTK devices in general.
For flashing roms you must install in the recovery as an zip file and then you're done!
MTK has other methodes to install but that's for advance users only.
Enjoy
&
Goodluck.
Hi, I've root using the Chinese apk and root checker says the device is rooted but I wasn't able to install SuperSU 2.46, it keeps saying the binaries need to be updated and it fails every time I update.
Rebooting using the TWRP setup just shows the Powered by android splash. I'm not sure what to do now?
Edit: Ok I've flashed a recovery from the threads you linked, finally got a bootloader working. Now to flash a ROM Got CM12.1 running, thanks!
DID not work for me
So I followed all the steps and everything seemed to work fine. The TWRP software said it was going to reboot into recovery but it is stuck at the android logo screen.
When I hold power button + up key its the same, stuck at the android screen.
When I hold power button + down key it boots into vodafone android.
I'm kind of stuck to what to do now (sorry I am really new to this)?

Darn that's a bummer! It worked for me and had everything running xposed, SuperSu etc. :/
Try another Magic installer use CWM or Phillz, they can be found here or via google.
So weird i bet Vodafone did a firmware push on there bootloader or not all EU firmwares are the same(dat would be pretty nonlogical).
Sorry for the troubles please try the above solution and report back if that fixed it.
Goodluck!

That's the problem. SiInce the file is in ZIP format, downloading into the SD card and then doing the Power+Vol up, and update from SD zip, gives me an aborted message.
Putting the Zip file in the Phone memory (not the sd card) just doesn't open the file, saying format not supported.(casue it is ZIP)
What am I missing? please help with a step by step idiots guide, if you can .

The root is an normal APK there are only two zip files here; the TWRP and the SuperSu.
TWRP.zip is an magic installer for your PC with the given USB drivers and Debuging turned on(See my guide).
Now SuperSu.zip can only be installed via an custom recovery like TWRP.
I'm noticing you're trying to flash without an
custom recovery?, that's an no go.
1# Root with given or Kingroot 4.8.
2# Install custom recovery TWRP, CWM or Phillz (Must be an magic installer version via PC) all these versions can be found on Xda.
3# Flash SuperSu via custom recovery and replace the first installed Root!
That's all there is to it, no deeper layers on how-to install.

Good luck!
OK got it. THe only way I could get the APK into my phone is via the phones own browser from this site. I could only move from my pc as a ZIP file only. Hence could not install. But now its done. I think I am rooted now. Root checker still says not rooted, but I can use ES file explorer and have managed to remove a few app. Does this mean it is Rooted?
Can I remove the Rooting apk from the phone now without any adverse impact?
I have also managed to load the TWRP on the SD card. IF I want to Flash a rom, how do I go about it? Can you link and stable ROM which I can use? Need a small tutorial.
AND very many mahy thanks for your support on here and input.

Okay Onlydongles,
I don't think you have Root (yet!), Es browser has an side menu.
Here you must scroll down and select Root Explorer, that's the real test if you got Rooted!
If not install Kingroot 4.8 via your phone browser.
For ROMs you have to go where I send everybody towards ->MTK Devices (link given in answers above).
Flashing ROMs is easy done by custom recovery select the downloaded ROM zip and flash with the given creator instructions B).

Before we start this post, I just wanted to say that I am new here (like today new) and XDA does not have this device listed in their website at all so I did not know where else to post this rather than the General Discussion, I do apologize for this annoyance and please forgive me. One last thing, I am not the developer of this, I am only the poster person........guy...... ;-; ....... the person who developed this custom recovery is @lopestom!! Please give him the credit he derserves, not me!! With this being said, let us move onto the post now!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE NOR IS THE DEVELOPER FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU CAUSE TO YOUR DEVICE!!*
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings XDA Community and Blu Users!

When is TWRP installed?
Sorry, as a noob, I have no idea at what point TWRP needs to be installed, if at all. Andvance 5.0 isn't on the list in the official TWRP app, so installling that from Google Play Store doesn't help. Do I get blutwrp.img -and how do I install it? Do I flash twrp, too, or install it another way ? Should twrp come up automatically here? I'm totally confused with this guide.

