This app was started to solve a pretty basic problem I was having - wanting to know the time while riding my motorbike into work. The first version simply read out the time with Text-to-Speech after each song in a playlist.
It quickly became apparent that this idea of having things read out in between songs had a lot more potential than just that.
Imagine having your text messages, missed call info, new emails, weather updates automatically read out to you when you're out listening to music while riding/driving/running and not able to safely or easily check your phone. (Think JARVIS from Iron Man or a radio station where the broadcaster only talks about stuff relevant to you.)
That's the premise for this app. Currently it can read out:
New SMS messages (incl. sender's name or number and full message)
Missed call info (incl. caller's name or number)
Local weather conditions, including wind speed, temperatures, tomorrow's forecast
Current time
Device battery level
Another thing - if you're wanting to just hit the road, it's a pain having a set up a playlist or configure your music player. To address this, there is no setup necessary - to use it you can literally just open it and hit the Play button. By default it'll shuffle all the music on your phone and give you notifications from time to time or when new messages come in.
Other features
4x3 home screen widget
Lock screen player controls
Hardware media button support (e.g. headphone, bluetooth controls)
Automatic pause on low battery (to conserve power for your phone when on long rides)
Edit your play queue with gestures - swipe to remove songs, drag to rearrange
It's still early in development, so give it a go and let me know what you think via the "Send Feedback" option in the app or in this forum thread. I'm interested to hear feedback - the more nit-picky the better.
It's completely free (as in beer. No ads either) for the foreseeable future. I want to get more feedback from users before beginning to think about charging for it.
I'm also considering open-sourcing it, or at least making an open interface for 3rd party apps to implement their own types of announcements (like Roman Nurik's DashClock widget). This would really depend on interest from developers though. If you're a developer and think you may be interested in extending the app, please let me know.
WARNING/DISCLAIMER: if you do not already listen to music over headphones while riding, you are NOT encouraged to start doing so with this app. Obviously there may be extra risk involved. You are responsible for your own safety and if you choose to do so it's probably best to keep the volume low.

I started development for this app longer than a year ago, now I'm releasing it. I learned a lot during development. The app is about counting down (or up) to any date. It can count in any unit (from seconds to years) and I really tried to create an elegant UI. I also created a small promotional video (note that the video doesn't show all the qualities of the app).
I already have several features in mind for future releases.

Google Play Description
Time Until: App & Widget
This app is an elegant and stylish way to count down to any date in the future. Set a timer or see how many seconds, minutes, hours, days, working days, weeks, months or years are left until an event that is important to you. Create as many countdowns as you want, and count down to any special date, like Christmas, a trip, a vacation or even the next Halley's Comet appearance. Select any image to set as a discreet blurred background for each countdown, or leave the default phasing colors background. And share the countdowns you create!
You can also set a past event and count the time since (just check "Time Since" in the settings to activate the function). For example, see for how many seconds you have been alive! The app interface is simple and intuitive, and in Kit Kat (4.4) and later, you can enter immersive mode by double tapping and the countdowns will take up the whole screen.
Add the beautiful and dynamic widget to your homescreen to have a subtle reminder of the time until (or since) a date. You can select from two styles: dark and clear. Each suitable for a personal taste or home screen background. You can also customize units for the widget. Widget and main app countdowns are independent for maximum customizability.
The app is completely free and has no restrictions, enjoy!
Expect future updates with new features and suggest any you want.
If you liked the app, please rate.
Permissions:
The read the contents of USB storage permission is to read the images for backgrounds.
The network permissions are to display ads and keep the app free.
As a new user, right now I can't insert links, the link is in the youtube video description, or try searching for Time Until or "Bruno Schalch" in the play store.

For quick conversations like these at work, school, or home, Sonica accelerates teamwork by avoiding typing, ringing, voicemail, conference calls, shouting, or any other "system" you use today.
We designed Sonica for modern collaboration in the real-time group environment. That means being discrete at times, lively in others, and ensuring the conversation ebbs and flows at your own tempo. For this, unlike a regular walkie-talkie, Sonica's innovative "pause and stay quiet" feature lets you mute on app exit but replay everything you missed later. Stay connected and receive live voice when anyone speaks, or remain undisturbed and just listen later. It's up to you.
Sonica is engineered to take the hits day after day and not just be a toy. Enjoy crystal clear voice even under poor network conditions due to adaptive echo cancellation, background noise suppression, and other advanced features working intelligently behind the scenes to keep your communications broadcasting across your team reliably.

