[Q] Moto G Wifi Signal - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
new user here but long time lurker
I have a question about the WIFI antenna on the Moto G. Does it get a good signal far from the router or with walls in between? My house has three floors and my router is in the first one. Even on the second one I have problems connecting with my Sony X10 Mini running MiniCM7. My brother with an LG Optimus L3 can connect from anywhere in the house for example. Is the Moto G WIFI better or on par with the L3?
Thanks a lot.

I don't know about the L3, but for the phones that I've used in the past the G is not so good - not terrible neither, but not as good as an iPhone or Lumia Windows Phone

It's OK, however it depends which WiFi router You are using.

Moto G has the best WIFI and the best GPS, I ever had on any other phone, this includes S3, Note 2, Galaxy Nexus and N5.
Can't say this will be the same for you though.

If I remember correctly, most Wi-Fi antennas broadcast out in a (mostly) horizontal direction. That could account for not getting good signal on the 3rd floor.

You have to put the router on a cleanly position because router anthena are onmidirectional. In anothar way you have to put reapeater is the best option. You hev to search more information about wireless network.:fingers-crossed:

Oh, I have. But since the my brother's LG L3 is working just fine everywhere in the house and it's a very cheap phone I figured there's nothing wrong with my actual wireless network configuration

Nexus and 2 routers

Hello all, I have just installed a acess point on the third floor or my house to help out with signal strength (2 dlink dir-655's) my question is how do I get the nexus to switch between the two routers automatically without me going into the settings and manually changeing them should this happen on it's own or is there an app?
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus S
Connect to one, then connect to another. They should automatically connect when the other is stronger
The hand-off will not be seamless. It will never be..
So VoIP apps wont work while walking between AP's
Excellent! I did just that and have witnessed the switch. So it works.
Thanks

Can I use Moto G as repeater?

Hi Guys,
Before my Moto G I had this Moto XT 389 and I was able to use it as wi-fi repeater. So, here's my question: Can i use Moto G as a wi-fi repeater?
Hi. What is a wifi repeater, forgive my ignorance. If you explain it to me I can try it and let you know if it works.

I dont think even Motoluxe could be used as Wifi repeater. I havent seen phone with 2 way wifi
Do you mean wifi tethering? Yes, it has option of being an hotspot for the mobile Internet.
@enrique097, wifi repeater is a small device (u can even connect to wall) which extends the wifi signal. It takes the signal and passes further.

[Q] WiFi hotspot connect and disconnect

Hi all,
I noticed this issue recently whilst on holiday and whilst trying to avoid roaming charges I went all over looking for WiFi but couldn't actually use the majority of them, it would connect get an ip address then disconnect, signal was good, I have removed things like sky WiFi and my Vodafone (connects to BT hotspots.... Supposedly) but still nothing, come back to the UK and same thing happens in places like McDonald's, tesco, asda, local shopping centre etc. Home WiFi is fine, hence why I'm scratching my head a bit.
Moto g with latest stock us kk rooted
Any thought or troubleshooting tips are welcomed,
Cheers

Nexus 5 wifi problem

So i got my nexus 5 yesterday and i m satisfied so far but..Today i was in my class and the other students told me that there is wifi spot nearby that we could use.But my nexus 5 couldnt find it at all even when i moved near it. The android phones of the other people(galaxy s3 mini,lg g1 etc) could connect to it with 2 bars signal. Soo my question.. Why was nexus 5 the only phone that couldnt find the wifi spot?

Could be a few things that come to my mind.
1) Your phone was set to only connect to 5ghz wifi routers and this router was not 5ghz capable
2) Your phone was set to block open networks
Try adjusting these setting and see if it would work again

Moto G7 Power wifi problems..

Hello there!
I have moto g7 power for about 5 months. After 2-3 months I realized that wifi disconnects sometimes, sometimes just reconnects without reason, loading videos on youtube are pain (and not only on youtube!). I was listening music on youtube and I see that wifi disconnected and didnt show any networks so I had to restart the phone.
Do you have any solutions to resolve this "global" problem with this mobile? Does the root + custom rom resolve the issue? Phone is really cool but this wifi is pain.
Thanks!

Your 2.4ghz Wi-Fi gets interference, Change your AP Wi-Fi channel or use 5G Wi-Fi to resolve your problem.

I have 5 moto G7 power phones don't have any Wi-Fi problem.
Certainly, it is your problem not others problem.

I would send external link to one post on Lenovo support about this problem but I can't because of low rank. There are many people with same problems like me. Simply said, I tried everything I found that could help but nothing worked. So seems like its time to go for reclaim. The issue can be in logic board too. Well I will see.

I knew what you were talking, it was actually a known Bluetooth inference 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi problem, that was two protocols conflicts. Some phone software enabled coexistence mode, some phone doesn't.
When you use 5G Wi-Fi, there wouldn't have any problem, or turn on enabled "coexistence mode" on your Wi-Fi router ( ddwrt or openwrt based router) if you have to use 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi.

The interference comes from other routers running 2.4 using same channels. If your in a house, it shouldn't be a problem. In apartments, you might have to try different channels to avoid issues.

This Moto G7 Power has only 2.4 ghz wifi. I dont think that it can connect to the 5ghz wifi.
Do you think that using custom ROM such as lineageOS would fix this issue?

Yes, that is very disappointed without 5G Wi-Fi.
2.4Ghz wifi is just not much useable in high density area.
Or if you have access the Wi-Fi AP/router, change the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi frequency away Wi-Fi channel 6 ( best to use channel 1 or 13 ) , enable "Bluetooth coexistence mode", to avoid interference
