[q] data recovery on your internal storage asus tf700t - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello Guys, I am trying to find a solution to my suffering!!! I own an ASUS tf700t 32 Gbs. I went on a trip and took tons or pics and vids. I uploaded them in the internal storage of my tablet. after coming back from a i trip, I decided to factory reset the tablet because i was tired how laggy and slow the tablet was. I forgot to back up my info and now i am in the dark room looking for an exit on this. I am trying to to a data recovery but I cant make my tablet show as USB storage to conduct a data reco using a app on my laptop. I am unlocked, and rooted. I cant even enable the UMS. has anyone ever recover lost data after a fact reset? is there hope?

What a bummer!
A quick search brought this: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download/android-ext4-data-recovery-4739462.html
I can't vouch for any of these programs or apps! Do your research. You need something that works with ext4 file systems. A windows data recovery tool won't help.

[Q] USB Mass Storage Command for CM7 Kindle Fire

Hi all.
I have a rooted Kindle Fire Running the latest CM7 that I grabbed from this site. I have two quick questions, if I may.
I know that once rooted an running CM7 Windows does not recognize the tablet for usb mass storage unless you take some steps and since I chose the option of the command in terminal emulator, I had to redo it when I restarted the tablet to show my buddy TWRP 2.0 and now I can't find that command anywhere. Can anyone point me to it?
Also since the Fire only comes with a 5GB partition as the SD card I wanted to Format and clean it and start fresh on it. any one know if that will mess with TWRP or CM 7 at all. I don't mind if I lose everything else because I have neglected adding many apps while I tinker with it.
I just had a thought. Since the SD Card is not technically an SD card and is Just a partition(correct me if I'm wrong), Then using TWRP to wipe it may wipe everything. Anyone done this?
Call me OCD but I'm worried about the storage and would love to get rid of anything not needed.
Or does anyone think I can just remove all of the folders accept for my backup folder? none seem to have much of anything in them. I think most were put there by the Stock Rom.
Nevermind on the usb thing. I got that confused with the ICS rom I flashed to my DX. All I had to do was select USB mass storage on the Fire.
But does anyone know if I can format my SD card with out ruining TWRP or the ROM?

[Q] wiping xoom/stupid question

so i feel silly for having to ask but the xoom is the first device ive used that had a fair amount of on board storage. basically im wondering if all that on board storage is wiped when i wipe my xoom to run an ics rom? i rooted out of the box so it wouldnt have been an issue initially and now im concerned because ive got almost the entire 32gb full of movies and pics and want to try an ics rom but need to know if a backup of all that on my pc is necessary. Thanks in advance for answering my stupid question

If you have the R4c 3.2.0.0 solarnz CWM recovery installed, that bypasses the internal media storage and won't wipe it. You will have to reinstall your apps and associated data.
Thank you!!!! That's great info. I got worried when I remembered u can't just remove the SD to be sure my stuff is safe

Rogue recovery will also not wipe the media, unless specificed to.

[Q] SD card 0.00 bytes free, device offline ?

I'm having problems guys
I don't know if I succesfully rooted my phone as when I ran ./root.sh through the linux debian terminal, I received multiple errors saying deivce offline
This also happened when I did Linux/adb reboot "Device offline"
I am now having the problem that my internal sdcard appears to be unusable as my phone keeps saying that is full though it must have over half of the 13gb free
I can access it through mass storage but I can't download/install anything as I apparently have no space
I have not had this problem before, if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
adb can be weird. it doesn't get covered much on xda but you have to make a file called 70android.rules or something to that effect, I can give better details some other time, right now I can't remember the location or exactly what goes in it besides the samsung vendor id but it basically allows adb to see the phone.
if you have that setup then maybe there is another problem. not sure what issue you have with the sdcard but does it work from the phone and not through a data cable? vise versa? not working at all?
When I go through Settings-SD Card storage my SD card (internal) says that it is full though it's not!
Perhaps I don't understand what the "wipe data/factory reset" does on your phone through red recovery
p.s. If gou actually are running 3e would it say 3e recovery?
I can't install appa as my sd card is entirely full
I had unlocked my phone before through the same comp, I don't know why I am having problems.
Every time I root this phone I do something different everytime (I forget what I did last time)
Others have suggested doing an odin? This phone is a refurb it has many errors aside from freezing then vibrating- force closs
It is slow, sometimes when it freezes the icons (four main on home that you can't movebon stock rom) rotate an entire 90 degrees it's weird as hell
I wish I never sent my Infuse in b/c of the cracked screen I should have just gotten the screen fixed
Thanks for your response
try a factory rest through settings>privacy, then if that doesn't help do an Odin flash back to stock with repartition.
it seems rare on American devices but a lot of galaxy s devices have had trouble with the internal SD card going corrupt. in some cases its fixable but I'm not really sure if that's what's going on here.
Ok so I did reset through settings-privacy that did the trick
Now to start all over again...
I seem to be having a hard time finding the backed up files on Titanium...
oh [email protected] my bad....
I forgot to mention that the privacy reset formats the sdcard. part of why its often successful is that it'll fix certain issues with the SD card and it wipes app data saved to /sdcard/data/
titanium backup keeps the backups on the sdcard...

