Sixaxis Controller Ironic problem... - Android General

Hello, When I have my PS3 controller plugged into my phone, when I try to pair it with sixaxis I get "No controller found - please connect it via USB cable" I even click the pair button with my Ps3 controller and still get the same message.

Why don't you pair it using the windows tool as you are supposed to?

I did, but then I get "listening for controllers..." my guess is that my chipset may not be supported, (New MTK 6592)
I get "Pairing request" when I try connect it dircetly with bluetooth, however it wants me to enter a PIN code, 4 digits, I've tried 0000 and 1234. When I enter the PIN nothing happens, controller continues blinking.

How can we help you with this little info? Seriously!!
Either write down ALL the steps you've done or just don't bother asking for help here!

No need to be rude, I've written down everything I've tried now.
First of all, I'm trying to get my ps3 controller working on my phone, the phone is a Jiake V8 with a MTK6592 chipset with bluetooth and android 4.2.2.
The controller works as intended with the USB cable in. And shows up in USB Host Controller as a ps3 controller.
The first thing I was I paired my ps3 controller with the Sixaxis Pair Tool for windows, I've tried the same with MotionJoy.
Next I ran Sixaxis Controller on my android and started searching for controllers, I got to the part were it says "Listening for controllers"
The ps3 controller just flashes without any results.
Next thing I did was trying to pair the controller via Sixaxis controller on Android, I connected the controller in the OTG port, runs as intended, I can browse the menus and play games with it while it's in USB. So in Sixaxis controller I hit "Pair" with the controller in the usb port, and it tells me "No controller found - please connect it via USB cable".
Third thing I did was trying to connect it directly to bluetooth, I then again paired the controller just in case, started Bluetooth on the phone and started the controller, the phone finds it, and it ask me for a PIN code, I do not have any codes but they usally are 0000 or 1234 so I tried both of them, when I enter the PIN code nothing happens, the controller continues blinking.

I'm not trying to be rude honestly. It's just so frustrating when people assume we are mind-readers by supplying virtually no info.
I'd scan through this page and see if you've missed something.
Maybe you got a typo in the MAC address?

From what I've read in This topic I think that the MTK 6592 chip isn't supported as for now.
I'm pretty sure I got the right MAC adress, I've tried resetting bluetooth settings without luck.

I'm not convinced it has anything to do with the chipset at all. Maybe your kernel doesn't have the sixaxis drivers?

hmm... Could be the kernel. Problem is that I got close to no knowledge about kernels, is it easy to flash one that got support for it? : /
The phone is fairly new so there's really no roms/kernels as I know.
Oh, forgot to say my phone is rooted.

Ah bummer! Was hoping you weren't rooted! Can you try a mate's XBox360 controller or Wiimote? At least that would let you know if it's a driver issue.
Good luck

Now I've tried the app called Wiimote Controller. I click "Init and connect" and then the search button on my Wii mote, wait 5 seconds and then it shows a error message for less than a second and closes the app. ( crashing )
The error message I get is:
Initializing...
Searching...
Found 1 wiimote(s)
Connecting.
An error occour Last error: Adress family not supported by protocol
When I try to connect it directly via bluetooth it wants me to enter a PIN code which shouldn't be required.
On their FAQ site it says that with the protocol error the device might not be supported.
: (
I do not have access to an Xbox Controller.
EDIT: http://android.ccpcreations.com/wc-compatibility Says 4.2.2 don't support wiimote controller D:

dont worry man i have the same problem too. my chipset is mt8692 also.. rooted lenovo a536. and im sure bluetooth address is correct. because everytime i try to connect the controller directly to phone bluetooth the phone detects it and requesting to input pin to controller. but sixaxis wont connect to controller. and also i tried to connect it in my galaxy duos and it paired running good. so i think the problem is our phones are not supported. i think.

