[ROM] [GUIDE] Lenovo S820, stock multilanguage rom - Miscellaneous Android Development

Since I didn't find much information in English about this phone, I'm posting this guide for this great device.
There are 3 versions of device:
CN - Chinese version (4 GB)
ROW - International (European?) version (4 GB)
ROW 8G - International (European?) version with 8 GB internal memory
If you bought it online from Chinese website (like I did - from to2c.com) then you for sure have "CN" version. If you have a device which came stock with ROW firmware, there is no need to flash new firmware because you are already on international version of the phone and you get the updates over-the-air.
Those phones that came from Chinese sites usually have rooted and multilanguage firmware, but basically it is slightly modified Chinese firmware with Chinese apps still included, Chinese GPS settings, OTA disabled (so you don't loose root and multilanguage ((MoreLocale2)) by OTA update) and old firmware. In this guide I'll post how to change the CN firmware to ROW but keeping the CN modem.img because it isn't compatible across different versions of device. Most of the information I've got from site lenovo-forums.ru.
Why doing this? To get...
latest version of non-Chinese firmware (v S120 ROW)
latest modem from Lenovo VIBE ROM (V52)
CWM recovery
root
GUIDE
Disclaimer: you are doing this at your own risk. Some knowledge and previous experience with flashing MTK devices is highly recommended. If you find something confusing in this guide, then you should probably first learn more about MTK flashing and Android phones in general (hint: google ).

- flash with SP Flash Tools using Download mode like shown bellow...
4. Flash S120 ROW update (CWM)
- get into recovery by pressing vol down + vol up + power.
- flash this incremental update (S119 -> S120), download: https://www.mediafire.com/?3e11hd2erutsz3k (source lenovo-forums.ru, modified by me because of asert errors in their file)
5. Root device
- enable usb debugging by opening developer menu: Settings -> About -> Versions -> pres 7 times on baseband version
- follow root guide from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247537
6. Change MODEM.IMG to V52 from VIBE ROM
- download this modem.img (V52 from VIBE ROM): https://www.mediafire.com/?au982otib7lkka4
- you flashed international version of firmware (ROW) but modem still have to be from the Chinese ROM to function properly - following guide from this LINK you can swap the MODEM.IMG from ROW version to Chinese (procedure for different phone but works analogously). In short: transfer modem.img to your sdcard, mount /etc/firmware as rw (read/write - you need root rights to do this), copy over existing modem.img, change permissions to 644, reboot phone (pull battery out)
Enjoy the international/EU version of Lenovo S820!

Try installing MoreLocale2 from Play Store... Those ROMs are not fully translated, you can achieve almost the same with MoreLocale on any other ROM.

Hi, I've just tried to flash a rom on my s820. All the procedure went fine (I thought) with a green circle on the screen at the end...
but after disconnecting it from PC, my phone doesn't boot anymore! No way to turn it on, also with powerbutton and vol+, it doesn't show anything on the screen, nor vibrate. Also connected with the charger will not show the charging led signal.
If I connect again to PC it is recognised differently in it has or not the battery, but with flashtools I can't download anything.
Do you have any idea of what I can do?
Thanks
Pago

I have also the same problem ! I tried flashing the 119 firm. but then when I try to flash the recovery it gives me an error about the DRAM ! Also phone can;t get past the Lanovo boot screen !
FIXED : Anyone who has the same issue here's the solution :
1) Flash JUST the 119 Firmware
2) Boot into the phone (it will take some time)
3) Connect to WiFi
4) Go to Settings and do an update to get the 120 Firmware through OTA
5) Follow the rest of the Guide !

First of all, thank you for your time and help!
I tried to keep the button pressed for a long time and to wait for a looooong boot, but nothing happens...
Sadly, I can't download the 119 firmware (or any other..) because as soon as I connect the USB, SP Flash Tool doesn't allow to download anything on the phone and windows start to make the "USB plug" and "USB unplug" sound loop repeated.
Do you have a different way to flash the firmware to the phone?
Bye

