[APP] Moody - Moodle Web Client - Android Apps and Games

Development news:
In the last week my laptop suffer a fall. At the moment I'm unable to release an update, I think in the next month I will be able to release another major update with the critical bugs fixed. I hope in that time more Universities will have moody service activated. Until there I'm working to have more and more institutions working with Moody and trying to convince Moodle.org to enable a web service with all the required functions by default, it will be better for all.
Also in the next month Moody dev team will have a new member and with is help we will be able to do more and better.
If your Moodle Server it's not supported please fill this doc with the URL/Admin e-mail so i can contact the admin to provide acess to Moody
Moodle Not Working DOC
You can test if the moody_service is active in your Moodle in any broswer with this link:
YOUR_MOODLE_URL/login/token.php?username=YOUR_USERNAME&password=YOUR_PASSWORD&service=moody_service
If a token is returned it's everything is alright
If the returned message contains "servicenotavailable" please fill the doc.
It also can return a message saying the username/password is incorrect, please be sure that user/password are right
Moody is a android open-source application for the Moodle e-learning platform.
Moody will be our main access to the Moodle e-learning platform, but it was also thought to be our best friend, the one who will help us with every school matter. The desired idea is Moody to be known as a friend and not a resource. Therefore, it will have access to the Moodle content, show us the information in a user friendly environment and notify about new developments in our important and favorite subjects.
Features:
- Native Android application
- Open source UI themes and completely customizable
- Free
- Access to courses while offline
Requirements:
- Moodle >= 2.2
- Android >= 3.0.x
- Internet connection
- Warning: Not all functions are available in Moodle 2.2, for better experience we recommend Moodle >= 2.5
- Moody service enabled in the Moodle Server
How it works:
The client sends a user name and password to the web service login script.
The script returns a token for that user account.
The client calls a particular web service function on a protocol server including the token .
The protocol server uses the token to check that the user can call the function.
The protocol server call the matching external function, located in a externallib.php file inside the relevant module.
The external function checks that the current user has_capability to do this operation.
The external function calls the matching Moodle core function (in lib.php usually).
The core function can return a result to the external function.
The external function will return a result to the protocol server.
The protocol server returns the result to the client.
What Moody can do:
- Moody is able to get all the contents of your courses
- Notify you about new contents in your favorites
- Add your courses to your favorites
- Get the latest contents from all of your courses
- Search in your courses
- Send messages to contacts
- Edit profile picture

Isn't "moody" a strange name for the product though?

Nothing very positive about "moody" in the word itself. Just my 2 cents.

Either way it looks well done, just sad I'm out of school now, many universities use a Moodle platform around here.

Can not login, I think the moodle version my school uses is too old. Where can I see moodle version?

Very awesome. I went to download but checked my school's website first. They still use version 2.1 for some reason :\

I created an account on Moodle, but do not know how to get the URL, if anyone can help me .. I thank

My school uses moodle, but when I try to log in I get "Error: authentication"...
http://moodle.pakuranga.school.nz seems to be fine, no invalid URL errors.
Any ideas? Moodle's great for accessing class resources and so on, and my school's own app is... lacklustre (not to mention designed like iOS in every way).
EDIT: I just read the bug list... lol. I guess you could put the S3 as one of the affected devices...

Also getting invalid URL for https://moodle.cs.man.ac.uk, on the nexus 5.

invalid url nexus 4
invalid url moodle.ritchennai.net

https://moodle2.unizar.es/add doesn't work. Authentication fails, but official Moodle App works.
Is source code available?

Hi, it seems to be an amazing app but it gives to me url error, the url is http://moodle.upm.es and uses moodle 2.4, any solution for the error?

Can't access https://moodle.ufsc.br... It returns me authentication error, problems with the url etc... There's nothing wrong with the url. I've tested on Moodle official app (which sucks, btw. I've never used it before...) and everything went fine.

Same for me! "Error in Authentication service - Webservice isn't availible (Either doesn't exist or is blocked)". Official Moodle app works, but sucks. If read in the OP that Moody Service needs to be enabled, is it causing this error?

