yes, recovery just automates the process.
If you do it manually you also have the option of backing up the original files if you want to go back.
Just extract the files from the .zip, paste them into the correct folder, change permissions and reboot.

Please keep this original loud version alive and keep improving it ...
I dont mind louder sound because you can always decrease at any instance when it becomes distorted but the lower sound cannot be increased than maximum volume ...
Is there a way to increase the headphone sound on android devices. I'm using a SGS II running on wizzedkat 2.6 rom using philz kernel?

Personally, if I can I use Viper too but also Volume Plus or Vodoo Louder APKs which have done the job very well so far...
Here http://goo.gl/M1vpUC and also there http://goo.gl/Gm1Sru and with pimp my rom, you can increase the volume during a phone call if you go to tweaks at the bottom of the menu, telephony and set the AMR Wideband on ... Enjoy...
This is Simply a Custom speaker profile for Viper4android (So it requires Viper4android to be installed) it includes a custom tweaked Firequalizer Setting and other settings Ive been using it for a Couple months I'm So happy with I decided to share it Give it a Try.
(Only Tested on Sense 4.4.4 roms Vipers, Insertcoin)
Instructions(This is not a flashable zip)
Simple extract the files to the internal memory "/sdcard/ViPER4Android/Profile/"
Drop the "Improved speakers" folder into The viper4android profile folder.
Then Open Viper4Android and Load the profile.
Note: If the profile dictionary is not there simply opening VIPER and saving a New profile should create it.
That's it! Enjoy Your excellent New speakers

Thanks I have always looked for an easy solution to fix speaker issues with cm12 based Roms. I guess these presets could do the trick?

i think this should be in theme and apps section, buddy!
anyway thanks for sharing
What have you been using this on sense, gpe or aosp?
When I open viper4android and try load profiles , it sees no profiles ....I've extracted folder to profile folder and also tried just extracting to viper folder ...seems the profile files are .xml and the profile files should be .prf files
Viper doesnt install on cm12
@Lostmymind904
OP, could you add the link to Viper4android for the people who don't already have it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3021407
Also if you could add instructions for creating the Directory for the first time cause when you first install V4A
"/sdcard/VIPER4Android/Profile/"
will not be in your file managers.
Upon installing and setting up V4A we need to simply save the stock profile and then the Profile directory will be made

Due to what I believe has been deemed an issue with the One M8 amplifier drivers since CM11, all audio on CM11/CM12 based roms are VERY loud which leads to tons of distortion. As a guy who really appreciates music and sound quality, I haven't been able to stick with a CM rom for longer than a day without being annoyed by it. There are some settings that are out here that are supposed to get rid of the issue when using V4A for lollipop. I tried it one and still wasn't satisfied... However, with all these new CM12 based roms coming out, I kind of want to give it another try. Maybe some of the presets in this thread could help, but i have not tried and nobody here seems to know either :good:
hope that helps.

Installation should be as simple as Extracting the file then Grabbing and moving the entire "Improved Speakers" folder into Vipers4android's "profile" folder. And Yes The files or .xml files That's what viper4android saved them as So that is what I uploaded them as why would they be .prf???

If you can get Viper4android to work on lollipop(i believe this is possible) then yes it should work as it is Simply a saved preset. I personally do not run lollipop for reasons specific to me.

Hello All,
I need some help. I have tried CM12, Resurrection remix, liquidsmooth and other CM12 based lollipop roms. I have found headset and speaker volume is low compared to touchwiz roms. I did some r&d and found out in CM12 roms volume has been tweeked to make it bit low. Am not sure whether that would help in performace, but it doesnt matter. I need help in tweeking the volumes back to normal as in touchwiz roms. I use DN4 as of now in N7100 Note 2. I love lollipop roms but low volume makes me switch back to touchwiz roms. please help. thanks in advance. :crying:

Use the app Viper4Android and modify the settings in it as you wish to get more loudness.
Set the Max Gain to 8x in it. Before that, Select UI setting as 'Expert' on options

For using Viper4Android with Lollipop based roms, you'll need a "permissive" kernel OR you need to change your SE Linux mode to "permissive" using SELinux Mode Changer.
So I just installed the latest version of Havoc OS and I immediately noticed low volume and when I tried to use Viper4Android the Drivers installed but it won't process. Now I'm liking this ROM but music is my life and this low volume isn't doing it for me any tips ?
BTW SELinux is permissive
So...uhm...why did you post that here and not in the thread for the rom?
