Hi
I couldnt find anywhere to ask this question but can i make it work with my htc sensation which has Jelly Bean but no NFC.
Afaik NFC only makes it easier to pair but i can do that with bluetooth, right? Every place i read it says "works with every Android 4.0+ devices with NFC" so I had to ask. I hope it works.
It has custom rom(ViperS) with JB on it but i can go back to stock which has ICS.

Just a few questions. How does it effect phone's battery life? My sensation cant even make one day without charge. Do i have to run bluetooth all the time? How much does it eat battery? %20?
Is there an app we can use watch as a numeric keybad and send sms, whatsapp... message with it?
Can i play some decent game on that?
I can notice no difference in my phone's battery at all.
Bluetooth is on all the time, but it's hardly sending any data.
NFC is only used to indicate to your phone where to download the Sony Smartwatch software, it doesnt do anything else. I would have much more like to have a notification light

1. doesnt really affect the battery
2. yes of course you have to keep bt on all the time. if it is not on, your sw2 is disconnected from the phone. But keeping it on doesnt mean that there is happening anything between the watch and the phone. every data goes via bt from the phone to the watch. if you get a sms, your watch will notify about it and the bt connection is only "on" that time. rest of the time it is in the backround and consuming battery less. how much? no one can tell that.
3. yes, there are some sms composer to write text messages. yes, there is whatsapp app... go to google play store and search for "smartwatch". you will see differend kind of apps for sony sw2.
4. It's a watch.

Going to be pairing it with my HTC Evo 3D:highfive:
Sony site says it doesn't work but everywhere else says it does
I know to go ahead and buy this here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alk.k9
But is there anything else I should go and get for it?
Also anyway to get custom watch faces without them being widgets? I don't want one that battery drains.
There's not other smartwatch faces just the few than Sony provides. I recommend you WatchIt! For all notifications be available on your watch.

There are a few watch faces that come with the watch. Anything outside of that selection will drain your battery well enough since it will eb running as a widget or an app. Sony wont let the custom watch faces replace the stock one.

That's what I figured.. Hopefully something changes with the watch being open now.
But I will just stick with what it has when I get it.
happy
my order should be coming home, I'm excited
My Watch came in the mail today! been using it for a couple hours and I love it!
Only have 2 issues with it.
1. is a known problem the double tap to on, not a huge deal since I'm used to pressing a button to turn on watch (previous watch was Virtue's Last Reward Watch)
2. Reading emails/notifications on watch doesn't mark them as read. anyone know a way around this? Specifically for gmail.
sure you will get it~~ I love this watch deeply as well!:fingers-crossed:
mines coming in the mail as well. i cannot wait to get it
Mine is coming right on my birthday... Can't wait to check it out... The Sony website says that my phone is compatible....
But I'm afraid..
I rooted my phone and flashed a custom cm10.1 ROM. Will it still work?... My phone has stock GB... No ICS+ support.. So will my watch work with the custom cm10.1 ROM or should I go back to stock GB for it to work? Pls answer...

I currently use Sony smartwatch with my tab mounting cm10.1
Before I used with standard stock ROM GB 2.3.6 without much problems. When I move to cm10.1 I was very disappointed to discover that the watch was continousely disconnected after few minute of regular connection It seemed the bluetooth stack was gone in deep sleep after few minutes the tab entered in standby modality. Finally I solved with a nice utility in the playstore named "bluetooth keep alive". Basically it continousely wake up bluetooth maintaining the bluetooth connection active. With this utility installed my smartwatch si abile to maintain a stabile connection with my tag falso when it goes in atandby mode. Unfortunately the program it si notte free but at least in my case solve the problem so it is woth to consider thia option in case you got similar problem.