by the way, I think this reset option also erase everything on your external_SD as well. I found that out the hard way very early on.

HELP!! Lost photos

Hi all,
My wife's phone went into recovery screen (not rooted) when she turned it on after being flat. As a result it did a factory reset and with internal storage SD all photos and video are gone. Dozens of photos of our newborn son and she's beside herself.
Being Jellybean you can't mount as USB to do a normal data recovery on it as a standard drive which sucks.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how to get this phone mounted somehow so can data recover the memory on it?
Help will not go unrewarded.....
Thanks

This. But beyond this, you want to make sure that whatever data remains isn't overwritten. That means don't start installing more apps and taking more pictures. There are also professionals who make attempts at recovering data, but those services are relatively expensive. It doesn't sound like you're ready to root, but there are apps that can help rooted users, as the person above me mentioned.

You should be able to access the sdcard in recovery via adb shell. You probably need custom recovery though

My kid was screaming halfway through the first post and when i came back to submit, it asked me for my password again. Figured it didn't work so made a new post. Oops.
I have rooted my own personal one-x, dhd's, sensations etc so i'm not against it but i know if i unlock the bootloader through htc-dev it will wipe the phone again so i'm loathe to do that for the moment.
Just sucks JB can't simply mount USB like ICS. It would have taken me 5 minutes to get her stuff back instead it's been 2 days already.
I've now got the phone showing as a 'media device' in windows explorer with full access to the 24gb of 'sd card space' but still can't run a recovery program as doesn't assign a drive letter.
Going to be a long day.
Moved to Q&A.

[Q] Still no access to internal phone via usb

Hi all,
To start with, I'm in India and tried to unlock my Verizon S3.. at first, got it rooted, tried to unlock, didn't work and it caused a bunch of connection problems, etc. with the phone, so I did a factory reset, thinking it would wipe the problems I was having.
Lost some files I forgot were on my internal memory I needed, so I wanted to do a file recovery. During this process, I re-downloaded the drivers for the S3 I needed and then found that my phone would connect, but wouldn't connect as a driver and only as a media source. So the recovery software can't find the device to inspect. Even when I debugged, it would only register as a bootloader and wouldn't recognize it as anything more.
I'm trying to figure out what other steps I need to take to either remove something that I tampered with before the factory reset, or if I need to install something new to configure my device to register as a driver, or do something else I can't figure out?
And I'm still trying to recover those files from before the factory reset too.
Anyone have any suggestions? I can explain in more detail if needed.
Thanks for all the help!
Are you trying to recover personal files that were wiped?

Trying to get my computer to register the phone as a driver so then I will be able to recover the files.

You may be out of luck. When google went to Android 4.x, they switched to the MTP protocol which mounts the phone to the computer as a media device, rather than a mass storage device (as in previous versions of Android). As far as I can tell, devs have only been able to figure out how to get the external SD card to be seen as mass storage (and that's built into a rom, not a stand alone mod, I believe).
Is there any file recovery software/app available for Android that you can install directly on the phone, rather than needing to run it from a computer?
Well, that's not a good sign. But I will check into the direct software to the phone and let you know I find anything.
Thanks for the tip!
