[Q] Error 24 upon Chrome install - Asus Transformer TF700

I recently installed the latest version of Cromi-x. Since then I no longer can get Google Chrome to work, does not even show as an installed app. Tried to install from play store but get an error 24 upon installation. Tried to unistall previous Chrome but cannot find any trace of it in user nor system apps.
Any suggestions on how to get Chrome installed again? Or, is Cromi-x just not compatable.

I believe this has been answered in the CROMi-X thread about a week ago. Are you using cache2sd?
Unfortunately I forgot the solution

[Q] App Not Installed - Netflix/prime1.7

So I'm too new to post this to the dev thread, otherwise I'd have posted to the rom post.
I have been trying to install the netflix, netflix_mediaclient_246.apk. Before updating the prime 1.7 I was on the stock 3.2 update, without netflix installed. I updated to Prime1.7 and added the pcb theme (Wicked cool theme BTW)
I've tried a couple of sources, but when I attempt to install the netflix app, it says installing, then goes I get an error, "Application not Installed"
When reviewing the thread, some people referenced downloading netflix from the market, but I don't see it in the market, so I used downloaded copies.
Prime ostensibly already has the netflix patch, but I do need to get the basic software installed. Why would an app not install? I've never seen this type of error before.
Thanks
Have you enabled apps from third-party sources in the settings?
Yes, and I've sideloaded other apps since I went prime.
try using an app installer, and make sure that you don't have a bad version of netflix already installed.
I had done a full nvflash restore before going to honeycomb 3.2 so there is no previous NetFlix Install. I've tried easyInstaller, apk installer and appInstaller from the market all result in the same thing.
I've tried installing the .apk from an SD card mounted in the keyboard, from microSD on the tablet itself, and from the tablets own internal sdcard. All have the same result.
The application starts to install, says installing, then I get the red x with Application Not Installed.
I'm wondering if I should reimage prior to adding prime, try installing netflix and the reinstall prime - but I don't want to have to rebuild my data again
I was having the same issue, but ran the apk from total commander on my micro sd and it installed from there. However I am on rooted stock 3.2.
Total commander seems a cool little app- sadly like everything else. i get Application not Installed.
boo
I'm thinking at this point it's cwm restore, install netflix, re-prime. bah, I'll wait till the weekend, when resyncing touchdown will go much better.
SOLVED:
Grabbed the .apk from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150
Named mediaclient_1. I was trying the 246 apk that I found on a few other threads.
Happy netflixing.

[Q] Unable to install apps from Play Store

Hello,
Post rooting (repenting it already) my Samsung Galaxy S Plus (GTI9001), I am unable to install any apps via Play Store. I am able to install apk's from the SD Card though. I un-rooted the phone but problem persist.
When I try to install any app, I can see the app being downloaded on the notification but the moment the download completes nothing happens. When i go to Play Store > My Apps I could see that it still says downloading though the app is fully downloaded. I guess some permission issues here. Please help.
I have already cleared Play Store cache and tried.

Hello,
Which Rom do you use? Maybe you have to root it again. Usually you can fix permissions in CWM. Have you tried to restart after "Download is finished". For Me it was working on my Asus EeePad.

Chris, I am still on stock ROM and I am not likely to go for a custom ROM since there are not much good ROM's available for Samsung Galaxy S Plus and Yes I tried multiple reboots. After reboot, on the notification it says that app download failed due to some error with a number.
Thanks for your reply.
Same issue
Reyolin,
I have had the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus but it has only started today. Mine has been rooted for about 5 months now, since I first got it.
I did a search using EStrong File explorer and it found a file called "downloadfile.apk" in /cache (I assume this is the file as it is the same file size as stated in the Play store. However, when I tried to run or copy it it had disappeared.
It's almost like the APK is being downloaded and then being deleted before installation actually occurs.
I think rooting your phone and the inability to install apps is just coincidental.
I will do some more playing about and see what I can find (I also already tried removing the Google Play updates (to go back to the old style Market). This still did not solve the problem.

Exactly same proble
Hi,
I have exaclty the same problem (galaxy s plus), rooted 5 month ago and problem started 2 days ago...
I updated superuser at that time and tried to update the su binarie but it fails on validation of new su and stopped (not replacing old su), this is the only thing I can remember of. root is still working with old su. Maybe the cleaning needs to be done ?
Has someone found a way to fix this?
edit:
after some investigation, this is what happens:
if I try to install one app from play store, it is downloaded correctly and then nothing happens.
the file downloaded is in /cache/downloadfile.apk
If I copy this file to /sdcard/external_sd/downloadfile.apk and run it manually it installs correctly.

