[Q] Help required please. Unable to flash ICS firmware

Appologies in advance I suspect that this has been covered somewhere but i've spent hours so far and cannot find anything specific to my problem.
I was running Insert coin 2.5.1 on Gingerbread 2.3.4 and decided to upgrade to ICS.
I had clockwork mod 5 working and tried to flash ICS rom , (insertcoin sense 4, v1.7).
The firmware loaded ok but when rebooting the phone I got constant bootloop.
Read the forums and reealised that i needed to load PG58IMG.zip to change to the ICS bootloader. I loaded this file which took ok and has changed the bootloader.
When entering the bootloader i get

I can get into recovery but when i try and flash either insertcoin sense 3.6 or 4 ROMs from the root of the sd card, they fail to load, with "signature verification failed". Can anyone please assist?

hey the roms you've downloaded need to be flashed from recovery
its recovery flashable zip
first of all get 4EXT recovery(more compatible for custom roms)...and then flash the rom
im linking a good guide on how to flash a rom ...refer post #2 from the guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
Thanks for the quick response, i will check out the thread and see how i get on.
Hi ganeshp
I have tried but cannot get 4EXT recovery to install onto the phone. I can only gain access to the bootloader and a basic recovery. I have no ROM loaded onto the phone, reboot gives me a black screen. I have screwed the phone up big time.
I cannot talk to the phone via my windows 7 PC even with all software required attached. The bootloader promt changes from fastboot to fastboot usb when I connect the phone but cmd prompt still doesn't connect to the phone?
I need to perform all functions to restore a ROM via the recovery menu as that is all I have but which ROM should work with my Bootloader version???
Thanks

ohhh .not so fast...
now remeber this AS LONG AS YOU GOT BOOTLOADER YOU ARE NOT BRICKED AT ALL
the reason 4EXT didnt worked via fastboot because you got *locked* bootloader..flash the 3.32 firmware again using the same guide ive linked post #1 ...then do the steps in post #2

Try to avoid running the latest RUU for the time being until you have tried other methods, once you run the latest RUU it will update your hboot version to 1.14 and it will cause a lot of problems for you when you want to upgrade your radio rom. Make sure youo have flashed the boot.img after you flash the rom otherwise it will cause your phone to hang on the load screen.
Here is a link to the appropraite RUU files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543588. However i recommend you try a fresh install of Energy Rom with a full wipe (cache/dalvik/system/factory reset) and flash boot.img after to see if it fixes your problem because if you run RUU and update hboot there is no going back.

Double reboot-loop after succesfull boot.img

Hey guys,
I can really use your help - I thought this would be relatively easy but boy was I wrong.
I started with an HTC Sensation (locked / unrooted / S-ON / ICS) with HBOOT 1.27
What did I do to end up where I am now?
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497404 - I followed all the steps top left to unlock the bootloader, which succeeded. Only to find out I needed to S-OFF the device differently.
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617 - I followed this guide, but did nothing with step 2 (I didn't have a superuser application and couldn't get root because I didn't have any custom abilities since the device was S-ON still). Device was succesfully S-OFF.
3. Here I installed JuopunutBear HBOOT-1.27.1111
4. Then I flashed CWM Recovery 6.0.0.3 for the pyramid by following these instructions: http://www.androidauthority.com/sensation-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-0-3-custom-recovery-105930/ and removed the PG58IMG.zip file again.
5. Now I booted the CWM Recovery with a fully empty Micro-SD card (already formatted from previous use in same device). I do a factory reset and wipe all cache (including dalvik/battery stats). I then install January 9 '13 release (Bruce AOKP) and then GAPPS latest version for 4.1.2 - succesful.
6 Here I think I am done, reboot ... HTC white screen ... reboot ... HTC white screen ... CWM Recovery. What the ... happens everytime. After some searching people said because my phone was unlocked (HTCDev method) before installing custom ROM I should install boot.img manually. Did that (yes I used the boot.img from Bruce his zip) using fastboot flash boot boot.img - succes (so it said).
7. Step 6 changed nothing ... and here I am stuck .... please help me to get into my favourite mod!

Root is a userspace level thing that shouldn't affect the installations of ROMs, plus all ROMs (except for stock ROMs) come pre-rooted. SensationProblem, I suggest you install the TWRP recovery from here: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/pyramid/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-pyramid.img
Flash this using fastboot. This is the command to flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-pyramid.img
After it completes successfully, reboot the bootloader then after it reboots back into the bootloader select the bootloader option then just enter the recovery from there. In the recovery, go to Wipe and wipe the Cache, Dalvik Cache, Factory Reset, and System, then flash Bruce's CM10.

Dude that worked, thank you so much (want to give kudo's - can't find button). Can you maybe shortly explain to me why it worked? Because as I can understand it now it was because of something in the CWM Recovery that was messing things up?

The current version of CWM for the Sensation is extremely old and, as a result, does not support the installation of Jelly Bean ROMs.

After S-ON system won't boot to OS. Please Help!

Hi guys
I've looked everywhere for a solution. Maybe someone know another post that I might've missed.
My phone won't start, it keeps rebooting to the white HTC screen.
Right, now to the problem. Before this problem I had a custom ROM installed (Carbon 4.3) which was getting a few errors so I decided to restore it with clockworkmod from a previous backup. Now what this did is turned the device to ****Locked**** and S-ON .
So what I did next is use HTCDEV to unlock it. Well that bit worked but it's still S-ON.
Now it shows

I can still go in to Recovery and use the 4EXT recovery Touch (v1.0.0.4 RC3) and i managed to wipe everything including the SD as I already backed it up. After I installed a custom ROM (Blitz 4.0). Everything went well, finished installing successfully. After a reboot the phone won't start to the OS. It keeps looping to the White HTC screen (without even vibrating every time it reboots). So I can install any ROM but can't boot into it.
I even re-partitioned my SD thinking that the mSD was the issue but no luck.
Any particular advice how can I fix this?
Many thanks!
Go to recovery---> tools--->enable smart flash
And flash Rom it will work
OR
flash boot from Rom by fastboot command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
For kitkat Rom update 4ext recovery to latest o think its rc 6

Hi and thanks for quick reply.
I've tried the first method (but no luck)
Although second one worked like a charm! :good: Thanks for that. Now my next question is: If I want to install another ROM will it make the same problem? If yes then how do I get the from S-ON to S-OFF? Will the Revolutionary Utility help ,me or mess it up?
Thanks again. :good:

just to know enable smartflash exactly before flashing the rom
and yes you will have to do the same if smartflash fail again
if you want to S-OFF you have to flash stock rom first
then follow this guide

[Q] Help - Phone not loading past HTC logo

I recently bought a HTC Desire S secondhand, however when it arrived I turned it on to find that it just displays the HTC logo then a black screen. It has 4ext installed - which is what loads when try to do a factory reset.
I have no experience with installing custom ROMs but I'm pretty good at following instructions. I'm hoping that someone here will be able to tell me how to fix this!

Not sure what version of 4EXT you have on your phone. Recommend you update it to a newer, if not the latest, version before you start flashing. Download recovery image file and flash via fastboot. Before installing a new ROM, choose "format all partitions except SD card' for a complete wipe.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377745
Your phone is S-on so remember to flash boot.img whenever you flash a new ROM, otherwise it would mostly fail to boot.
Try Cyanogenmod first, It's not the latest and greatest, but a good and safe ROM to get you started