Ok here're the specific instructions I followed and I have it on 120 ROW + CWM Recovery now :
1) Power off thee phone
2) Follow the Guide on choosing the files
3) Press Firmare Upgrade button and wait for the pink bars to finish
4) Take off the battery
5) While pressing volume up connect the usb cable
6) When the red bar starts let go of volume button
7) Wait for flashing to finish
8) Boot into 119 Firmware
9) Get the 120 via OTA
10) Flash CWM as shown by Guide
If it doesn't wok then :
( Do NOT plug in the usb cable until the pink loading bars have finished and make sure to click ALL the options the tutorial points in the images !!!! ( Don't forget DA DL All with Checksum, preload.img )
a ) Make sure you have installed the MTK drivers for Windows !!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!
b ) Try with battery in !
c ) Try without pressing volume key !
It's weird but it may work with ANY of the above, I don't know why but it seems each phone requires a different combination of the above !!!

P.S. I used Framaroot to root it and it worked fine, got the latest SuperSU now on it and everything works perfect !!!

Tried almost everything.... no success!
Drivers are installed, I have downloaded the wrong preload on the phone with SP Flash with those driver.
When I plug in the USB in the peripheral list appear "Alcatel Single RNDIS Interface", and it suddenly disappears, and then it appears again with a yellow exlamation mark, then again disappears, and so on...
I tried all the possible combinations for enter the META mode (as I can remember it worked when I flashed the incorrect rom some days ago), but the correct device never appears!
I think I have to go with test point way, perhaps it works.
If even this does not, then I'll sadly quit the battle...
Thanks for your help!
Pago
NEVER SAY NEVER!!!!
After reading a LOT of posts... I tried to understand why the phone was recognized as "Alcatel Single RNDIS Interface", and then I tried to reinstall the drivers.
Drivers were already installed, BUT with the phone already connected, during the driver installation, for a while the correct driver was shown... and then disappeared again and there was only "Alcatel Single RNDIS Interface"... again!
So I tried, with SP Flash ready, to reinstall drivers once again, and in the correct moment, I did "software upgrade" and it WORKED!!!
Now I've already booted the phone and is working!
Thanks to all the guys that wrote so many interesting and helping posts and to the guys that answered me!
Hope this can help some other.
Bye

Lenovo S820_ROW
Android Version 4.2.1
Baseband S820.V21

My question is: How do I know if I already have the latest modem? How do I checked it?

Does the CWM File is for the ROW - International (European?) version 4 GB or 8 GB internal memory? Cause I heard the CWM file will be different.
Does the CWM file will be working on my S820_ROW_8G_S121?
Thank you

This doesn't work, even with the chinese modem, my phone has awfull 3G 2100MHz signal

Latest firmware !
Hi everyone ! I got the latest firmware on my phone ! Not many changes, just a few UI improvements and 1-2 performance improvements ! Also I got koush's superuser in there and latest CWM !!
All i did was :
1) flash the ROW version from the first post
2) get ALL other updates through OTA and NOT flash any CWM or SU !
3) And when I was on the 124 version I flashed the CWM recovery and through recovery I flashed koush's superuser ( much better on my opinion )
(optional)4) I used MTKDroid Tools 2.5.3 to backup my NVRAM and IMEI and delete ALL useless Chinese apps and Lenovo apps and change my locale to eu instead of cn ( Europe instead of Chinese )
I DID NOT REPLACE THE modem.img file and I am getting perfect signal ( Greece ) and perfect 3G speed !!!!!

[GUIDE] Flash/Upgrade Lenovo A369i with Stock Firmware - Lenovo A369i_ROW_S108_130929

