Hi guys,
I have a question i didn't know where to post this concedering its not for a particular device or platform so i posted it here any way here is my question i have a HTC EVO 3D and i want to upgrade, why do i want to upgrade 2 reasons number one screen size its too small i had a GALAXY Note so when i went back to the EVO its small and the second one is the Processor its fast but not too fast anyway i was planning on buying the GALAX S III international version when it comes out but after i saw the price i was surprised its 800$ for the 16 GB so im stuck with the following and i need an advice (of course if by the time the S III comes out the price drops to around 600-650 i'll buy it )
Here are the phones im thinking of (and if u have other phones please tell me)
1- HTC One X international version
2-HTC Titan II
3-GALAXY Note
Please help thank you.

I'd go for the Note. Cheaper and overall better. Sure the One X is quadcore, but Tegra kinda sucks so the extra buck you have to add isn't really worth it. Titan is quite meh.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Go for the One X , the screen is better the CPU is very fast and the GPU with custom roms increase the phones overall performance. I would only recommand the GALAXY Note if you email a lot because it feels like the note is designed for the business person in mind.
I don't know what kind of prices you got there guys but here the Note is about 200€ cheaper than the One X, which isn't that much better, not like 200€-better for sure IMHO. It actually is inferior for some aspects, like screen size (and pentile ain't bad on a 5.3"), removable battery, sd slot, and that pen thing that is mostly a gimmick but oh well. Once it gets even cheaper I'll definitely pull the trigger on one of those. I used one for a day last week, coupled with an extended battery and a Rii Keyboard it proved to be a very nice and portable mini tablet, the tablet mode you get on AOSP ROMs is also pretty sick. Not a great fan of those new Htc phones with locked bootloaders and all that jazz. ICS sources for the Note have just been released by the way, even better ROMs will come very soon, even tho AOKPs are already 99% hack free and rock solid.

Use a website like phonescoop.com to compare them side-by-side. See exactly what each specs are and which one has the specs you really care about. That would be of great help.

HTC One X
HTC Sence UI beats Note in 100 ways
Why not the nexus. Its much cheaper than the s3 and its a great phone. Still one of the best and probably the best price/goodness ratio.
galaxy note is the best
i have one and it's greate
I like the GALAXY Nexus cause of its display and stock ICS but i use SD Card so i need a phone with an option to expaned my memory but i kept the HTC One X cause of its Quad Core Processor

I dont know the price is kinda of an issue but and the screen size (im a fan of the 5"screens) its of course better in preformance no doubt but im from the few fans of the Touchwiz UI its more simple than the Sense UIor maybe cause im used to it i had 3 devices with TouchWiz so i find it easier but still the HTC One X stunning camera, preformance and display is a plus
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
Ok but the One X have a worst battery than the EVO 3D....
Galaxy Note or Galaxy S2.. with additional batteries
if easy to hold better take s2 if you want better take galaxy note or tab
I dont know but HTC devices tend to have bad battery life for some reason LOL

Galaxy Note very big I think.. You can't touch all screen by one hand, sometimes I you'll need that.. S2 The Best!
HTC good but not good enough
It's a year in, and I'm still really enjoying my Samsung infuse. true 4g would be nice, but the devs are working on Miui ICS and it looks awesome
i used all of them. my advice is : GALAXY Note is a good one if you don't mind the big size. then chose GALAXY S2 !

4g is good.. very good.. great, but in some places there is no 4g unfortunately only 3g or worst.
I'd like my S2 to have 4g, but it's not.. Maybe you'd better wait for S3?
I dont mind the big screen actually i want something bigger than 4.3" i dont know why many people think its too big im really into big devices but not over 5.3" cause that would be really inconvienent for a mobile phone thats why i kept in mind choices like the HTC Titan 1/2 cause i really like the Metro UI and WP is kinda between the line of simplicity and costumizations still android is the best im freaking confused guys tell me more about ur experiance with the devices ur advising thanks