[HOWTO] Milestone USB-Host mode & using USB devices

Motorola Milestone - USB OTG - USBHost Mode
Found on Chris Paget's blog and since there isn't anything related, I'm postin' it here for xda-devs (with some clarifications and corrections in his words).
You’ll need to make two things, a micro-dongle to enable the USBHost mode (that you'll plugin during boot time) and a cable with the right connectors on each end (for connecting your peripheral).
To do this you’ll need three cables:
- A car charging cable (off-the-shelf at the Verizon store)
- A Micro-USB cable (as above)
- A USB extender cable (the tiny ones that sometimes come free with USB keys work great)
Start with the car charging cable. Break open the micro-usb connector (it comes apart fairly easily) and look at the little PCB inside – there should be a single tiny surface-mount resistor and two wires from the charger cable. Unsolder both wires and the resistor, and then bridge the pads where the resistor used to be so that it’s completely shorted.
The end result should look something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(Micro Dongle)
Next up, you need to make your connector cable. Cut the end off the USB extender cable, you want to keep the socket end and discard the plug. Cut the micro-usb cable as well, but on this one you want to keep the plug and discard the socket. You should now have a micro-usb plug that’ll fit into your droid and a usb socket that you could plug a memory stick into. Strip the wires off the ends of both cables and join them to each other, connecting like colours (and the shield) together. When it’s finished it should look something like this:
For using USB-Host mode and your USB peripherals you have to do the following:
- Turn your Milestone off
- Plug the micro-dongle into the USB port
- Turn the Milestone on
- Unplug the micro-dongle as soon as the Motorola logo disappears (when the Android bootscreen is appearing).
Once your Milestone is booted, pull up a terminal and look at dmesg – after plugging in your USB peripheral using the cable you made earlier you should see the usual kernel notifications about new USB devices being connected; they’ll also turn on (or start charging) if they’re powered by USB.
You’ll only be able to plug in one peripheral before the port reverts to peripheral mode and you’ll have to reboot with the micro-dongle if you want to go back into host mode.
Also, if you leave the micro-dongle plugged in too long it triggers another bug, the port gets stuck supplying power to devices but not actually recognising them. Hopefully the drivers are sufficiently open-source that these are easy bugs to squash, and that dynamically switching between host mode and peripheral mode won’t be too hard to add either.
USB external storage won't work, but USB Keyboards are working. Anyway, we can compile a module for making the Linux kernel to recognize all we want since we can insmod as root.

Hi,
Some schematics or blueprint that you can upload here?. Look great!!!
EDIT: Got it!: http://sites.google.com/a/gowthamj.com/www/
i do host cable with blueprint from post #6 and... Something work
I'dont have any classic usb keybord (only wireless), but i try with usb storage.
After reboot and pressing button red led on pendrive blink a few times, after i release button (after M logo) they turned black.
It means that cable is ok, in dmesg i saw notification of connecting USB Device. But without drivers in kernel we can put this in our... boxes with accesories... kernel is locked, host usb is IMO only a funny feature of Motorola Milestone
Cant we use the modules they use to connect usb memory sticks to their N1s?
Would this work?

No, because the N1 uses a different kernel and modules as to the Motorola Milestone.
Is there a chance for external USB sound card to work?
bump!
I'm not a linux guy so anyway - do the drivers for usb host HAVE to be compiled in kernel? As on milestone the kernel can't be modified this implies the usb host on milestone works just with - usb keyboards?
Is there any way to use other usb devices? I'm asking because if not it seems it isn't worth to make the "micro usb host + switch" cable...
there is no way untill we can put or own kernel signed by owrselves on the milestone

We all know that.
And if being smarta*s is the only thing you can do here I think noone is interested in your posts Bye.
Please ppl don't become offensive...Just ignore some posts and let's continue to be productive about the topic
we can try to load modules for the kernel. no need for custom kernel. just compile the module sources against the milestone kernel and present libs (for ex. the now famous kernel 2.6.32.9-ge635aa4
so it is possible, but requires better knowledge of linux stuff like compiling etc - that I as a windows user don't know... however - for a person who knows how to do that - is it possible without much effort to do that? or do you need to code your own driver or what
edit> what do we need to do that? let's say I will come to my friend to do the compiling for me - what does he need to do that? how will I then use those drivers? is it same as in linux so will some guide for linux apply to android?

