yes i tried it many times but i encountered the same problem everytime

now recovery is working again somehow but its still unable to delete cache and delvik cache .
everytime i try to flash custom rom by adb sideload it stucks on "deleting cache and delvik cache"

try an ruu

fastboot erase cache
Try erasing your cache partition from bootloader.
Get into fastboot USB mode and:
fastboot erase cache

btw this guide applies to all roms not just ICS
jist: Take the boot.img out of the rom zip. and type the command in a cmd window running in the same folder as the boot.img
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
Make sure you have ADB & Fastboot installed

i typed fastboot reboot and it booted the gingerbread rom i had and its still boot looping...how do i go to recovery to flash the miui rom so it can actually boot...im s-on and unlocked. i can get as far as fast boot boot.img and it saying OKAY while im in the bootloader..just dont know what to do next..
You did install clockworkmod recovery, right? If so, just yank the battery then put it back in. Hold the volume down button and power at the same time, you'll enter the bootloader (make sure not to have the phone plugged in while doing this or it won't work). Press volume down till you highlight Recovery, then press power to enter it.

flash my MIUI rom, then extract the boot.img from that rom zip and perform the steps I listed in my last post
i did it...it took me a while but i did it...i hate htc phones. you all actually helped me, ill show you what i did...after the last command, i wiped data, cache, and dalvik and then i flashed miui (which my friend loves by the way)
weekends should have my wipe scripts back up for me in another day or two, they are in the batch of files i'm sending him tonight. May help with stuff like this in the future to give a clean start.

[Q] ROMs not working

Hi:
I need ROMS that allow for bluetooth tethering. I have gotten pyr-o-ice_ICS_1.0.2 to work, but it does not seem to want to use 4G. The best I can get is 3G. I am also having problems with some apps I use a lot (like Kindle). So, I would like to try some other ROMS. I have tried Wildchild_IcE_Rom_v0.9 and cm-9.1.0-doubleshot, but both get stuck on their splash screen during boot.
This phone still has S-ON, but I am flashing a new boot.img with each new OS.
So, can I get these ROMs to work? Or, can you guys suggest a ROM I should be using?
Thanks.
What's your wipe method. And are you fastbooting the new kernel? Most likely its one of two things, a bad download (md5 sum not being checked or a failure to wipe the device.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I am using the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508556. I
Extract the "boot.img" file from the zip file on my PC
Boot the phone into fastboot mode and connect it to the PC
Run fastboot flash boot boot.img. I am making sure I am using the right one.
Reboot the phone into Recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache parition
Flash the zip file.
Reboot the phone
Isn't that right?
I have downloaded cm-9.1.0-doubleshot twice and still no go.
Yeah but only for flashing the boot.img, so if you followed that exactly and only did what that guide says you didn't wipe the device in recovery at all so that's why its failing to boot

Format system, data, cache, and dalvik( in mounts menu ), wipe data factory reset then flash
Sent from a KangBanged JellyBAM
You can always
fastboot wipe system -w
Being you'll need to be @ a pc to fastboot flash the kernel
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk 2
And ALWAYS flash the kernel last. You're going to have a few that work fine but 80% of developers wipe the boot partition when setting the mount points from the updater script before starting the new ROM flash. Not all....but most do.
Thanks! I got things working.
For the record, I
Extract the "boot.img" file from the zip file on my PC
Reboot the phone into Recovery
Perform a nandroid backup
Wipe data/factory reset
Format system, data, and cache (my machine does not have dalvik. Also, I think data and cache were already done by the previous wipes)
Boot the phone into fastboot mode and connect it to the PC
Run fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot the phone into Recovery
Flash the zip file
Reboot the phone.
"fastboot wipe system -w" did not work for me. On my version wipe is not an option. Looking on the web, I found "fastbook erase system -w". However when I tried that, I got an error that said "FAILED <remote not allowed>"
Thanks again
Im sorry wasn't thinking
fastboot erase system -w
Is the proper command, you aren't allowed because you don't have an engieneering bootloader, I would definitely recommend one as it can help out wonders if you run into issues in the future

Why haven`t you made a nandroid backup first after you flashed TWRP? Have you cleared the cache after flashing TWRP: fastboot erase cache in adb? If nothing else works reflash the stock recovery and clear cache afterwards or reflash the factory image as a last resort.

wipe cache, data, system, and dalvik to completely clean it off then reflash the rom. if all else fails go back to what ever you were using before. creating a back up is a MUST before flashing anything new. also make sure you are flashing the correct gapps file with whatever version of android your rom is running.

Don't want to hijack this thread but we need more info, if you get signature errors then try to reflash recovery and make sure that your download rom zip is not corrupted. (e.g: Download it again)
I have never seen gapps do this before.
You need to have proper drivers to use your device's fastboot function.
I have installed google usb drivers adb work fine exept the command adb shell it's give me error I don't have CWM for my devices , i send the romto sdcard with adb command with a nameupdate.zip I go to android system recovery try to instal the file it's give me a signature error i tryed also a CM version but it's giving me error 7