Hi guys hoping you can help.
Ive had my Xperia Play since new, but its screen has gone and feels slow compared to my mates phones now.
Ive been offered the choice of 3 phones.
Nokia Lumia
Samsung Galaxy s3
Xperia U
Im only really interested in making calls, texts, emails, music, browsing and games. All the other special features that come with all new phones are just a gimmick to me, (My X Play was rooted and bloat free within an hour of me getting it) so things like "Siri" on Iphone and S-Voice on Samsung are not a deal winner for me.
One thing I would like is to be able to hook my phone up to my TV via HDMI, something that was GREATLY overlooked on the Xplay, mores the pity.
So, seeing as im no expert, and you guys at XDA seem to be in the know please vote and if you pick "other" leave a comment explaining what phone and why.
Many thanks guys and gals!
Mr Flipfoot
it is also depending on what you want to pay for it
if it doesn´t matter what it cost
i would choose the s3 by samsung cause it has the best performance i think (and many custom roms of course and official update support)
you could connect it to your tv with the following adapter by samsung:
EPL-3FHUBE
(sry i can´t post a link because im a new member )
I would choose Samsung S3 because of the performance. If you're a mean android gamer then it's great for you. But if I really get to choose, I'd love to have Xperia acro S. It has 12MP, 1.5 dual core, HDMI, 11GB internal memory, up to 32 GB SD card and others.. It also looks sleek. You should search for it. I'm not much on the processor speed. I just love Sony's design and features. A fast, beautiful phone that could do everything I want would be great enough. This is just a suggestion. The decision is yours of course.
It all depends on
1 what is your budget
2 carrier (contract specific carrier or prepaid)
With your requirements and considering all carriers supported
Galaxy nexus, S2 or S3.

I agree with this. People always look at a Nexus' specs and go "it looks totally average, why get that when you can get a Galaxy S III or blahblahblah". Hardware specs will only get you so far. What good are they, though, when your software is perpetually bloated and outdated? I'd rather not be at the mercy of Samsung/HTC/whoever for updates.
The Nexus development scene is second to none, too.

Wait for the Note II to come out.
(I'm presuming that you're very interested in games, browsing etc.)
I know i'm getting hated for saying this but am i the only one that thinks the S3 is overrated? I'd rather have a Galaxy Nexus than an S3. And there are quite a few alternatives to the S3 like the One X (Many reviewers say it has the best screen out there), the 4X HD (Also IPS LCD like the One X but with bigger removable battery and microSD slot), the Galaxy Nexus (Sure, it isn't a quad core but if you check out on youtube a comparison between the GN and a quad core phone you will see that the Nexus can be as smooth (On JellyBean) or even smoother not to mention you get all the updates first) also the RAZR MAXX (It might not be the best phone spec wise but it has a huge battery which provides excellent battery life).
Sorry for the bad english.
Hi Everyone,I currently own a Sony Xperia S which was launched back in 2012.It has a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S3 chip with 1GB RAM and Adreno 220 GPU.I recently saw the Moto G and was actually amazed by its specs considering its price.I am actually planning to pick up the 16GB model for myself but I wanted to know whether it is worth to upgrade from the Xperia S to the Moto G as my daily Driver? The Xperia S has NFC and a very good 13 megapixel camera,The Moto G on the other hand has no NFC and has a 5 megapixel camera.
I am inclined to buy the Moto G because of its performance as my Xperia S does show some lag now and it is stuck on official Android 4.1.2 JellyBean.
So what do you guys suggest? Is it worth buying the Moto G?Will I see an increased performance in Games and everyday tasks on the Moto G compared to my Xperia S?
Do help me with your valuable advice
Thanks
P.S Even If I buy the Moto G,I will be keeping the Xperia S with me.I will not sell it
The moto g is great phone and its not expensive. It runs on vanilla android and you won't be disappointed, battery life is amazing

I have the same doubt...
IMHO these are the benefits and the disadvantages of buying the MG:
Pro:
Best optimization software-hardware
Best hardware
Bigger screen and similar resolution (just a little)
Pure Android and future upgrades
Battery duration
Prize
50 GB Drive (only 2 years)
Cons:
Only 8GB (In my case because I'll only can pay for it)
Only white led notifications
No HDMI output
No NFC (irrelevant in my case)
Worse camera (only hardware camera, I've no idea about sofware camera)
Lack of Sony apps and smallapps (only if you like it)
No earphones and no charger (It doesn't mind)
Worse earphones quality sound (I'm not sure with this point)
I'll buy it for sure!!! I like it so much!!!

