[Q] I get error flashing acer iconia a1-810 - General Questions and Answers

Hi
after rooting my acer iconia a1-810, tablet keeps locking screen after 0,5 sec. so I can't enable usb debugging and I can't install different rom with Acer Iconia v0.8.1 toolkit
So i tried install different rom from system recovery, but I get check.partition.size=[__PROP_UNDEFINED__] error,
maybe somebody know how to fix this error ?

This error like error in rom file. In this situation you can help rom build author. Or needs more details.

I installed RV18RC07_WW_GEN1 rom from [ToolKit] Acer Iconia v0.8.1 page, first I stuck in boot loop. than i tried install update.zip for that rom, during installation proccess I got that partition error, but my iconia after restart booted up, but stuck with always locking screen.
probably I chose wrong rom version for rooting
maybe I can revert that process or install decent rom via fastboot, what do you think ?

after all my screen wasnt locking down, just lights turned off after half sec. pressing volume up and down I kept screen on, and I manage to enable usb debugging mode in menu.
I unrooted with RV18RC07 stock image, but it did not solved my problem.
Can I flash different rom for example stock RV03RC08 over stock RV18RC07 on acer iconia a1-810 ?

check it maybe will help, good luck !
I bought my Acer A1-810 it’s 2,5 months (from amazon). And few days ago I decided to root it. 1 hour later i realized that was not a really good idea, because i did not know much things about, and it was not as easy as I thought. and voila as a result : bootloop !
I tried different roms, different update.zips but got allways the same error : ” check.partition.size=[__PROP_UNDEFINED__] ”
I was desperate…I was at the point of resend it to Acer for repair. But last try was successful, I did it, I did !!! And there is how !
1. go to acer web page --->support--->drivers and manuels
2. choose your model acer a1-810
3. As my divece was bought in usa, my FW upgrade is AV052.RV26RC06.PA.CUS1 (in O.S ), download it !
4.when it’s done, you should unzip and should get update.zip separately.
5. Put update.zip on SD card
6.Put SD card in your device.
For next steps see the manuel of update

I did as you guide ...
The upgrade is success and i press power button for reboot. After that my tablet is dead. tried following all of Acer's recomendations (vilumeup button + power button, popping battery out, hold power button in and then insert charger, stick a paperclip in reset button hole, etc). nothing works.

My tablet image version Acer-av052-a1_810-rv03rc08-ww.gen1 Please put the Flash file to it in this post thank

Hey did you by any chance find a fix for your problem? Cuz I'm having the exact same problem and I can't find any solutions anywhere.

[Recovery & Root] Unofficial CWM for Acer Iconia Smart and root method

Hi a friend of mine took the time to adapt CWM recovery for the newly released Acer Iconia Smart. I'm sharing that with you as well as an easy tutorial to root your device.
I hope it will help some people.
It's not a one-click method but it remains quite easy if you carefully follow the steps. Just be careful and nothing wrong should happen (the operation is not risk free though).
What you need :
One Acer Iconia Smart
The drivers : http://www.multiupload.com/UT61X9OI2T
Files for the custom recovery and superuser : http://www.multiupload.com/JU2TTWP5YO)
I- Install the driver
Unless you have already done it.
II- Install a custom recovert menu
Plug your Iconia Smart to your PC.
Unpack the zip file containing the recovery and superuser.
Exexcute install_recovery.cmd and just follow the steps.
III- Prepare to root
Once your phone has rebooted copy the su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip file to your sdcard.
Switch off your phone
Switch it back on while pressing [vol+], [focus] and power. Keep pressing the buttons until you're in the recovery (yellow text on black screen)
(You get "focus" by half pressing the camera button.
IV- ROOT !
To navigate in the recovery menu use vol keys to go up and down, camera to validate and < to go back.
click on "install zip from sdcard"
then on "choose zip form sdcard"
select the file "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" that you just copied on your SDcard
validate and let it run.
Once done go back to the home screen using [<] and click on "reboot system now".
Your phone will reboot and you should have root. Just check if you see a superuser icon in the applications and try to use an app that require root.
In accordance with the above method finally acer smart s300 to root it!
Use is also very normal, very Thank!
Works perfectly, thanks!
Edit: Un oh.. Spoke too soon.. When I plug in USB to charge, the device is going into romdump mode...
@FloatingFatMan : have you finally found out the problem ? Tell us how it goes. Does anyone has the same issue ?
Kind of. I think it was something to do with the USB cable as I tried another and it stopped dropping to romdump mode.
Still not 100% convinced though, as I was getting a lot of other weird stuff. Main one was that the stock launcher was constantly force closing. Ended up installing ADW Launcher EX and now the device is rock solid again.
The only other thing I didn't try was wiping to factory settings, though I did wipe the caches.
Will this work for the A500?
No it won't they have nothing in common (apart for belonging to the Iconia series) !
You will find everything you need for the A500 there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136
Cool, thanks, works perfect!! Time to start a forum for the Acer Iconia Smart?
---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 PM ----------
By the way, on the thread on Modaco they also mentioned "*#*#4225#*#*" to enable Full Screen for all apps (not only the ones programmed to use the full screen - possibly causing issues with apps that do not expect a big screen). Does anyone know where this code came from and whether there's more of these?
I don't know where it came from but the code doesn't work.
There is another method though... I've written a tutorial but I have to translate it in english.
Here it is : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18202546#post18202546
For me it works fine... I tested it using Firefox... (2/3 of screen before the code, full screen after the code)...
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
And yes... Had seen the Launcher Pro steps too but didn't need them possibly a difference in version of the ROM I guess
Now that we have root and CWM, what we need next is custom ROMs! Anyone having a go at Cyanogen?
CM would be great !
It would also be nice to have a dedicated sub-forum : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14155442
I'm afraid that will require more users and at least one of two ROMs... I wouldn't know how to cook ROMs for Android (done several in WinMo 6.5)...
Request the new forum here please:

