[Q] Restoring sms.db - General Questions and Answers

Cant find the answer here or on Google .. so posting in the hope somebody can help!!
Huawei G300 needed to be Factory Reset ... followed the system instructions by allowing the device to create a Backup.zip file containing a number of *.db files and an *.xml file under the directory /mnt/ext_sdc/HuaweiBackup ... which is all fine .. but HOW does one go about restoring this data after having performed the Factory Reset????
I have searched google to the limits ... no advice unless i had used a third party Backup and Restore APP in the first place ... so it seems!!
All i need is to restore the SMS.DB file ... can somebody suggest how or point me to where i might find the solution???
Many thanks in advance

PIM backup woes- HELP anyone who knows programming....

ok i deleted my PIM backup file on accident. i did however recover these files using a data recovery software that i found. here are the files [names] that I recovered:
appts_20071027.pba
contacts_20071027.pbc
custom_20070903.pbx (i assume this one is old and i dont care about it)
custom_20071027.pbx
msgs_20071027.pbm
PIMBackup_20071027.pib
speeddials_20071027.pbd
tasks_20071027.pbt
i could NOT recover
clogs_20071027.pbt
so my dilemma lies in that when i try to run PIMBackup file or contacts backup file i get this message after "Analysing file structure...":
"invalid contacts backup file type, Nothing done." or if i try and select the PIMBackup file it just gives an error and wont even let me attempt the backup. the error is entitled "PIM restore error" and contains "The format of the file "\My Documents\recovered\PIMBackup_20071027.pib" is invalid."
is the main backup file invalid because i am unable to extract the clogs file? can i delete that entry or section of the file? why cant i just restore my contacts only? this is driving me insane i REALLY need my contacts this is VERY important. please anyone i will be indebted to you for life if you can help me i am desperate here...
**edit**
oh and fyi i can provide teh files if needed theres nothing copywrighted or proprietary, if you think you could help i would be more than willing to present them. thanks in advance for any help.

Original BT dll's download ?

Problem solved !
Please remove
That's a lot of files, dude. Perhaps you can:
a. be more specific - which file did you delete (or: which do you have left), so the needed file can be identified;
b. make a full backup, hard reset the device and restore the backup, should work.
Cheers.

[Q] IMEI lost!!!! please help....

My imei no got lost while restoring backup using cwm..... i looked around the forum and the ".nv_data" method will not do because my efs folder has a file named "essiv" only and nothing else.....
if someone would confirm what files are contained in thier efs folder and mail it to me also i'll be grateful......
I don't think the 'efs folder' of one device can be used with other devices as it contains the device's IMEI number.
Could you elaborate a bit as to what did you do that resulted in the loss of your IMEI number ? It would help others avoid it in future.
Well.... i restored the same backup file couple of times 'coz i was trying to flash a new theme...btw i am on stock indian 2.3.5......
the files in efs folder can be edited using hex editor (read somewhere in the s2 forum...i don't remeber which thread) so the imei no. in that file can be modified...

Allwinner A10/A13 device firmware backup script/tool

Hello All, this is my first post in Xda-forum, I love they way u all interact and help each other out here...well u see I hav a Allwinner A10 based tablet called Ice Xtreme which is very cheap in India do a google search on this tablet. well the company did not provide any software and I had corrupted mine while trying to use a custom recovery which was not from a allwinner a10 based tab. Anyways after alot of fuss I got it fixed but still they did not provide me with the livesuit image. I looked for ways to backing up my current working firmware from my tablet but found none. So after alot of searching I found this Script at a forum which can dump the recovery, the bootloader, boot partitions and system and data folder. But throughout my experience with this Livesuit firmware things I see that the drivers inside the vendor folder are also important as no two tablets have same chips (some thing will be different) so I modified the script and build it into a script that takes most of the directories (excluding mount,as it has only ur SD n extSD data) The dump thus created may help in modifying another image to suit ur needs.
I have only been able to backup directories and boot, recovery, bootloader partition thanks to the original script. I have no Idea how to send/restore these files to the device after flashing another rom to restore most of the things. Any help would be a boon. Thank u all for ur indirect help in bringing out the geek in me.
Try it!! & post feedbacks and suggestions...
This helps to backup the rom files with only adb. Just start the batch file & relax while ur ROM is being dumped.n it will also keep a copy on ur SDcard too.
Just use
#adb backup
for back up and
#adb restore
for restoring
# command...
But will it be possible to extract different files???!!
Hey, suppose I wanna flash a custom ROM which doesnt hav all of my boards drivers in it. So if I backup using adb can I thn restore driver files from the stock ROM backup to the new Custom ROM...
how to write backup ???
extension *.tgz??/
need expalain for restore backup..
thx..

[Q] google translate can't read offline backages ..

Hello, guys ... greetings from Egypt
After formatting my rooted galaxy mini II, why couldn't I re-use my already downloaded offline packages "German,French and Arabic" for google translate app?
Before formatting, I copied the folder "com.google.android.apps.translate" from data folder to my computer hard disk, then after formatting I installed google translate app and put the folder "com.google.android.apps.translate" back in place ...
Unfortunately, google translate can't read any packages which are present in the data folder and starts to download them from the beginning ..
Any help with that ?!!
Thanks in advance ..