Though the Xperia S developers are working very hard, the Customs ROM still don't support everything.Like there are still issues with the 4.3 ROM for Xperia S.
I have tried custom rom in the past and will definitely flash once a stable one is out

Moto G has USB OTG,so you can carry a pen drive with you.
I guess you can enable different colours in LED using Light Flow
I am not a big fan of Sony's UI and I prefer vanilla android!
And I will be keeping the Xperia S too,so I won't miss NFC or HDMI on the Moto G.
I actually want to buy the Moto G for its specs because the Xperia S is really slowing down.

It depends on whats important to you, as always... If you need/want a good cam and NFC, better keep your phone. If you want a great battery life and better performance and especially AOSP, moto G should be your choice
I am thinking about switching as well, since I own a LG L9. Its' battery can easily keep up with the moto G. But as probably everyone knows, LG sucks concerning updates.
Also I think the performance would be much better, of course
But who in the world needs that?

I am also confused
I want to change my s2 (thanks to poor battery and oldie feeling)
Bt m confused between nexus 4 and moto g ..
Nexus 4 is a bit more costlier here but also has a better camera and a larger screen wid better gpu ofcourse and more ram...
Bt moto g has a better battery life than any other power hungry phone. Also i can rest sure that the next android version will be available on moto g but not sure about it on nexus 4 (thannks to crappy 18month policy)
Also moto g here will cost around $250 (everything costly in india )
And nexus 4 will cost $300

I have the same confusion . I want to buy Moto G because its New, Made by Moto/Google (The biggest reason I mean know how android works and how they can increase performance with Hardware and well they will keep the best product for themself ),Good looking (Love the backcover),Good specs and most of all it's price.
I want to buy Nexus 4 because of it's Specs,The Nexus Tag.
I just don't want to regret after buying any phone (be it a phone of MMX,Moto,LG,etc)
It will be my self-made christmas present LoL it definetly convinced me!
In the store where i bought the moto g there's an offer for the nexus 4 so i could return the motorola and buy the nexus 4 adding 50€.
Now I don't know what to do, the nexus 4 is faster and it can be rooted without losing warranty...and I could use MIUI rom(<3)! Cons: battery, display and 50€ more expensive...does it worth?

If I were you, I'd refuse and stay with the Moto G.
Why? N4 is just a bit faster (1,5 vs 1,2 GHz) but it's already an "old" device (more than 1 year) and it's going to be officially supported for no more than other 6 months. Moto G combines great performances with absolutely huge battery life, that you won't have on a N4.
Obviously the N4 is supported by the community, so there will be plenty of roms in the future, but I'm sure that Moto G will be kept alive as well over the years.
Last but not least, the 50€ difference is not so convenient.
For the warranty, if you live in European Union (as it seems, since you wrote the price in €), rooting a device does not void the statutory warranty. So don't worry about that, it's the same for each device. Read more: http://fsfe.org/freesoftware/legal/flashingdevices.en.html
The Moto G is gonna have more support, and is a NEW DEVICE, that's the biggest point in favor to Moto G
I've used to own a Nexus 4 and it was a great phone. However I prefer my Moto G. It's very similar performance wise, but the Moto has much better battery life and I think the screen is also slightly better. The Nexus 4 does have a better camera though.
Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
I have both and I like them both. If the prices were almost the same, I would pick the N4. Given the price difference between the N4 and Moto G, I would go with the Moto G.
Go for the Nexus 4.
I own both, Nexus 4 and Moto G. If I have to decide I'd pick the Nexus 4.
And I don't think it's smart to ask that question in a Moto G forum.

Yeah same here. The Moto G is a fine phone, but it feels like a budget phone (which is fine, it was 179..) The Nexus 4 feels like a premium device and has the hardware to match. You can't go wrong with either one but I'd stick with my N4 over my Moto G, no doubt.
I had a n4 now using a moto g. And I would keep my moto g if I was u. Battery life on the n4 was bad. And battery life on my g is better than my lg g2. So I'm gonna sell the g2 and keep my moto g as my daily. It will have support soon. A cheap 90% stock android experience with unlocked bootloader and root. Yea the g will have the support it needs. And to me the g doesn't feel cheap, build quality feels like a 400 dollar device to me???
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What about quality of photos?
Is unlocking of g's bootloader causing a permament warranty void?
Lol are u really worried camera quality? But it takes decent pics to me go to the app thread for moto g there a pic quality thread in there and judge yourself