That download URL is TWRP. If I were to guess, the download is an unofficial port of TWRP. Since TWRP doesn't have an official build for BLU Advance 5.0, you have to use the file provided by OP (I am not aware of any other unofficial ports of TWRP specifically for BLU Advance 5.0).
It has been a while since I rooted the BLU Advance 5.0 for my friend, but I believe it is not possible to directly flash a custom recovery onto the device. That's why you need to install SPFT which was also generously provided by OP:

However, in order to use that tool, you must make sure you have the right drivers so your phone and computer can communicate:

After you have installed the proper drivers for your computer and SPFT, you are all set to follow the steps OP provided. Any instance where it says "zip file" he is referring to the zip file you should have downloaded from androidfilehost.com (first link I quoted from OP).
As long as you know that, here are the steps 1 - 11 you should follow:

I may be misreading this sentence, but incase I am not, I'll explain. The primary reason people install a custom recovery is so they can root their phones. In the case of BLU Advance 5.0, that phone only has an internal storage of 4GB, which I have recently learned is apparently taken up entirely by Messenger itself (if you download Facebook Messenger). What's the point of having a smartphone if you can't install apps on it? There is an app called Link2SD which can trick the phone into believing the external SD card space is internal (more or less). Link2SD needs root though.
After installing TWRP, now is when you can flash things the way I imagine you're moderately familiar with from your comment. The only thing you should need to flash via this method should be SuperSU, to give you the root privilege necessary for Link2SD. OP has also provided this:

If you followed all the steps properly, you should be able to power down your device, and boot into TWRP by holding the Power and Volume Up buttons until you see the white BLU boot screen. From there, you can flash SuperSU.
Hope this helped clear some things up for you!

While this helps, I've been doing this for months now... And now I am faced with the problem of the new OTA they just gave me, which blocks any and all root access that I had before. Now my problem is figuring out if I need to re-flash the previous version to my firmware or unlock the bootloader and just install a custom ROM, given that a universal ROM is compatible.
A way to unbrick?
So, I have one and bricked it when flashing a recovery I found when I searched blue advance 5.0 custom recovery on google
when I searched, I used the one I found at the blueroms dot info site
it is now in a boot loop, and I can't access anything except the menu between booting factory mode and recovery
is there a way I can fix it, and flash this?
Thanks!
Thanks for not only the instructions, but for accepting the possibility that I may have figured it out myself.
As a regular linux user, I'm not sure why the xda comunity depends on: SP Flash Tool, MTK VCOM Drivers for Windows and MTK VCOM Drivers for Windows 10 64-bit/32-bit. Especially at this point shouldn't there be some tools from Chrome OS? if not Linux itself? Sorry that's kind of off point, but your help is indeed appreciated.
Trying to Root
Hello everyone, I have been desperately trying to root a Blu Advance 5.0 HD that i just got. It runs Android Version 6.0 Kernal 3.18.19 Custom build BLU_A050U_V04_GENERIC 19-09-2016\
So The farthest i got was clicking download and plugging in the phone. It gives me an error and suggests i Format+download. Doing that semi bricks my phone and i have to flash a oem firmware. I even tried using the oem files and just replacing the recovery which did the trick in making it run, but did not install twrp. What am i doing wrong, Id rather not return the phone but i may if i cannot root it.
Thanks anyone who can assist me!
Nothing happened
Greetings,
I was able to install drivers on the PC and flash the recovery through SPFT and directly from fastboot but it didn't work. Although both methods gave me OK, when I boot into recovery I still get the stock recovery 3e version of the BLU. So, is there something that I'm missing?
Below you will find a download for my modification of a ported Team Hovatek TWRP file as their TWRP did not support OTG. Thanks to Team Hovatek for making a nice porting tool. Unfortunately it took some days and late nights of work to get the ported TWRP to actually be useful as this phone needs OTG support to use TWRP.
When I recently got the Unihertz Atom I didn't realize that it had no micro SD card slot for an external SD card like the Unihertz Jelly Pro had. However it does have OTG support unlike the Jelly Pro but I could not find any TWRP versions for the Atom. So I found a TWRP porting tool from Hovatek and I was able to create a TWRP version but USELESS unfortunately as that version of TWRP did not have OTG support for the Atom.
To make matters worse that TWRP can't deal with the encrypted internal storage of the Atom so there was no way to do a backup of your system. It was possible to format data in TWRP and do a backup to it but upon reboot all that data was gone and reset by the Atom as an essentially new phone being setup for the first time.
I needed a way to modify the ported TWRP so it would recognize an OTG flash drive or USB flash with an OTG cable. I used Image Kitchen to disassemble the original Atom Recovery image and also the modded TWRP recovery image so I could find what was missing from TWRP that was there in the original setup. After a whole lot of reassembling and reflashing various attempts to fix the OTG problem I finally got it. Had to add different lines of code to 3 different files within the unpacked TWRP recovery for it to finally recognize an OTG attached flash drive.
A couple notes on using your external flash drive with TWRP. First you want to insert the flash drive with an appropriate USB type C OTG adapter or cable. Or I see Sandisk (and possibly other brands) are now making a flash drive with USB and Type C dual setup for OTG use.
Bootup your regular phones Android system and look in the pull down notifications - it will ask if you want to use the flash drive as storage. Answer yes and it will then Format it to FAT32 0x0C type which is different than what it was fresh out of the package as most will be FAT32 0x0B type. Once formatted the way the Atom wants it you can use it. However if you put the drive back in your Windows computer it may not see the drive at all. The solution is to open Windows Disk Management and Assign it a drive letter. Once that is done you can read and write to it from both Android and Windows or Linux.
Once that is done you can turn off your phone (IMPORTANT). Do not use any apps that reboot into recovery after installing this TWRP or you will likely just get a black screen and it won't boot up until you reflash the preloader, boot and recovery.
To get into recovery hold down the Volume UP button and the Power button at the same time until you see Unihertz then release both. This is of course after you have flashed TWRP. More on that below. Once your are in TWRP you may have to remove your Flash drive if you had it plugged in during recovery boot up - then reinsert it for TWRP to see it. You can then see it when you mount storage or select storage and it should show the size of your flash drive.
You can then backup your Boot, Recovery, EMMC, System and cache. However the data on the Atom seems to be encrypted in a way that this TWRP does not see it so it will be best to use something like Titanium backup for your Apps and their data. The TWRP though will ensure a complete backup of your system and it's settings as well as the other items mentioned above. I am still looking into why it can't see the encrypted data part of the phone but for now it's nice to have an image of all the rest of the phone. If anyone can help with that I would appreciate it. So far I've tried several 'no encrypt scripts' and ones to turn off DM verity I found on XDA but none of them worked on this phone.
Here is the download of my modded TWRP and also a link for the SHA-256 of it:
TWRP mod: TWRP mod by droidzer1