Ever wonder how to do it?
You might have done something wrong... You might have tweak something bad... You might have deleted some files... You might have done that all accidentally...
Have NO FEAR... You can now START A NEW BEGINNING...
Disclaimer:
I will not be responsible however if you brick your phone. :fingers-crossed:
Here's how:
First, you need to download a stock firmware Lenovo A369i_ROW_S108_130929.
That RAR file will contain 3 folders - namely: Lenovo A369i_ driver file, Lenovo A369i_Software Upgrate Tool and Target_bin. Extract all of them in a convenient directory to work on.
The first thing we need to work on is the drivers for the phone. We will install it first before everything else. To install it, REMOVE BATTERY of phone.
Open Device Manager.
Expand Ports (COM & LPT)
Plug in USB cable. And quickly look for a device which has a name of Preloader that will be installing, but Windows could not find its driver.
For just... like 3 seconds from the moment you plug in USB cable to the phone, it will be gone. So, you need to be fast. Before it will be gone, right click it and click Update Driver. Choose manually install driver and point it to the directory folder Lenovo A369i_ driver file. Now, you will have MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port.
Next is the Software Upgrade Tool. Open the folder Lenovo A369i_Software Upgrate Tool and run Flash_tool.exe
Click File -> Open Scatter-loading File... -> browse to the folder Target_bin and click the file MT6572_Android_scatter.txt
Check the box DA DL All With Check..
Unplug USB cable.
Plug it again and after 1.5 sec (you need to be fast), click Download.
If you did it right it will start downloading files into phone. This will let us avoid future errors like error in partition in SDCARD. Wait for the GREEN CIRCLE to pop out.
14. After that, uncheck the box DA DL All With Check.
Unplug USB cable, then plug it again, for 1.5 sec click Firmware -> Upgrade button.
Wait for it, it will take time. Even if it shows 0% it is still working its magic. You just need to wait for the GREEN CIRCLE to pop out.
After that, unplug USB cable.
Put battery on.
Turn on phone.
Wait for it, and BOOM!!!
I am making this guide in case in the future I accidentally destroyed my phone and I forgot to fix it.

Yes this is official firmware
but you can get latest version here
http://lenovo369i.blogspot.in/2014/02/how-to-update.html?m=1
I flashed s110 and it's working really well,
there also a more official firmware of version s111 available, but don't go for s111 because after installing this s111 upgrade you can't install many custom rom
http://lenovo369i.blogspot.in/2014/06/new-firmware-for-lenovo-a369i.html?m=1
so download s110 and flash it using so flash tool, and follow the installation method as pankit explained in this post

So please don't install this Rom on your phone........
Is there any preloader USB driver available for windows 8?
After I upgraded my desktop to windows 8, I am unable to install USB driver for lenovo a369i. So if anyone knows of a working driver file for this device on windows 8 please suggest me the link.....
A369i wont bbot after flashing this rom.. HELP...!!!
I previously had my new lenovo a369i[bought in september 2014] stuck at boot logo due to installing CF3D which wasn compatible with it. Thn i tried to flash TWRP recovery through SP Flash tool which wasn successful as it always showed "PMT error" which i guess was due to different version of preloader as i figured it out that i need a different scatter file but cudn find any unfortunately. I believe my rom had build version like 's201'. Now i have a question, Does the preloader differ with every build..? As i have seen people successfully flashing other stock firmware but when i flashed the rom given in this thread, it was successful but my phone now even wont turn on.. Someone please help me by providing the backup file of preloader and scatter which i can flash to this phone . Or maybe provide me with idea of what should i do. I read on some forums that flashing through SP Tools a backup of the same model phone can unbrick it. But unfortunately no one i know owns this phone here. It wud be a great help if some provides scatter and preloader or possibly even a stock rom which will fix it.

Yeah s201 will not support many custom rom , this may cause bootloop go to this site and downgrade your system to s110 if you want to install custom rom http://lenovo369i.blogspot.in/2014/02/how-to-update.html?m=1
And if you want to stay with s201 then go to this
site

I think you should stay with s201
Because I think s110 will also create problem for you
So go for s201
I mentioned the link
And if you have problem with language then translate it with Google translate app
Don't forget to press thank button if this helped

Soft brick Cubot x6/MT6592 device

Hello everyone I have a few questions. First to say that I'm not new to android yet I don't think I'm very advanced. Anyway here is my situation: I have brand new chinese phone Cubot x6 which is with MT6592 chipset(or CPU I'm not sure). I rooted the device with Framaroot and everything was OK. Then I found CWM for the device on needrom(dot)com and when I flashed the recovery with "Flashify" it rebooteed but it is now stuck on the kernel logo. I can enter only in recovery which is still the stock one . I can't do anything except entering into the stock recovery. I have the stock ROM but it is NOT in a flashable .zip but in a folder which is used by some flashtool program (not the one for Sony but rather for MT devices) I have the stock boot.img, recovery.img and system.img. When I try to "apply update from sideload" and sideload either the boot or recovery images I get "installation aborted". If you guys can tell me how to enter fastboot mode and from there to flash system.img OR any other way to fix the phone please tell me.
P.S. The hardware buttons are only volume rockers and power button. I also tried to install MUIU but it can't flash it with stock recovery.
Please help me. I would be able to manage it somehow if I'm able to use adb, but I can't within the stock recovery.
hello dont problem use sp flashtool and flash rom stock

