Hi, I am planning to send back my tab for the recall but i don't feel like updating since that means unrooting, etc. Could someone upload the recall app so I can complete me recall request?

New thread for this ROM and version...
Are most of the blurs gone like the epic ROM? or perhaps even more blurs has beeen removed?
Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
Blur really isn't bad at all in this version. I've seen no excess battery drain whatsoever.
hey MotoBoy can you attach your modified build.prop where you changed all r2d2>droid2?

Let me rephrase that...not all of them are gone but just a few left over.
It is as close to aosp vanilla that you can get so far with this ROM.

Market
Thanks for posting the files and instructions. This is awesome.
I noticed (accidentally) that some items are missing from the Market after performing this modification. I do not use any of the missing items, but I thought I'd let you know.
I was searching for a weather app, and MyCast does not come up. Pure Calendar is also missing. I only noticed because I usually see them there when searching, so I am not sure of any others. I also tried searching for the 2 apps by name, and they were missing.
I apologize in advance if this is a situation that is only applicable to myself and/or if this is the wrong place to post potential bugs.
you will need to edit the build.prop as the r2-d2 is not yet released.

Like the same non R2D2 ROM?
* update - clean rom, will try pushing the apk from full rom in the am.
Can't get swype to work. Doesn't even show up as an option. Did I do something wrong? If not is there a way to get it back up and running?
* fixed - thank you motaboy for the quick response. Simply pulled apk from full rom, then installed through app manager on astro. So far it is working, no need for a root file manager at least for me.
Feel kind of stupid since this turned out to be so easy to fix .

Are you using the Full or Clean ROM?
If clean it is not in there. Open the Full ROM Zip file, go into the system/app folder, copy skype to your SD card on phone, use root explorer or a browser that can browse the system folder to copy the skype.apk to system/app on phone. Give it the proper permissions, and you should be set if you are running the clean rom. If not then it should be under keyboards in settings. You may need to enalbe it from there.

I tried to edit the two lines in buld.prop for market fix but some apps were still not showing up. Not sure if it needs more edits or what is up. I deleted cache and data from market before I checked with new build.prop. I am sure I did it wrong
EDIT:
I think I used the keys for 2.3.15 and I recall the same issue. Let me try with the shipping keys...
# Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
ro.build.description=cdma_droid2-user 2.2 VZW 2.2.90 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/droid2_vzw/cdma_droid2/droid2:2.2/VZW/22.90:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
I tired with those keys but did not work, what else needs to be changed?
Battery draing fast
Has anyone experienced battery draining faster with the R2D2 rom? Mine is dying almost 2x faster then when i had my original ROM installed. Any ideas why this could be?

I have uninstalled it already and haven't seen any changes in performance or behavior. I'll post tomorrow night after a full day's use to give a report. But in all honesty I don't think its going to show any problems. You can always use Titanium Backup to back up the apk before you uninstall it that way if you do have problems, you can reinstall it.
EDIT: its labeled in TB as :
HTC Loggers 3.1.gingerbread.GRJ22.mecha
EDIT 2: This issue is on Sense ROMs only. If you are running an AOSP ROM, you are in the clear.
EDIT 3: If your still running Froyo Sense (not sure why you are) it may or may not be in there. Some people have stated that this is a Sense based Gingerbread issue only but since I can't confirm it yet, don't take my word.

Alternatively, you can just re-name HTCloggers.apk - to HTCloggers.bak, .xxx, .del, etc. with root or es explorer.

I understand that currently there is no fix without root or a patch. I was wondering if it would be possible to develop a firewall for the phone that would block it
Will freezing the apk work just as well or do we have to uninstall it completely?

No, because it would involve needing things that require root. Unless you have some sort of magical way to mess with iptables and install it on your phone or edit the host file without having write access to the system.
I am running a mostly stock MR2 (MR2 rooted and deodexed but NOT debloated) ROM and couldn't find it. The POC app also says connection refused. I checked with both es file explorer and titanium backup but did not find anything either.

You beat me to it.... iptables requires support to be compiled into the kernel. Without root, you ain't touching the kernel nor replacing it with one that has the necessary support.

[Q] Why do some roms auto restore apps and others dont?

