[Q] Linaro Pound [4.4] [CM11] I9003 Rom issues - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hello guys,
I was looking for flashing the Pound Linaro Rom by @LoLaTiOn. But I suspect the battery backup is low in that. Can someone give me reviews about this rom. I am kinda new to this so need a lil help. Though I have been following the dev thread for the same, but wanted few answers before flashing it as I cant post in dev thread.
Please any help would be appreciated :fingers-crossed: :good:

I see many ppl using Linaro Rom..I really need to know if it is stable and good for daily use..currently I am on Carbon-JB-v 1.8 [4.2.2]. But I dont get much of a battery backup. My main usage is calls, whatsapp n music. Apart from battery i face a familiar issue that while listening to music it gets hanged suddenly n player doesnt respond anymore. I ultimately have reboot it twice to make it work which is very annoying as I am hard core music lover ..So I actually want to know if Linaro (which many r appreciating) or any rom in JB with good battery life n no prob with playing music is available or not.
I am a noob here so need a lil help from u guys:good: Please give me some suggestions n reviews

Hi, everything seems to work and untill know it is the best rom for me! I did face with nasty SOD`s and these are gone to NOT let the processor run at 300Mhz (use a CPU app for that). When Cpu is set to minimum 600Mhz there are no problems with SOD. Short battery lenght is an issue. I hope the new version will fix it.

Help with lag fix, wakeup lag and overclock

Theres a lag when u bring the phone from sleep mode. If Im playing music, it wakes up instantly. How can I make it wake up faster? Is there any way to stop the function of sliding your finger on the notifications bar to adjust brighness. I have flashed the unleash the beast rom when I got the phone and I wanna do a lag fix. Which one should I do and what do I have to do. Does the lag fix hurt battery life?, How much faster does the phone get with the lag fix, is it worth it? Will overclocking the phone to 1.2ghz make the phone faster too?, will that hurt battery life 2? and will the phone be stable with an overclock and lag fix at the same time? Hope u guys can help me out

I would like to first say that these are questions and should be posted in the q&a section.
1. You can install SRE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751934 after a fresh flash of jh2
2. The only way to stop the brightness from adjusting is by getting rid of touchwiz...not the launcher but the whole dam thing aka you could try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759011
but it has a lot of bugs and doesnt work with SRE. Might as well get used to it
3. Ext2 is faster(not much and only noticeable in benchmarks) and ext4 is safer. I'm not sure how to apply the fix with that rom so you might as well go to the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751182) and then use the search tool.
4. Theres mix result with lag fixes and battery life. Some people swear it hurts it and some people swear it doesn't. Personally I don't see that much of a difference.
5. The phone gets ridiculous Quadrant(Benchmark) scores yet people experience different speed with the fixes. The general consensus is that they help(why do you think that there are more being made everyday )
6. Of course overclocking will make the phone faster too.
7. Of course it will hurt the battery life too. It needs more juice to run faster. Soon though unhelpful's kernel will allow us to undervolt and we will be able to optimize the phone even further.
8. Depends on which fix you make and in which order you flash everything. Again i recommend SRE.
Also If you appreciate what I have just done and what people are enabling you to do with this phone you will at least skim the threads. I know all this info just because I lightly skimmed the threads. Theres a search button also and it works very well.
And please please please If anyone else is like this poster and you choose to not read the threads before asking questions then the least you can do is post in the q&a section. If you can't see this section on your phone then uninstall and reinstall the xda app.

[Q] Could someone suggest me a ROM with good battery life?

Hi guys. My dad bought a Nexus S i9023, and I slapped an ICS ROM on top of it. The thing is: the battery drains very quickly. As he is a businessman, he needs a ROM that has a good battery life, let's say, for two days (more would be welcome). What would you suggest me?

Thanks for your reply. I'll try that.
Yw Man ..
im not so pro but there is many many rom and kernel can help you about battery saving .. but both of em were my own exprience..
AndroidMe 1.1.0 And Eugene Kernele Speedy 3 .. both awesome
dont know about their new version .. but i read ppl comment new version more stable and faster ..
From my experience the ROM doesn't affect battery life as much as a kernel can.
If you're using the stock ICS ROM try flashing Eugene373's SPEEDY 5 kernel.
Select Gov: Scary
IO Scheduler: Simple IO
This kernel has the best DEEP SLEEP times which in effect should have better battery life.
However on another note, 2 days of battery time is nearly impossible if he's going to make several calls a day. No matter what ROM/Kernel you use, you still have to plug in the charger at least once in the course of 48 hours.
i would say , it's not about ROM , but something related to kernel and your usage.
try Steve.Garon kernel or Eugene373's kernel , they say they are battery friendly. try UV , never OC, i would suggest 100 - 800 is good.
about usage , set brilliantness to minim as possible , don't use 3G connection but 2G, shut GPS BT and WIFI when not need.
easiest way !!! why don't you buy your dad an extra battery or external power source ? i don't know how to say it in english , just like a big battery , contains at least 10,000+ mAh ,and can use it charge phone, laptop , mp3, mp4 or something via USB.
like me , i have 2 batteries , so i don't worry about my battery ...it hardly kill 2 batteries in one day...
kangy-s rom with eugene's speedy 5 sio scheduler .. i get one day heavy usage with like 5 hrs on call .. over 100 sms .. over 2 hrs of whatsapp usage .. music .. its awesome
Thanks for your replies guys! I installed AOSP+ ROM with Eugene kernel 3.1.9.
Edit: It's over one day since my dad's Nexus is unplugged, and the battery is 50% !!

