[Q] how to recover data for SD card with EXT 3 Partition? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I am using HTC-salsa which is S-off and uses external ROM i.e. SD- Card. 2 days back my SD card stopped working on the Phone. I connected the same SD card to my Laptop and it shows both the partition EXT 3 and FAT 32. I recovered all FAT data but not able to recover EXT 3 data. As all contacts and massages are in that part its important to recover. Please suggest me how to recover all the contacts and other data form EXT 3 participation or is there any other way to fix this so that same SD card can start working?

So, you have used software for data recovery, R-studio?

try finding a program named tiramisu...

try this
Try AIO TOOLKIT XXXX. xxxx is your phone model

[Q] Data on the SD card erased, after the encryption !!!

Dear Tech Support Team,
After the installation of the new version of Android (4.0.3) everything worked fine. On the Storage Device Information I found that the system does not use the SD card for write purposes but only for read. The system demands the SD card to be encrypted. When I tried to encrypt the SD card, the android asked for a "pin" and after that the SD card got encrypted. But all the data of the SD card disappeared. On the system info I see 7.40GB free space on SD card from 7.40GB maximum!!!
Please can you help me to recover my data or to unencrypt the SD card??? Do you know what went wrong with the encryption? The user guide describes that the SD card data must exist after the encryption.
I Have the HTC Sensation Z710e, HTC Sense 3.6, Software number 3.32.401.5, kernel 3.0.16-gda3fdfc, baseband version 11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M)
Thank you for your help ))
Try reboot and factory reset. I used this feature once (maybe a month ago) but the process did not produce this error.
Sorry but I don't understand. If I reboot the phone and then a "factory reset" then I will loose all my phone data not only the data in the sd card.
Is this correct ???
As far as I know the encrypted function a the tools to make only the devices can read the data. Before the encrytion process does you mean "
the system does not use the SD card for write purposes but only for read"

are you can store any file on the card. If so either the card has special function or your MicroSD card has been broken or need to be reformatted. Try reformat the card with pc an see if it work again.

Unable to use SD card?!

Hi all,
I recently, erased all data on my SD card (using the "Erase SD card" option in settings > storage). Once this had completed the total space went back up to 7.4GB but available space went to 0.00B! I've rebooted the phone, unmounted and re-mounted the SD card and still available space is set to 0!
What could I possibly be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Use a card reader and connect the SD Card to your computer, if it doesn't show up, use a partition tool to partition the SD Card, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Thanks for the help. What an absolute ball ache though! Why is the "erase" option included if it's going to cause these issues? Would have been better off deleting each folder manually.
RESOLVED
I actually managed to resolve this by erasing from settings a couple more times :S

sd card partition problem

Hello everyone.I made the sd card partition but now I do not have any songs or anything inside SD .They have all deleted or what? Please, tell me what to do so i can restore them.Thank you
When sd partition is made, the sd card is formatted during patitioning. & there is no way to recover files afterwards.
Yes, you can restore them provided that you haven't used the sdcard much.
Use Recuva for windows or TestDisk for linux.

if windows ain't detecting anything, that means you've created the first partition as ext 2/3/4 (which is wrong partitioning), the first partition should be FAT32 and primary, and the second small partition should be ext 2/3/4 and primary (and i guess you're using it for swap or link2sd etc), and after partitioning, if your windows is detecting properly your first FAT32 partition then you can restore deleted file using Recuva or tune up utilities (and loads of other softwares), recovery is possible after formatting, with a bit of luck...:good: (ie those deleted files shoundt be over-written with some other files you copied to your card)
First don't reuse SD card to save files and try with Remo Recover.

[Q] NEXUS S - Formatted on Windows -> Lost partition

Hey Guys,
My Phone is a Nexus S with CM-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-crespo. + CWM Recovery.
Today i have tried to partition my internal sd card, (the nexus s have only the internal sd Card), because i wanted to install the Link2SD app which need a ext4 partition to link the programfiles.
What i Did:
1. Connet the Phone via USB to Computer
2. Mount sd Card
3. Run Minitool Partition Wizard on Windows
4. Delete the Partition on the SD Card
5. Create a Partition, 13GB, Primary, FAT32 for media files
6. Create a Partition 1 GB, Primary ext4, for the programfiles.
7. Restarted the Phone
The Phone is still working, but i dont see the SD Card anymore on my Andorid device. I have also tried to Mount the sd card in the CWM. I tried to do a factory reset and checked the box "format sd card)
Did not work
Can you please help me? How could i restore the lost party of my internal sd card?
Thanks,
Magor

You have put your self in a major mess. You should have partitioned the SD card using CWM. Now you can try to partition SD card using CWM just forget the 1Gb partion that you lost.

Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?

Hi folks,
I have an SD card here that I was using for Adopted Storage but I've managed to get it stuck as an "adopted" card and can't seem to get it back functioning as a normal SD card
Long story short... I wiped the device the card was in but I didn't "unadopt" the SD card before hand - as in set it back to portable mode. While the device could recognise there was an SD card afterwards, it couldn't prepare it for use and suggested a card error or something to that effect.
I figured I'd just pop it in my laptop (Windows 10 x64) and re-format it but this didn't work. Failing this, I decided I'd "nuke" it using Minitools Partition Wizard. While this program had better luck identifying the card, could display and delete the partitions on it and could run the Wipe task - it had no effect on the card... the partitions just re-appear after any attempt to nuke them!
Has anyone any ideas about how I can restore this card back to a normal FAT formated SD card?
Just to clarify - I don't care for the data that might be on it... I just want the card back usable
Thanks
Recovering an "Adopted" SD Card?
The best solution for now would be to plug the sd card into a phone with android 6.0 so that the phone can read the card and then while setting it up,you can format the card as "normal "(the part where it asks you whether to use the card as in adaptive storage or for accessing files).

When I try this, I get "Unsupported SanDisk SD card"
I'm then asked to select either Portable or Internal and then Erase & Format but neither work. They fail at 20% and the message "Unsupported SanDisk SD card" is shown again
I'm a bit stumped. I thought surely the encryption used on adopted cards was only to stop external reads. It seems in this case it's stopping me from writing to or formating the card
Running out of options
