App not compatible -> fix build.prop? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
there is an app in the play-store which i would like to have on my nexus5 (click)
But it says that the app and my n5 are not compatible.
I'm wondering why because my n5 runs cm11 and the app was available for my galaxy s2 which also runs cm11.
So i modified the build.prop on my n5 and set the ro.product.device=gt-i9100.
But still i am not able to intall the app on my n5.
Do you have any advice how i could get the app?
I also was not able to find the apk using google :crying:
Thanks for your help!

i don't think the playstore is looking for your device model - more likely for your sdk level/ screenresolution or something like that ^^ (so manipulationg build.prop like you did doesn't provide you anything

that app was updated last in jan 2013. way before the n5 release, way before android 4.4 or 4.3 or 4.2. i think you would have to wait until they at least update the app to support the android version that youre running. email and ask the developer.

So i am curious about what would happen if i replace my build.prop with one from a stock s2. I mean the app was running on my s2 cm11 so i guess the android os doesn't matter. But i'm wondering what else could be a reason. I can't believe the screen resolution is causing my issue.
And one last question: i can't break anything by replacing my build.prop temporarily can i?

You'll brick your phone, or at least make it very non-functional. Have fun with that

you just wont boot and will have to reflash your rom or the factory img. you wont brick it, unless you dont know how to fix it. when not just edit your build.prop manually with a root file explorer?

I did modify my build.prop using root explorer but gt-i9100 as device and 4.3 as os weren't working. So i guess i will try a few more settings. But the play store didn't detect my n5 with modified build.prop so i'm wondering if this workaround is working at all.

Samsung ChatON 1.5.3 apk?

Hey all,
I've been using ChatON since it came out and I love the program, but last week I got a Galaxy Nexus and the app isn't compatible with ICS. It doesn't show up in the market. I was able to find an apk of version 1.1 that does work, so I know it will work on ICS, but I would really like to have the latest version. Is there any way someone could upload the 1.5.3 apk for me?
+1. Any one has it? Stupid Market is saying that my phone isn't compatible, but i have an older version on the phone and it is working just fine.

(Q) keep launcher in memory

Hi guys, i Tried several Roms and used different launchers, but 2-5times a day the launcher reboots when using different apps.
So I would like to know if there is a way to keep the launcher in memory. I don't have the knowledge to understand if this is technical possible. Hope to get an answer from better informed people
Cheers

There is a script floating around here called supercharger or something that prevents launcher redraws. Youll have to search for it, but its around here.

Apex launcher has this option. You could flash a kernel with highbigmem also, which gets you extra 50MB of RAM.

If someone on here has downloaded and installed the APK for the Cookoo watch could you extract it with Titanium Backup and post to here? I would like to try to install it on my One X!

Try this http://db.tt/T3DlS0yb and let me know if it works
Edit: this probably would have worked better in the questions or theme and apps section.

Thanks, that looks like what I need. Will try it out soon.
And yes, I put some thought into which forum to post in and since this is a request related to an accessory I chose here. Sorry!
Edit: The APK won't install on my One X running CM 10.1. Get a simple "App not installed." error.

Perhaps the APK is performing a check to see if the device is on a list of approved ones? I have no idea how to port an app, but it seems like some editing needs to be done to allow the app to install. Also, I wonder if it will work with HTC's bluetooth anyway...
I looked at the logs while trying to install it. Its looking for a samsung bluetooth file.. Which is probably why it fails to install on any CM10 rom or other devices...

I used app backup & restore maybe titanium would work better? Could that app not work good for sharing cause i tried a different app once and sent it to a friends s2 and it wouldn't install. Is there something else free that works good? And im stock not rooted.

Also didn't work for me on S4, the phone the app's made for... Used to work on rooted stock ROM but not on pa 3 (4.2.2) or cm 10.3 (4.3). Hope someone finds a fix soon...

has anybody else been successful with getting the app to work with CM 10.2 (4.3) on galaxy s3 I really need to get this watch to work it seems that the watch is visible on the phone itself when I looked at ble scanner. Sorry I'm quite a noob and just figured out how to root and get custom rom on my phone really don't want to buy a new phone just because of this watch it seems that the watch should work if the app would just work on the phone. I tried sideloading the app but got a message missing_shared_libraries. Also looked at the apk file on ApkAnalyser but I really don't know what to look for. Any ideas and helpful insights would be welcomed.

