Does anyone remember cm6 / cm7 render effects color modes?
I'm particularly interested in recreating the red render color mode for reading at night.
I've searched high and low but so far no good results.
Please chime in if you remember the feature I'm talking about.

I sure do. It was cool. Like black ops.
There is Lux, but it's just not the same.
Maybe someone could create an Xposed module.

Someone else created this exact thread a few weeks ago.
Try searching "cm7" or something in q&a

Another suggestion was "twilight" which I've tried but is really not the same.
I think some people have not seen how good the render effect is compared to apps that use a filter.
Anyone know anything about this?
Answering my own question, CF.Lumen is the exact functionality I was looking for.

Any ideas why this might be happening?
I've compared it several new smartphones and the whites are definitely way off. Blue tint kind of thing.
its the only problem to the amoled display.. try using a voodoo kernel, they seem to fix some color issues

I've compared it to a blank Web browser on an iPhone 4 and the brightness and clearness of the whites don't even come close on this Mesmerize but I know the Galaxy S's screen is just as bright as the iPhone 4 screen, so I doubt it's an AMOLED issue. I feel it's a software issue.
I've made sure the brightness is up full so I believe I'm doing all I can in that respect.

Research voodoo color. You will see it's a known issue on some screens. Personally I don't see it.

I don't see a version available for the Mesmerize.

I only knew about the Color thing after you mentioned it and I then said it doesn't appear available for the Mesmerize.
This is ridiculous.

There are roughly 5 different voodoo kernels available for froyo. A good place to start would be the stickied thread about kernels in the dev forum.

I miss night mode/ render Fx that gave my eyes comfort when i read in the dark. Can anyone recommend an app that works with pics? Used to use chain fire but not yet compatible.
Sorry. You should try porting it.

would if I could.
Assuming you're rooted, screenfilter app, right from market.
You don't have to be rooted for screen filter. I am using it without root. I guess it is best app for night reading, playing etc.

Thanks. This isn't exactly what I was looking for but it is the best alternative I've found so far. Although dimming the background light does allow for increased comfort in night reading, it doesn't provide the same amount of comfort as a red filter. I will keep playing with the app BC it may be possible that a red filter is an option that I've overlooked.
What is MDNIE and how do I turn it on?
I have seanzscreams ICS installed and loving it, but was wondering what this is and if there's any advantage in using it.
Will this help?

Hi,
I have the same question and from my research it is some sort of display tweaking same as the Bravia Engine, only using this, you have a lot more options. Although in reality, I can't really find anything changing when i modify the settings...
mDNIe stands for mobile Digital Natural Image engine.
In stock galaxy S2 rom (at least my i9100 international), under Settings ->Display -> Screen mode, it shows a sample image and three preset profiles - Dynamic, Standard, and Movie. These adjust the brightness, sharpness, contrast on different screens/ in apps like camera.
Custom roms can always have custom settings for these display-related parameters of a phone.
I am not android developer, so I cannot tell you how to turn it on, but I think stock rom has mDNIe enabled by default.
How do you access the MDNIE options?
to access mDNIe options in my samsung galaxy s2
go to Settings ->Display -> Screen mode
i727 doesn't get this option I think, haven't ever seen it.

None of the crappy AT&T variants have this.
On the Skyrocket, just find "mDNIe Switcher" and install it. It comes with Seanzscreams Sky Ice rom. Not sure where to get just the .apk
It's available in CyanogenMod 10 and 10.1. I was tinkering with this today.

mDNIe is a display tweaking utility that is only useful if you had an AMOLED (LED) powered screen. Its useless for an LCD screen.

I didn't post wrong info... I just stated a fact. I know sgs 2 has an amoled screen... People asked what it is and i answered. mDNIe rebalances the chemicals in LED lights to change contrast, sharpness, blur effect. UI makes things sharper but might impact quality by missing MSAA (Multi Sampling Anti Aliasing) which now, in latest cm 10.1 you can turn on to avoid "pixelated curves" in letters and such. VT is more rich and contrast.. I think that one is from VoodooColor.
Camera i think makes the color level warmer. Every phone has different mDNIe modes. So just experiment.

That's true but it's still relevant and there hasn't been a good answer provided yet.

Has anyone created a hack and/or ROM with the notification tray brightness widget that was included in one of the firmware updates of the international version of the GS3?
Wasnt sure if this was best posted here or in Q&A, so let me know if I should move it.
Thanks.

Not sure but probably should be in q&a, however, I have been using the 15 mod toggle here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783270 on stock rooted, it has the brightness slider and also the reboot into recovery and download button.

Thanks for the heads up, Ill be sure to look into this.

The Display Brightness app in the Google Play Store will allow you to adjust the brightness by swiping on the notification bar similar to how Samsung had it on previous phones.

Did you ever get around to finishing this port? It run on stock?
Quick note on brightness apps, Q Bright is the best one I've ever used. Full slider, 4 presets, fast and fully customizable, and it's free! Would gladly have paid for it.

On a somewhat related topic, is it possible to make the brightness lower than the default? I've even tried q bright and can't get it any lower than in the system settings.
Hello guys. I have this question. My problem is the saturation of screen colours in my LG G2. I dont like the colours how appear. I got a tablet from asus and there is an app called "Asus Splendid" and you can adjust the saturation of colours and many other. I try an app from google play the "screen adjuster" but its not working good, if i set a custom colours i lose the deep black contrast from the screen...in fact its not working at all. Please help guys

If there is any custom kernels you can use Trickster Mod and change what you need to. I just got my G2 yesterday though so i don't know if any are available. Coming from a Note 3 though I love the screen. I hate amoled!

yeah if you are rooted you can use trickstermod or faux apps to adjust all aspects of your phone ie colur /gamm cpu settings, gpu settings there are others available too
the two kernels that are available are in their relevant g2 sections
Try STweaks from Google play, but it wont work with the stock kernel I guess.
Thanks guys for the fast answears but trikster mode and STweaks is not what im searching for.In these apps you can only Downgrade the saturation,I want to increase it just a lil bit,I already told that there is an app in my asus tablet called ''Asus splendid'' or something like that and you can adjust the colours with a slider, not like blue red green...I m running AOKP 4.3 now.

need a custom kernel for that. try asking the kernel developers if they're willing to look into this, some color fine tuning would definitely be welcome.

no, it's not that simple. a developer would need to implement the color calibration into his/her kernel (assuming LG has left that "window" opened, some manufacturers lock the display controllers and it takes some skills and reverse engineering to make it work) and then you would need a kernel tuning app that supports this feature too. i do agree, it sucks this feature is not available in one way or another out of the box on android considering how many phones out there have abysmal color calibration.