galaxy s plus specific issue
i am having the same problem since morning and i also use Samsung galaxy s plus, so certainly the issue is phone specific.
Good news! Problem solved for me
Hi,
I contacted google play support and her was there answer:
Thanks for contacting us and I am sorry for the delay in responding.
We've gotten some reports that users with Samsung Galaxy S Plus devices running Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread) are having trouble using Google Play. We're aware of this issue and to solve it we recommend you to uninstall updates to the Google Play app by following these steps:
1. Tap Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2. Find the "All" tab
3. Scroll down to Play Store and tap to select
4. Tap "Uninstall updates"
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
So I followed this and it works again!
Here are the steps after doing google recommendations:
- click google play icon, it will open old google market
- install an application, for me it worked again!
- exit google market
- click again the google play icon, it will ask to accept google play license
- click yes and then try to install another app, it worked again!
Hope this will solve also your issues,
Stef
I Just had the same problem. Here is how I fixed it,
- Uninstalled updates for Google Play
- I added a New Google Account.
- I Then signed into the new Google Account, Then Sign Into Your Main Account
And "BOOM" problem solved.

Google Play 489 error

After doing all of these:
*delete all account
*cleared playstore, google services, framework cache and data
*disabling and force stop this 3
*full clean restore(after performing this, I can download all my and new apps, but when update comes and try to install it, it gives me 489 error also)
still having this annoying 489 error even I did the steps above specially on updating apps because "sometimes" downloading new app is possible without error and sometimes it does 489 error.
I have 3 gmail accounts on my G2. When I tried downloading on my account 'A' and it gives me 489 error, I switched to my account 'B' and it will download it, and when I tried to switch again on my account 'A' then tried to download new app, it will work. But this only happens rarely because most of the time it gives me 489 error.
I have one solution to download new updates, and that is uninstalling the app and installing it which is really annoying and tiring to do specially when there is 5+ apps that have new versions and like I said, sometimes downloading app is not working it gives me this hilarious 489 error.
Last time, I really want to hammer this phone, but I think my G2 has nothing to do with my problem, it is the play store.
Btw I have:
G2 D80220B KK
Dori Kernel
xposed
Titanium backed up apps(i don't think this is the problem, because my last restore of these apps is since March 2014 and all installs and updates are working fine until last week)
blocked apps by titanium
*fused location
*google search
*location services
*smart screen
*smartshare push
*smartshare.beam
*street view
*tags
*talkback
*voice mate
I hope someone can help me here. Or is it possible to install new google play APK from others phone that don't have this problem? Really need some help here.
Thanks
Trying installing a new gapps package for your android version through recovery.
Just googles gapps package for android (version e.g 4.1.2)
Flashing the wrong gapps results to such errors like yours

I'm on stock 4.4.2 with stock Gapps, and I came from fresh restore. like I said, Google play works fine until last week. ok, if it is really the gapps, I'll try to install pa gapps and we'll see. Thanks

[Completed] Can't login to Google after flashing ROM [2-step Authentication]

I am running Slimkat f2fs. I tried to dirty flash the latest version of ROM + slim gapps.
The device runs well but I get all these errors in the notification area saying that "An application requires installation of Google...." and the play store tries to open but never does.
I think this is all because of my 2-step authentication but I'm not sure.
I even tried removing my google account from the device and adding it again, but now I can't add it. It says trouble connecting to google. Can anyone help?
thanks
Hi there,
You must give us more details about your device/ROM. But I this flashing again GApps will solve this error. If not, you can try to wipe cache/dalvik and try again.
Good luck
I finally got it working. As the notification errors indicated, I needed to install Google Play Services. I was pretty sure it was installed but obviously not correctly.
I downloaded a version of the google play services apk from android police and then the error changed to needing to upgrade Google Play Services (rather than needing to install). After upgrading in the play store everything is working fine now. In the end, I don't think 2-step authentication had anything to do with the issue.
BTW, reinstalling gapps, both full and mini, would not correct the error. Only installing the apk fixed things.
My device is N7 2012, "grouper". I am running the 9.0 version of Slimkat with Mkernel.

App Not Installed (solved)

I'm trying to update AdAway and BitSlide but both have been banned from the Play Store and/or are not available with their current versions anywhere but their own github or source sites. When I try to install them, I get a very vague and unhelpful error for "application not installed" which doesn't tell me anything.
I've tried force closing them, freezing in TiBackup and using an APK installer app from the Play Store, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? Googling this extensively and looking around on XDA, Reddit, etc. haven't helped.
Solution: After trying to load via ADB it provided a much more useful error for me to troubleshoot "signatures do not match previously installed version; ignoring!" which obviously meant I had signature mismatches on the apps I was trying to install. I simply uninstalled them and then was able to re-install new versions via ADB or natively on the phone (either install method worked). Simple fix!
