I'm trying to use the Kitchen to do a few mods to my Unity rom, but I'm not sure how to upload the required files to be able to flash them. I don't see a how to anywhere on this. Is it that simple and I'm an idiot or is it as confusing as I'm making it.
On the kitchen page there is a link for support which will tell you how to install the mods.
The how to doesn't show how to upload the files from your rom so you can flash the zip and make sure it works. I can do everything except for uploading the framework and system files.

You need an app like root explorer or file expert. You have to navigate to your root directory.
In file expert download from market... it's a free app...give root permissions and then make root directory your home... so when you hit the home button it will automatically go to your root folders directory.
There you will find \system\framework and \system\app .
That's where you'll find the files you need.
Copy them to your desktop (easiest way is to copy to sdcard then connect to pc and transfer them to desktop) and then in the kitchen when you get to upload files... point the kitchen to those files.

If i added mods that included new font and I want to change it later, is that all I'll need create a mod for or will I need to create a whole new one. Will it just flash over the old font?
If all you want to change is the font then you have to upload your modded files to the kitchen. That or download font switcher/custom android font changer from the market.

Hi!! this seems to be a good choice for my x10....
Do I hace to install it as a custom rom?? from xrecovery?? I'm with Unlock Booloader so I suppose I need the stock kernel.... Sorry for my english, Still learning it
Using:
v7 X10S rom
DoomKernel
aiit guys, this is a file i compiled from the needed stuff from the rom in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671574
Should work on CM7 roms. Problem is its not a signed zip (bcs idk how to), so you guys have to copy paste and change permissions yourselves.
another thing is that you need to cross check your build.prop with the one inside. There are a few lines that need to be copied... im not sure what yours is missing so Crosscheck and try to change most stuff to sony.
If you are using linux (ubuntu/fedora) (well with nautilus) just download SSHDroid from the market. turn it on and crtl+L in nautilus type in the link (eg.sftp://[email protected]) then it will ask for password which by default is "admin"
after that you can basically copy your files into the system folder.
(you can also select the files choose properties and under permissions tab edit your perms. ) good luck! enjoy your working gallery
everything works and not work like in the thread i linked above
Download

You should use logcat to see which lib is required for each app.

Bravia Engine is a little mod that will improve your graphic's and video's qualities.
More info here
The screen patch is a fix for people who have issues with the Tipo (Dual) touch screen.
Some people have the issue that their touch-screen is not functioning correctly, usually they describe their problems as: "My touchscreen is laggy/lagging". This screen patch will re-calibrate your touchscreen and fix the issues.
Some tests around with and without bravia engine? I tested it on a GT540 some time ago, there was no difference between images.
Bravia engine only work in sony's device since it need support from the rom made by sony. That's why it doesn't work on another device. I never got any report that it work on another rom like cm neither. Even if it cm in sony. Anyway, this bravia engine port in this thread is incomplete. You'll need a framework file, a xml file, and a lib file for complete working bravia engine. The two lines in build.prop is needed to show bravia option in setting. However, the bravia engine won't work until you have all the rquirement. This is the reason why most people can't spot the differences after using this bravia mod
Where do we find this lib and xml file?
I suspected that soemthing was missing
Enviado de meu MZ616 usando o Tapatalk 2
I have it...but I can't upload it due to my slow internet connection at this moment. Ill tell you later when I managed upload it
Here is the complete file as I promised. The movie effect only work if you use movie player in my thread about clearbass mod. The photo's differences isn't as clear as you can see in another device with lcd screen but the if you compare the filesize, you'll know that the mod is working
Slight difference noticed in tipo ..thanx

should i install bravia on tipo? and if yes , why? it is worth though?
also can u add some pictures , so we can notice the difference if any?
I will try to make some screenshots of that soon.
Now, Bravia Engine doesn't make a REAL big difference on Tipo, but you will see a bit improvement.
As far as I know it isn't really hard, and neither really risky, so I guess you could just install.
EDIT: updated the steps with Kuro's files.
Should i have to install both blindshooter's and kuro's file?
What instruction to follow to install kuro's files?

Have you got a file-manager that supports root?
Practically it's like this:
./ folder = the main folder,
in this main folder there is folders like "system", which is the system partition, "data" which is your phone data partition, "sdcard" which is internal memory/the 2GB space think where u usually put ur files and sometimes apps, "ext_card" which is the external sdcard you inserted. And many more folders. But you need a root File-Manager to see those folders usually.
The build.prop file is also in the system folder...
I'll add a screenshot of my Root Explorer being in the main folder.