The moto g only has 1gb of RAM which is my biggest gripe because I'm always having to reload apps. However it depends what's important to you. If camera is and battery life isn't then go n4, otherwise come to the moto g.
Regarding developer support: I haven't seen a lot so far (2 ROM variations of stock) so I don't think the possibly of multiple ROMs will be as good as the n4

The g hasn't even been out a month. Roms take time( and usually the right people getting or interested in the device) so over time the g will get big dev support. And with my apps and music installed can't even tell I'm using a device with only 1gb of ram.
The problem with the n4 is the battery life. Makes Me wonder why the g with a lesser battery does a world of better battery life than the n4
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Devs on it for CM11 and if that works other Roms. But as said : It takes Time to port it. The MotoG will have great Support for Custom-Roms i'm sure. It's a nice Device for a unbeatable Price. You'll not see any Phone in the same Category soon to this Price.
I came from a Galaxy S3, and i dont have to regret this move. (Ok Display had a small crack, and repair was just too expansive (140 €).
I think Nexus 4 is a more 'premium' device. And you get more ram
Everyone who use android knows that its annoying when you are multitasking with heavy apps and when you switch to other app only to find it has been cleared off memory and has to be reloaded...
Edit: Also the argument about how nexus 4 is an older device
Am not an expert but I read that the soc used in nexus 4 altho older but was still very highend whereas in moto g its a newer butmidranged budget one.
So is this like an yr old Mercedes being compared to a brand new Volvo?

I would get the Nexus 4, no question it's better.
Someone above said it's only a bit faster, 1.5ghz vs 1.2ghz. There is way more too it than that. The S4 Pro (Krait) stomps the Snapdragon 400 (Cortex A7) into the ground. It's a seriously superior SoC.

But in real world usage you don't notice that at all. Lol
At the end of the day to me the g is a better device mainly due to the battery life. But once again it depends on what you need out of your android phone.

I currently have a Nexus 4 as my first smartphone and I'm considering switching to a Moto G, mostly because of it's superior battery life and it's less fragile back.
First of all, I got between 4,5h-5,5h SOT on my Nexus 4 (Stock Android 4.4.2, Nova Launcher, mostly no 3G and auto screen brightness, battery safing location sync). Since I stream music from Google Play the music app got a lot more resource hungry and I only get about 3-4h SOT, which is still okay, but causes a lot of focus battery life during the day. If you think you are a power user and you don't want to worry about your phone's battery life at the end of the day, definitly get the Moto G.
I've held the Moto G and the Nexus 4 both in my hands and the Nexus 4 definitly feels more like a premium device to me. The problem with the Nexus is its' fragile glass back. I keep my Nexus in a super unhandy flip case which is super unhandy and I always worry about dropping my Nexus. I guess I'd be less paranoid about dropping a Moto G, since at least it's back can't break if I'd drop it.
Put N4 in a TPU case, no worries about the back then.
I have both!, moto g (my wife) its super fast, but N4 (mine) it's faster, better ram, better looking, better support, best reseller (only less battery)

Soooo im ready to get another device and not sure what todo. i have $100s on amazon and i was looking at the moto g but im not sure if it would be better than my Galaxy s2 T989, they have some similar specs i want to say that the moto gs quad core 1.2ghz is = to my Dual core 1.5ghz, its the same screen size but the ppi is hugely higher (100+!) and it has a better GPU than my s2 but the s2 has expandable storage plus the 16gigs that are built in while the moto g will have only 8gigs. i wont be using them as phones just Mp3 players, i also have another thought, should i just wait and save up money for a galaxy s3? $500 for one off contract is cancerous i have my birthday coming up in may, would you guys think i should just wait and the price might go down? or any other recommendations, the display has to be 4.5" or higher and the screen needs to be brighter than my s2.
thanks

Don't. Your device still has some juice left for a year or two, and the moto g has its drawbacks as you mentioned.
If you got tired of Sammy's touchwiz UI- There a lot of 4.4.2 roms available for your model, so you won't feel so behind...

BTW- Nexus5 will be a better option then s3 (and cheaper- 400$ for 32GB ver)