I'm following this, as I tried to do this before, I was apparently doing something wrong and I couldn't get to the part where the program would actually flash it and it never showed progress bars or even detected the phone, now finally my phone is recognized by the program and it's now stuck on the red progress bar, when I put my mouse over it says "Download DA Now..." ?? what is it?
Should I do something, I don't wanna stop it with fear it may brick completely...
7 mins has passed, do I leave it there? I just saw the red progress bar going up to 100% and stay there... Nothing more, purple, or yellow :crying:
Does it usually takes that much? Another thing is that I don't see the device (usb) showing up in the Device Manager... is something going on? the sp flash tool might have become stuck on it doing nothing, but like I said, I dont wanna stop it with fear it might be actually doing something, and then I break it :S

Alright, thanks for letting me know, i know what is causing to behave like that, the thing is that the usb is abruptly getting disconnected, so when it gets detected it starts working like a charm and it starts detecting the phone in the sp flash tool, etc etc but when its about to start really doing anything like flashing or anything concrete the usb simply disconnects and I dont even see it anymore in the Device Manager list... And it appears as "Mt65xx Loader" in the Device Manager, for just few seconds before terminating... Might be that Im using the wrong drivers or The wrong cable ??? Or both??? I'm using an usb cable that was made for an HTC and it had assigned the drivers of my HTC phone... But at the same time, it uses that Mt65xx Loader driver thing that I installed as well...

Hello, my first language is spanish also, so I understood the tutorial, however, you can refer to the reply that i sent to Qwerty, above, since the problem I think is on either the drivers im using or the cable itself....
Hmmmm so your problem is your connection disconnects after flashing starts .I helped a guy who had a similliar problem (his USB disconnected after 3 seconds so the tool doesn't flash ) I'll look it up again .
In the meantime I would like to know the condition of your phone like how you bricked it ,does the phone show any sign of life etc...

Yup, Oh Lord, ty, I will really appreciate if you can give me a hand on this one and you're working on it alrdy so I'm really grateful :silly: :good:
Alright, conditions, it does shows signs of life, however, I can get past the boot logo, to the "main screen" where launcher is etc, etc... But the thing is that, since I was working on a rootkit, I disabled many of the processes that I saw were 'suspicious' by suspicious I mean (e.g.) "com.gogle.services" with version: "1.4" instead showing something like process: "com.google.services" with version (e.g.) "version: 4.4.22.493 build: 493823-22-1114" you see.
So I started deleting those processes and installed ES File Manager, which it has a built-in cleaner, so after I finished disabling those processes, I started deleting junk files like a mad man using ES File Manager, and I remember going to the root and deleting the majority of the folders and files that I saw, so probably that's whats happening
Now with that previous story told... Now when I get past the boot logo, I just get this plain black screen, with only the battery status showing up, like literally only that, and the top scrollable menu, I'm able to carry it down but it has no notifications whatsoever, when I plug in the USB (while the phone is on) I get nothing whatsoever from the phone to the computer...
Hope this info helps in debugging whats going on here

Try these and let me know if any of these works
1)try uninstalling the drivers. Then reinstall ,reboot PC and try to flash again
2) does your phone has meta mode? Some mt65xx phone have it. To try accessing it do the following
Load the scatter like usual in sp flash tool ,click download ,now power off your phone(with battery) and connect to pc but hold vol+ button as well .(sometimes you need to hold the vol+ button throughout the whole flashing)
As far as your story goes the final solution is either1) flashing your stock ROM or 2)flash a custom recovery and install a custom rom but both of these require the sp flash tool process to work.
Edit : you know I'm telling you this because I believe you tried factory reset already ,if you havnt try it first.
Sp flash tool is for unbricking mostly.

Thank you for everything!
Finally got it to work! everything was working good, except the phone itself since it was semi-bricked apparently it couldn't make it to activate the usb system itself... however I went to SP Flash Tool and instead using only "Download" option, I instead used "Format All + Download" ... And then the USB didn't disconnected anymore and then I saw the tool working on it and the progress bars running perfectly! it took like less than 50 seconds to do everything when I saw the big green check mark on my screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!! Thanks!