When i was on GB or Froyo i remember every time i restored a rom either stock or custom, as soon as i logged into my google account my apps auto restored.
Now on ICS i see some custom roms do this and others do not and none of the stock roms do.
why is this?
its such as nice feature and it seems like something that is available from google itself and that some rom devs just enable it or disable it.
does anyone have any insight?
Also i downloaded Titanium Free version and i can not find Batch operations anywhere. did they change it to where you have to buy pro version to get batch operations now?
You have to check or uncheck it before signing in. If you download an app first it overrides the restore.
As far as titanium, I dunno. I support the devs and buy apps.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
no what I mean is some roms as soon as you sign in and choose yes to google backup service, the device starts downloading all of your apps from google play store automatically which is awesome.
most roms dont do that and none of the stock roms have done this since Froyo and SOME GB ones.
this must be some type of hidden default setting that some devs arent enabling by default in their roms which i cant understand why they wouldn't do it.
Before I sign in I uncheck auto sync and all that so the apps don't restore automatically. So I guess I wouldn't know which roms it happens or doesn't happen on.

yea i think ive noticed it on CM9 builds as well.
i just dont understand why even stock builds in Froyo and some GB had this enabled by default but no Stock ICS does it and very limited and hit or miss 3rd party ICS roms do it.
it makes it so much easier when flashing roms when you sign in and all of your apps from the playstore just start downloading.
I am interested in whether or not this has been addressed further? Is there a way to enable auto restore for roms? If so then how? Btw happy new year and thank you to everyone who helps to keep this community going from contributors to devs, themers, and testers. It has been a tremendous help to me time and time again. Perhaps the APK is performing a check to see if the device is on a list of approved ones? I have no idea how to port an app, but it seems like some editing needs to be done to allow the app to install. Also, I wonder if it will work with HTC's bluetooth anyway...
I looked at the logs while trying to install it. Its looking for a samsung bluetooth file.. Which is probably why it fails to install on any CM10 rom or other devices...

Will never work on S3 because of BLE Bluetooth Low Energy support. Sorry man...

I don't get this.
The support sites says Samsung's with android 4.3 (because of BLE)..
Now woth 4.3 rolling out and the roms with 4.4 it should work I guess?
I installed the app without any problems on my S3 with CWM12 (unoffical).
I can open the app.
Now just need a Cookoo to test it...
I assumed BLE to be a hardware feature, found in S4 and later models. If it's a software tweak then might be possible, I guess. I will try it, when I get my hands on a jb S3.

Does that ROM support low-energy BT (BLE)? One-x has standard 4 bluetooth so the hardware shouldn't be the problem.

Google search not working after update, help

As the title states my Google search is no longer working after the new update. The only way I can get it to work it to clear cache, data, and uninstall updates which will then revert the app to factory form. After doing all that the app works no issues but then the app updates itself and then i keep getting same error message every time I try to load it.. Anyone else have this issue? Running P6800 with JB 4.1.2. Thanks in advance.

Both Google Now / Search and Newsstand have been crashing on launch with the stock ROM. But on my other JB devices no such problem. I tried rooting this tablet. No change. Then I flashed the unofficial Cyanogenmod 10.1. That solved the problem.
My assumption: the Samsung stock ROM is the source of the problem.
What did I learn?
- My tablet is running smoother without all the Samsung crap. I should have done it even sooner!
- I will probably gravitate in the future to Nexus devices where the OS is not compromised by vendor-motivated overhead. And it's easier to get updates and custom ROMs.
- Because Samsung has not been fully cooperative with the developer community, ROMs often lack certain device drivers. (Another advantage for Nexus.)
If this motivates you to root and flash just be aware of two known deficiencies with the ROM I am using:
-no tethering
-once you turn off wifi you'll have to reboot to turn it on again.
(Thanks, Samsung for withholding wifi device drivers from the public.)
We shouldn't have to install custom roms in order for an app to work. I have tried to report the issue to Google but I have yet to receive feedback. I have flashed many roms and many of my Android devices but I longer wish to do so since no one rom is fully functional as it should, there will always be issues. I too may consider a Nexus device, but at the same time I have always liked Samsung and their products but this one issue with this app is a little annoying.

Let me know if any problems.
Whether Samsung or Google, the android environment can come across as chaotic. So much going on with all various versions.
Samsung keep selling us pretty much the same devices with new software, I'm not particularly impressed their pace of improvements.
Google products seems to work well on Apple ios, android is still missing functions available Apple for a good while now, funny how that works.