Notes on Installing this TWRP on your Atom
There are two ways I have used to install this TWRP onto the Atom. One way (and the best way IMO) is to use the SP Flash tool version 5.1828. The other is to use Fastboot. I believe for both methods you need to enable developer options on your phone and turn on OEM unlocking. But if you use Fastboot you also have run the line: "fastboot oem unlock" to install TWRP and that will wipe your phone to a new reset condition plus you will see the 5 second "Orange State" pause screen every time you turn on the phone. To eliminate the "Orange State you can run : "fastboot oem lock" but that will once again totally reset your phone wiping everything including apps and settings. So I prefer using SP Flash tool to avoid all that.
When installing with SP Flash tool I always flash the preloader, boot and recovery (the TWRP modded one) and of course the scatter file. It seems if you don't flash all of those it sometimes doesn't want to boot up.
Also this mod is for the official Unihertz 11-30-2018 ROM version which is the latest update I've seen as of a week ago. I don't know if it will work for other versions. You will want to download that ROM to get the scatter file that is needed by SP Flash tool and it's always good to have an original ROM just in case. Link for the new 11-30-2018 Atom ROM here: 11-30-2018 Atom ROM If you are not on that version you could backup your apps and data with Titanium backup and then install the new ROM while flashing my modded TWRP all at the same time. Just make sure the TWRP you download is named "recovery-verified.img" when you replace the stock one in the SP Flash tool list on the Download page. Also make sure on the tools 'Connections' setting that you check 'Battery installed'.
IMPORTANT!!! - Every version of SP Flash tool I've used shows up as having a virus or trojan and although it may probably be a False positive to be safe I always run Shadow Defender before starting the SP Flash tool. There may be other similar programs but I found this to be one of the best as it totally freezes your computer and hard drive(s) so nothing can be changed or written permanently to them while in Shadow mode. Once you reboot everything is back to a normal state and any changes that may have been made are gone. SP Flash tool available here: SP Flash tool v5.1828 I strongly suggest you use this latest version as previous ones had some issues in completing this project.
A couple quick notes on using the SP Flash tool: It is best to start the tool, have all your items in the check boxes loaded (select scatter file location first) check and locate preloader, boot and recovery - the preloader and boot are from the original ROM you downloaded from the above link. Unzip it and you'll see the needed files inside along with the scatter file.
Once that is ready turn OFF your phone and hook it up with the original USB-C cable to your computer. Wait for it to show the battery charging screen and wait till all that disappears and you have nothing but the black screen. (Or per user SepticFuddy you can hold the Volume Up key while inserting the USB cable and it will connect quickly - I have not tested it this way). Then click on the Flash tool download button. After that you need to push the Atom Power button once briefly - not long enough to turn it on - just a brief click. After that you should see the Flash process going on - it only takes a few seconds to load the preloader, boot and recovery and then you will see a "done" with a big check mark. Remove your phone then and boot into your regular Android OS or use Volume Up and the Power key to boot into your TWRP. :highfive:
Why TWRP doesn't work with Encryption - from TeamWin
I guess this may explain why it is unlikely to get TWRP to work with the encrypted data partition - straight from Teamwin's TWRP website:
"Why doesn't TWRP support encryption on my device?
TWRP encryption is supported in 2 phases. The first item is keeping up with the newest support from AOSP, which can require lot of changes and integration with the new AOSP release. This can take time especially if we have to wait for reference devices to test with. The second item is custom blob support and integration with device OEM firmware.
Even if your device supports AOSP encryption and decryption, it usually requires custom blob support. The process of figuring this out may take time and may never be done. Some vendors such as Samsung use their own encryption techniques. Without heavy deconstruction/decompiling of custom library blobs, and successful ports by an active maintainer, this may never be done. Encryption support is a nice thing to have in TWRP, and not a must have support option. We feel that the ability to backup system and install custom firmware can outweigh having no TWRP support at all."
From: TWRP Website FAQ on Encryption
How I fixed TWRP