Touch screen does not work in CWM (which it never does) or in the actual system?! Did you also try flashing "OS_Acer_1.000.24.EMEA.GEN1_A23G_S300" again?

[Q] Goclever R75 (7500) - boot freeze (bootloop ? )

Hello. After factory reset my goclever does not stand up. It freezes at android logo and nothing happens later (no reset, just android logo). I think it might be because after installing apex pro i deleted stock launcher. Device manager sees it as ' Full AOSP on Rk29sdk ' (but cannot copy anything to device) and ADB sees no device.
Is there any way to do something ? Christmas are soon, so i will not send it to service cenrte.

Goclever hasn't published any R75 firmware yet. Also this tablet doesn't have any physical buttons except power switch. On my native language forum was sometime ago rumor that on downside motherboard is switch which combination with power button gives recovery menu. Personally i tried various combinations but didn't worked for me.
Any ideas ?

Hello.
Which version of the device do you have?
7500
or R75
Those seems to be the same but are different.
I have stock android version for both
for 7500 - original, unrooted ( from a Russian site - don't remember)
for R75 - original, rooted ( a dump created by me from my device when I have received it)
Both works, were tested by me on my R75.
The firmware of 7500 flashed on R75 works, but you won't be able to use the capacitive buttons (as I told you are different).
The flash option is very simple:
1. Copy two files on the root of the sd card
2. Insert the card in the card slot of the device.
3. The flashing process will continue automatically.
Just tell me which one you need and a place where to upload the needed firmware. I can do the upload this weekend.
Regarding ADB, hmm... this is strange. I have done the same thing as you (deleted the launcher and restore to default) but adb was working with device in the android logo state.
I'm using Windows 8 and I have installed the device as test ADB device (from windows drivers).
Bye.
Edit:
This is the link for R75 rooted firmware.

I hope it helps you.
Bye.
Edit:
This is the link for GoClever tab 7500

Bye.
On the back he have written that he's tab 7500. Soon i will try to flash him with your 7500 image. Hope it will work ^^ Thank you very much.
Everything on first look is working on. Except wifi card, which doesn't turning on.
/update
R75 software fixed it. Don't trust manufacturer anymore.

hello
this may help some one later
to get into recovery if your R75 table wont boot you have to take it apart the button is on the underside of the board behind the screen (silly place to put it) i have being talking to goclever support and more firmwares are going to be added to the site. if you want yours adding send them an email requesting it (one may not be enough ) i have just had this problem and after a month they agreed to take it back and have reflashed it for me
hope this helps someone

[Q] Haipai i9389 (MTK6589) Recovery?

Hi guys, I bought the above phone off Amazon. I found out this very strange device also had a root-enabled kernel out of the box, but my question is about recovery. I want to install CWM as a first choice, if not that, TWRP, but a Google search only tuns up loose references to MTK6589 which is presumably the SoC, but nothing for my specific model. Currently when I reboot to recovery with any root app it shows 'no command' (maybe there is no recovery installed to the recovery partition?) and when entering bootloader mode the device displays what is seen in the attached photo.
I would appreciate any help on getting a working recovery set up on this device.
Thanks!