I don't know much about the e-mail notification part. For the double tap, here's what I like to do to fix that. Install an app called smart alarm. Basically it makes your watch use the sensors on it to detect your sleeping. Turn the app on, go into the settings and turn the alarm on. Then turn the alarm off, turn the app off. Every time I do this, it seems to make the watch respond properly to taps again. I wear mine on a security badge lanyard around my neck and I used my thumb to "pop" it like a bass player would use his thumb. Every time I do those steps with smart alarm, it's like a little kick to the watch to play nice again.
looks pretty sweet to me
hi, I read that google now ("ok google") only activates when the screen is on. I was wondering if theres a hack or setting somewhere where you can activate it with the screen off? I mostly want this for hands-free use in the car, so I can avoid having to touch the phone while driving (big no no).
also, is there a site somewhere explaining all the features of what you can say/ask google now? or even a link with comparisons between siri and google now, and what google now cant do that siri does? I ask this cuz ill be coming from iPhone.
thanks.
I think that would really drain the battery - if possible!
However, here is a collection on some of the commands you can ask google now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961636
I'm really surprised how great it works! And i live in Denmark, where i can't even take full use of everything
samsung has had this with s-voice. and i think motorola enabled google now to do this on the motox but i'm not sure. yes it drains battery, but how much? depends on the cpu and driver and the software involved..... i don't have my nexus yet so i can't say "how" to do this but i would expect it to be an eventual custom feature if not a future update if it's not already in a setting somewhere.

Everything I've read has claimed that the Nexus 5 should handle this as well as MotoX since it has the Snapdragon 800. Have we ever gotten an official answer on why this won't work?

hey thanks for the link. battery drain wouldn't be too much of an issue, as usually I would just use it while the device is being charged in my car, but it would be nice to use sometimes without as well, and while leaving the screen on would be nice, a slow charging car charger, is going to charge faster with the screen off, as that's usually the most power hungry lol. so it would be nice to have the voice activation at will while using.
If some of the launcher/search code was open source, I'd imagine this would be quite easy to do.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that the 'always listening' (for "OK Google" command) requires some hardware functionality. So no, it would not be possible like it is on the Moto X.

i'd imagine you could port parts of the moto x rom into the nexus. things like this have been done before. just have to find all the dependancies.

I mean, if you had access to the facilities used by the n5 launcher source, you could likely utilize them when screen is off via software pretty easily.

Yes. But from what I understand the snapdragon 800 has that hardware built in.

Video is about 1/2 way down on the right. Processor is capable.
Lets see if I can't clear things up. If you want your phone to be always listening, you need hardware support for it unless you want your phone to die in a matter of hours. If you are okay with this , check out this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RSen.OpenMic.Pheonix It also lets you configure things like only when charging or just when the screen is on to save some battery, and its actually a very nice app overall. Worth checking out.
The Moto x has a special custom chip set that allows for this always listening. Any attempt to port that feature from the Moto x would fail, as the Nexus 5 doesn't have the same chip set. The nexus 5 however, does have hardware that allows for always listening, its part of the Snapdragon 800 SOC that powers this phone, along with the Note 3 and LG G2.
But getting the feature to actually work on our phones, even with the hardware, is by no means an easy task. Read the comments on this post if you want to get an idea for what this entails. https://plus.google.com/112424215551484520138/posts/AznwFxbBapJ
So is it possible? Yes. But it is not something that is gonna be a quick easy port of small modification of an existing app, it would take some real serious work form (maybe a team even of) good Dev's to make this function.
Sorry if its not the news you wanted to hear.

If you're plugged in/wireless charging Google Now Voice commands work with the screen off.
Settings>Language & Input > Voice Input> Enhanced Google services> "OK Google" Detection>From any screen> enabled
"responds to your voice. Works when the screen is on or the device is charging."
make sure the next option "personal results" is also enabled if you want Google Now to be able to do anything
Try this app, Open Mic+. It'll do the job.
Hey. I've got this problem with Bluetooth, where it just stops responding after a while. Suppose I just enabled Bluetooth (first time for this boot). Bluetooth will work for a while, but after some time (an hour or so?), it just stops working. It stops detecting new devices, devices already connected stop working, and disabling Bluetooth and trying to re-enable it gets stuck on "Turning on Bluetooth..." It's fixed after a reboot, but stops working again some time after enabling. This is pretty bad, since I use my Wiimote for gaming.
Can anybody reproduce this, and can anybody help? I don't think it matters, but the game I'm playing is Beach Buggy Blitz, and the Wiimote app I'm using is Wiimote Controller by C.C.P. [email protected] Thanks.
Bump; nobody? Oh, come on!
Hey,
Sorry for the late reply. I must have overlooked it :silly:
Now: my Bluetooth problem is even worse. It does connect with devices(and it stays till I turn it oof), but it refuses to transport data! I noticed when I wanted to use my dockstation. My friend was there, and I wanted to play some music with loud boxes. It started connecting, and said: ''connected''. But it refused to play music. My Phone would vibrate and say: 'can't play audio''.
I tried to connect with my firends Samsung Galxy SIII. Again, it would connect, but it didn't transfer data. I tried with my mom her phone, but no. No data transfer.
So yeah. I'm stuck here. In stock, bluetooth works fine, but on CM10 not. Count in the baseband and battery bug, and I'm losing my interest in this ROM! Let's hope CM11 will fix all of this. I have no solution whatsoever, and allthough my problem differs a bit, I also have a bluetooth problem!
Have a nice day.

