I was just wondering if there was a way to disable calls while tethering my data connection to my laptop. Any workarounds would be appreciated. I just dont want incoming calls to interrupt my data connection. I'm using an optimus v on the virgin mobile network running CM7.2 IHO.
thanks

Anyone know how to be able to Talk on the Phone (Using Voice) while tethering to a PC / Mac , I know I can talk on the phone while using PIE and other internet based applications on the Treo, but NOT WHEN I HAVE IT TETHERED via Dial-up Networking (either via Bluetooth or USB). Basically I have tried both, and am using a MacBook Pro, and successfully tethered to the internet through both BT and USB but it HANGS UP if I make a call (and I presume it hangs up when I receive a call), but either way it does not treat the TETHERING the same as using INTERNET on the Treo, is this just some Registry entry thats causing the problem or something?
Please help I have been trying 10098098034298 things to get it to work; however I only have a VERY limited knowledge of Windows Mobile 5.0 and am pretty useless. If someone could even just give me insight on what settings or registry entry(ies) deal with this I could play around with it an post any results once I stumble upon them...
Thank you so much in advance!!!!!!!!!
It all depends on the network connection you have.
GSM/GPRS doesnt support Voice and Data where UMTS does.
Make sure that you have a 3G connection.
Yes I do have a 3G connection, this same thing (Tethering when using Voice) works on my LG CU500 flawlessly both when using USB and BLUETOOTH to tether, no drop in speeds and voice is crystal clear.
Not sure if its the way in which I am dialing up or something, or if its some bug in the 750. let me know if you guys can helop. [email protected]!

Click to collapse
Go to Menu>Preferences>Phone Settings and select the Services tab. Select the band selection and make sure to turn off auto and bind to UMTS only. If you are in auto and connected to GSM network and try to place a call while connected to DUN, thte call should suspend for a total of 13 minutes before disconnecting. If you are selected to strict UMTS then you should be OK for DUN and voice.
if i am connected to wifi do my calls and my text go through the wifi? such as a blackberry?
no
not unless you use skype to call
When I activate tethering (via WIFI or USB) using Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Tethering & Portable Hotspot, I lose the "3G" icon in my notification bar.
My laptop receives an IP address from the phone but no DNS routing. My phone is unable to receive data of any kind, including Google Voice messages.
This seems like a communication issue between my phone and Sprint when tethering is active. Did I miss a firmware or radio upgrade somewhere?
I'm running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0 on my Nexus S 4G. Baseband D720SPRKE1.
you shouldn't lose 3g...you will lose your 4g, but 3g should stay active. you can try pda net, barnacle, and easy tether if you'd like another solution (fyi, for ns4g, pda net's usb tether will allow a 4g connection )
*edit*
noticed you're running CM7...it may be a bug with that rom, and installing a 3rd party tether app should solve it for you
So I have a new Razr HD and I've rooted it and done the hotspot hack but when I connected my computer to the phone to use the internet it drops my data for 5 seconds. Once it comes back as soon as the 4G LTE symbol turns blue it will drop again and it repeats this until I disable wifi on my computer. Wifi tether and USB tether all have the same results as the hotspot app. Does anyone know what could be causing this or what I can do to fix this. I have 5 bars and it NEVER drops unless I've connected a computer to it. I have unlimited data and it's an employee account (relative) so I really don't see what the hell is the issue.
Problem fixed:

I'm using PDANET+ for USB tethering and it works perfect, and wifi tether Trevor mod for wireless tethering. No more throttled tethering. No more disconnects. The factory hotspot/tethering still drops my 4G.
Anyone else having issues with bluetooth tethering dropping out? (rooted but stock rom )
It appears to happen randomly, and the only way that I can get it started again is to turn off bluetooth on the nexus 5, turn it back on again and restart bluetooth tethering then re-connect my device.
There are no issues/problems with tethering by my phone operator as my deal has unlimited all you can eat data with all you can use unlimited tethering included.