Will never work on S3 because of BLE Bluetooth Low Energy support. Sorry man...
Edit: Finally got Cookoo to work on my S4 (jfltexx) with JB custom ROM. Tried a lot of those, but LiquidSmooth 2.37 is the only one i've seen that works with BLE in combination with Cookoo Life Connect apk (for JB).

I don't get this.
The support sites says Samsung's with android 4.3 (because of BLE)..
Now woth 4.3 rolling out and the roms with 4.4 it should work I guess?
I installed the app without any problems on my S3 with CWM12 (unoffical).
I can open the app.
Now just need a Cookoo to test it...
I assumed BLE to be a hardware feature, found in S4 and later models. If it's a software tweak then might be possible, I guess. I will try it, when I get my hands on a jb S3.

If I understood correctly it can be toggled through software. But I'm a noob on this subjects so I only can read the devolper changes in Android/Cookoo logs.
Just bought a 2nd hand Cookoo and it's working on my S3 i9300 !!!!
Nice! Thx for the update

Does that ROM support low-energy BT (BLE)? One-x has standard 4 bluetooth so the hardware shouldn't be the problem.
Don't know the devicecode for your phone, but if available i recommend OMNIROM.
I can't even download the apk from the playstore.
Not compatible with device.

Audio Output Problems

Hello,
I do have my Nexus 5 for about 2 weeks now. I did root it right away.
I tried many ROMs and kernels. But with every combination I get the same problem:
Extremly annoying audio output glitches and errors. Mostly when watching videos on Youtube or listening to Spotify. Doesn't matter if I use headphones or the speaker.
It's hard to describe this error. If needed I can try to catch it on a Video.
Now the odd part:
I've got the exactly same problem on my Galaxy Nexus. When I got my N5 I used Google's restore function to get my Apps back.
What I tried:
Multiple ROMs -> LiquidSmooth, Mahdi, Slim, ...
Multiple Kernels
Different GApps
Viper4Android
Nothing of it did work.
Because I did have the exactly same Problem on my GNexus I do have the assumption that maybe an App is responsible. Although I don't have any exotic apps installed.
Any hints how I can get rid of this problem? Or does anyone know what causes it?
Thank you,
Cliff
Edit: Here is a video where you can hear the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqmGOIQ9sqs
Edit2: I just wiped my phone and clean flashed LiquidSmooth with PA GApps.
I restored only two apps with Titanium, and the problem was still there.
Edit3: Now I tried a rooted Stock ROM. Everything is working...
I really don't know what to do anymore. It isn't an App, it isn't the hardware and it looks like I am the only one who does have this problem on any ROM?!
Please help me.
What I suggest:
backup with helium
flash factory image
don't install anything
test
if it still persist it is a hardware defect and out of your hands, in that case, contact google and reflash everything to stock/ reset tamper flag. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
I just edited my post while you answered, and I did exactly what you suggested. See Edit3.
The problem is gone with a Stock ROM. But with every Custom ROM I tried, I do have this problem, and nobody else does...
I just flashed a CM Based ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-c-rom-4-4-2-v5-6-t2694339)
Haven't tested that before. It looks like everything is working fine. Audio without any errors...
Today I flashed some ROMs for further testing.
Stock, CM and CM based ROMs are working flawlessly.
Every AOSP ROM has the same audio problem.
Any ideas how I can fix this? I want to be able to use other ROMs than CM based
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5
I think I know what the problem was.
I did use a modified host file for ad blocking (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098)
I don't know why changing the host file was causing this problems, but without it a ROM and Kernel combination which caused problems before is working.
I also have this problem, but I haven't tried anything yet. So what's the solution for it? Perform a full restore?
