So I'm running CWM 6.0.4.5 and was playing with 4.4 Roms but every time I try to flash a 4.3 or 4.2 I get am error (I think it was status 7) I thought CWM could flash any Android version. Or does CWM have the same issue TWRP has?

Is that the custom CWM or the regular one? I can't imagine why the regular one won't, but I don't really keep up with CWM.

Yea, I found it last night messing with my recovery. I haven't been able to succsesfully downgrade. I tried the old CWM and TWRP 2.5.0.0 but haven't been able to mount any storage again... but I reflashed that recovery and can mount things. I'm just going to stick with the CM 11 nightlys they seam stable enough.

CWM is the most common recovery, cause its the oldest and most known. But, you can also tell its the oldest, as the UI is... Ugly, compared to TWRP. The "slide to confirm" function on TWRP is really nice IMO.
But yeah, when they say "CWM", they just mean a custom recovery.
Also, TWRP is officially supported on our devices, which is why its recommended above CWM.
Sent from my GT-N700 using Tapatalk 2
It's not 100% bug free but it is much more stable than cwm.
^That, and the TWRP tries to fix the bugs as they are presented.

Good to note too that CWM nandroids are not restorable in TWRP. So all previous backups from CWM are useless once you change.

I started out using CWM but switched because I use CleanRom and Scott suggested using TWRP. I just loaded it by downloading GooManager from google play and then following the install instructions. Worked fine for me...

You can just install TWRP right on top of CWM using a flashable TWRP zip, Goo Manager, or through fastboot.

Another point, the version of cwn for the HOX is an unofficial port and thus not supported. There is an official version of twrp for the HOX, which is reason enough to switch.

I was having the same error 7 when trying to install 10.1. In my case, I went back to the TWRP download site, and saw that I had simply went to the end of the download list for tf300 and downloaded the last entry for JB. But that actually was the TF300TG not TF300T (which I have). After downloading and installing TWRP for TF300T, 10.1 installed perfectly.
Again, this was my case, operator error. :fingers-crossed:

Put them anywhere on the sdcard. TWRP lets you select the ZIP file, when selecting "install".
You can even select multiple files into a queue and then flash them in one go.
Be sure to wipe everything from TWRP, including cache, data (factory reset) and system.
Note that this will not wipe the contents of your sdcard (at least the version for BL 4.1 won't).

Yes, currently CROMi is one of the two ROMs supporting BL 4.2.
Just make sure to pick the right version (4.3b6 seems OK).

Just something to take note of is you said that you installed twrp 2.4.4.0, I hope you meant the patched 2.4.4.0 - 4.2 version which is the only compatible twrp version for the 4.2.1 bootloader.
All other version of twrp for the tf300 will ask for password and will not be able to mount partitions which in about 90% of cases will cause the device to brick - fastboot will no longer be able to flash anything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179874

Yes that's the guide you want, follow that and you should be fine.
As to the roms you can flash on the 4.2.1 bootloader, you have only the following choices at the moment:
- CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.2 by sbdags, or you can go with the 4.3 beta , up to 4.3b6 at the moment (I'm using b6 now)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204166
- Energy by NRGZ28, stock or themed versions

So I installed the lateat CM12 nightly, wasn't really impressed yet and went to go restore my backup and once it's done restoring, it get stuck at the bootscreen animation. Just keeps going and going abs going. I used the latest cwm touch recovery as CM12 is not compatible with MultiROM. I would just flash the factory img back but my computer decided to it doesn't ever want to recognize adb avid fastboot on Linux.
Anyone know where I can find a flashable zip for the factory 5.0.1 ROM? Any help would be appreciated!

You're on a custom Rom. The ota isn't going to work. And you don't need to relock your bootloader. If you can afford to wipe your data download the 5.0.1 factory image. Extract it and use the flash-all.bat

Well, unfortunately, there isn't a 5.0.1 flashable rom available right now. If you can't get fastboot to work on your Linux machine you're kind of sol as you need to be 100% stock to get the ota to work. That means stock recovery in your case. Google recovery zip collection xda. There's a custom recovery flashable stock recovery there.

Did some more digging, got it install, and flashed the factory img for 5.0.1 and twrp recovery then superSU through twrp.
Mods please lock the thread thanks.
Get wugfreshes Toolbox. It has access to all factory images. Some people are not fans of "one click solutions" but this has never let me down.
There's a flushable zip on here also. Put it in a search in the app and you should come across it. It IS the full version.
Did you ever find out why the CWM restore led to getting stuck on boot animation??
Just ran into this last night. Tried restoring 2 different CWM backups and both got stuck on boot animation.
I eventually got a new ROM flashed. Going to try TWRP recovery I suppose.
I know I never had this problem with 4.4, this was the first time I have restored a LP ROM..

My guess would be; cwm hasn't been optimized for Lollipop. Cyanogen has just recently started working on 5.0 and they probably haven't touched the recovery too much. But that's just my guess.
