Doesn't install for me via root explorer. Says signature conflict.
EDIT: Uninstalled with Titanium backup, rebooted and installed ok.
Software Version Screen
About Tablet screen it still shows Android Version 4.0.3
Install was smooth and took me to the Play Store on completion.
Did it update???

So I tried using the one click method to unlock my boot loader and root my phone and I'm having no luck. Help! Plz
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Hi... You should really be more specific , what version of android are you using? As of the new update not all versions can be unlocked anymore ...
Make sure you close sync manager down all the way "EXIT" OUT ... As when I did my cell this had to be done to work

then you're stuck.
The Root method is only good on firmware version 1.85 android 4.03
Is there anyway I can go back to android 4.0.2?

Negative.
Like I said, you're stuck. At least until a root exploit is found or HTC allows us to unlock the boot loader without hackery.
Well ain't that a *****. Lol

I have a problem with roms that are based of of AOSP, like CyanogenMod or Avatar rom. Any rom that has a Sense base works fine.
I have:
-Hboot 2.14
-TWRP 2.4.2
-currently running Info Rom
Please keep instructions as simple as possible please
Thanks
Sigh this has been covered many many times

In a thread in the development forums the other day somebody mentioned that android 4.4 kitkat requires a 3.8 kernel to run,
Well I have flashed it to my nexus 7 and can confirm that it runs on a 3.1 kernel, just like jelly bean
Hopefully this means easier/faster porting!
Very sad we're stuck with this old kernel...

You don't need 3.8 kernel. Nexus 5 has 3.4 kernel.

Problem is, 3.4 kernel is not available for the aosp ROMs right now
Laidbacknikez has the best chance at porting it, but seems like he's a little inactive atm.

Did you guys not see what I posted in the OP?
After flashing it to my nexus 7 (2012) I can confirm it runs on a 3.1 kernel, the same as jelly bean did on it.
Pretty sure this means kitkat should run on our 3.0 aosp kernel.

It will, but it'll never be perfect. I mean the HTC Desire runs jb 4.3 on a 2.6 kernel and kitkat will most likely work on that too.

We should wait and see if some wise developers team could prepare Kit Kat for our devices on 3.4 kernel. Meanwhile I keep my fingers crossed for Team Venom and their ViperS 5 with nice Sense 5

It's the same situation as with the M8, the M7 has completely different chipsets and screen resolution making it virtually impossible.

Kinda doesn't matter on chipsets. You just need a kernel that boots 4.3 - 4.4.2 ... For example I port roms from the m7 to the DNA , DLXPUL, and butterfly. Because they all have a kernel that works. And all those devices have different chipsets..... And no resolution doesn't matter either, yes some apps will need to be resized which you can do by editing the dimensions.xml in each app..but sense 5 and up supports hdpi-xxhdpi on most of its applications

If evo source has dropped for 4.3 then all a kernel dev needs to do is see what's the difference 4.3 and 4.2.2 .. I'd look at defconfig between them... Cause 4.3 is still jellybean. I seen you have a kernel dev here.. ask @Zarboz how to do it. He's the genius on porting kernels

Well I'm working on it and it's going okay I suppose. Me and an amazing kernel dev are making progress. Lots of logcats.
Of course, older versions of softwares are always less buggy because of the amount of time taken to refine them.

Nothing is impossible.
the kernel is very important to port a rom .like sensation run 4.1.2 sense5 or droid dna run 4.4.2 sense6
Well I don't know its possible....only time will tell but for now I can just appreciate efforts of the guy above....this device is so special just because of dev like this

Based on what? Of course its possible. The real question is how feasible it is based on how much work needs to be done, versus the desire by the right folks to do that work.
