Exactly as long as they release it somwhere in September ill be happy
Yeah it's probably getting held back for Rogers to test and or lock up the phone like the whole HTC Dream fiasco.
And here i thought, we canadian beat the US for the first time having x10 in our country before them... but now we are last in our update. Where is our justice!

Actually, they say that it will be released sometime between October 1 and December 31. Makes some sense, as it's not expected to be released anywhere until the end of September, and if it falls even a week after that it'll be October.
With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if it does take Rogers until December. Have they even released 026 yet? That's why I rooted and went with the generic ROM. Been running 026 for like a month-and-a-half.
As others have said, as long as a generic X10a firmware gets posted somewhere, we'll be set.
I think Canadian cell phone users were anticipating this though. It happens all the time. For once I almost thought we'd be close to par but I saw that tweet earlier as well.
Ah well. Thankfully there's a strong online community and we'll have this minutes after it's released

So just wondering, is debranding the same thing as unlocking? I'm looking at the tutorial in Xperiax10.net... they say it might brick the phone so I'm hesitating slightly...

Debrand = remove operator logos, apps (bloatware), etc. Lets you use generic FW and FW from other carriers
Unlocking = allows you to use your phone on a different carrier. No more binding to carriers. You'll want to debrand your phone and use a generic FW once it's released... we'll definitely be getting a late update from Rogers.
Absolute BS. Hmm, to change phone or not.. I wonder if we will actually get One-Finger Zoom?

Aww. :-( ....
I dont believe theyve announced an official date yet, still just Summer 2011. The best question is whether AT&T and samsung are going to release an official update for the US Infuse to match the Canadian version with its 2.3 and 1080p.

They're too busy wondering how they're going to spin the Marketing on 3G being 4G once all the other carriers move from 4G to 5G in 2014 when AT&T still is finishing rolling out 3G, haha
When can any carrier be bothered with big OTA updates like gingerbread? They dont care. They figure we bought the phone already so they have their money, why should they spend money giving us what we deserve?

I did do a search regarding this, but if info has been posted please give me a link,
I have been having issues with the call quality of this phone, i have had a few discussions with AT&T regarding it.. anyways i called HTC and they were very helpful and even acknowledged there is a issue. i was told that there is a OTA update that is being sent out to address this issue, i am currently using build number 2.47.502.7 CL93396 which came with the update back in 08/08/11 . Has anyone else received the update yet, if so what is the build number ? and did it improve call quality ?

Our updates aren't controlled by HTC. All US phone updates are controlled by the carriers. Only European and unbranded phones phones will get the update from HTC. As all our updates have to be approved by ATT
That rep was probably talking about the recently released update for the Desire HD. Unfortunately, this update doesn't include the Inspire.

They most likely did send it to ATT but that is where it will most likely stay. You would be amazed how many WM releases we had that HTC pushed and sent to carriers that never made it to devices. She was right on her end. They are pushing the update but here in the states no OEM controls the software updates. Our carrier does
Yea that's how it goes all my HTC phones in the past got updates but way slower then UK and unbranded due to the FCC we might never get updates like Europe my Verizon wireless phone HTC incredible got a 2.3 update that was very much needed but we never expected vzw to send it out there was like 4 delays and one day it was out lol

Yeah. I read that the desire hd has gotten sense 3.0 update from htc. I hope the inspire will get it. Either sense 3 or ice cream sandwich. At least HTC isn't like samsung. I think when my contract ends in 2013 I'm gonna get a nexus. Reason I didn't get the nexus s was because it was made by samsung. And I had a captivate and had so much trouble with samsung....

Been on ATT smartphones for far to long to hold out any hope. Once the phone goes EOL it is company policy that no more updates are to be given. Per ATT guidlines phones go EOL after 8 months. But here to hoping lol
Now that the international version has gotten it, how long do you think before us verizon users get it? I'm guessing 6 months if history is any indicator.

What phones was Verizon last to get updates? People have been saying this before VZW even started getting the same phones as other carriers. It's like comparing oranges to apples. VZW has only had exclusive phones like the droid line and the incredible /rezound before the S3..For the S3, note 2, S4, ALL carriers INCLUDING VZW had them and I had updates same time as anyone else.
Can someone elaborate on what phones Verizon took months to update?

In my personal experience, the DroidX, Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Maxx. Google would release a version, the manufacturer would have to apply their changes and then Verizon had final approval. Not only does the handset manufacturer have to update for their kernel, UI (Sense, Blur (back in the day), etc.) but they would then put VZW's crap in there as well. 6 months was typical.

Those are VZW exclusive phones. We don't know if it was the manufacturer's fault or Verizon. It could've been Motorola's and Samsung's fault for the delay. That's why I said you can't compare exclusive phones.
I'm pretty sure a manufacturer would work harder and faster to update a phone that carriers across the globe have versus a phone that only one carrier in the world has. Example: Motorola X vs Maxx

GNex was by no means VZW exclusive.Sprint had an LTE version and GSM models were available in the Play Store.
But your point is valid - the bulk of the delay is with the manufacturer putting their crap on top of Android. Verizon has nothing to do in this process but approve - they're accepting delivery of the product when the manufacturer is done with it. That can still take a bit - I participated in several soak tests with Motorola where they are done with the update and they're testing the delivery. In a few cases there was a 2 week gap from the time of the completion of the soak test to the time it was released and that's Verizon, at least according to the Motorola employees in their forums.

Are we still talking the m8? I've had my m8 since day 1 and the first update we got was AFTER a few other carriers already got EPSM. And I was stoked we would have it. If you check around it was suppose to be promised to tmobile a few days ago, so, knowing Verizon and the ungodly amount of bloat they shove down our throats and how they disable features because 'they' think they are not useful, i predict into February easy.
I miss the days when these RUUs leaked early. I'm not sure why that stopped.

If memory served me correct it was someone by the name of 'football' who leaked them. Maybe he got fired lolz.
I am considering jumping ship from HTC and getting a nexus 5x, I am just frustrated with 'Verizon Certified' stuff. it is usually a bunch of bloatware and then they go in and disable features. Besides HTC will only support the device for 2 years. I like the idea of the software update coming directly from Google; like Apple does it, zero carrier intervention is the way to go.
Not sure I know anyone with a nexus 5x to ask what they think.
No one knows. HTC promised it by the end of last year, but they only made that deadline for the international version. The US isn't a priority in Taiwan.
You can run Santod's NuSenSeveN if you're S-OFF. That's pretty close to what we'll get, minus bloatware. And it pretty much runs perfectly. I'm currently on Captain's GPE, which was made for Sprint but works just fine on Verizon.
I'm going to Project Fi in June, just as soon as my contract is up. To the day. I'm jumping to a 128GB 6P.

Check Best Buy. I heard they were carrying the 6P. Might have the 5X as well. No guarantees though. YouTube should have some videos. I like Marques Brownlee. His specialty is cameras (pro grade) so when he talks about a phone's camera, he knows what he's talking about. And he's well versed in the other aspects as well. Here's his review of the Nexus 5X.
