I see we have a Galaxy tablet forum so why not a Chrome OS forum?
The only hack I know of is to type in about_flags in the omni box and it will open up some experimental labs.
I'd like to find out how to get it to play music from my network or is there an app for that at the Google store?
You signed up and got one?

I did sign up (a few times lol) and received one on 12-21-2010. I'm loving it =D
I got one and because I am having issues with the Verizon setup along with the 100MB cap I rooted my EVO so I could use wireless tethering. I might get around to messing with the Verizon setup or just hope an update fixes it. But 100MB will be easy to blow through. I guess as a backup it might be worth it.
Other than that it is a nice device. But it is strictly a browser. So any games need to be based out there in the cloud. But I am going to try to push myself to use it more so I can break my dependence on app like Office and Quicken.
There is a jailbreak switch under the battery that supposedly will open it up for whatever you want. But I've seen Win 7 run on an ATOM and it sucks. So I'll keep this thing stock until I see some ROM or whatever they would be called come out of XDA.
i also have a cr-48 and have some questions - like how to mount my android and have the cr-48 recognize it.
TexTab is an app that lets you send and receive SMS from your phone, via your tablet. Your message history still collects on your phone for both sender and receiver, but you can control it with your tablet. This is especially good for those of us with smaller phones (like my Aria), and for those of us who do NOT use their Tablet as a phone... or do not have native SMS allowed in their stock Tab (AT&T for example, and of course wifi-only models). TexTab doesn't have access to your phone's contact list, or it's SMS history, but again, the history is normal in the phone, and you can always Bluetooth over your favorite contacts.
I joined in the developer discussion on this app because to begin with, it had some issues, but the idea is a good one. At one point I actually paid the 2 bux but I am concerned that the problems aren't going away any time soon. Here is the thread where I introduce my issues in detail:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133277&page=31
Has anyone used this yet? Impressions? Issues? He designed this with Honeycomb tablets in mind (specifically the Tab 10.1). The more of us 7-inch owners who give him feedback, the more likelihood he can solve the issues. I really don't think this was ready to move out of beta and into a paid app (which I explained to him earlier in that thread) but IF he can get it less glitchy, it would be worth the 2 dollars for sure. When the app works, it's super convenient to include my phone's SMS onto my Tab along with my other emails and IM apps... our virtual keyboards being far more practical to type on.
It is pretty cool to see and app that does this as I hate having to switch devices to respond to texts... it is a shame it is having these problems like you said I would lore then willing spend $2 on an app that could do this

Have you tried the lite version?
Is the Samsung apps one the light one? Works OK, not as good Bluetooth range as would really be needed to make it an everyday Walkabout though. Got one room over and lost bt Conection and was a pain reconnecting without going and putting the connection up manually so it was a short lived novelty ...

Must be.. as its not device, I've got it from Samsung apps on both phone and tab. Grab market enabler or similar wipe the Samsung apps cache and stored data select Telstra au and see if its there then. My tab is now wifi only and so i had to spoof a sim to get the apk to open and chose Telstra Australia.

I just went into the Play store, and it let me download the new version... I store all of my projects to the Cloud service, so I just synced it and disabled the old copy... if you haven't tried it yet, the changes are very small - although I have to say it feels a bit more responsive, the icons seems a bit refined, and it does sync a bit faster than the previous versions... overall, not a massive/life-changing upgrade, but it's possibly worth it if you use it alot. :cyclops:

Haha I feel like the Mobile one is more confusing compared to the desktop version. Finding everything I'm used to on the tablet has been a learning experience that I'm still going through.
I do find using the stylus (S-Pen) to be useful though. A lot more accurate than I thought it'd be

That's right, I forgot that since the PS Touch came with the Note 10.1 that it is getting it's updates from the Samsung app store, not google. Thanks for reminding me. Looking at the Samsung App Store, they are still offering the version I currently have. I assume at some point they will get the newest version in their queue.

You can find it here (Samsung App Store) http://content.samsung.com Login, click Samsung apps at the top and then type Photoshop in the search box, it will show up as a free app but the version is 1.4.2, last updated Dec 19, 2012.
I purchased SketchBook Pro for Galaxy Note from Samsung App Store, it has a different start screen and it does not show up in Google Play as a purchase but some apps that you install from the Samsung App Store re-direct you to Google play and install from there but I think they are free apps.

