[Q] Battery life after updates? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've been looking to get a Nexus 5, but one of the things I've heard is that the battery life isn't great. What sort of battery life do you guys get? Have any of the updates improved it?
Thanks in advance.

Battery life has always been good for me. Most "battery problems" are network signal related.
I use a custom kernel....

With so many apps, how's your battery life like? Does it take a big hit?
If I install so many apps maybe there will be many running in the background draining battery, right?

I greenify anything I don't want / need running in the background.
Battery life is and has always been great for me on the n5
Edit...before bed...

I cant complain about battery life. It depends like in all phones how you use it. Some may experience *short* battery time because they flipping they phone on all the time I have always most battery consumed by screen.

Battery drain and temperature help

Hi all,
I am on stock Froyo with Bloatware freezing all of Tmobile apps.
I understand that there are a few threads about this topic, and I have gone over those. I am trying to understand about my particular battery drainage, and high temperatures.
I have been running battery monitor for a few days collecting data and monitoring the patterns and for some reason the battery drains a lot when listening to online radio over the 4g or doing minor things.
Most of the days I am listening to the radio coming in to work and leaving work. Thats about it.
I am attaching the following images.

Also, the temperature gets to about 40 C pretty regularly when listening to the radio.
Here is a snapshot of that.
Exchange your battery.
G2x with faux AOSP
Call LG or Tmobile? I am in Canada, so not sure if Tmobile will like me.
LG would be my guess.

The battery drivers on the stock G2x device/kernel are a total fail, this is a known issue since Day 2. There are rumors of stuff in the works either on the T-T&T and LG end or with the chefs here.
Until then just do what it takes to conserve. There are many threads already deep in discussion and analysis regarding this so you should probably do a search or you can jump over to one of the latest: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045616
...start at the 'last' page and work backwards looking for posts by "me" and the folks I was conversing with, should be helpful.

Don't let your battery get below 10%?
The system is designed so that when the battery gets too low it turns off a lot of stuff so that the device will last for longer to do what it was actually made for - be a phone.

Indeed often the cpu is slowed down to which would cause lag.
But yes the best thing to stop it would be to keep your phone charged

Random battery drain. Please look at pictures

I have been running CleanRom 3.0 for about 7 months now and have been getting great battery life. For the last week or so I have been getting horrible battery life and i cannot figure out why. I have not done anything different or added any apps since the fall. I have done all the tips and tricks to saving battery ....display set at 10%/30 seconds, All notifications turned off, gps off, bluetooth off etc... I can usually get an average of 22 hours before needing to look for a charger.
Today:
10.5 hours and 12% left. Not even 2 hours of screen time. I have phone forced on 3g and get good reception at my home where I was for most of the day.
Can someone please give me some insight here? maybe I'm missing something??

Maybe your battery itself.
There are far to many variables that play a part in battery life.
Look into 5.6 and remember to toggle off data and WiFi when not in use.
Worth a try.
Edit: now I clearly see you toggle WiFi and data off when not in use. Haha sorry.

Agreed, try changing kernel or kernel settings, gov types, speeds, tweak options.
Sometimes it take alot of trial and error to figure out the best rom/kernel combos. May also have to change a few things in the rom and/or kernel to do so. Goodluck!
You can try an app call "Better Battery Stats"

[Q] Event Wakelock

Does anyone have any idea what these event wakelocks are? They are draining a lot of battery, and as you can see from the screenshots, my battery appears to be substantially worse than everyone else's. I'm not exactly a power user either!
I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.
Here are some screenshots: https://plus.google.com/photos/+LewisLebentz/albums/6047049438489245601?sort=1
I have included pictures of the built in battery page, on screen time, awake time and a screenshot from WLD.
I have them too. But only recently. I'm on PA beta 2, AK stable Kernel 30.
As you can see Android os is eating away the battery.

I have them as well. No idea what they mean though. On Mahdi + Franco.
Trying out AK, getting them on here too. All kernel wakelocks
Guys, wakelocks are normal and needed. There are times when they are excessive though. I think bacon-599 has a better discussion on battery drain than worrying about a few minor wakelocks. 10 minutes in a few hours isn't that bad.

I don't think so. Not sure what the issue is.
Oh BACON-599 refers to issue 599 on cms issue tracker where bacon is the device specific project.
Issue tracker is at jira.cyanogenmod.org

Battery consumption history

Hi!
I don't understand why they didn't put this by default on the device but, could you guys recommend me a good app to check my detailed battery consumption, like any other normal android smartphone?

Glad to hear that mate, I also bought the pro version since I have used it on each phone since the past 3 years or so and really like the dark mode that comes with it
Oppo should include it by default. At this price you're not supposed to compromise. Let's hope they implement it in a future update.