HISTORY
TrackMe is the conversion of the popular tool written originally for Windows Mobile 5 and 6. This version for Android has widely extended the WM version and includes tons of new features. You can find the original thread for TrackMe for WM here
WHAT IS TRACKME?
TrackMe is a GPS/WiFi/Cell ID tracker. It records your path, speed, altitude, distance, temperature and other parameters. It can also be started remotely using text messages from any other phone.
You can view your data (live or recorded) from your phone or also from any browser if you sync it with a TrackMe server.
Features
* Works with no internet connection. All your data is stored on your phone unless that you decide to sync it with a TrackMe server.
* Stealth mode: Start/stop recording or send your position by sms by sending text messages from other phones without having TrackMe installed.
* Add markers with pictures, comments, file attachments or voice notes to your routes.
* Automatic image matching. You can match existing photos stored on your phone with any of your routes. TrackMe will try to find the closest match by using the tags stored inside the photos.
* Detailed route summary.
* Load any GPX files on the map and follow them!
* Show nearby markers. Check on the map for nearby markers that you have added previously in other routes. Very useful if you are trying to go back to a place that you have visited before.
* Cloud sharing. Share public or privately your position on the map. You can use this to meet with a person, if you both got lost from each other, if you want to see where the person is if it went on a trip...
This feature can be also started and stopped from any other phone using text messages.
* Export and import routes using KML or GPX files.
* Share your position on WhatsApp, sms, email, twitter...
* Highly customizable.
* Use our own server free of charge or your own!
* And much more!

SYNCING YOUR DATA WITH A TRACKME SERVER (you only need the app on your phone)
Let's suppose your wife wants to track your location in real-time.
On your phone: Enable "Sync my positions" in Settings->TrackMe Server Settings->Sync my positions. You also need to enter a username and password.
Now your wife can go to http://luisespinosa.com/trackme from a browser, enter that username and password and enable "Live Tracking On/Off" to see your current position. You need to start recording on the TrackMe app for all this to work.
Keep in mind that Cloud Sharing is less accurate. Syncing with a TrackMe server will allow you as much accuracy as you need, by adjusting the GPS, WiFi, QuickFix, Minimum Accuracy/Distance/Time values in the settings.

Big thanks LEM, I was waiting since April, since I threw my last winmo device
I just want to use my own web server, but when I'm going on Google to get my Maps API, Google tells me :
Note: The Google Maps Javascript API Version 2 has been officially deprecated as of May 19, 2010. Version 3 does not require an API key. The V2 API will continue to work as per our deprecation policy, but we encourage you to migrate your code to version 3 of the Maps Javascript API.
does someone is familiar with that ?
That's great LEM!
Oh that brings back memories Now my Touch Pro can enjoy a peaceful retirement

I didn't know about that. I think eventually (unless somebody from the community wants to help) will be redoing the web interface. It hasn't been updated in a long time and I would like to fix and add a few things.

You're welcome! Yes, I can see your signature...hopefully it got updated with the new TrackMe!
By the way, the company that acquired the original TrackMe (and is supporting this new version) is creating a website for it. You can visit it at www.mobiletrackme.com
Eventually we will move everything there. My website got kind of confused right now with so many versions!

Hi,
first many thanks for the android version.
And now my problem, I'am using my own server on port 8080. I've entered the URL Header h**p://xx.xx.xx.xx:8080 and got only an error 401, but didn't find any entries in my log. After a while of searching, I found the entrys on my 2. server running on port 80.

Likewise. This Android version is working like a charm. Thanks LEM!
Would it be possible to run trackme as a service? For my Desire Z it seems somehow to shutdown sometimes when I'm using some other programs when using TM (eg. Foursquare). So I could be sure that it will be run on background when using some other progs. I'm not using any software that would kill processes.
And how about some features that WM -version had? Eg. when turning with some degrees it would push current location right away to the server (and send also angle parameter to the database).
Hopefully you have some time for the future also develop this Android version ahead. Great work! Thanks again. Now I have all the software that I'll need for Android.