@Totolouis, thanks so much for your feedback and for trying to connect with your colleague! I am going to immediately look into why you did not find each other. We rely on a variety of techniques to make this automatic, but I suspect that phone number matching from your country might have a logic problem. I will update you asap once I figure this out.
European numbers
@Totolouis, (and others) I posted an update, version 1.0.5, to Google Play which fixes this issue for our European friends! Please update to v1.0.5 and then go to 'add contacts --> import address book' and should be ok.
APK outside Google Play?
Do you mostly use Google Play for app downloads or do you like there also to be a generic .apk download available? What do other developers do? We will post a generic .apk if you feel it is useful.
Twalk
Keep up on Twitter, hands free
Hello everyone - first time I've posted one of my apps here. I created Twalk because I simply couldn't keep up on all of the people I follow on Twitter (@g0blinResearch). There are a few apps out there that claim to do what Twalk does, but are either paid, do not do the job very well, or requested write access to your Twitter account.
Twalk is, and always will be not only free, but ad free. No "pro" features, no micro transactions to unlock the apps full potential. Twalk will only ever request read access to your Twitter account via OAuth. The resulting access keys are only ever used by the Android app, and are not communicated to anywhere else.
If you have any feedback - no matter how harsh, or critical - PLEASE share it. I know the app could do with improving, both visually and functionally, but so far for me it works as I wanted it to, and as such I wanted to share it with the public.
Thanks!
James H
Twalk is aimed at people who do not have the time to check Twitter constantly through the day for new Tweets, and at people who have trouble reading their Twitter feed, due to visual impairment.
Your home feed will be monitored, and read out as and when Tweets arrive using Androids Text to Speech (TTS) engine.
Network access is required to request authorization via OAuth to your Twitter account, and to check your home timeline every 80 seconds for new activity. Permission to monitor for boot completion is required to allow Twalk to start upon boot of your device.
Twalk was developed to do one thing, and one thing well. Development of Twalk is on-going - feel free to submit suggestions to us for features via reviews, or email.

Why Libre Music?
Basically, I've been fed up with the monopoly on Android music players that have CUE sheet support and I took it upon myself to make a media player that will be free, open source, and will support CUE sheets as well as other things which I have planned for the future. Media players with cue sheet support on the Play Store either cost money or have ads, except for AIMP, but I don't like AIMP for other reasons. In addition none of the media players with CUE sheet support are open source and there's no documentation at all on how to add CUE sheet support to your media player.
Features
Support for all popular music formats (MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc...)
Support for CUE sheets and CUE sheets embedded in audio files.
Modern, simple material design
Light and Dark themes
More to come!

Great music player app.
Why do you need Phone autorisation ?
Hello,
It's all in the title, why do you need the phone's authorization? Only to find out who uses your application for testing? Will you delete this authorization request in stable version?
While waiting for your answer, let's test this application
Sincerely.
Please add function to play from folders. A lot of music are not kept in album folders only.
I like the app, but i don't like the icon. Like a communist symbol.
Arabic mp3 files names typed incorrectly and no folder preview
first : arabic words of names of songs not typed correctly
second : No option to see mp3 files by folders
these two options which matters me and not pr sent in this app
Third : no need to access call and contact permission
If you add folder play option than it will my favourite music player.:good:
Only the button are quite large than normal size
Why app should be access to phone contact and calls? And pls add option to choose color accent
Sent from my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro using XDA Labs
Thank you!
Looked promising, but it ignores cue sheets/files on my installation - but thanks for the effort.
I thought I'd try this, but as soon as I opened it the app demanded access to my phone - not storage, which obviously I'm ok with, but permission to make phone calls? When I denied this permission, the app simply closed.
Given the current furore about an Israeli company's product being used to inject spyware into Whatsapp, there is no way in the world that I'm going to grant this permission, so I've uninstalled the app without even being able to try it. Shame.
Edit: I saw a comment that the app needs phone access to mute music when a call come in. However, Poweramp does not make a phone access permission request.
