[q] help with cm and aosp keyboard - General Questions and Answers

So I recently installed CM and I forgot to also install GApps. I tried downloading those and flashing them onto my phone via Clockwork recovery and suddenly I got a message saying that the Android Keyboard has stopped working. Now I want to go back to the stock rom, and possibly try CM again some other time I read that you can do this with several steps involving Odin, except I use a Mac (Odin is only Windows), and I'm sort of a noob at these things, so any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

[Q] Boot-loop on failed CM install, please help!

Hi friends,
So I was running CyanogenMod 10.1.3 on my S3 and decided to update to the CM 10.2 snapshot that was available for download through the settings page. After messing around with it a bit, I decided I didn't like it and re-installed 10.1.3 through the same page. When it came back up, the CyanogenMod logo just kept turning and turning. I tried to re-install the CM 10.1 .zip file I had on the phone, but Clockworkmod couldn't find it. I also tried to restore to a backup, but again, CWM couldn't find any.
As I see it, all I need to do is get a new CM .zip onto the phone that I can flash from recovery. I downloaded adb for this purpose, but can't get it to open on my computer (Windows 7 x64). So, can anyone tell me another way to get the .zip onto the phone?
I greatly appreciate any help.

Hey it sounds like you have a couple issues there, not sure where to start. One thing I can help with is getting adb on the Win7 PC. What you need to do is download the Android SDK at http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html. Once the Android SDK is on your machine then use that to get the Android Platform-tools. ADB.exe is part of the platform tools. I hope that helps.
did you save the CM .zip file to your phone's internal storage or an SD card? if internal, it may have been erased when you flashed back to CM 10.1. if you put it on your SD card, try reinstalling the SD card and reboot. i've had issues with my S3 where the SD card would come unseated when i put the back cover back on.
also, did you do a wipe when you reinstalled CM? sometimes that helps get you out of bootloop (but it erases all of your data, so hopefully you did a backup).

I've had bootloop problems with cm after trying to downgrade from cm10.2. Wiping data, cache, etc didnt help, it still boot looped for me. A TWRP backup was the only thing that saved me. I have used this to get out of a soft brick before, maybe try that as a last resort? Good luck, and i recommend using twrp recovery instead of cwm, it has given me problems before. Good luck!

[Q] How do I restore Soft bricked SCH1535 from CM unofficial 4.4.2

I rooted my SCH 1535 and installed CM Version 11-20140215-UNOFFICIAL-d2vzw. Android 4.4.2 (Baseband: l535VRBLMD3) (Kernel:3.4.80-cm
It was working OK except in order to see my WiFi I had to reboot every time WiFi was turned off.
Plus I was having trouble updating ROMs with ROM Manager.
I had both TWRP & CM installed, although the phone defaulted to TWRP in recovery.
I downloaded seveeral CM ROMs via the CM updater in Settings > About Phone & wasn't able to flash.
So, I (stupidly) WIPED with TWRP
Now, I still have the CM KitKat ROM on my phone but when I try Play Store it starts & immediately closes.
Android Keyboard stops as soon as I boot up, so i can't log even into my Google account.
I'm pretty sure I'm no longer rooted & there's no recovery - in fact the Return, Menu & Volume buttons don't seem to work.
Most of my apps are gone except for Google & Samsung, but I can't log in.
I did do a nandroid backup & have Internal & Card backups on my PC as well as Odin.
So, my question is Should I try to restore to stock and start over? (What's the best way to do that from my build?)
or do I go for a KItKat ROM? (any suggestions?)
I want to make sure I have the proper recovery, bootloader (SuperSU_Bootloader_FIXED.zip ?)
I am wide open to suggestions on the best way to proceed. I'm really hesitant to try the Factory Data Reset - since I've heard that can brick a phone completely.
Thanks!

[Q] Stuck in twrp - please help

Hello Everyone,
I did some foolish things to my TF300 and I'm hoping somebody can help me out.
I unlocked it and installed CM10 and life was good ! then I upgraded to CM11, and finally CM12.
I had a lot of problems with CM12, most of which revolved around constant messages that various google apps stopped working (Play, calendar, gmail, etc).
So, I decided to roll back to CM11 and that's when the problems started. I ended up formatting and wiping and doing all kinds of things that I can't remember (yup, foolish).
So now I can boot into twrp 2.8xxx but there are no .zip files visible to install. If I reboot w/o going to twrp Android starts to load (I guess it's CM12) but I can't even select the language because of constant messages about google apps that stopped. I downloaded CM10 and gaaps 4.2 to my computer, and then to a flash drive. I have a tablet keyboard so I booted to twrp with the keyboard attached and hoped to install from the flash drive, but it doesn't seem to be recognized.
So, any suggestions as to what I should do to get my tablet working ?
Thanks for any help !!

[Q] OPO Softbrick! How to solve (get back to stock)?

I've got problems updating my OPO CM updating and after searching for a solve I've found this Thread
forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/89400-ota-update-failing-to-install-seeing-status-7-errors-while-applying-an-update-read/
So I followed the steps
I've installed the newest TWRP and made a backup
After deciding to flash OxygenOS ('cause I wanted to try that one out) I downloaded it from oneplus.net
I flashed the OxygenOS and got a softbrick
(I did not wipe)
I can boot normally, but I will get a black screen (after the boot animation) overlaying some sort of form I should fill out, but I can´t interact with it
I can also see the status, showing me my battery status and time
I can also boot into fastboot, but am troubeling booting into recovery to restore that backup
My PC (win 7) detects that I'm plugging in my phone, but I'm not able to access the files
I have the "cm-12.1-20150505-NIGHTLY-bacon" on the phone (same dir as the oxygenOS)
As TWRP I used "twrp-2.8.6.0-bacon"
So how can I fix this?
How can I restore that backup file?
I've searched for an solution, but did not find anything which seemed to fit my case or asured me that it´ll work for me
Could that solve my problem?
forums.oneplus.net/threads/has-anyone-tried-downgrading-from-oxygen-os-to-cm11s.290671/#post-10672763
Also I don´t want to use this tool, ´cause I read a lot of thread telling me that flashing from OxygenOS to CM back will cause a hardbrick
It also won´t detect my phone ...
forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tool-oneplusrecovery-tool-v1-0-restore-t2991851
Thanks in advance!
Flash the stock images using fastboot, see section 8 of my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
It's safe as long as you don't perform any reboots between any of the commands.

Thanks a lot! But got another question ...
Thanks! I was able to flash to an working CM ^^
saved my Day
Now I´ve got the CM version "12.0-YNG1TAS0YL"
CM says that there is an update ("YNG1TAS17L") and downloads it
After hitting the "install" button I see a little loading Animation with the name of the new vesion, but nothing happens
The loading Animation goes away, but the phone does not reboot
I the rebooted it, but still got the old version (and the notification about updating)
It´s like the problem which made me decide to flash to an update (but then I decided to use OxygenOS ... not again ...)
Any ideas of solving this problem?
Or shall I just download the newest CM version for Bacon and flash it?