You shall not. It's a piracy.
However, it's not a good way to treat customers... if they'll receive no updates for more apps (btw NFS Most Wanted for my N7100 not updated since many months), no one will be using samsung store, and i don't think it's what samsung wants as they are updating their store ("hubs") in an intensive manner, recently.
Sketchbook apps for note devices are in exclusive versions with spen support, that's a different story, they are great, and there is no other official source.
But atm it is a risk to buy a non-exclusive app from samsung if it is also reachable via google, as you can be left with no further updates.
Anybody tried contacting with samsung support? They are going to update PST? Or no such a plans?

There are many people complaining about it not being updated to 1.5 and samsung apps is bad at updating anything or even taking care of their store, I got the avengers game from there as they were giving it away free but when downloaded the game doesn't even start and they haven't updated that and couldn't even be bothered to check the user comments all complaining about this issue.
I went to the photoshop touch forum on adobe's website and saw that there were people complaining about not getting updates and the repliers who I think work on the app didn't know how to solve the problem and that was a post complaining about not getting an update for 1.2....or was it 1.3, anyways they still haven't solved the problem since then and I doubt they care as the app came free with the note 10.1
I went to ask about why upload to cloud doesn't work and was told to update to 1.5 so said about the problem to him and he didn't have an answer for me about the update issue, he kind of changed the subject
I like photoshop touch and it seems to have the biggest canvas I've used without any slowdown or relentless bugs like one art app I gave up with and just unistalled, another art app sketchbook ink, had high hopes for that but seems whatever you paint zoomed in shows blotchy when zoomed out so that's more money I lost on art apps that didn't work properly but apart from the really annoying non palm rejection and the fact that when you zoom out with your fingers sometimes the app doesn't pick it up and leaves marks on the art I'm doing and if I hadn't remembered to do another layer I have to go back and go over all the marks that I didn't spot earlier.
1.5 still hasn't got palm rejection btw and doubt it will for a while
I also like using photoshop touch more than the others because I'm colour blind and can only pick up a few colours without getting confused with other colours and they just have a small few colours and I can add my own pallette of colours by mixing...oh you know what I meant if you had trouble with colours.
I'd buy this app if I didn't already have it and my work that is in psd format can not be imported only saved on cloud plus why should I pay for something I got for free, I don't like this cloud saving it's just another way of getting money from people to sell them a little....empty space that's what is there but you can't see it only if you find it on a computer or whatever you have, next someone will come up with an idea for selling air and probably gravity one day.

While we wait, can you share what you think would be a useful scenario where pulling up a webpage on a tiny watchscreen will be more convenient than just pulling out your phone and doing it that way? I'm really curious and maybe you have a great idea I haven't considered.
Some kind of situation when you want to check things without hands free? Checking live train times while carrying luggage or checking football scores while it's raining perhaps?

Either of those scenarios you just mentioned are great, but voice commands w/ S Voice would be more useful (if it can even do this - I know Google Now can get me this info from my phone, but S Voice on the Gear currently just comes back and says "sorry, we couldn't find the answer to your question".
Also, if your hands are full, what makes you think that opening up and typing a web address on the watch's little screen will be "hands free"? You can't even interact with the watch without touching it with your other hand.

How would you navigate an app or browser without using you hands/fingers? Your football score scenario is already accomplished via ESPNs Score Center app. It can be configured to send notifications based on team preferences (i.e. notify of scoring plays during your fav team games).
And now that I think about it, if only the Google Maps app could be configured to send turn-by-turn notifications, we would sort of have GPS on our Gears.

oh I forgot about the turn by turn functionality - Pebbles can do this, even though I never got a chance to use it since my phone is mounted on my dashboard. Would be useful when walking in a city, though - without keeping your phone out. The problem of course is the watchscreen turns off again and you have to touch the watch and navigate to the app again to see the next direction.

