Q: Who all helped you in the process of you making the rom and getting it to it's current state?
A: First I'd like to thank the community for all the support I was given along the way. And I'd also like to thank the following people:
Code:
kevin, JAguirre1231, brainmaster, Koush., robocik, maxisma, lpy, Rang3r, mike1986., badams1, Revolution, sduvick, ayoteddy, SunPengfei, Jikantaru, darkky, Shadewalkerz, beray5, Google, HTC
Q: What are some of the current issues (things that need fixing) in the rom?
A: These are the issues that I've noticed while testing both rom versions and wrote down as my "notes":
Code:
[B]Major:[/B]
- Any app put in /data/app directory of the rom's .zip file will not install correctly b/c it'll "corrupt" itself on boot resulting in a "PARSE ERROR"
- Find out why start up scripts located in /system/etc/init.d/ are not running on boot or not setting the values like I want them to
[B]Minor:[/B]
- Can not change camera icon to htc camera icon without causing camera app to fc
- Add widget > calendar icon to be like calendar icon for htc
- Shutdown/Popup menu text color is white and not black
- See if changing number images to be like sense for phone's dialpad
- Noti. Bar icon switchers & contact icon
- USB connected android in background is behind the text and it looks bad
- Grey > Green lock pattern drag streak
- Blue > White font in settings menu
- App drawer home button in landscape mode is still presenting itself in portrait mode for the LP Version
Q: May we see some screen shots?
A: Off course you may....(Both Versions Have The Same LockScreen)

this thread is relevant to my needs
You all may not understand my notes but these are the things I'm planning on getting done before I release it:
- button boxes on certain pop out mens
- volume bar green is ugly
- blue font in settings
- led icon (red/green/yellow)
- phone icon
- app drawer (home button replacement dock)
- 4g icon in noti. bar
- grey lock pattern streak instead of green needs to be green
- default wallpaper to be live or sense rainbow
- notification bar (people icon) and setting switchers
- contacts icon
- web icon
- menu text to black instead of white on some pop out menus
- some apps need to be installed via data partition
- re-do phone icon
- maybe try to get sense dial pad
- volume up and down is blue for ring volume on home screen
- update su/busybox
- network icons in notibar
- transparent drop down notification box in background if possible
- black grey bar on drop down notification bar at bottom of screen
- get init.d scripts to run and set the values i'd like them too (see if its a kernel problem or rom problem or script problem)
- change some of the apps default settings to be how i'd like them to be on boot
- finish the majority of these things by christmas
it's 1am and i plan on being awake til 3am to work on some things b/c i want this as much as you all lol
Good luck. Sound great.

Not that I can't finish the changes that need to be made but it seems that the family would like me to spend more time with them right now rather than with the constant time I've been spending with my phone working on this. I'm hoping to be able to finish this tonight or tomorrow when I won't need to "spend as much time with the family as possible".
MERRY XMAS ALL!

This is a small update on things. Most of these shouldn't take TOO long to fix but again as I said earlier i'm spending most of my time with the family today. (Most of the family is pre-occupied with toys and such at the moment).
EDIT 3:54 -6:00 GMT:
Major:
- Any app put in /data/app will not install correctly b/c it'll "corrupt" itself resulting in a "PARSE ERROR"
- Find out why start up scripts located in /system/etc/init.d/ are not running
- sense-like App drawer home button in landscape mode is still presenting itself in portrait mode
Minor:
- Phone icon in app drawer
- Can not change camera icon without causing camera app to fc
- Add widget > calendar icon
- Shutdown/Popup menu text color is white and not black
- See if changing number images to be like sense for phone's dialpad
- Noti. Bar icon switchers & contact icon
- Grey > Green lock pattern drag streak
- Blue > White font in settings menu
- Change put default lp wallpapers back in app
- volume up/down on home menu is still blue
(almost finished )
I might release the rom with a few of the minor errors on the list after I get rid of the major problems along with a few of the minor problems that annoy me a bit. This might be a good little "present" to give you all later tonight if I can do those things in time....hehehe
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday today

Well......the EXACT htc camera or a even if an attempt @ theming our camera.apk would not be possible bc the app would either fc or not install and the htc camera relies on its dependencies from the htc framework.
Now I'm currently trying differnet versions of miui camera and seeing if I can get one to install w/o parse error. I really like the miui camera just bc its picture quality is much better

This app allows you to create shortcuts for any system setting on your device.
Basic actions are also available to toggle a few things. These basic actions currently include:
Toggle Quiet Hours
Toggle Rotation Lock
Toggle Unlimited Screen Timeout
Toggle Active Display
Advanced users!
Change any checkbox preference, list preference, or color preference for your ROM that has a system setting link.
For example:
https://github.com/AOKP/frameworks_base/blob/kitkat/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java
https://github.com/omnirom/android_...-4.4/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...10.2/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java
https://github.com/ParanoidAndroid/...jb43/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java
Here lie some settings projects with values you can use if you're running these respective ROMs.
The "Advanced Shortcut" will ask for a few inputs. For example:
"quiet_hours_haptic" > checkbox ? Yes.
And each click will cycle the setting on/off.
Or, you can input "quiet_hours_haptic" > checkbox ? No > 1
To turn the setting ON no matter what state it's in.
Currently, SECURE settings are unsupported for KitKat
Only SYSTEM settings will be accepted.
SECURE settings can be modified if you have root access on Android 4.3 and lower.
Special thanks to Stericson for his RootTools library:

