Anker battery queries help ! - HTC Sensation

Hi Guyz,
I have bought a new Anker battery via Amazon. But the problem is it gets to 99% very quickly from then on, it takes hours and hours to get to 100%. And the discharge is also a problem - from 100 to 70 its very slow. Then to 40 percent its very fast etc. I have wiped battery stats, calibrated the battery, changed many roms but still the issue persists. Am i doing something wrong ?

It's pretty normal their batteries perform like this. You can switch to a different brand if you wish. I've tried RavPower and Mophie and I don't see these problems on them. It's always good to try something new.

So far i got two Anker 1900 batteries for HTC Sensation and both had same issue as you described. But that's really not an issue because you just need to charge your phone until it's 100% fulll and it doesn't matter if gets quickly to 99% and then needs some time for 100%. Also it's fine to leave your phone charging every night so you always start your day with fully battery. Other than that insignificant issue, Anker batteries for HTC Sensation are one of best choices, especially if you are looking for value for price.

2250mAh battery - not performing good!

I purchased a new 2250mAh extended battery recently from megacapacity.com.
In a full charge it gives me 18-20 hours backup with 1 hr talk time only. I don't even use Wi-Fi, GPRS. Just simple calls.
Is it normal? i dont think. Original battery 1050mAh gave better performance when it was in good condition. What could be the issue?
I have tried almost every ROM but its almost same in every case.
Anybody having 2250mAh battery? pl share your thoughts.
Is there some problem with device not charging optimally or battery is bad?
2250
I have a 2250 battery purchased from megacapacity itself. The first charge lasted for 50 hours. The battery at the time of recharge was around 20% but I recharged again. I am sure it would have gone for another 10 hours at least.
This is with moderate calls, browsing, solitaire, always on Microsoft Push mail and lot of email reading and writing. I was basically testing the battery backup; so kind of stressed my phone a bit to see the actual backup time available.
On a related note, I was definitely not happy with megacapacity as they didn't send me the correct battery cover for vox and never responded to any of my emails. So now my phone is without battery cover. And I am planning to buy one more normal sized battery because of this. Thanks to megacapacity.
Sankar
PS: - I am using fireburned 6.1 stable rom 1.4.
I am pretty happy with Polar CEll 1300 mAh battery. It gets me through the day with heavy use! It dies when I am IMing over Wifi for a couple of hours in the evening.
Is it device charging issue?
My device was also working good with original battery. I used it for approx 18 months. After that (couple of months back) it started giving problem shutting down device suddenly while in the call. Its calibration was totally disturbed, i happend due to high temperatures some time when in car, i think so.
In nutshell that battery was of no use to be thrown out. Then,
I bought 2250 mAh but its not giving expected performance, its lasts for max one day with normal use.
Could it be due to issues with device charging circuit? It gets charged fully in one hour. i suspect there might be some issue with device circuit.
or finally battery is not good?
Pl advise.

parthabhatta & h4waii,
You both have good experince with VOX battery, pl share your thoughts on this.
Hi,
Actually I use a battery bought from megacapacity but its 1100mAh. The battery is not giving me any problems and after a few calls, roughly one hour surfing and some music playing 20-30% battery is still left. So what I feel is being 2250mAh it should last atleast 80% more than 1100 mAh if not double. You can check the Power management battery bar while charging - whether it shoots up occassionally at random or gradually increases with increments of 1% till it attains 100%. If it shoots up, try with USB charging and see if the problem recurs. Give it a try and let us know.
Just be careful of using BIG battery.

Thats a good idea, sure i will check and let you know.
I charged my 2250mAH in an external charger, which removes any possibility of the device shutting off charge after it reaches a certain voltage. It allows the battery to make that choice. I had good use with it, very heavy usage and it would last drastically longer than the OEM 1100mAH unit. I'd recommend just buying a 1300mAH as the 2250 is very cumbersome to carry around on the device.
Again, I still have mine - if anybody wants to buy them.
There are a few issues with keeping the sheet in contact with the pins, else it will shut off randomly, I padded it with paper and pulled the pins out a bit.
i got mine a year ago from ebaystore dmc-batteries.
first i also got the wrong backcover, but they sent me very fast the correct one.
The battery is definitely not twice as strong as the original one.
At normal use I think the max is 1,5 day. Light use gives me 2 days but heavy use with bluetooth or wifi or gprs only 1 day.
as h4waii I had in the beginning some problems with the contacts and sudden loss of power because of that, but that disappeared with time
Still I can't make a point...I'cant determine were is good to buy (obviously referring xda user's opinion to how much the battery lasts) and where is better not to buy. LoL

dmc-batteries gave me good service and are quick and friendy in their replies. I recommend them.
Thank you birdibird , but my intention was a survey to know what brand (seller) of ezxtended battery lasts more than an other. Just that
Because I've read of battery lasting 4-5 days with normal usage and others not lasting more than 1!

