Loud vibration normal? - Sony Smartwatch

Hey guys!
I recieved my SM2 today and I was a bit shocked how loud the vibration is.
Is it normal that it's clearly audible or do I have a faulty unit?

This is normal, mine does the same. You're sure you won't miss a message

Alright... not what I expected. So I have to turn off vibration once I'm in a meeting. Inconveniant.

Mine was very loud too but I realised it was the metal strap making the noise. I replaced it with a 24mm NATO strap and it's barely audible now.

Same here :good:

When I just received SW2 and place it on over the table, i was shocked by its vibration "zi----"
I Also notice that it is come from between the metal strap and SW2, so i paste some tape over there to lower vibration sound.

Interesting! I really like the metal strap though.

Do you have a picture of where you placed the tape?

Passed two layers of tape.
But tape always fall out there, and vibration became loud as usual.

Interesting watch face. Is that a custom one downloaded, and is that displaying seconds on the lower right?
re: noise. I don't find it too noisy. I do also like the look of the metal band but I may also look at either a nato or leather band, since the metal band does occasionally grab at arm hairs.

Higher left is hour, the biggest one is min, and the lower right is day.
This is based on my read watch habit. For me, the most important is min so this is bigger than other number.
Using app Remote Widget and UCCW, also supported newest Low Power Mode on SW2.

I just tried Remote Widget with Zooper Widget on my SW2 and it simply doesn't update at all on the watch. How did you manage to make it work?

In UCCW settings, check the last one "Force widget update". and in the Remote Widget, Turn device on select "CPU Only", 0 sec.
But it still stays in sync for 30~55 min and then stops. Hope we can find a way to solving this. Or connect to developer, let he add a Watchface mode.
Or maybe it's UCCW's problem, i haven't try too many times for this.

Same problem right here, but I think it's normal

Android RING

i took a look into the future and this is what ive seen
maybe i should make a crowdfunding project but i just throw it out here xD
patents are not pending as i dont have money
the next big thing after watches have to be rings!!!!
nothing is more comfortable, easy to use, more lightweight etc
maybe we should make bets or something..
if holografic image projector come first then we dont need a touchscreen on the ring xD
well ok, holografic image projector in ring size could take a while....
however, smartwatches are 2013 .. we need rings google
/edit:
curiously i googled and found that one big problem might be solved soon: the energy source
The human battery: turning body heat into electric power

You have some very interesting ideas. I would agree that a ring would be cool, but I'm not sure they would be all that practical considering current technology.
Maybe a built in micro projector would work well. But it's likely the best use for a ring would be to flash for notifications, or act as an NFC device for payments. Or as a fitness device for monitoring your heartrate.
Looks like this is going to be my next wedding ring!
This will be great for small notifications and time but this looks more like a geeky gimmick add-on. Still awesome idea though.
Great idea...but no

A ring with some quick NFC action may be worth a look but I suppose any of the Android-powered watches could do the same thing. Still worth investigating.
Actually there are some smart rings in development. Not really android rings, but bluetooth ones.

Wouldn't it be more realistic for the ring to be based on physical (button) touch - rather than holograph or touchscreen?
Could call it the iCheat, have a tiny speaker in it so when you take tests it spits out the answers to you while scratching your head.
Perhaps a stanhope lens concept could work, have a super small high dpi screen inside a stanhope lens, then you could place the long lense shaft on the top of the ring going parallel with it, it would be easy to look at the lens then, just like a microscopic telescope to one eye.
The ring could be hollow and contain the circuitry and battery, use the new graphene battery tech from Samsung. Then add similar tech to the Google glass for audio, having bone-conduction. It would need a little practice by the user to find the best spot to put their finger around their ear, but should work well. Plus microphone and your done.
It probably would work very well.
Nice idea i'll buy it if became reality

My DIY bike mount

I was finally able to work on building a bicycle mount for my Tab S (8.4) and I though I'd share it with the community. It isn't entirely finished but it is in working order. The tablet and speaker are held on by Velcro with a rating of 10 pounds. A metal strap placed around the handlebar stem and screwed into the back of the wood. I plan on adding sides and a top to provide some shade for the tablet while riding during the day. It'll get too hot in direct sun light. Once the sides are up, I'll be able to attach my phone there with Velcro as well. I will probably attach a flashlight and/or my green laser pointer to the top.
I'm also up for suggestions if any of you have some ideas for adding even more functionality!