===1.2===
-Check Developer Options before Advanced Shortcuts

Practically. Minus Secure Settings (KitKat).
Plus aokp's settings table integration.
The additional toggles are rewritten as well to use publicly documented APIs and, again, integrate with AOKP's settings table.
So...slightly less powerful than the Chamber.
Even more so once the chamber integrates with the custom tiles to create settings resolvers.
Thanks.
Cool, I have a new toy. Thank you J.
doesn't seem to work with MOAR 8.0 rom, can't find the program shortcut in apps drawer. it does show up in settings>app manager though.
i really got excited when i found this in play store! purchased, but clicked refund when it didn't show in app drawer.

If you long-press the home screen in most launchers you can access shortcuts. Some launchers require you to open the "widgets" tab. But you'll find it in one of those places...
It doesn't have an app-drawer shortcut since there's no need to launch an app activity with it =]
Help
I'm a newbie. So I can't use the tool
Please can someone help me to toggle cell broadcast receiver on/off on aosp message com.android.mms?
Jubakuba, could you please confirm that with this app, under the "advanced shortcut" option, you can:
- select a preference listed in the setting.java file (and those preferences are all the preferences also present in the "settings" app)
- create a number of shortcuts for the selected preferences to toggle or values to cycle through (i.e. I want brightness to be either 10 or 20 or 100)
If this is correct I bet this app could be the base for a killer application in android as Tasker is...provided that you give more examples and give the set (may be in the four settings.java files you mention) of the preferences we're entitled to use.
Cutting a long story short: between you and the success there is...a clear tutorial. And I'm looking forward to reading it !!!
I suspect I've not been direct enough in my previous post, let me re-phrase it:
I'm not finding on my phone (xperia m 4.1.2 rooted) the file settings.java: can I still use the "advanced option" in the app ? Which is the actual name of the file I need to search instead of settings.java ? Any suggestion about how to decompile it ?

Sorry for the slow response, this thread is on my backburner apparently and have completely forgotten about it.
Anyway, yes. That can be done.
Your rom is from an OEM, so it isn't open-source...
But you can surely use the values in AOSP, or find the ones being used by your phone via a settings.db viewer.
data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/ on you phones file system will have settings.db files...
Not sure what you'd use to look...but RootExplorer, for example, has a basic viewer.
Finding the values, examples, etc...however...isn't something I can do for you.
This is a very advanced app for the advanced shortcut users...and you really just have to know what you're doing, or figure it out.
For your example (just found a settings.java file for Slim, but this is an AOSP key and I highly doubt your phone's OEM has changed the AOSP keys for existing settings).
https://github.com/SlimRoms/frameworks_base/blob/kk4.4/core/java/android/provider/Settings.java
Code:
/**
* The screen backlight brightness between 0 and 255.
*/
public static final String SCREEN_BRIGHTNESS = "screen_brightness";
So if you wanted a toggle between 0/50/100% brightness...
Advanced Shortcut > screen_brightness > not a checkbox > 0,128,255
255 isn't divisible by 2, and int values (the values being used here) don't accept decimals.
So round up to 128.
Very useful solution for toggling Quiet Hours
This app is fantastic. It is the only solution I've found for toggling Quiet Hours using Tasker (and AutoShortcut). I look forward to finding more uses. Thank you for this.
In my case, I use the "Advanced Shortcut" option and use QUIET_HOURS_FORCED as the settings string. This can be set to either 1 or 0 and will enforce quiet hours no matter what the time settings are. Works great. I'm on a nightly build of CM11.
Hellow how can i find shortcuts for stock andorid? i want the shortcut (turn off all sounds) witch is found in accessibility > hearing
Still available ?
Hi !
This is exactely what i need but i d'ont find the application in Play Store and the download version available here is a zip file instead of apk. How can i install it on my phone plz ?
thx.
Wondering if anyone has a flashable mod to accomplish this ? I see it's available for the Nexus 6, but not the LG G3:

Let me know... Thanks !

This is actually a built in feature, you enable it that way.

i have seen a custom rom in a folder of my fav. dev. Tkkg1994 at android file host i dont know why he is not publishing it ... this rom is uploaded at 26 december but waiting for the dev to confirm us for installation thanks.
If you guys really want roms I would say get to learning to do it yourself as that is your best bet. Even though this device will be available around the world many devs do not like working on Huawei devices short of the Nexus line. Even the honor 8 didnt really see much for development even though there is a partnership with XDA. It didnt help. Yes there are a few but not nearly as many as there would be if people stopped waiting on other people to do things for them and stepped up themselves.