I wanted to put a new rom on my Lenovo, so I started here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a850/general/tutorial-install-cwm-twrp-lenovo-a850-t2642431
I thought making a backup would be wise.
My Baseband model did not have ROW or CN in it, so after trying all four options EN/CN CWM/TWRP options, all failed an my phone would just reboot.
May be my mistake was trying a few more versions of CWM/TWRP, after one of which my Baseband model was gone...
So I decided to just go ahead and install a new rom without a backup. I installed the VCOM drivers (Win 8.1, a bit of hassle) and downloaded: http://www.needrom.com/download/a850-stock-s123-multilanguagegappsroot/
Тhе flashing process went OK (I got the green circle), but after disconnecting my phone and putting the battery back in, it would not start at all. Not even recovery mode.
I tried flashing another rom, but the PC/flash tool would not detect the phone again.
Тhe only sign of life is the red led when I connect the USB to the PC (without battery).
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S.: Also the phone stopped detecting my SIM cards while trying different CWM/TWRP versions.
P.P.S.: I actually was able to get a response from the flash tool by holding power, volume + and volume -, and got: ERROR 4032 : Enable DRAM failed!

No issues so far, but I'm basically back where I started from
i think u have flashed a850 4gb version firmware. same thing happen to my phone. but fixed it with a850i firmware.

[FIRMWARE][STOCK] DOOGEE NOVA Y100X | Android 5.0

It took me days trying to make Doogee send me these files. I managed to unbrick my device with this firmware.
So I decided to post it here so anyone can unbrick ther Y100X.
It must be used with SP Flash Tool, here is the link to the thread: Flash Tool
This is the firmware  (extract with 7zip): --files removed--
For me it worked with the Format All + Download option.
-The firmware is stock and provided by Doogee. I got nothing to do with the making of the files. I also do not get paid for providing these files. I just wanna help others. -
Link sharing is on now. Sorry for forgetting about this.
thanks for el firmware, now how to get the root ... xD. My smartphone is underway yet, cost me $ 70
Root can be achieved through kingroot. But it is an app I personally hate, so I used some KingRoot to SuperSU apps and they worked,so good luck!
Many thanks for the original Firmware :highfive:
I hope there will upgrade to 5.1 or a dream.
Hello
i got trouble with that Y100X, tried to root it with KingoRoot, then i want to replace Kinguser with SuperSu, after that it ended up in Bootloop (showing DooGee logo then reboots). SP Flash Tool won't start (also tried to find Phone with adb but it always reboot to fast and don't connect)
Any thing i can do?

Try to flash without the battery, rather than simply turned off the phone.

Tried rooting and bricked my phone, Kingroot wouldn't work so tried the Kingo apk which bricked it.

Hi.
I had the bootloop problem, and I've solved with this firmware. (Many thanks TheSpecialNoob)
In order to FlashTool detects the phone, needs to be power off, without enter in FlashTool mode.
Select a scatter file, choose "Format All + Download" and press Download.
Thats all.

By the way, someone has managed to stick a custom recovery??? like the CWM or TWRP. If so, could you explain how you did, or upload the recovery.img file for the FlashTool?.
Thank you

Also I have kept all the necessary files.

greetings from Spain
Thanks for giving us the original ROM.
I followed your steps and selecting "Format All + Download" I deleted the imeis and as I have read on the internet, also the NVRAM.
As I can do to permanently leave imeis? every time I have restored the ROM to modify and not know if I deleted more things to do a "Format ALL"
Someone I can pass the "NVRAM.bin" to upload it to my phone? Any other suggestions?