Hi, I also have one of these phones and have been looking at recovery options with little success.
However I have found a set of instructions in the XDA University about porting CWM. (unfortunalty I can't post a link due to being a Noob, but if you Google 'porting cwm' it should be the top result).
I am going to be attempting to do this once I have got my PC set up dual boot for Linux.
Will post back with news on how it's going. Would appreciate any progress you have made about a recovery option.
Regards
Mad.
first, make a backup of your device using mtk droid tools.
if phone isn`t rooted yet, use this tutorial:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
for the recovery, you need to unpack your recovery.img, take the kernel zImage and put it in the cwm-recovery. for mt6589 phones, this one should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357875
you can unpack/repack your boot.img with this tools:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
after obtaining new recovery.img, flash it through SP flash tool or mobileuncle tools.
Recovery Quirk
Chrizzly, thanks for the pointers, will be checking out the tools tonight.
Found a quirk though, may just be my phone.
I booted into recovery last night and as expected the "no commands" came up, but then I took the back off the phone and a recovery menu appeared. Had options in there like reboot, delete cache, delete delvik cache....
I'm assuming this is the stock recovery.
I tested it again this morning and booting into recovery and then taking the back off the phone made the menu appear!!
Any one else care to test and see if it's a stock thing or just a quirk of my phone.
replied before, my post disappeared.. this isn`t related to your device , this is recovery-typical. it is showing the android first, without a menu. you need to press hardware buttons, to get into the menu( this is device-specific, you need to try that, also buttons on the touch screen, if there are some) this will usually bring you in recovery MENU. think you accidently pressed one of these buttons while opening the device.

Re: Files. Thanks for the files, going to try them out as soon as I can!!
Done
I have got CWM working on my i9389 now, there was a few quirks in getting it going.
The method I used was as posted in the MTK Droid Root & Tools thread by rua1.
TIPS
Leave the battery out when doing read back or flash in Flash Tools.
Not mentioned in the instruction is the MTK vcom drivers which you will need and can be found in the Root tutorial posted by Chrizzly a bit further up.
Make sure you read the instructions by rua1 closely and use the images posted as it's not always straight forward.
Last tip pay attention to where MTK tools puts the files it creates, had me stumped for a bit!! I've never been very good at following instructions!!

I managed to boot loop mine while messing with a ROM I made (it's not finished yet) but managed to recover by re-flashing using the Flash Tools a back up I had taken just after installing CWM.
Do you have a back up you can flash?
I have just checked mine and even zipped it's still 800MB so I can't email it to you...
...sure if I looked about I could find somewhere to upload it to for you. PM me if you need this!!

[Q] Acer Iconia tab A1-811 Bootloop

Download latest Acer firmware update, copy it on a micro sd card, plug it into your Iconia, go to recovery by holding Volume up and Power button while device is turned off. Then choose apply update from sd card.
A2: If you cannot apply any Acer firmware, because you always get a partition error while installing, you should do a reboot after you get the error. A user reported that this made her/his device boot into Android again, showing the new version in settings -> info. Good luck
A3: If the A1 and A2 didn't help. Send back the device to Acer. Tell them you tried to apply an update from sd card and ended up in this bootloop. Sending device back to Acer over UPS is free. Good luck!

Have you unlocked you tablet? If you have, why not use a custom recovery (TWRP for example is a powerful yet simple to use recovery)? If you haven't, then it was a bad idea trying to root your tablet.

(Solved)Lenovo A5500-H unsuccessful update, stuck on Android System Recovery

Hello,
I hope it is the right place to ask for help .... The automatic system update failed and now the tablet is stuck at Android System Recovery Screen. Wipe Data / factory reset does not bring the system back, so I guess I need to upload rom / update from sd card - I got option "apply update from sd card".
So, please, help me to recover from this situation as my tablet is stuck .... I do not have or could not find the right files to use with "apply update from sd card."
Or, any links to the tutorial for updating / uploading rom for this model will help ...
Thank You very much in advance.
Kindest Regards
Lukasz
I solved the problem by uploading the rom again.
1) SPF Tool + MTEK drivers for win
2) Official ROM
Just two things:
a) if SPF throws error you need to choose upgrade firmare not download
b) you need to take off the back cover and unattach the battery otherwise it will not work
Have a nice day
Lukasz

Hi everyone. Just did the solution like what Luqpa_W said but my tablet is still bootlooping on lenovo screen. There is no problem during flashing and everything seems fine during flashing. I do not really understand what is the problem with my tablet. If someone knows how to deal with it, please let me know.

EDITED: My tablet just got booted! After several times of reboot, it seems working. Thanks!