[APP][1.6+] 666up! 0.4.1 2012-07-06 (Android frontend for the image hoster 666kb.com)

Hi!
So, here it is, my first Android app
What does it do?
Upload images to 666kb.com
What's 666kb.com?
A very simple image hoster like picasa, yfrog and hundreds of others.
Check it out: http://666kb.com/
So why 666kb.com?
Because it's simple and basic. probably as simple, basic and bare as an image hoster ever will be.
- no login
- no html around the hosted images. (hence no spammy ads)
- hard to guess urls, and no ability to browse images, so the link is the only way to get the image
just try it out and you will see what I mean.
I have nothing to do with 666kb.com, I'm just a user, so please don't bother the maintainers of it with issues regarding the app.
And what does the app do?
have a picture, share it, select 666up!...
the image is scaled down (if >666kb) and uploaded to 666kb.com.
once done you can give it a title, copy the link to the image to the clipboard, share it with the usual android sharing facility or just leave it be.
a record of all uploaded images is saved on the phone for later use.
If you launch the app, you'll see a list of previously uploaded images.
What are the use cases?
- sharing images the easy way via gtalk or other IM services.
- sharing images via SMS/txt
where I live one usually gets about 1000 SMS per month for free, but they charge a lot for MMS. So it saves money (given the recipient has internet access on the phone)
Market link?

of course you may, it's GPL'd:

Anything else
Suggestions are of course welcome. I don't make any money with this. I developed it in my free time just because I felt the need for it. Oh, and this thread is the first form of advertisement for the app.

2012-03-03: Fixed broken apk
just realized that the apk I had on the market was broken.
Reason why it was broken:
I found a typo in the strings.xml file right after I uploaded a prior version.
I corrected the typo, exported an unsigned apk, signed it and uploaded it without testing (I know! I know!).
So, what happened was:
Eclipse somehow failed to generate those R classes and just packaged the apk without them. This is why the app failed to launch :-(
I didn't notice that because I kept using the version with the typo.
Sorry guys!
This surely qualifies as an epic fail .
New Version: ICS look, nicer thumbnails and fixed some FCs
well, 0.2.1 is out.
Whats new?
Using Holo theme on ICS.
Thumbnails are now generated according to your device's screen resolution.
Which means: nicer thumbnails on hdpi (or better) devices.
Finally got rid of all those FCs that could occur if the uploads failed and the screen is turned.
have fun!
this is great! thanks a bunch!! any possibility of adding other image hosts in the future? i usually use imageshack, and i'm sure other people have their own favourites as well. either way, this really makes it a lot simpler to post images online and you did a great job making this app fast, great looking, and most importantly, functional! looking forward to future updates - it can only get better from here
is the devil the sponsor for this app?
Well, not quite the devil. I adopted the name from the website. Which got the name from the size limit for the images. iirc, it started with 256kb.com and has meanwhile evolved to 666kb.com
But I can guarantee that the only sponsor of this app is my own curiosity about making an android app and the fact, that I felt the need for such an app and there was none. So no unholy stuff going on in the source code.. I leave this to my perl programs ;-)
I also did a small batch upload script in perl which resizes the images if they are too large, uploads them and prints the urls to the console. (I'll share it if someone is interested)
Thanks for the kind words, Bloodflame. I have multiple upload-site in mind, but most of the bigger ones already have apps. so there little need for another app unless of course all existing apps are bad and better one could be done. There is one for imageshack:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codeminders.imageshackdroid
next in line is probably something to upload multiple images at once.
and I should address the issue, that the detail view is partly hidden when the device is held in a landscape position. maybe a scrollbar or a different layout for landscape.
Just released a new version
I've also transformed my second post into a version history post, please refer to this for details on changes.
I did a rather big change under the hood:
Including Android Beam support and exif based image rotation brakes compatibility with old android versions. So, I made 3 different APKs and uploaded them altogether.
One is specifically for Android 1.6.
Play store statistics say, there is exactly one install for this app on a 1.6 device.
So, if you have this app on a 1.6 device, I did about an hour of modification an testing just for you! ;-)
1.6 doesn't support the ExifInterface and it isn't available with the compatibility package. Therefore, no image rotation for you.
This also applies to Android Beam.
Another version for 2.0 to 3.2.
It is just missing the Android Beam feature.
And the last one for 4.0 and upwards.
I'm not yet sure how easy it is to maintain 3 versions of the app (even with git). So I'm not sure how the support of older devices will look like in the future. But I will try to keep this as backwards compatible as possible.
I have spent the last 3 or 4 days trying to find an generic image uploading app. Would you ever consider making a version that could post to a user configurable URL? And I guess a user configurable regex for the reply?
Perfect it's work fine
Thank you