Hello , i recently bought an elm327 adapter but i cant pair it to my phone (lg p970 running ICS).
I tried every code i could think , like 1234,1111,0000,5555,6789,5678 etc , but still nothing.
The phone can find the adapter (with name : OBDII),but says the pin is wrong.
Is there a special trick to pair them?:crying:

You might want to take a look at the cd you got with the adaptar.
all the codes you just said are the ones I would use as well, for me it was 1234.
Try it close to the adapter if it still doesn't work you might want to try it on another phone.
You're running ICS so this could be the problem!
The code usually comes in the email that they send when they inform you that your item is shipped. Might look there.
My code was 6789. Don't know of it would be the same, but worth a try.

maybe with CM10 is better...maybe.
i ask here but no response
Thanks for your reply , but i have tried every password i could think and still nothing..
What i am trying now, is to capture bluetooth packets sent from bluetooth adaptor so that i can hack the pin.
But i cant find the way how to see bluetooth packets (via wireshark) using linux (ubuntu).

Make sure you turn the ignition to ''on'' (2 clicks) otherwise it won't connect, if it's not working it could be ICS, no idea if it's working with V28B or V30.
Will probably give it a go soon if I have the time.

[TUTORIAL] [Android 5.0] How to pair a PS3 Controller with your phone

Hy all! After a few days of searching with no luck and trying to connect a PS3 Controller to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) I finally managed to get them to work together!
My phone is ROOTED but I'm 100% sure it will work for NON ROOTED phones!
This technique works on my Note 3 but not sure about other makes or models!
So ... what do you need.
1. Your phone with Android 5.0; with the new 5.0 update the Sixaxis Controller app is obsolete and doesn't work anymore, but the sistem is able to detect the controller on it's own.
2. PS3 Controller fully charged;
3. PS3 Controller charging cable;
4. Bluetooth mouse; it might be posible to work with other bluetooth devices like bluetooth keyboard.
5. PC to connect the controller. No program needs to be installed on the PC, but it is recommended to have the DS3 and TapJoy drivers installed.
Now ... how do we pair the phone with the controller.
1. Turn phone bluetooth ON;
2. Make sure the bluetooth mouse/keyboard is not paired with your phone.
2.1 If you have a paired mouse/keyboard connect it to your phone;
2.2 When connected go to Settings >Bluetooth >Paired Devices and unpair the mouse/keyboard and press the connect button on the mouse to erase the phone from it's memory;
3. Turn the phone's bluetooth OFF and restart your phone;
4. Press the PS3 Controller reset button;
4.1 After the phone restarts turn bluetooth ON and try pairing the controller using the 0000 pin. No luck, don't worry!
5. Pair the mouse/keyboard with your phone;
5.1 After the connection is successful turn OFF the mouse/keyboard, NOT THE PHONE BLUETOOTH.
6. Press the PlayStation button on the controller;
6.1 Now the controller LED's will blink for about 3-4 seconds;
7. Connect the controller to your PC using the charging cable;
8. After about 2 minutes remove the charging cable from your controller;
8.1.1 Now the LED's blink and the phone asks you for a pin to pair with the controller;
8.1.2 Imput 0000 pin and press OK;
8.1.3 You will get PLAYSTATION(3) Controller - Connected to impit device.
8.2.1 If the LED's still blink for 3-4 seconds connect the controller bac to the PC;
8.2.2 Keep pressed the PlayStation button on your controller and remove the charging cable;
8.2.3 Now the phone will ask you for a pin to pair with the controller, imput pin 0000 and press OK;
8.2.4 You will get PLAYSTATION(3) Controller - Connected to impit device.
9. After the controller successfully connects with the phone use it to navigate through the menu for at least 30 seconds before disconnecting it.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
DO NOT TURN OFF BLUETOOTH OR YOUR PHONE!
In Android 5.0 (mabe a bug or mabe just my phone) if you turn off the bluetooth or restart your phone the mouse and controller that are paired will disappear!
In order to disconnect the controller without losing the pairing go to Settings >Bluetooth and pres on the mane of the controller and a popup message will warn you that the connection will be terminated!
For the moment we have to use this way of pairing the PS3 Controller wit the phone every time bluetooth is turned off or phone restarts.
Please post the make and model of your phone here if this tutorial helped you.
Or just play your ps3....or, get an xperia z3.
Or just install sixaxis app
Or that ^^^^