Definitely no video watching! LOL I use it just for music for now. If I take my bike with me when I move to Dallas, then I'll use it for Google Maps too.

Unless I'm missing something; what you said makes no sense? If the main purpose of the tablet while riding a bike is only to listen to music, why would I want to carry around a PC?
I just use an ipod or somtimes my phone with a Bluetooth headset to listen to music while riding my bike. I just put the device in my pocket. A 8" tablet seems like overkill. Also for safety reasons I keep the volume low enough to hear traffic.

Well; as I stated in the OP, I was thinking about bringing my bike with to Dallas. If I had, then I would have been using it for navigation as well. My phone is POS and the bluetooth and GPS rarely ever work. Even if I could use my phone for navigation, it would be a pain in the ass to have to pull out of my pocket every time I needed to look at it and I wasn't about to spend money on a mount when I could build one for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention the battery drain on the phone if I were using navigation AND bluetooth at the same time.
I ended up not bringing my bike though so the whole project, if you want to call it that, has been scrapped. Now I just use the tablet's leather case and set it in the dash area just behind the steering wheel (Don't worry! I can still see all my needles) and connect it to the bluetooth speaker. Strictly for navigation when in the car. I'm hoping to get a new phone soon so I can stop using my tablet in these odd ways.

I guess it makes sense when using it for navigation. I have a bracket on my Harley for my Galaxy S7 phone. I use the Waze app for navigation on occasion but I mostly use it to stream music to my bike's stereo system.

Gear S3 screen problem

Hello experts;
I've got a gear S3, it was working fine since the day,I notice the screen is off, but the watch was connected to the phone via Bluetooth and I can gear sounds off notifications in the watch.
The touch screen was responding as well as the bezel. I turned the watch on and off several times until the screen come back, but it start first from pixel to white screen.
It was looking like an old TV with some pixels like noise. And finally stabilize to normal.
I've found some threads like that but none have solutions or details why this is happening. Only due to watchmaster, application that I don't have
Does anyone got solution or idea about that problem?
FYI I have the latest Tizen 2.3.2.1 APK6

Static on screen is caused by watchmaster, even if you don't have watchmaster app itself, some of the popular watch faces in store (Detector by Liongate or Timeless by Pluto etc.) actually comes with their own watchmaster embedded. Try with a stock watchface.

Call Samsung and speak with them. "Usually" they can tell if it is still under warranty and will fix it. It doesn't matter where you bought it. ymmv
It doesn't hurt to try.
Have you done a factory reset?
If the screen is unresponsive, this is done by holding done the Home button until it says "Rebooting" then tapping the button continuously until the boot up menu appears, then tapping it down to the "Reset" option.
any idea whats causing this using it since 3 months i had a normal stock watch face but i recently turned brightness to 10 and turned on always on display for about 4 hours before this happened rebooting and even factory resetting doesn't solve it has been 2 days

I wonder how well car cradles & the Edge Sense are going to play together

A lot of us use car cradles that clamp onto the phone. Although I use a very minimalist clamp buy Kenu, some car clamps can run almost the full side length of a phone.
I'll be curious to see if these set off the Edge Sense when you clamp your phone in and if it's going to be a problem for people. I haven't seen a single person bring this up in a review or online, but it's one of the first things I thought of.
Fortunately the clamp I use is very minimalist and I can set it to clamp higher on the phones edge, so maybe above the squeezable area, but I know some have fuller sized clamps.
Yes I know you can set the sensitivity of the squeeze to initiate the desired function.
I never thought of this. I guess I will see once I get my phone
Simply you'll have to disable edgesense directly with in the quicksettings. An item is here to enable/disable it when you want as you do with wifi for example. But I have to admit that if you don't disable it, edgesense engage the action you set and you often have the photo app launched :/