[Q] Battery Issues

Hi everyone,
I've had my Sensation for about 14 months now and for the past month I've been having battery issues. Primarily, it's very quick to lose charge and will lose charge even while charging from the wall. First I bought a replacement battery but was still having the same issues. I've started using Better Battery Stats and Battery Monitor Widget but I don't have anything out of the ordinary running. In fact, not a lot is running at all. BMW has allowed me to see how the charging is going though which has been nice. During this period I have used Elegancia, Bruce's CM10, and am currently on ParanoidAndroid. All experienced the same issues.
Last night, for example, I put the phone on the charger at 16 percent. It charged up to 22 and then started the downward slide to death and I ended up waking up 35 minutes late.
Where do I go from here so I don't have to constantly be paranoid about my battery levels?
Sounds like you might need another battery. In better battery starts did you notice any unusual wake locks? This could drain a battery. But since it looses charge even when charging I'd think it was the battery. I personally was experiencing some battery issues myself finally I broke down and got a mugen 3800mah battery from mugen. It was expensive but really worth it for Me.with really heavy and constant use I get 20 hours out of my battery, with normal use I get two days. I'm also running paranoid Android rom. For me the big battery solved my issues. Only one draw back, it does make your phone thicker. New back included with battery. This didn't bother me much because of the excellent battery life I receive. Now I finally don't. Worry about battery. However it's expensive at about 95 dollars. But I was so fed up with poor battery life it was worth it for me. You have to be careful when buying inexpensive batteries because there are a lot of fakes going around. And the mah is not really what it says it is on the packages. You can test the battery and make sure it is what it's advertised to be. If you don't want to go with that large of a battery you can also try anker extended battery. It's a lot less expensive and is a good battery. I personally needed more juice so I went with the big battery. I know you said you replaced the battery but sometimes the bargain batteries go bad quickly. It makes me suspicious of the battery because it's even dropping while charging. This is strange. If you ruled out any apps or wake locks that might be draining the battery I would buy a good reliable battery. The draining while charging is a red flag. I'd say the battery is going bad. I don't at all regret my purchase of the big battery. It for me, solved my issues. I do Hope this helps and I wish you the best. Hopefully you will get your issue resolved soon.

its either an issue with the battery or the battery reporting.
Only thing you can really try is to charge it up to 100%, wipe battery stats in recovery, then let it empty totally and charge it up again, see how its behaving. There is a chance that its the reporting that is off.
otherwise this looks like the battery is on its way out im afraid

Argh. I hope it's not the replacement battery too. I got a replacement HTC battery. The problem I'm having getting anything useful from Better Battery Stats is that rarely am I off the charger. In the settings it says I can log while charging but it may mess up the stats so I've shied away from doing that. I'm not against getting a bigger, better battery but I would hate to do that and have it actually be something else hardware-wise where I would need to get rid of my phone.

I'll give this a try if I can get it back up to 100%. Is the reporting in Recovery always correct? The battery never has issues charging while it's in Recovery mode. If that's the case then I'll charge it to 100% in recovery and then wipe and start fresh.
Thanks
I don't think it's the battery. This phones have errors in battery readings. I feel your pain man. Mine is from T-Mobile (Sensation 4G) and it discharges if I use it even at lowest brightness when it's charging too.
If I reboot, I get the battery boost. I have tried EVERYTHING I read here and nothing worked. I even have 4 batteries. All of them in good condition.
I even tried three times discharging it fully and without turning it on, charge it in the night and when I wake up 7-8 hours later, it's still charging. I tried wiping stats, changing ROMs, changing the usb cable and the charger. Everything... I believe it's a hardware issue. (Thank HTC for that) I'm not buying another HTC when I have to upgrade.

Interesting...so if you were to charge the phone in recoery how long do you think it would take to get to 100%?
I would definitely do what you said, charge in recovery then wipe battery stats and go from there.
If you're interested in having something to compare to, it takes my phone about 3 hours to charge to 100% (by the way I'm using an Anker extended capacity battery), with a peak current usually around 800 - 900 mA. Fully charged I have somewhere around 4100 mV. If you haven't already, I'd suggest adding a Battery Monitor widget with mA, mV, and % available being displayed and it will be pretty easy to get an idea what's going on.

I'm leaning towards hardware issue too. That's why I figured I'd post and see if there was anything else that I can try. It's also why I don't really want to buy an expensive battery since who knows what it'll fit next. I know what you mean about the reboot battery boost. You can almost gamble and bet on percentages when you reboot. I've seen 50% swings before.

In recovery I would guess that it wont take very long to charge to full. I have battery monitor widget installed and while plugged into the wall with my 1.0A charger, it will typically pull 100-200mA but sometimes it'll spike to 700-900mA. No rhyme or reason. When idling and functioning properly, without a charger plugged in it drops 9-100mA. Sometimes though while charging it'll sit at negative 100-200mA.
HA! Just rebooted my phone and it went from 68% to 100%. So I rebooted into recovery, it also said full so I wiped stats.