For anyone who wants to try the mods their self if you don't trust using the recovery I uploaded I believe these are the changes I made to the ported TWRP. You need of course the porting tool from Hovatek and after you have ported your original recovery you will want to use Image Kitchen to make these mods to the ported image:
Use Image Kitchen to unpack the ported TWRP recovery. In the Ramdisk folder this line "ro.agui.otg_usbdisk=yes" orginally found in the prop.default of the original recovery needs to be put into the file "default.prop" which is a different file name than the original but I am sure is the same purpose and was referenced in the original by a small file with that name.
Then this line "/dev/mt_otg_test(/.*)? ubject_r:mt_otg_test_device0" from the original recovery image in the file "nonplat_file_contexts" I believe I copied into the file "file_contexts" in the TWRP image in the Ramdisk folder.
Note - the above code line that has a smiley in it is because there is the letter "o" followed by a colon. Replace the smiley with "o" and : no spaces between it and the letter 'u' before it or between 'o' and :
I think the third file I modified was found in the unpacked folder /ramdisk/etc in the file 'recovery.fstab' and I took this line "/devices/platform/mt_usb* auto vfat defaults voldmanaged=usbotg:auto " from it to add to the same file in the ported TWRP. Then just repack everything in Image Kitchen and you should have a TWRP recovery that works with OTG.
If you aren't familiar with how to use Image Kitchen it would be best to google how to use it. I have left out some of the basics such as needing to Copy the “recovery.img-kernel” and “recovery.img-kernel_offset” from the unpacked stock recovery and overwrite those two files in ported TWRP folder. Best to look for an instruction article on techora.net about porting TWRP on mediatek devices.
Thank you, it's awesome! But how did you manage to flash Magisk? I can't flash it as /data and /storage can't be mounted.
You should be able to flash it with Fastboot by using command:
fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched_boot.img OR simply put it in the fastboot folder and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img (the patched boot image)
You may want to review info on the Magisk thread here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
This method of course is done with you computer and USB cable attached to the Atom. Make sure you have correct drivers for it to fully recognize your phone.
A bit more info from topjohnwu's Magisk thread mentioned above:
Via Magisk Manager:
This method does not need root, and also does not require a custom recovery.
However, you MUST have a stock boot image dump beforehand, and you also have to be able to flash the patched boot image, either through fastboot/download mode or ODIN
Install the latest Magisk Manager
If you're planning to flash the patched boot image through ODIN, go to Settings > Update Settings > Patched Boot Output Format, and select .img.tar. For normal users leave it as the default .img
Press Install > Install > Patch Boot Image File, and select your stock boot image file
Magisk Manager will now patch your boot image, and store it in [Internal Storage]/Download/patched_boot.img[.tar]
Copy the patched boot image to your PC. If you can't find it via MTP, you can pull the file with ADB:
adb pull /sdcard/Download/patched_boot.img[.tar]
Flash the patched boot image to your device and reboot. Here is the command if using fastboot:
fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched_boot.img
If the above method fails for some reason you should also be able to flash to patched boot image with SP flash tools as long as you have the scatter file for the ROM you have installed on your phone. As I mentioned if you flash the patched boot image that way I found it best to also flash the preloader and recovery at the same time.
Cannot mount /data
What you did here was remarkable. I love the Atom so I never tried to tinker with recovery since I might end up with a bootloop. I hope we find a solution soon on how to mount /data.
post-root network failure
First off thank you for doing the research and posting in the thread to help us root this awesome little device.
I followed your steps to the "T" and I was able to successfully patch magisk and re-download it back onto my atom and it was rooted BUT, there seems to be some sort of network issue that I'm stuck on, I'm unable to turn on the wi-fi and bluetooth and every few seconds I keep getting an error message that says "bluetooth keeps stopping" consistently whenever I have the phone on.
I was wondering If you had any idea on what might be causing this, or if you had this problem.
thank you, and I look forward to hearing back from you
droidzer1, Finally got to post now and wanted to thank you for your work on the Atom. I got it rooted and got TWRP working too with only some frustrations because I got in a hurry and missed a detail the first try. I haven't found any problems and have had it running about 2 weeks now with root and TWRP. Nice to have root and of course great to be able to do a whole system backup now!