This is not as straight forward as it may look like in the first place because uploads are done via a POST request. Normal URLs indicate a GET request.
If you are curious what's going on, have a look at this source file:
https://github.com/qorron/666up/blob/master/up666/src/org/qless/up666/ImageUploader.java#L119
starting with line: 119
But I'm sure that I can do this. The regex is no problem of course.
I'm on vacation until Sept. so please have a little patience. If it's ok for you I'll write you a massage once I have hacked together something.
POST is fine, I have a 30 odd line python script that handles upload already for me. I just need a app that can post and that shows up in androids share drop down list.
bump
How was your vacation?
It was fine, thanks!
The app is not quite ready yet.
The upload mechanism accepts parameter for the url and all the additional post fields.
But there is no GUI yet to type it all in.
I'll contact you once it works.
So.. I've done it.
desclaimer: this poat addresses people with at least some background in webscraping and regular rxpressions.
the apk attaches here is not intended to be used by normal users. it contains bugs and maybe cause the world to end, so be careful.
hello weedy2887,
please excuse the long delay. I had a terrible car accident (which I luckily survived without any harm) and needed some time to recover and manage things and stuff..
I've attached the apk below.
there are some bugs and unfinished stuff in it, so please use it with caution!
bugs:
if you press the buttons in the actionBar in the upload-screen while the upload has not yet finished you will get an empty message or the app will crash.
some
unfinished:
there are no sanity checks or error handling regarding the configurable upload-site feature.
e.g. if you enter an invalid regex or something like that, the app will crash.
there is no "reset to defaults (666kb.com)" button.
limitations:
apk is for android 4+
here is a short description on how this works:
base url:
Code:
http://666kb.com/u.php
this is where the action= attribute of the form points to.
file param
Code:
f
this is the name of the file parameter
additional param:
Code:
MAX_FILE_SIZE 681984
submit Speichern
these are other static parameters that are submitted along the file.
parameter_name<space>data<newline(enter, return,..)>
note: the last line is:
submit<space><space>Speichern<space><newline>
the paraneters are being sent in the order they are written in this string.
duplicates are possible and are not collapsed into one.
regex
Code:
(\Qhttp://666kb.com/i/\E.*?)"
this is to find the url of the uploaded image.
it has to contain exactly one capture group which designates the exact url of the image.
these are all the site dependent parameters.
it works for the 666kb.com site.
I haven't had the chance to test it with an other site because the only other site simmilar to 666kb.com I knew (777kb.com[1]) seems to be down or gone completely. so there may be some things which I have forgotten.
[1] 777kb.com was a copycat of 666kb.com with the difference: 777kb max. image size. images are deleted after there was no access for 30 days.

Hey all, I would like to present to you my application, it is my first app which I released to market.
Clean, simple and material design on your device from android 2.3+
Nowadays, every website is vulnerable to hackers. So our data are not safe everywhere. You shouldn't have one, two or even three main passwords for all your accounts. If you want to feel safe you should have in each of them their own password, independent of the others. Password Creator will create it for you and make it easier to manage them.
Password Creator is an application which allow you easily generate and manage your unique passwords for everything. Additionally, you can change each list and generate a password, in its sole discretion. Additional options, such as exclusion and repeat will ensure that your password will stronger.
Built-in manager will help you remember all of your passwords, categorize them and keep in one place.
You can feel safe because passwords are stored in encrypted DataBase with AES algorithm (128Bit key - depends on your PIN). Additionally there is NO Internet connection permission, so you can be sure that your passwords never will leak outside your smartphone.
Manager and settings are safely because of main PIN which you have to only remember.
All these function in fully responsible and easy material design with backward compatibility to android 2.3.
Of course you can import and export your password, move them to other device - just do it with current PIN.
FEATURES of Password Creator:
• Fully editable lists from which you generate your password
• Categories with ability to define your own
• Manager to store all your passwords
• History of generated passwords if you want get one back
• Material design starting with version 2.3+
• No internet connection required
Full version:
• Unlimited passwords in the manager
• Unlimited history
• Unlimited categories
• Lists are editable