I normally get 2 to 3 mA drain with the phone sleeping. When charging you may not necessarily get close to the 1 A current delivery of the charger straight away, typically it will ramp up over time and reach peak charge current as it gets closer to 100%. Once at 100% it wants to just "trickle" charge to maintain 100% charge until the charger is disconnected, so any wakelocks etc. that cause a current drain during that "trickle" charging will actually decrease battery charge until the charger ramps up to compensate for the drain. Random spikes in charging current would suggest a hardware problem where the electronics are struggling to properly govern the charging process, as would a large negative current drain with the charger plugged in. Silly question but what's the actual plug connection to your phone like? Nice and solid, pins all OK?

Bought a new battery, anything specific I should do when replacing?

I just bought one of those Anker 2200 mAh batteries since mine has been starting to go. I'm wondering if there is anything I should do before I put it in so the phone can calibrate to a new battery. Something like wiping battery stats, letting it charge to full then discharge completely, or anything else. What do you suggest?
I am on a recent PAC-man CM based rom.
Thanks!

You'll get all sorts of advise when it comes to a new battery. Some people have some really elaborate routines but I really don't think that is necessary. I think you already have a good idea what to do.
Others say that there is no need to wipe data and cache or wipe battery stats. As long as you charge the new battery on the first time it was charge for about 8 - 10 hours even it its 100% already.
I got 2 of those with an anker charger on amazon. I switch between them and my OE Sammy battery (mostly on vacations) with no issues. I just pop them in and go. Sometimes they aren't even 100% since if I know they are going to sit around out of the phone for long its best if they aren't 100% charged.

[Q] battery issue. geting wrong values

both my sensation xe have the same problem.
I'm geting wrong battery levels and its driving me mad. tried six difrent batterys two original and fore anker. same problem on them all so ota not the batterys. tryed several chargers and difrent roms same problem on them all.
I can charge the phone over night and it displays a random value. if I reboot I get the right one. somtimes it show 100% when its more like 10%
its mostly anoying when the phone suddenly shuts down cuz it thinks its out of power.
sometimes it drops to 0% then 2seconds later it display 100%
anyone got any idea on a fix?
charging the phone never increase the value displayed . it seems to work if I charge the phone while switched off. this is alsow a disaster for my batterys health cuz the keap geting over charged

I would suggest to use battery calibration tool. For kind of problem you are referring to, it seems more like ROM or worn out battery.
Leave a phone to charge and read it's battery charge rather than value. It's usually around 4196. When you see this value, just calibrate it using calibration tool from google play. Do not charge the phone again until it's dead. Charge your phone again till 4196mV and hopefully the battery will show stable value.
Bad and worn out batteries will usually show random displays

It seems to me that either your phone is consuming a lot of battery or you have some problem with your charging IC. You should get it checked. Also, how about trying a different ROM. Does that help. Why not try CM9.1 or latest version of CM. I am using CM9 and it is very stable and fast.
I hope that also helps with your problem.

Seems like a serious problem to me on your hardware part really. If it supposed died that quickly which I am assuming, you will need to get your phone checked from a care centre. There must be some volts FLYING all over your motherboard.
I would suggest you buy a new phone and sell it off to a mechanic. (Better will be to ask how much to repair, sell it off ebay etc and then buy a new phone )

Battery replacement

Hi guys, have you guys ever bought a replacement battery for your p30 pro ? mine is finished. It drains very quickly. I'm thinking of buying one and install it, Has anyone has one to recommend? like where to buy ? link?
there is many out there, but i want the original one. I dont trust those on ebay.
thanks
Nope, mine still holds on really well.
Be sure that there is no app draining your device. Or that your charging habits are okay.
For better battery health:
Try to only use the Huawei charger, and no cheap chargers.
Battery performance degrade faster after full charge and drain, so don't let the battery die too often, it is recommended to charge your phone often. Partially discharge is healthier than (almost) full discharge, they advice to not go below 20%.

Standby time is okay. SOT are about 60h after a full charge.
as soon i use the screen, regardless the apps, it starts to drain very quickly. Per. google dua (video call) 25% gone after like 35mins of using. Or if i play games, it kills even faster. Although, I set to the screen brightness to lowest enough so i can see.
I have p30 pro over year, and I am heavy user but battery is still fine, as advised before check for apk issue, must be something there what drain your battery, way to early to replace battery, and battery will be still covered under 2 year warranty, but there will be apk issue, record all apks, and start removing one by one, this way you will found faulty apk in your phone, good luck.
Never used Quick charge, never use phone while charging... Before this afternoon I rebooted the phone at 33%, when turns on again it shows 14%.. And in this last week I notice often that battery quickly discharge under 20-25% (just like 5m of sot 22% to 5% and phone goes to sleep) I'm so disappointed by this phone, after 13 months of use...
me too, i'm looking into one...if you guys ever got one to suggest