Yes there is one toggle :

The clamp force of a smartphone holder is not big. So u think there will be no issues here.
notice the included case is cut out almost the entire edge length. Partially for buttons of course, but partially for edge sense space.

the Kenu one I use is extremely strong, but either way... putting it in and out of a clamp might set the edge sense off. Hopefully there will be Tasker integration and then maybe you can set up a profile so that if you're attached to the Bluetooth in your car that shuts off the edge sense functionality.
Just get a magnet-based mount system. Problem solved. They work great. I wouldn't ever go back now that I've switched.
Bright idea: Use your car dock to set up a shortcut to start your phone's car app! (Win/win)
I've been using slipgrip mounts forever, though they are device specific so I change it every time I upgrade phones. Grabs by the lower corners and one tab mid-point.

cool idea
If your using side grip mounts in your car with the HTC U11. Grab a few of the NFC programmables and use some triggers(macros) to disable the Edge Sense before mounting, and another to enable it when you take your phone out of the side grips (maybe on a keychain). I'm finding the Edge Sense useful for now. It's a gimmick now, but maybe other options will pop up. You can launch MacroDroid with the short squeeze and do a lot more with Edge Sense.
Just pull down notification bar and toggle off edge sense while it's in an edge grip cradle. Lol

I use a car mount like this. Doesn't falsely trigger edge sense when I put the phone in. My edge sense setting is about slightly below medium setting.
I have Kenu plus.... will have to see....
If you are looking for a great looking cradle this is a very nice one.
Solid.. Nice design and no edge sense "problems"
Rock autobot cradle.
OK, got my phone yesterday and had tried out Kenu Plus this morning on the way to work. The mount grip triggered the Edge sense, but it displays a message saying "release to launch or keep pressing to cancel". So, it detects the pressure but will not trigger any actions. I am just worried how that constant pressure will affect the lifetime of the physical edge sensors...
I am interested in this one, seems like it doesn't apply any pressure to the edge sensor...
https://www.aliexpress.com/item-img...48866.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000017.2.xuebZ4
I have a car mount which squeezes the sides.
when i pop it in, the graphics come up to indicate that it senses a squeeze, but after a few seconds, it realises that its constant pressure, and not a squeeze per-se, and times out. No impact on use.

same here, see my previous post, just worry about long term effect on the sensors.
Actually now that I have put the Spigen clear case on, it kind of reduces the pressure and the phone doesn't sense the squeeze at all.

Lightring Outer Display

Hello Community,
I have a question.
Has anyone noticed the LED Ring around the small outer Display on the Z-Flip?
It only appears briefly when the Device is plugged into Power.
I asked Samsung today how to activate it for Notifications.
They answered with a "thank you for the Idea..." message.
Can one of you experts write a mod to possibly use it as a notification LED? Similar to the Galaxy S10 and S10+ Camera Notch LED?
Thanks in advance for the Feedback.

stupid really to not have the possibility to configure the outer display for notifications, I don't want to see the battery % or date and a smaller clock would be enough and then notification icons, in my case I want the outer display being turned off all the time and when a notification arrives it lights up, like how you can configure @Jawomo AOD app.

Note you can see notification on the out display on the Flip
1) Enable edge screen -> edge lighting -> while screen is off and enable for apps that you want to alert
2) for the apps they need to alert as "pop-ups" otherwise it will not show on outer display

for that cool lighting effect to along with the notification info - I am not aware of any way to do this (via public APIs/hacks).

The best thing is to have an application that shows the always active led type notifications, on the external screen.
We hope they can create it.