Sixaxis Controller app does not work in Android 5.0, as I said in the beginning of the post!
I've been trying to duplicate what you did here on my note 3, I get to step 8.1.1 and when I disconnect from pc, the controller only blinks for 4-5 seconds and phone does not ask to pair.
I have the ds3 and motion joy drivers installed on the pc as you suggested.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
<EDIT>WOW, I kept trying and trying, and MUCH to my surprise it ACTUALLY CONNECTED AND WORKS! Thank YOU!! It works exactly as if I used the six axis app!</EDIT>
<edit2>Unfortunately I'm having a very difficult time duplicating the success. After I disconnected using the method you said I can't reconnect again...</edit2>
Folow 8.2.1, but before that press the reset button on the controller, and be sure your phones bluetooth is searching for devices!
Latest SixaxisController app works now on android 5.0!
Code:
So ... what do you need.
1. Your phone with Android 5.0; with the new 5.0 update the Sixaxis Controller app is obsolete and doesn't work anymore, but the sistem is able to detect the controller on it's own.

Excuse, but with step 4, must using Bluetooth Keyboard/ Mouse? Anyone try with Bluetooth Speaker Mini?
I am on android 6.0.1 in a note 2 phone and it detects the controller but asks for PIN... i think your method is weird but works, maybe some developer can make a xposed module to do the pin thing instead of that method. Lets hope some developer read this.

6.1 Now the controller LED's will blink for about 3-4 seconds;
7. Connect the controller to your PC using the charging cable;
8. After about 2 minutes remove the charging cable from your controller;
8.1.1 Now the LED's blink and the phone asks you for a pin to pair with the controller;
8.1.2 Imput 0000 pin and press OK;
8.1.3 You will get PLAYSTATION(3) Controller - Connected to impit device.
8.2.1 If the LED's still blink for 3-4 seconds connect the controller bac to the PC;
8.2.2 Keep pressed the PlayStation button on your controller and remove the charging cable;
8.2.3 Now the phone will ask you for a pin to pair with the controller, imput pin 0000 and press OK;

Use a usb otg cable

OPO won't connect to PC in MTP mode.

I don't recall having this problem a few months ago when I tried this the last time so I think it might have been an update that made this happen.
Normally, in the notification bar I get a option to change the connection mode to the pc from "Charge only" to "MTP" or "Camera". However I don't get the notification this time. It will only charge my phone and it doesn't show up in my explorer.
I tried enabling USB debugging but for some reason it is greyed out as seen here:

also when I try to change the connection mode manually through the "storage" menu I get this.
please help me.
1. Navigate to Settings > About Phone > scroll to the bottom > tap Build number seven (7) times. You'll get a short pop-up in the lower area of your display saying that you're now a developer.
2. Go back and now access the Developer options menu, check ‘USB debugging’ and click OK on the prompt.

could you please read the thread more carefully?
As you can see in the OP, I already did this.
Try using a different USB port and/or a different USB cable.

have you try compare the same cable with different phone, if you had another phone, to make sure if its the cable problem or phone problem.
I do have similar problem with OPO original cable and recently a new remax cable, after sometime the usb connect function is stop working. Tried the same cable with my find 5 and its still not functioning. I do still wondering what caused that, because at first both cables usb function works normally.

the problem also occurs when the phone doesn't have a USB cable inserted into it.

Errr, isn't that obvious ? If you don't connect your phone to USB/Data Sync Cable to PC then there's no notification about usb connection whether its charging, debugging or MTP

yes that's right but then the usb cable can't really be the problem.
I have the same problem on a couple of different ROMs. I used to be able to use PDAnet and connect but now that doesn't even work.
I was finally able to update my ROM using an OTG cable and flash drive. A bit awkward but it works.

I use the standard rom that came with my OPO tho, shouldn't it always work?

yes u might be right, i just pointed out that in my case, the cable was the caused. At first i thought maybe because of the rom, so i tested the same cable on different phone and tested different cables on the same phone, that's when i found the problem was the cable.
But i still wondering why i got two cables that at first every function (charging n data sync) works but then after sometimes only charging function works and i can't no longer used data sync function with the same symptoms as you.