hey guys sry for the late reply.. the ic suggestions are really great but i actually wanna try out with gingerbread roms also.. and from the list i searched in, am guessing these roms come with theiir custom kernels...
http : / / nexusshacks . com/category/nexus-s-roms/page/2/
but they all seem to be OC...
so i would really be thankful if u could suggest me some gud ones..
thanx a lot
FYI: is installing a new kernel safe?? and can i revert back to stock kernel if i wanna?? sry for basic questions but i dono much about kernels...
Rom with Good battery
I have tried many many many ginger bread roms, from cm 7 to other roms. I must say oxygen rom is by far the best. used to have 1.5-2 days of battery life with it. of course coupled with Glados kernel or Trinity. Up to you, just give it a shot, u wont regret it make sure u install 2.3.1 not 2.3.2 as its more stable
download.oxygen.im/roms/update-oxygen-2.3.1-NS-signed.zip
and for Ice cream Sandwich i would definitely suggest AOSP+ by Androiduser 0011000. its simply great with minor modifications. Gives great battery life with Glados or ICUP Eugene speedy 5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358
hope i was of help
PS. Flashing kernels is very safe. A Kernel contains the Drivers for your phone.so its very safe. Custom Kernels usually offer nice mods like "better screen colors" "better Battery" and "BLN" which i like the most because the 4 touch buttons light up when u recieve smthg.
and ofcourse you can always go back to stock.
cool thanx a lot.. will try it today itself..

I actually have a similar question. I myself own a Epic 4g Touch (GS2), but my girlfirend has a Nexus S for T-Mobile and she is running CM7. thing is i slapped that on for her when that was the most up to date thing, and you ICS upon us, i thought it was time i upgraded her phone. I wanted to put CyberGR-MOD using Matr1x 14.5CFS, but i'm going based off what i could read about it. It appears to be fast, tweaked, and customizable, just what i want. Only thing that i don't know is, is it Stable, and is the battery life good. Anyone have any thoughts on this ROM

[Q] updated kernel to use with Slim ICS ?

I am running [ROM][4.0.4] Slim ICS(T959V)-UNOFFICIAL posted by beastmode, Question is there a more updated kernel I could use with it ?
I am thinking either [KERNEL]Proton Kernel build2[ICS][TFQ] or [Kernel]ICS/CM9 LZ Kernel from Team Fah-Q (Updated 20OCT12)
I am very happy with this ROM and GPS is working great (after a few hacks from other threads) but battery life is the worst !!! I lose 5% when using Waze/GPS plugged into the car charger and about 20% overnight just sitting there, I have tried all sorts of battery apps as well as turning off wifi at night with no luck. So I am thinking that a new kernal would help.
I only use the phone for GPS and Web browsing.
Has anyone used these kernels and with what ROMS ?
Interesting in upgrading not bricking my phone and installing everything from scratch
yes i am a newbie so apologies in advance ! Thanks.
Neither of those kernels (nor, really, anything else) is going to make Waze or any other GPS app stop using as much power as they do. If you wanted to change your scheduler and governor, those might make a difference... but anything with working GPS is a Herring kernels using the same paths to talk to the GPS.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Even if GPS is a battery sucker what can I do about the fact that leaving the phone on takes so much battery ?
Could you suggest other stable kernel/ROMS for the SGH-T959V that support GPS and have decent battery life ? I like the simplicity of ICS and since all I do with this phone is browse the web and use GPS I really don't need any bells and whistles.
Thanks.
The two best ICS at the moment are probably Ultragen 1.01 (be sure NOT to use 1.00) or HebMIUI, which is the only ICS that still gets irregular updates.
The big thing to do with Waze is, if you don't NEED to stare at the screen, turn it off and just listen to the audio directions. Sucks down a LOT less battery that way, though it's still a bit painful.
Regarding general ways of improving battery life... look into Greenify if you haven't yet. Can tell apps to stop running in the background if you don't actually want them to. Just remember NOT to Greenify Waze if you don't want it to shut down with the screen off, or your music app, or anything else you actually want to use while you're not actively looking at it. Oh, and avoid Greenifying your email too. Though it's funny, it's not a good way to find out about new messages.