Were you able to get this fixed? Doesn't look like droizer1 has been on here recently. Mine didn't have either of those issues. Have you tried doing a factory reset and doing the whole process over? I think sometimes just a computer PC might glitch something on your phone so doing it over might skip the hiccup.

Since droidzer1 first posted this in early January you might try using the version of Magisk that was available at that time as I think by later March when you posted there was a newer version out and I've found some versions of Magisk to not work a hundred percent and had to use an older version on some phones.
The latest Magisk (19100) + Xposed (v90 beta 3) work fine for me using the TWRP posted above, in case people were wondering about it.

Lost in reboot ...
Hi
I urgently need some help. I seem to be lost...
I have successfully installed TWRP on my Unihertz atom. And I can manage to go into either TWRP mode or into fastboot mode.
I can also successfully unlock the Unihertz atom with:
fastboot oem unlock-go
But what is next?
If I reboot, my phone constantly reboots. It cycles into reboot without Android coming up.
(perhaps I made something wrong).
What I actually want is: The phone should boot including Magisk.
Can anyone please help me what commands I have to issue (with the phone connected to my linux computer via USB) in order
to recover to a normal reboot? Which image-file should I use (please provide URL)?
Can anyone please help me what commands I have to issue to flash Magisk?
Which image-files I should use (please provide URL)?
If somebody has a custom rom or lineageOS rom I would be even happier ...
Thanks a lot.
Thank you
Confirmed working with the Android 9 Pie 2019082617 ROM, latest Magisk 19.3 (19300), latest Riru core v19.5, latest Riru- EdXposed v0.4.5.1b (4463) (SandHook). EdXposed seems hit or miss after a reboot though, getting it to stick may take a few installations.
To get SP Flashtool to work, I had to hold the Volume Up key while inserting the USB cable and it would instantly connect, rather than following the OP's instructions of just inserting the cable and waiting for a black screen.
I'd love to see a custom ROM like LineageOS or something, but this is will have to do for now.

Thanks for the mention of a quicker method. I've updated my post to include your info.

Me too!! LineageOS for the Unihertz Atom would be great!
The hadrware of the Uniherz Atom is just great, is is small and it is dual-sim. This is unique in the market.
I would be even willing to contribute with 100,- EUR if somebody delivers a working LineageOS ROM.
Any body interested? :highfive:

The main problem is that unihertz never released their source code (despite being obliged to do so according to the android licensing contract).
There are some bits in the official mediatek kernel source tree (https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/mediatek/) but I doubt that this would be enough to build something stable out of it.
@droidzer1 Hey there, what is the difference between your modded TWRP and this test release by the TWRP Builder Project asside from the TWRP version?

I'm not sure what the difference is except I came out with mine in January and theirs came out in March. Theirs is about 4 Megabytes bigger - maybe a newer version (mine is 3.2.1-0). I contacted 'bigbiff' at TWRP about mine when I had it working but they were not interested unless I had a device tree which I didn't so they didn't want to post it on their site.
Great, thanks for your reply. I am satisfied with you version, so I will just keep using it.