- If you want help translate to other languages - contact with me
1.0.0 - initial release
Do you plan to translate into other languages?
Why not open source? Especially when it comes to privacy, passwords, etc. people want to know how it works. What are your apps' advantages worth mentioning over other free apps, let's say Twik?
The less you know the better you sleep
Seriously, there are two most important things:
NO INTERNET connection permission - you can be sure that in no magical way, your passwords do not leak
Material - created in accordance with the principles of Material design
I think that first point is the most important because I don't what happen with my data in other applications which require it. Twik need it for icons? They are too heavy to put it inside app? Maybe yes, but I don't have time to check code every update, is the code from the git is an application that I use. I checked several popular applications of this type and all have Internet Connection permission. They have over 100k users who probably don't know what is happening in app or after they closed it. I don't want to wake up one day and find that after last update my informations are circulating on the Web.
Other advanteges:
No ads
Additional options to generate password (eg you can define how many repeats should be max in row)
One again Material design which is good point in that app (available from android 2.3.3+)
Good work

Yes, if only there will be people who want to translate it to different languages.
Upcoming new version with fixes for tablets, rate bar. App is ready now to translate to different languages and prepared for future encrypting algorithm. Now is DES with 64bit key -> will be AES with 256bit key (both depends on your PIN of course)
Great App! Good looking!
Do you intend to support existing database format like keepass2 for example ?
Hello,
If you have a file with all the variables that needs to be translated, I can provide you the French version.

I have to check whether it is able to save decrypted database. But eWallet probably will be first one which will be supported.

Having no Internet permission is an absolutely good thing, but being open source those apps can be reviewed and even compiled without it, so it's not really as dramatic as you described. Twik also free of ads, but I agree with you that your app offers more possibilities of creating passwords.
But nonetheless, nice app

Your app looks good.
Just ask if you need a german translation
New update is available now. To better protect your data, generator must also be protected with PIN. I tested AES128/CBC/PKCS5 on my S3 and it is very slow but is better than DES encryption algorithm. Because most of user don't have any of top devices like Nexus 6, this algorithm will be added as an option. Here I have a proposal to add option to login to app once but only at your own risk. What do you think?
Is there anyone here who would like to translate the application to Spanish?
(Added thanks in 1st post and fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/passcr)
@Marurban after installing it force closes on my galaxy y duos gt-s6102,running stock rooted GB 2.3.6 rom. log attached.

Exactly what I needed, I just had to increase the security of my accounts since I was using some really weak passwords.

Bitwarden - Free & open source password manager for all of your devices
Download .apk directly
Description
Bitwarden is the easiest and safest way to store all of your logins and passwords while conveniently keeping them synced between all of your devices.
Password theft is a serious problem. The websites and apps that you use are under attack every day. Security breaches occur and your passwords are stolen. When you reuse the same passwords across apps and websites hackers can easily access your email, bank, and other important accounts.
Security experts recommend that you use a different, randomly generated password for every account that you create. But how do you manage all those passwords? Bitwarden makes it easy for you to create, store, and access your passwords.
Bitwarden stores all of your logins in an encrypted vault that syncs across all of your devices. Since it's fully encrypted before it ever leaves your device, only you have access to your data. Not even the team at Bitwarden can read your data, even if we wanted to. Your data is sealed with AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256.
Bitwarden is 100% open source software. The source code for Bitwarden is hosted on GitHub and everyone is free to review, audit, and contribute to the Bitwarden codebase.

How close are you to the accessibility service and allowing automatic filling in of apps and internet like LastPass does? This is basically what I am waiting for and that is it.

Hoping to have it available within the next couple of months. You can track progress of that feature here: https://github.com/bitwarden/mobile/issues/1
I've just read your email for the Kickstarter compaign and I'm willing to pay for the Early Backer Lifetime Premium Membership.
As you explain on HN, bitwarden is sponsored by the Microsoft BizSpark program. So could you give more explanations? For how long is it sponsored by Microsoft? What could happen if you don't reach $49,000?
My main worries are Auto-fill for Android and Independant security audits. Do you plan annual audits of the whole source code?
I dont really understand this point:
Operations. Growing bitwarden requires investment to accelerate product feature development and power our secure product servers.

Servers are managed by Microsoft Azure? Do you want to leave Microsoft and increase your server access/storage?
Did you ever consider using other services than the one provided by Microsoft ('a GAFAM')?