Anyone using note 3 n900 (WELCOME)

I don't know if it's right to open this thread....
But I can't post anything in the development section.
I'm using this site for four years at least and can't ask any questions i have.
My question is to @halaszk88 who made the kernel of n900 (or anyone have answer)
I use his kernel since 5 month it's so amazing but why he didn't put all primary things that kernel must have (in my opinion) like:
-Touch to wake (like googy max kernel for s3)
-Pegasusq governor(handle the game very well)
-Accept UHS memory card like sandisk (the files and folders disappear randomly)
-Combine the kernel with other app like trickster mod (because it's have lovely options like: time of the device in deep sleep and you can change all the voltages of cpu in one click and other stuff like these )
I'm not a developer, but I can learn fast
if any one can help or explain I'm very appreciate
Thank you all for this great site
Anyone!!!!
or at least post my request to halaszk88 thread if it's ok
Still waiting
having the same problem as you bro lol... having been on here shorter than you i find it odd you have to have a minimum of 10 post before you can post in the dev side... i also have a n900 and want to ask some questions, so sign of relief that i saw your post lol... ive used halaszk kernal but have been very disappointed with it, cant find any settings that wont over heat and lock up my phone... being one of two kernals that can be OverClock and volt regulated kernal, i find the pekaka-Kernel much better as far as being able to OC without overheating... One thing i cant understand is why i cant get thru an antutu benchmark without halaszk kernal rebooting my phone... so ya got a score of 36620 (antutu) with the pekaka-Kernel OC to 2Ghz... but hope all goes well sir and hope this helps us both so we can start posting where the devs will actually see our questions.
You are absolutely right bro
my phone also get heat with this kernel.....
we must have to get in halaszk88 thread very soon
see you there in couple of days man
thank you for posting here
not a problem man... just seems that this cpu architecture isnt the greatest for overclocking and with the discussion of not getting the HMP implement im kinda about to give up on tweaking my phone... seems these devs cant make a stable enough kernal (roms seem fine) that can handle the OC and heat. but as far as the pekaka-Kernel i would suggest that one for now until halaszk can fix his issues with overheating...
here my setup
[ROM][SM-N900] alba19986's (Lite version) Added TW deleted Nova Launcher :good:
pekaka-Kernel:N900XXUDNA6-2.0|N900-v7.2|Permissive|OC-2.0G|UV
big core: OC 2.0G
LITTLE core: 550mhz
did not touch default volt settings (2Ghz '1262mV')

I'll try pekaka kernel soon with your settings and let you know what it's performance on my phone.
because i use stock rom
Thank you man
ya those settings seem to be ok... got bored and up my minimum cpu setting from 550mhz to 900mhz just to see if there was any performance increasse... seems to be faster but the Antutu benchtests still remain the same, around 34 to 36k... ive also tried to UV and OV and found out that OVing more than once or twice will freeze my phone cause it over heats it... once i get into the ACTUAL forms ill ask more questions to halaszk about volt settings cause it uses about the same as the peka kernal but overheats quicker... mayb ill just tinker with it some more and find a good setting... wish me luck xD
Hi
good luck forever bro
i tried pekaka-Kernel 2.1 version ( bbecause I'm on 4.4.2) it seems very good and my phone performance getting up.
It's missing many setting that halaszk88 have.
but the performance is amazing....
Thank you bro

yea the downfall of this kernal is that there are less settings to play with but it is a hell of alot more stable ( my opinion ) than halaszk.
feeling kinda of down tho cause even tho this is an awesome phone, i feel i should have went with the n9005 since there are more DEVs there than here. Im grateful for the DEVs we have but really dissapointed when it comes to Kernals that are out there. about only 2 good kernals possibly 3 (goodhanrry) but at max halaszk can only OC at 2.1ghz ( and it heats up ur CPU like a motherF***).
three more post and im in there... early congratz for only one more (post) for you man GL
I'll post in halasz88 thread soon....
but all thanks to you bro for let me post there

Thats great 80 really
How u want it (the comparison)
U need to set all parameters same for all roms for comparison - thats really difficult.
just tell us ur ideas.
Sorry for the late reply...running out of net this mont... but my idea was that...let's decide one battery monitoring application for all rom... N then fix the time interval for 30 min...n then will have one common thing running for that 30 min...and compare the battery drains during that 30 min in %..n for this u r not alone...we all will help...whichever the rom we r running will follow the same n will post the results..n by this way will select the rom by battery performance...this similar thing we can do for other parameters also like...gaming experience... Internet browsing experience.... Video performance... HD performance... Etc...

Good idea:good:
i think time interval should be atleast 24hr.
as battery drain depends upon wakelocks which occurs when ur screen is off.
certion apps like google play services activates inbetween causing such wakelocks.
so which app and which version also matters here.
we can do something like this.
starting with photo
With sony z3 ROM