I would switch to stock, as soon as I can make GravityBox to work on it. Till then... CM10 it is.

How to connect my second phone to smartwatch2?
If I have understood this right it's not possible to connect with 2 phones. It's possible but you have to reset the watch and pair it with the other phone, everytime you switch between phones.
Skickat via Tapatalk
When I changed my phone I made a backup from the first, restore on the new and re-paired the SW2 on new phone. I keep all my app, config and data.
So with same app on 2 phone, you can change from one to another no ? maybe not so simple but possible.
I have two phones, u mean every time im using I have to reset the watch??
thats what i have had to do.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes and no. Your reset the watch, but your actual settings for apps and all are in the phone. So each phone can have different smartwatch apps installed and they'll all work separately.
But you can't be connected to both at the same time.
If you are try to let SW2 receive notification from two of your phone, you can try Notify My Android which can push second phone's notification to main phone.
Pretty nonsense since every bluetooth headset from sony can pair with two phones/tablet (not at the same time, obviously).
Hope they will fix with an update.

Xiaomi and Huawei both have good ones. And if you're complaining that those aren't 'power house' enough go get a HTC One M8 dual-sim if you can find one. Or an S4 Dual Sim.
Your smartwatch 2 can do the same, effectively. You just can't connect with two phones at the same time.
Sony bluetooth headsets like the HBH-DS970 and the MW600 can connect to 2 or more phones, but to do that, you have to switch profiles on the headset (with a switch or setting)
the SW2 doesn't have that profile switch and therefor cannot support 2 phones
i doubt it's an 'issue' they will fix, good luck asking Sony

Then just re-pair when you switch phones. My wife sometimes uses my watch, so she installs whatever apps she wants, then when I pass the watch to her she just does a reset and re-pair, works fine.
Its not functionally any different from how the MN2 works.
And please, what's with the exclamation marks?
Hi guys, i'm coming from the Moto 360 Sport, and interested in getting the Huawei Watch 2 Sport, simple because Moto crippled it after the AW 2.0 upgrade, ridiculously slow to use now.
With the Moto 360 Sport, it did have a display feature called "AnyLight ", that displays in 'any light' and i loved that.
Motorola accomplishes it by combining a traditional backlit LCD in "transmissive" display with reflective backing. Or something like that.
Anyway, I really like this feature, see screens attached.
I was wondering what the Huawei Watch 2 Sport/Classic screens look like in dim/ambient mode. Does it have this idea?
Anyone care to share some photo of this, as I've read/watched so many reviews, but cannot see what this looks like.
Thanks a lot.
Darren.
Hw2 is amoled so in ambient modes is uses much much less battery because of the black pixels being off, but this feature that you're talking about is not available in hw2, however the watch display is very sharp and shiny even in direct sun light.
also be aware that amoled screens get damaged (burn-in issue) if a pixel is on a particular color for a long time, meaning that for example on ambient mode there are numbers around the screen that are always on, this may cause those numbers to burn in the screen so even when you are in a completely different screen, you will still see those numbers! (for more info google Burn-in)
Just adding to what was already said regarding burn in. Most watch face makers that support ambient move include a feature which shifts the pixels around ever so slightly to prevent burn in. A very simple yet elegant solution to the problem.

yeah if that's as you said it would be great, I havent noticed it yet
So I just found something interesting. Under developer options > Wear Developer options there is a "force anti burn" setting. Set this up now to give it a try.

hi seems like relevant topic for my question.
are there many disadvantages to get the wifi only (non 4G) of this huawei watch 2? (i get the obvious i cant put sim card and get direct internet connection of course). for example:
will the NFC still works on the non 4G model?
how about the xda community ie root twrp and custom rom? less or more than global version?
any other important things i need to know when deciding to get wifi only or 4G?
thank you.

sorry got it mixed up. before, i thought GPS live tracking need constant internet connection and you dont want to carry your phone while jogging.

also by googling i think NFC works on both model but ofcourse the wifi model will need to be connected to phone to be able to use NFC android pay for example, i assumed