Can you also explain, why you (bitwarden) over established brands like LastPass and Dashlane?

I can at least say that bitwarden is fully open source, the main reason why I will probably stop using LastPass.
Kyle (kspearrin) takes into account users feedbacks and seems to be opened to suggestions. AFAIK it's as secure as LastPass.

Our current sponsorship lasts for 2.5 more years, however, this sponsorship is not infinite. As bitwarden grows larger we will outgrow the sponsorship and need additional investment. We are not anywhere near our ceiling on this yet though.
If we do not reach our goal, I will still continue working on the project and the features outlined. That is not in question. Things just might move at a much slower pace than I would like since I have other obligations that prevent me from doing this full-time.
Leaving Azure is not in question at the moment. It works well and supports our needs.
Thanks again for your french translations!
@Primokorn Could you please email from the contact form on the website, https://bitwarden.com/contact/? I'm trying to collect all of the translation contributors contact information so that I can keep you up to date via email when translations change. Thanks.

Why we need to add seperate login details for app and it's site ?
If I add xda app login details to bitwarden, then when I visit xda site, again I need to add the login details to bitwarden.
In lastpass we need to enter only one. If we add app login details, when we visit it's website it will auto detect the details.

@kspearrin you have a wonderful app here. Switched from keepassx. Using it via chrome extension and android app. Issues that i found: double pass for android and web and accessibility services does not work on Chrome Dev on 7.1.1
Keep up the good work and thanks!
@jerryn70 @icrunchbanger we're working on some improvements to that flow.
@jerryn70 @icrunchbanger I've added some improvements to autofill that is now in beta to test:
1. Added two groups of logins in the autofill listing: matching logins and possible matching logins.
- Matching logins are the results from the way the current version works (complete matches).
- Possible matching logins are ones were the app tries to make a guess based on the reverse domain of the package name on an app. For example, `androidapp://com.google.plus` will match `https://google.com`. A warning alert is shown whenever you select a possible matching login for autofill since it is possible to exploit this method.
2. Added ability to search your full vault to select anything for the autofill.
Get the beta here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.x8bit.bitwarden
Let me know any feedback and I'll plan on publishing this soon.

[APP][5.0+] Sh-ort -- URL Shortener

Sh-ort is a how I reimagined a URL Shortener app using Material Design to build a branded experience, through UI and Motion.
There are several apps that take care of shortening urls, and they are great at what they do but they all have more or less the same design and are a little boring.
Also when you have many urls it is difficult to manage the statistics well and to have everything at hand, maybe a general overview of how your links are performing would be fantastic - I thought - and also give the user the possibility to render the entries in the list more recognizable thanks to the preview of the article, or of the page whose URL you have shortened.
Then I thought about who could use the app, to a tempt who perhaps manages several websites for work, and who might want to see how the links belonging to the same site perform.
I have created a small app that attempts to improve the experience with URL shortener, through its structure (overview, all links, best links), the ability to filter links based on the site they belong to, the date, or whether they are added to favorites or not.
The details department is still in its early stages but you can have the complete statistics on clicks already by default, without the need for a subscription as happens in major similar apps.
Of course there is still a lot to improve, so I trust in your feedback to find bugs and to add features that I missed in this first release.
There is a complete lack of translations in all languages and dark mode, which will be implemented once the app has reached a modest number of functions and use cases, making it an attractive app for the average and pro user.
Find more information on my app design and branding process in the Medium article linked below, as well as the link to download the app.
I look forward to hearing from you and your feedback, thanks for your attention.

Hello, the login part has nothing to do with tracking, it is simply used to let the user create collections of short urls on the server, and sync it across devices.

Sorry, I meant syncing and saving, not Google tracking me.
Just installed/uninstalled, the app won't even start without a Google login.
I'm not interested in saving, collecting, or syncing shortened URL's, just sending “one and done” links from my phone. Can you tweak this to eliminate the login?

The app is designed to assign an owner to every short url so the owner can check the short url performance. If you are not interested in stats means that this is not an app that fits your needs.

Hello, thanks for reaching out but I cannot guess what is the problem just knowing your android version. For sure I can say that have not passed at least 3 hours yet since you got crashes because the crash console is flat.
Write your device model and as soon I get the report I can see what s wrong and eventually I will fix it.