Hi I'm making a rom but I dont know how to preset a application on the home scream.
So when somone flashes the rom and starts up for the first time theyll see the application shortcuts on the launcher.
How do I do this ?
Thanks,
I think the simpliest way is to make the home screen the way you want and then just copy data of your launcher (for example /data/data/your.launcher or system/data/your.launcher) and include it in rom package. And you probably have to edit the updater script so the data/ (or system/data) folder will be copied
(Sorry for my English)
Sent from my GT-S6102 using xda app-developers app
I'm trying to edit the current launcher it's a xperia z launcher the when the rom boots on the phone for the first time there is nothing on the homescreen. So I'm working of that launcher.
Although I'm a newbie to the new rom making I cannot find the /data file in the rom ?
1. Flash the rom you are working on to your device. Drag apps you want onto the home screen.
2. Then open a root browser and go to data/data and you should find a folder of that launcher. They are named like com.devname.appname.
3. And then you will be able to put it to your rom's .zip package. Oh and you'll have to edit your rom's updater-script so the data folder will be copied during flashing. (there are guides at xda about editing updater-script)
Well, i'm not very good at rom development myself. And i'm not good at explaining Hope it helps and you will be able to make your rom!

Wondering if anybody around here has some experience on using SVADeodexerForArt?
Trying to deodex D6603_Customized US_1288-7827_23.4.A.1.232_R6C and from what I gathered this is the tool to use, but been bouncing from thread to thread trying to understand how to make use of it and the more I read the more confusing it has become and I'm still at square one...
Anybody willing to shade to light and give direction on how to proceed?
Thanks
-Deodex-
Ok, so after a few days of reading I figured how to deodex my rom, took the long way since I didn't have the rom on my phone, just started from the xperifirm file...
Want to give a big THANKS @serajr for answering my questions and letting me use his zip to add my files for flashing!
This deodex zip is only for the D6603_Customized US_1288-7827_23.4.A.1.232_R6C firmware with root and recovery so be sure you're on that exact firmware before flashing!
-BACK UP before you even think of flashing this-
there is no debloat in the zip , you'll end up with a full stock D6603_Customized US_1288-7827_23.4.A.1.232_R6C deodexed, rooted and dualrecovery firmware
just flash the zip through recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and then boot...
get the deodex zip to flash here

First make sure that you have the firmware you want to deodex, rooted with recovery and installed on your phone already so in your case D6653 firmware 23.4.A.1.232 Customized IN , if not then create a prerooted zip with that ftf file, SuperSu and latest dual recovery with PRFcreator then flash it and boot....Once that exact firmware is on your phone, you can follow those steps below to create a deodex zip.
Here is the process:
-download the zip that I provided in this thread (you'll need it later to swap my files with yours)
-open the ftf with 7-Zip to copy the system.sin file
-then use Flashtool Sin Editor to extract data to get System.ext4
-from there, use ext2explore (download it here) to open the system.ext4
-Once you opened system.ext4, locate those 3 folders (app, framework and priv-app) and build.prop
-create a folder called deodex on your C drive (so C:\deodex) and copy those 3 folders mentioned above and the build.prop file to it
-then move SemcGenericUxpRes folder from framework folder to app folder and take the 2 containing folders from vendor\app and move them to the app folder as well
- then run SVADeoderForArt.exe and selected the path to C:\deodex folder, check deodexing framework, app and private-app, let the tool run (it should tell you if it ran without errors when done)
-now you should have app, dex, framework, odex and priv-app folders (inside the SVADeodexerforart folder) after the tools finished the deodexing process (you can delete the dex and odex as they're not needed anymore)...now move SemcGenericUxpRes folder back to framework folder...also move back the 2 folders that you took from vendor\app, just put them anywhere on your desktop you're going to need them in a minute
-now when you open the deodex zip that you first downloaded, go into the system folder and you'll see 4 folders, app, framework, priv-app and vendor....delete the 3 folders app (but before, move the supersu folder from my app folder to your app folder, otherwise you'll end up without supersu) , framework and priv-app folders and move your 3 corresponding folders in there...now open vendor\app and delete the 2 folders and put yours instead
-your deodex zip should be good to flash now, put it on your sdcard...reboot to recovery, choose your zip to flash , then clear cache and dalvik cache and then boot....now you should have a full stock deodexed D6653 firmware 23.4.A.1.232 Customized IN (if you want to debloat, remove what you don't want from the app and private app folder in the zip before flashing, but you're on your own for that)
And as always make a backup before you start all this
Also, you should thank @serajr, as he's the one that wrote the script to clean and replace the system odexed folders, he nicely let me use it as a base to make my changes