Regards
Yeah, I have the same problem. After restoring the stock rom, I have lost NVRAM settings.
Someone who has not restored the phone to stock, can upload the file nva.bin phone.
Thank you

[Guide/Info] [How To] Unbrick your Bricked MTK Devices (Dead Brick)

This thread is about how to recover the MTK Android phone, if it has gone Bricked (soft/hard/dead/etc)
THIS IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY.
Q. How Phone gets Bricked?
Ans : Basically, phone get bricked during the installation of Android OS (flashing).
Reason/why it happens
- If flashing is interrupted by low battery or loose cable connection during flashing.
- Using wrong firmware or a custom ROM (unstable) to flash your phone.
Result:
* Phone will not boot even after holding the power key and it will not accept charging. (Hard Brick / Dead Brick)
* Boot-Loop
* Restart loop
* No Recovery (In this situation, Hard Reset will not work)
Q. - Why Phone becomes dead (MTK Android Phone) ?

@jamsubzero I saw your post and thread regarding Dead Bricked
Hey guys.
I own a lenovo A328. For the past couple of months my phone, gets poping up "com.google.etc.etc has stopped".
I tried doing a factory reset, but no luck. Then I learn that I can flash it using SPflash tool with the stock firmware.
And luckily, I did it, my phone back to normal. But then, a few couple of weeks, it started to pop up the same error messages again until I can't do anything on my phone, and unitl it boot loops. So, I reflash again with the same firmware (stock).. and it works again. And same thing keeps repeating and repeating;
until I thought I can try to change the options in sp flash tool..
Instead of "Download only", I choose, "Firmware upgrade".... the flashing finished successfully.
BUT when I press the power button to turn it on, nothing happens, and when I charge it, I cant see the charging screen (or it's not actually charging). I'm sure that it is charging before the flashing, and the power button is working.
When I connect it to the computer, i hear a "connected" sound, then "disconnected", and repeating.
i also tried to reflash it, both the "DL only" and "Firmware upgrade", even the "Format all + ...."
and it flashed successfully (meaning, computer still recognized it), but still not turning on.
Please help me. please.

i am trying to flash vivo s7 and the cable shake and since then the phone is dead, have flashed it several time, it complete but it refuse to on
I need help please
Basically I was flashing updates for my CUBOT Nova and everything was going fine and I tried out this custom recovery which wouldn't mount any partition so it didn't really suit me. And I did this a dozen of times with other recoveries and if anything happened I had the firmware in SP tools ready to be flashed and if I could save going to it I just used the fastboot to flash it, and so I decided to completly stop and just put my phone back to normal and because I done it before I formatted the whole flash, (and FYI every 2 times I plugged in the phone powered off my computer always searched for drivers in the windows update but it failed and so everything still worked) but after I formatted it and plugged it out and in to download the firmware, my computer successfully installed the drivers and at this moment I was like shoot so I tried to download and it didnt recognise my phone and so I uninstalled the driver my computer installed and see if it worked and it kept installing it again, so I decided to uninstall every mtk driver I had and rebooted, when I installed every single driver again it tried to download drivers from the windows update but it failed and on the sp flash tools it goes to 100% on the Downloading DA (so the red bar) and stays like that for a while and I get notifications that I have a unrecognisable usb device and after a while it gives me randomly 2 errors 0xC0050005 and 0XC0060001 and I know someone is going to tell me I dont have the right firmware or that it's not the right ones but it isn't I got from the official Cubot website and I got an early versions from firmwarefiles I think and none of them work, now I just have a phone without anything on it and I cant flash anything on it until I just hope someone would walk me through what to do I would appreciate so much I'm sorry I wrote so much as I had to explain in max detail as I could what happened!

Hi there
I would like to know if you can help me in repairing my device.
So i wanted to do an upgrade on the tablet and i messed it up.
I was on CMW recovery at first and then i did a format on cache system and data. but when i wanted to flash the rom CM14.1 it fail and the devices restarted.
the screen goes on but i can see faint lines on the screen.
I did make a back up of the rom and tried to flash it back but it didnt work.
I used all the roms and it still didnt work. I tried many SP flash tool and formating and still not working. every single rom has been flash and all are green but the phone does not want to boot. i have youtube and followed the instructions and every single step i can think of but u have a gut feeling i am mssing something.
I cannot write SN on the fone as it will not work. i have uninstalled all the drivers re-install all the drivers did all the instruction that you have provided but still it will work.
the tablet does still detect on the PC and it does work. so basically it is in a bootloop but its not powering up. Some suggested using MRT TOOLS or MIRACLES but i have a problem with that as it always have a virus attached it to and when i download it the pc removes it. so i dont know where i can get a good crack tool.