Yep, and shortly after I posted this I came up with an article about that Pebble feature... however, it seems it is limited to the iOS version of Google Maps because it is able to send normal push notifications for each turn.
So I have that urge to buy something new and I've stumbled across the sony SW2 in my looking around and I was wondering if this would be worth it to buy? Those of you who have had one for a while, do you think I should get one?
I think it all depends on its use per the individual, it is very handy for me when I'm at work and in a meeting I can see who's calling and read messages etc and also when I'm on my motorbike also saves me having to pull out my phone to see whoa calling messages etc. I would say though if you have a Samsung phone then probably have a look at the gear

If you can get it for less than $150, that's a decent price... However, there's LG's and Moto's watches coming out this summer if you can wait a few months - but those are rumored to be around $250.

If you need a device to remote control your smartphone, then yes you should get it. If you are happy just taking your phone out of your pocket and using it, then you dont need the Sony Smartwatch 2. It is not an indepedent device. It can do almost nothing by itself, it is 99% dependent on your phone.
The best way to describe it is that it is a second screen to your smartphone. To be able to use it you must have your smartphone on you, at all times. It not autonomous working at all.
Hi all,
can this Sony SW2 keep the time by itself if I go running to the park and leave my phone at home? Just keep the time.
I know it would be more useful to take the phone in my pocket and probably try to have an Endomondo's Sports Tracker widget on the smartwatch.. does anyone knows about a good sports tracking app like Endomondo's ?
Thanks.
Sure, why not. It's only money.
I have had mine for 8 months and love it. I had not worn a watch in perhaps 20 years. (I'm a reformed pocket watch user.) If you like to know who is emailing and testing when it happens, covertly, it is great. There are other things it is great at too, but those are the #1 use. I like the color screen v.s. monochrome screens, but battery life suffers. Price is reasonable, relatively speaking, but if you are an Android user and have a little more $$, I'd wait until summer to see what the new Google based watches bring. They appear to be a step up. The only thing I'd wish for is voice transcription to reply to email or text and I believe that's coming in the Google OS watches.

Yes it can. And your SW2 comes with Runtastic, which is pretty okay for me.
Sw1 can keep time only till it has battery or has not been switched off. If you switch it off or battery finishes, you need to connect it again with your phone to get time.

Also it has no speaker or mic so youd need a bt headset. Which can already be used to answer calls.

LOL It's a fair question, I joined this forum when I have a Qtek 2200 (made by HTC and also known under the brands XDA, O2), and after a Qtek 2020i, and used this forum just to get some informations. When this devices become obsolete I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5830 but I didn't like the Froyo GUI so I change to iOS devices that aren't supported here. But since a few months ago I become tired of it, always the same and without big changes, and planned to switch again to android that had a big improvement since froyo and its know more appealing to use.
One of the thing that I found out immediately was the different ROM's available to install, and I have been playing with them in my devices.
So it's natural that now I had reasons to post, to clear my doughts.
I don't use to write just to make number, I hope that you'll be clear.

I see in the call extension app description that "answer call" is for Xperia Only. I have a rooted HTC One M8, but I did not move the app to the system partition (I doubled checked just to be sure); however, I can answer calls with my Sony Smartwatch 2. Not sure if it is because I am rooted or not, but I wanted to pass along my experience with my phone and the call extension app in question.
Rob
I've found that the lack of a 'Call Accept' button is not a major deal breaker for the Call Extension program. Wired or BT headsets have the action button, so the SW2 is still good. PLUS, with the recent upgrades to the core program, it's perfect to setup for a 'idling watch-face' that contains the pertinent information that I need.
Remember, the watch will allow you to tuck the phone back into the pocket or holster and leave it there. I myself enjoy starting an album as I leave the house to catch my bus for work, then just use the SmartMote Extension to change the song or tweak the volume on the sly.
Oh, and with the phone settings extension I found, I can cut the phone's Wi-Fi when I leave a well, so it doesn't draw extra power looking for a connection - without going fully into the watch apps, because it's latext update puts a shortcut directly into the watch-face itself!
Yeah, I'd recommend getting this watch, if you need a new watch. Once you have it, you find reasons to have it.... (Not the least, because it reduces the need to turn on the phone every five minutes to check it.)