Got me... I have two OPOs, one always connects and the other one doesn't. I tried both OPO cables, two aftermarket cables with the same result. There must be a difference between the two but I have no clue what it is.

exactly, that's my problem. It used to work but no longer...
someone please help.
I do wondering is it because the cable can charge up to 2.1 mA, but still not sure about it.
Developer options ->scroll down there is an option for usb (must be something like usb format option, Greek for me )change it to mtp but it resets after u unplug the phone

Can't connect via USB to Windows

This is the first Android phone I've had that will not properly connect to Windows. No matter what I've tried, I never get the "Use USB for file transfer" popup when plugging it in. I have USB debugging enabled in Developer Options.
I'm wondering if for some reason this phone CAN'T connect to Windows, although that seems unlikely. I did learn that this German variant I have (XT1955-2) cannot connect to 5G wifi.
No matter what I've tried, including trying various Motorola and non-Motorola windows USB drivers, the only thing that happens when I connect via USB is it's visible in windows an as Unrecognized Device.
Do you have an sd card? Is it portable or adopted storage?
Do you get the USB icon in notification bar?
Is it set for MTP is you tap that icon?
No SD card.
No notification in the notification bar.
I can't set to MTP because there's no setting available. When USB is plugged in, the phone is being charged, but there's no other indication it's connected to a computer.

Weird. I'll try to double check and get screen shots, but the one here gives the normal USB icon in the notification bar to choose Charge, MTP, or PTP.
You could also try developer's mode and change the default mode (I think it's still there)

I think so, but then forgot to post/take pics.
It got really hectic for a few weeks.
I had to return it (the one it was to replace started working) so I can so it again.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I'm in the same boat. I have the Moto G7 Power (-2 Mexico edition) and I can't TurboCharge or connect to a computer anymore. Same cables/PC work with another G7 Power but not mine, so I know it's something to do with my phone. I did a full reset, no change. I tried going to USB Developer Options, enabled USB Debugging, nothing still. I also tried to set the default USB action to "File Transfer" but ended up in a OS bootloop, which prompted me to do a factory reset on the phone.
I think this is hardware-related to the USB port on the phone. As long as I've got bluetooth connectivity I'm fine but I'm definitely not happy with this phone so far.
If anyone comes up with a fix, I'd be happy to try it out.

While you had USB debugging on, did you connect? Try adb? Pull log files to see what was happening?
Are you using USB 2 or 3 ports on the computer? USB 3 has long been troublesome. Even Google devices https://support.google.com/pixelpho...hl=en&gpf=#!topic/phone-by-google/EBTGfybo9cw
I have had the same problem (trying to connect to Dell XPS, via a USB 3 adaptor with HDMI interface). Same symptoms; not able to activate the options in "Use USB for"
Luckily I tried disconnecting the USB 3 adaptor, and connected the phone (via cable) to laptops USB3 port. It immediately worked....
I hope this thread is still active. I'm having the same problem with a Moto G7 Power in the UK. No matter how I try I can't find any way of turning on the usb option for file transfer with a pc. I've even searched in developer mode and its not there nor are there options for mtp or ptp (I'm assuming I need these to connect to a pc) Help! I'm tearing my hair out here.

I have scrolled down in Developer Options. I've also opened every control in Dev Opts to see if it was hidden somewhere but but its just not there. I'm now wondering if the phone has to be connected to the PC with a usb cable for this option to appear.

No, and it's been in Dev options for several years in every phone I have.

Could try an app like

I downloaded the app you suggested and have now received a message on the phone saying 'usb connected'. I was able to open Developer Mode and got much more options than when I opened it from the phone manually by tapping 7 times. I enabled usb debugging. However, the phone is not showing up under File Explorer on my PC. I am using the usb cable that came with the phone and have a feeling that it may be only for charging.

USB debugging is for using adb, not what you need.
What you want is to set the default USB mode in the option mentioned to MTP/file transfer .
(Naming/order may vary, I don't have a Moto G7 handy)

OK I followed your advice and finally found the correct option and setting. Thank you so much. As you must have guessed, I am totally new to the Android system and find it bewildering with all the different settings menus and sub menus. Without your help I never would have been able to do this. Thanks again.