I wish to develop but I don't have the basis to do it. I hate to wait for someone else.
Not happening most likely. Especially with the new way to update/install Roms. Has Huawei ever released sources/files needed to do custom Roms.
I do miss the stock ROM for mate 8.
Custom Roms are not what they used to be. After going back and forth between Nexus up and mate 8 for the last year plus.

I assume that any custom rom would just be flashed in TWRP, though, so it wouldn't matter much.
before they can cook custom roms they must have to solve the partial root problem first,if not it will be just hopes and dreams.

Partial Root Problem?
I just saw the US release for this phone and was considering it to replace my Nexus6 (o.g.) since so far, nothing out there comes close to my N6. Of course I came on XDA first before ordering to check out the ROM and mod support for the phone since that is another "Must have" for whatever phone I get to replace my N6.
Doesn't seem to be too much activity in here, possibly because I thought the phone was only available for international sale until now? But if you are mentioning some sort of ROOT problem, then perhaps I'm going to have to keep on with my N6 until someone releases a comparable phone.
Based on what I have seen on XDA for Mate 8, I don't expect many custom roms. Maybe a few more than the Mate 8 depending on interest. For now I would be happy with root and Xposed (not yet ready for Nougat as I understand).

Maybe someone can make a new thread with this and port it and translate it to English .:fingers-crossed:
Hope to see a ROM besides the preinstalled one for this beastly phone.
KangVIP ROM is out for the Mate 9. If I do get the phone I'll be doing a stock based rom but I'm not sure if I wanna drop $600 right now. You need a Baidu cloud account to download the rom.

Everything listed is all i need.
very nice to see custom roms out there. this is my first huawei some one can guide me how to flash custom roms
For those of you who have not really dug into what you can do with Nova Launcher gestures, you are in for some fun!
The origin of my looking into it was the lack of the Battery meter that we all know exists in Android. In another thread a user pointed out that you can map a Nova Launcher gesture to expose that screen. With that, I have been tinkering for a while now seeing what else can be done. So far, I found a few useful things, but I am sure, you will find more ! One thing worth noting, THIS DEVICES MENU SYSTEM FRUSTRATES ME as many times a message will pop up saying " you need to "do something" because of "something " and when you click the message, it deep links you into the Nex's menu. In many cases that screen it exposes is like a " Huh, well dam, this screen has useful functionality, I need to access this in the future" moment. The next though is, well how do I get back to this menu again? Easy, hit the little "<" at the top of the screen to have it step back through where it is in the menu tree - WRONG! It always just takes you back to your home screen - DAM ! Well, with Nova Launcher gestures maping to activities, you can find many of these "hidden or buried" menus in the Nex.
So here goes - Note that YOU MUST have Nova launcher installed and setup to be your main launcher.
1. Open Nova Launcher
2. Tap on Gestures
3. Pick a gesture you wish to map (for testing, use pinch in - as you may have already used the good ones up - like doubletap )
4. From the next Nova Launcher menu, tap on "Shortcuts" at the top of the screen"
5. When you tap on "Shortcuts" you will now see a list of items you can map to. Select "ACTIVITIES"
6. Scroll through the list util you find something interesting > tap the item to now map to that gesture
7. Now - test your gesture !!
HERE ARE SOME VERY INTERESTING ACTIVITIES AND SECTIONS I HAVE FOUND - I have not tried these all yet (unless indicated)
- Assistant > Assistant - this is the google assistant (assuming you have it installed). Its nice to be able to call it from a gesture as we do not have a "long press" option when we are using the Nex's gesture navigation
- Battery > Power Consumption ranking
- Factory Test > any one of these, lots of cool menus and tests, including test for the pop up camera!
- FuntouchOS Launcher > There are a few here that look interesting like
- Settings > HAVE FUN HERE - lots to see!!! More comments about this below.
- Smart Click > Smart Click > .Main Activity - WOW, why cant I find this menu in the normal settings ??? This lets you map the volume down key when the screen is off to pretty much anything !! I set mine to call google assistant. It wont call it when the screen is off, but when you unlock, the assistant will be waiting there for you!
- Smart Launcher - a number of interesting things here - Have fun !
- System UI - This looks to have a lot of fun stuff, like " Marshmallow land " - ???, " Screensaver", "Sweets Box"
- VoLTEconfig > VoLTEconfig> .console.VoConsoleActivity - This brings up an entire VoLTE config menu.
-Vtouch > a few interesting things here
- Wisdom Engine > a few interesting things here (This stupid thing ends up shutting down all the mods we do ! - Maybe some clues within the 5 mappable sections here - any takers?"
----------------------------------------------------
OK SO NOW - "- Settings > " Here are a few I tested - There are over 200 settings here for you to test!
Settings>Battery>.fuelgauge.PowerUsageSummary - This brings up the hidden android battery screen that lets you see OST and battery stats
Settings> Launch Camera Quickly - This brings up a menu that lets you launch the camera by pressing the power button 2 times !
Settings > Night Mode - This brings up a night mode menu with a scheduler - Very cool!
Settings > Smart Button
--------------------------
So that's it for now. Normally I would say " no magic here" but with funtouch launcher being more like "dumbtouch launcher", there could be some worthwhile discoveries here. Please post any great finds !
