[Q] no HTML e-mail from XDA using the stock mail client? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just noticed this. For e-mails from XDA the e-mails are not html formatted (or don't show as such) so I can't click links etc. This is on the stock e-mail client. For other sites html is fine and XDA e-mails are in HTML format on all my other Android devices including a Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom and Asus Transformer TF700.

[Q] Best Email Client

My wife is looking for the best Email client for use on the TF. I use K9 but the interface is not very good on the tablet and she does not like it. Nor does she like the Asus one because emails are not stored for very long.
I was telling her to try Gmail but I never liked it because it seems very slow to receive new mail.
What is everyone using on the TF?
Seriously gmail is slow? Did you use it on the gmail app? Cause my phone tablet update before my gmail inbox on browser.. its about protocols. If you are using gmail in K9 via POP3 or imap and comparing it against your work exchange account it will seem slow.
Beyond this you could check the xda forums for the samsung galaxy s tab email app or give kaiten mail a try (available in amazon appstore).kaiten mail is k9's tablet optimized email app.

Thanks for the good suggestions.
Would like to stick with a free app if at all possible. Also, she doesn't have a need for communicating with an Exchange server.

Email

So since I updated to the leaked ICS, I setup the default email client to my yahoo business account. I must say I hate the change to it they have made. In honeycomb I was able to set it to delete emails from the server as I deleted them from my phone, also it would download all my old emails to my phone as well. Now I can't do either of those and it goes through that social hub crap thing. Anyone have a email app that will work like the old email app in honeycomb?
Thanks

Personally, I like the solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24243224&postcount=3
It creates a new default Email app with lovely exchange integration, and you can remove Social Center
I have not rooted the phone at all so I am pretty sure I can't use tibu.
use K9 mail. It allows you to specify how many emails to sync as well as server side actions.
Yep K9 mail does exactly what I am looking for.

[Q] faking imap client connection

I currently read email via imap from a government computer system. They are about to send a memo that Android devices are no longer allowed to connect with imap to these servers and will have to use a browser based email portal. Apparently Windows and Apple devices are OK, though.
My question to the general masses is this. Is it possible somewhere on my phone to set how the imap client presents itself and inject that this is, for example, an iPhone? Or would that have to be at the application level? I am currently using K9 mail and it works great.
I am running the Dark Knight ICS rom (version 3 - android 4.0.4) on a Samsung Captivate, btw.
Thanks and I hate the thought of using a browser to read emails!

Convert email to calendar event.

Coming from a Blackberry to an EVO 4g and for the past year an EVO 3d.
I used to assign emails to my Tasks or Calendar. The Software guys were Empower for Blackberry. The app was Email viewer pro.
Is there an app that allows that kind of integration between emails and the included Tasks and Calendar?
I have tried Touchdown and that does the job for MSExchange but does not support POP3 accounts.
This seems to be a big miss on the android system.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

A better email search?

I was trying to find an old email that I got a long time ago then I realized that every time when I try to search for an email and I forgot which email account the email was in, I will have to use my iPhone to find the email. I've been using maildroid and the search is completely useless. It doesn't do all inbox online search, and even if I do individual account online search, it still doesn't seem to work as well as the iPhone's email app. Is there an app on the play store that searches email as well as the iPhone's email app? It's very annoying to have to go back to my iPhone whenever I try to look for an old email.

Which email do you have? Gmail? Try to sync more then 3 days old mails (Settings -> Days of mail to sync).
Try to use Aqua Mail - email app, Or K-9 Mail app
I only have yahoo and gmail. I tried syncing more than 3 days old mail, but when I search emails, it just doesn't go far back enough. When I do a search, my iPhone could find all the way back to 2008, but on K9 or maildroid, it only does offline searches or online search for individual mailbox and offline searches couldn't go as far back as 2008.
